Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia
Peri 4/12/2010 11:36:00 AM
I definitely don't want to jump the gun, but I started using this yesterday and I swear I see a difference. My skin has been dull, dry and just overall difficult lately, despite the fact I've been washing, exfoliating and moisturizing regularly. Though I've heard such fantastic things about the Mia, my expectations were such that I'd have to give it a few weeks to see any progress. Last night, I washed my face by hand with Purpose, and then put another pump of the cleanser on the Mia. I used it for one minute (it shuts off after your session is done) and used my usual serum and moisturizer. I woke to better looking skin. It looks MUCH more plumped up, even and smooth and my makeup looks much more natural and seamless. I can't wait to continue using this, and hopefully see even better results. *UPDATE*: On day # 5 and I can't believe the change in my skin! It's even, clear and smooth. This morning I woke up and was shocked at the fact I probably didn't need any makeup. Of course I wore some anyway :) *UPDATE #2*: OK, I'm over a month into using this and my skin still looks fantastic. I use it daily, sometimes twice a day with Purpose cleanser and it stays looking clear, smooth and glowing. *UPDATE #3* It's been nearly three months and my skin has never looked better. Even a friend commented the other day, asking what I used (he said my skin looked "like butter."). Still use the Mia daily, and my gaping pores are GONE, no dry patches and no uneven tone. I'm quite floored that I finally found a product that WORKS. Everyone should use this, for realz.

Lipstick -MAC - petals and peacocks
Peri 4/7/2010 11:18:00 AM
WHOA! This lipstick is an AWESOME bright pink shade. On me, it's a tad subtle with one coat, but with two, it's super-pink. The formula is fantastic — creamy and non-drying. It's definitely a chic twist on a red lip, and it's great for summer with a light tan. It's 11 a.m. and I just put some on and love the way it looks for a Spring day, but the trick is to keep the rest of my makeup minimal. Just a little foundation applied with a damp sponge, one swipe of bronzer and my favorite MAC brow set gel in Mink.

Misc Beauty Tools -Alcone - Makeup Sponges
Peri 4/7/2010 11:00:00 AM
These are fantastic sponges. I typically use either the BeautyBlender sponge or a La Mer foundation brush, and while both are great, sometimes i just want a regular sponge. They're dense, good-quality and really help with super-smooth and even application of my foundation. I wasn't aware of the fact that they're re-usable, so I'll definitely wash them a few times before tossing. MUCH better than any drugstore sponge, by a mile.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
Peri 3/31/2010 12:01:00 PM
I like this foundation sometimes. It's funny, on certain days it looks amazing and on others it looks thick and cakey. Not sure why this is, but using my AMAZING La Mer foundation brush helps a little. Applying it with my fingers makes me look way too made-up. I'm currently using 020, which I first thought was way too light but it's actually a pretty spot-on match. I'm on the fence about this.

Lips -MAC - Pro Longwear in Sappho
Peri 3/11/2010 12:19:00 PM
LOVE this new shade! It's a deep cherry red that's not as dark as burgundy but not as bright as a regular red. It looks fab on my light-medium skin and brown hair. And, it stays on forever.

Liquid -La Mer - Skincolor De La Mer The Treatment Fluid Foundation SPF 15
Peri 3/11/2010 12:12:00 PM
When I first tried this out, I was unsure, thinking it was a bit heavy/cakey for my taste. Turns out, I was applying it all wrong. I was using a sponge and using waaaay too much product. I also tried applying it with my fingers and it looked extremely thick and cakey. I now use it with La Mer's amazing foundation brush and I need no more than two small drops to cover my whole face — which looks flawless afterward. My only suggestion is that you apply it on well-moisturized skin. At $85 it's beyond pricey, but a bottle will last forever if you apply it properly.

Makeup Brushes -La Mer - The Foundation Brush
Peri 3/4/2010 12:53:00 PM
I typically use sponges (beautyblender, namely) to apply my foundation but I recently switched to this amazing brush. Like other reviewers mentioned, the best aspect is that you only need a tiny bit of foundation, as the brush blends and covers perfectly. It's soft, light and lovely. After using it, my uneven skin looks flawless. lA bit of an indulgence, yes, but i think it's worth it.

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
Peri 2/10/2010 10:48:00 AM
I've had this in my possession for some time but never actually used it seriously. I'd try a dab here or there but usually while wearing other makeup. Well, I recently came back from a trip where airport security seized my HG Shiseido dual balancing makeup (I was pissed) and needed something. What a surprise! I apply this with a Beauty Blender sponge and my skin looks fantastic. Even, slightly dewy and non-cakey. The shade, which I always thought was a tad too dark, is pretty spot-on, actually (C4). It's VERY runny, which is annoying when opening the bottle, because a good deal of foundation escapes and runs down the sides and is wasted, but otherwise, it's a really good lightweight find.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Bar
Peri 2/10/2010 10:31:00 AM
Purpose is the best thing for my skin, ever. I use the bar of soap as well as the liquid cleanser and both are fantastic. I recently stopped using Purpose to try a high-end face wash and my skin freaked out. Small pimples and whiteheads developed and as soon as I switched back, my skin cleared up and looks great. Also, it doesn't suck the moisture out of dry skin, which is crucial. RECOMMENDED!!

Lipstick -DuWop - Private Red
Peri 1/21/2010 6:08:00 PM
Whoa, this is awesome. It's totally red and matte and dramatic on my cool skin tone. I've tried lots of reds but most are too pink or orange but this one is a true red. My friend just tried it on and while it's a different shade on her, it still looked fantastic. Worth a shot, people!

Lipstick -MAC - So Scarlet
Peri 1/3/2010 5:46:00 PM
LOOOOVE this lip color! I have a ton of red lipsticks, most by MAC, and this is far and away my fave. It's bright yet deep and rich, with no orange-y undertones. Whether dressed up or just wearing a pair of jeans, this lipstick makes it all look chic. Yes, it's a tad drying, but I'll deal with it,

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Coppola- Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy Treatment
Peri 1/3/2010 10:47:00 AM
This treatment literally changed my life. That might sound dramatic, but it's true. Before my stylist suggested Keratin Complex, my hair was frizzy, curly, coarse and too much to deal with. Now, it always looks smooth, shiny and natural. It's not a straightening treatment, which I love because I hate the look of pin-straight hair on people that don't naturally have it. Rather, it's a smoothing treatment, which takes the bulk and frizz out of your hair. Before, I was truly a slave to my hair, always dreading vacations and swimming ... Now, I can let it dry naturally or blow it out in half the time. I really can't say enough good things about this. I PRAY Coppola never discontinues it!!!

Liquid -Shiseido - The Makeup Dual Balancing Foundation SPF 17
Peri 1/3/2010 10:34:00 AM
This is far and away my HG foundation. I stopped using it a few months ago in order to give NARS' sheer glow and matte glow a try but I promptly returned. While using the NARS, my face looked pale and cakey and I developed major dry spots all over my cheeks. The second I switched back to Shiseido, my skin looked fantastic. I apply with a Beauty Blender sponge, which gives me a natural look — it goes on smooth and my skin looks absolutely flawless and hydrated all day. I wear Natural Fair Ochre and it's a great match. I recommend it highly.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
Peri 12/29/2009 3:07:00 PM
Although my skin is horribly dry in the winter, it usually is pretty clear. WELL that certainly changed over the last month or so, when I noticed a bunch of pimples, clogged pores and blackheads that weren't there before. I thought maybe I hadn't been removing my makeup as well as I ought to, with my Shu Uemura cleansing oil, so I switched to this basic face wash. Thankfully, it removes makeup well and my skin has totally cleared up! Go Purpose!

Highlighters -Isadora - Mineral Body Glow
Peri 12/23/2009 1:09:00 PM
Love this loose powder! It's definitely comparable to similar shimmer powders by Chanel and Cle de Peau, but it only costs $20. It's very sparkly, so a light is suggested. I use a little on my cheekbones and shoulders, if they're bare. It's a pale pink powder, but it really doesn't show up oink at all. Great find!
