Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation

UGH, i wanted to really like this, but i just couldn't. i'm sorry, nars. i wasn't into the formula (like, kind of watery? hard to blend in evenly and didn't cover much in the end, and i don't even have a lot to cover!) it feels really nice and silky, but i mean, thats why it is so annoying for me to work with. just a personal preference i guess. i prefer neutrogena healthy skin to this.

Liquid -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20 (2009 formulation)

ok, so i bought nars sheer glow after all the hype and was ALL excited but ended up not really being all that into it. i kept using it because it was like what, $40? but the color was kind of off so it was just weird for me, and i didn't like the application (took too long to achieve a nice look). so instead of buying another $40 bottle in a darker color to mix, i bought some neutrogena healthy skin which i heard was similar, in a shade that was a much better match. i didn't want to admit that i liked the $13 foundation better than the $40 one i had JUST purchased, but ugh i do. i really, really do. this stuff is wonderful. the shade classic ivory "10" is PERFECT for me, looks 100% natural on my skin, is super easy to apply and doesn't break me out and lasts all day with powder on top. AND it has spf 20 compared to the spf NONE nars has. i feel like the nars will be great for the winter since it is about the same shade i am then (xxx pale, sigh) but for now neutrogena and i are bffs.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
rated 5 of 5

5 stars based on the fact that this is the ONLY primer that has ever actually filled in/concealed the pores on my face. HONESTLY, i have tried them all and they bring back bad memories! this is really thick and i kind of hate the stupid jar it comes in (ew) but it works and that is what matters. i like to use it under my eyes, too because it helps with creasing concealer and all that. and it hasn't broken me out thus far which surprised me (i am suspicious of things that work too well! and it is really thick, honestly) i can't really comment on stuff like shine control and staying power and all that jazz, cause i don't have any issues with those, but for pores, this stuff is gold.

Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector

i really wanted this to work. the pores around/on my nose are big-ish and bother me when i'm staring closely/intently at my face in the mirror, and foundation always seems to seep in and cake and its just gross ok? nobody digs that. but this stuff literally did like....nothing. it didn't break me out or anything, but it had no effect on my pores appearance, either! hmph. anyway, i have since tried and loved l'oreal magic perfecting base, which ACTUALLY works at filling in/concealing pores.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation
rated 3 of 5
Ravey 7/4/2010 1:24:00 AM

oh my mixed feelings. i love that this is a high spf powder (the foundation i was previously using had no spf and sunscreens never work well on my skin, so i though this was genius in that respect) but WOW could this be more drying and chalky looking? i found i could only wear this really lightly dusted on top of my other powder, and then i figure the spf probably isn't even doing anything. the packaging is also annoying (the middle compartment doesnt stay down when i open it, and as if i'm gonna use that sponge thing at the bottom) but it looks cute i guess. whatevs. i have a foundation with spf 20 now, so me and this powder are breaking up.

Lipstick -MAC - Hue

i got this color because i was TOLD it was a good nude shade for nc 15 skin without being TOO nude. but man, this just looked terrible on me. super tacky. if you're nc 15 and looking for a nude color, just go for creme d'nude! it is much more subtle, and looks way less silly than this.

Lips -Neutrogena - Moistureshine Lip Sheer in Sparkling Nude 5

gorgeous, shimmery nude-peach color. perfect for the beach. there is not much pigmentation (obviously, the product is called 'lip sheer') but that is part of the charm. sometimes i like to wear it over a regular matte nude, which also looks very pretty. the formula is really great- very moisturizing, not sticky at all and doesn't exaggerate dry lips, etc. the tube is also very cute- slim, silver, and totally chic. i'm definitely buying more colors from this line.

i got this out of intrigue, but i really did end up loving the product. it is a very hydrating formula and the color (which usually ends up a vaguely bright but sheer pink on me, although sometimes sheer red) always goes perfectly. i use it when i am in a rush a lot, and don't have any real planned scheme to my look, because i know it will look good no matter what.

Blush -MAC - Satin Blush - Well Dressed

a beautiful, standard light pink blush. i really haven't noticed any shimmer in it (is that just me?? hm) but the color is very pretty and looks great on my nc 15 skin.

Blush -Revlon - Powder Blush - Tawny Peach

i went to the drugstore searching for a peach blush for the summer and decided on this. i usually use pink or red blushes, but it is SUMMER and i wanted it to feel that way, haha. i actually really like this. its pretty sheer, which is fine on my nc 15 skin and which i actually really like because of how i use it. i apply it with a sephora angled brush on my sheekbones and then lightly on my chin, nose, forehead, etc and the result is very pretty, glowy peachy skin.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation

i FINALLY caved and bought this product after literally over a year of deliberation. i hesitated because there were no real color matches for NC 15, but i got the 115 (i think? the yellow based one) which was a bit too dark, but since it is summer and i am getting a bit more tan, it matches me very well now. the formula is great- very lightweight, satin and soft feeling. it doesn't accentuate any problems on my skin and looks very natural if applied right. the coverage is really great, too. i am not entirely sold, though, because in the heat it doesn't stand up very well (blah, summer) even with a good base. i get the best results when i put a bit of my mac face and body on top of it for some reason (maybe because it is waterproof) mostly i like this if i am going out at night and it is cooler, because it looks great, covers everything and applies quickly and easily. i just wish it lasted longer and was more affordable....i'm going to try nars sheer glow next.

Self Tanners -St.Tropez - St.Tropez Tinted Self Tanning Mousse/Whipped Bronze
rated 4 of 5
Ravey 6/10/2010 3:17:00 PM

wow, i love this stuff. i am super pale (nc 15) and have tried jergens and the like before with less than glowing results. i decided to try this stuff after seeing reviews on youtube and reading the MUA page, and i love it. its true brown, works immediately and lasts a long time. the results are a build able bronze glow. i looove it. my only problem is the fact that it stains my hands if i don't use gloves, and if i do use gloves, it is hard to apply evenly. still, its the best self tan product i've tried. i will definitely repurchase when i run out.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Renpure Organics Amazing Miracle
rated 4 of 5
Ravey 6/10/2010 3:14:00 PM

i tried this after falling in love with the other renpure products i bought. it's a nice conditioner, but it isn't intensive or anything very different from the actual conditioner, except it is a bit thicker and you have to leave it in longer. if anything, i think my hair feels nicer when i use the regular conditioner from the line. this kind of made my hair a little too flat the next day, which might be good if you like straight hair, but i prefer my waves. this would be good if you have very dry hair, maybe, and not ultra fine, lightweight waves like me! i'll use the rest up, but i won't rebuy.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Renpure Organics - I Love My Hair Body & Shine Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
Ravey 6/10/2010 3:10:00 PM

my new favorite sulfate free shampoo. it smells REALLY great and works amazingly. i got soo many compliments on my hair after switching to renpure products (i was previously using another sulfate free shampoo for years, which i liked but this is just that much better and smells nicer) i use the green bottle shampoo, the red bottle conditioner (the moisturizing one) and i just picked up the reconstructor after some debate, which is decent, but not necessary, i found. i really love this line and recommend it to EVERYONE. i just got my roommate to switch over, too, and she's experienced similar results. best of all, it is only like 6 or so dollars here. my only complaint is the packaging, which is cute, but the tops of the bottles always break off for me for some reason? oh well.
