Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
MissJulie89 11/13/2011 10:10:00 AM
I'd been using Maybelline Express The Colossal for a couple months, and while it was a good mascara, I had to toss it after it dried up too quickly in my opinion. I'd been reading reviews for Lash Blast and eyeing it for a bit, so I purchased it (in Very Black) when Rite Aid was having a sale. THIS is my mascara. I'm a big fan of dramatic eyelashes, since my eyes are pretty small and my lashes are long but light in color. This mascara's rubbery bristles catch and coat every lash, and with a little bit of wiggle, fan them out and maximize them to the point of touching my browbone. It doesn't clump, doesn't flake (on me, at least), is never messy, and isn't too difficult to remove. It makes my lashes look huge. EVERYTHING I want from a mascara is in this giant orange tube. This isn't your everyday, natural look. It's dramatic. And I love it. Speaking of that orange tube, while it's certainly different and easy to spot in my cluttered makeup basket, it's a teensy bit clumsy. NBD, though. If it houses the most awesome mascara I've ever tried, I could care less what the packaging looks like. This is a definite repurchase from me until I find something that can top it. But whatever that is would probably be too expensive. :P PS: Don't get the brush too close to your waterlines. It can get a bit... stabby.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Denorex Extra Strength 2-in-1
MissJulie89 11/12/2011 2:42:00 PM
Like the reviewer below me, I bought this after hearing alot of praise from JCuevas04. I have thick, curly, dry hair as well that can suffer from scalp "suffication" due the sheer volume of it which can aid in buildup. I don't really have dandruff, but salicylic acid can help with scalp health, so I figured I'd try this SA-based shampoo. Price: Kinda pricey- between $8-$10 depending on the retailer. Alot of medicated shampoos can be on the more expensive side, but nontheless I was taken aback by the price. Let me tell you, though, SO WORTH IT. Also, this particular brand can be a bit difficult to find, but I know that CVS, KMart and Wal Mart definitely sell it. Packaging: Plain, to the point, and relatively masculine. Maybe more unisex. I think this brand is more or less marketed towards men, as Jimmy Johnson is its spokesperson and it seems to be a choice product for men with problem scalps. Needless to say, I couldn't care less, and wouldn't want a healthier scalp? Consistency: ...Scary. Just... intimidating. It's brown and a little bit sticky. Not super thick or sticky, but still. It's not attractive. However, none of that matters. At all. It's so beautiful. Scent: Like the consistency, kind of scary. It smells pretty medicinal with a hint of menthol. So... minty medicine. It doesn't smell very good. It's not sickening or headache-inducing, but it's not pretty and perfumey. It doesn't linger at all, though, which is good, but even if it did, I think I'd still use it. That's how much I adore this shampoo. Ingredients: I uploaded a picture of the ingredients list. Aside from the 3% SA, the rest is pretty much gentle cleansers (This poo is sulfate-free! Woohoo!), some dimethicone, and vitamins. Oh, and menthol for that awesome tingly feeling. really nice ingredients list. Performance: This. Shampoo. Is. The. Best. It lathers up like crazy, cleanses without stripping- AT ALL- smoothes, moisturizes (without over-moisturizing or over-softening), and soothes the scalp. I mainly focus on my scalp when I wash with this. I massage with my fingertips and let it soak in for a few minutes so the SA and menthol can pamper the bejeezus out of my scalp. I lightly massage the rest of my hair with the lather, and after rinsing, my hair feels clean without feeling stripped. Even though this is a 2-in-1, I still use a light conditioner (I love Trader Joe's Tea Tree condish for the extra tingly boost) for detangling and moisturizing properties since my hair needs it. When my hair air-dries, it is left incredibly supple, smooth, shiny, thick, defined, and virtually frizz-free. I still use a detangler and serum, but I've never achieved hair this healthy with any other shampoo before. I can't get over it. I can seriously tell the difference. I can't stop touching my hair! Overall: I can't wait to see long-term results with this shampoo. If I use it once or twice a week (I don't want to overdo it), I can see nothing but incredibly healthy hair in the near future. Despite its branded masculinity, odd consistency and intimidating scent, this shampoo is absolutely LUXURIOUS. I can walk into a salon or drugstore and see high-end, super expensive brands and giggle knowing my little secret.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm
MissJulie89 11/7/2011 11:53:00 AM
I've been buying into the hype surrounding these new lip products popping up all of a sudden. No placebo- this lip balm makes me a happy little person! I bought the flavor Cherry Me. It's very moisturizing with no waxiness, and the moisture lasts alot longer than with, say, Chapstick (though I have mad love for Cherry Chapstick). The dewy shine and tint this balm gives me is better than probably any tinted balm I've ever tried, and it makes my lips feel plump, soft, smooth and kissable. This particular flavor smells cherry-ish, but has no bad taste. In fact, to me, it has no flavor at all, which is probably a good thing. The packaging is incredibly adorable and eye-catching, and the bright colors make it easy to find in a purse. However, the plastic tube feels a bit flimsy and I'm worried it might crack under pressure, say if I have it in a back pocket and accidentally sit on it. Other than that, I can't get enough of this balm and will definitely repurchase. It's a bit too pricey for a stick of lip balm, but I guess you're mostly paying for packaging anyway. Meh. I <3 it.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - FastDry - Teal of Fortune
MissJulie89 11/5/2011 9:01:00 PM
I adore this color! It's a gorgeous, shimmery teal with goldish and silverish glitter. In two coats, this polish goes on completely opaque, and looks very smooth and non-streaky. It gains added depth and beauty with a good topcoat- I use Revlon Top Speed. However, I have ONE issue, and this goes out to all WnW polishes, not just this one. I've purchased a handful of WnW polishes (this one included) that have defective brushes. Defective meaning splayed and uneven brushes, which can pose problems when applying the polish. It doesn't cause streakiness, per se, but it can get polish all over your nails and cause a mess. Other than that, WnW makes a good polish and has a nice variety of colors to choose from, especially for the cheap price. This is another winner from Wet 'n' Wild!

Lips -Unlisted Brand - Mrs. Fields White Chunk Macadamia Flavored Lip Balm
MissJulie89 11/5/2011 3:14:00 PM
I found this ENORMOUS lip balm in a dollar store and just had to have it. C'mon, a white chip macadamia flavored lip balm? Yummy! Plus, for being so gigantic and only a dollar, it's alot of product for the cash. I was a bit skeptical, though, since every time I'd bought a lip balm from a dollar store it's been utter crap, especially ones flavored or scented like food or candy. But seriously, look at those ingredients! I was blown away at the list, especially for only a dollar. I mean, they're probably not grade-A ingredients, but it's definitely beyond dollar store quality. Now, onto the actual product. I was SO surprised at how good this lip balm is. It definitely doesn't feel waxy, and moisturizes very well. Plus, the staying power of the moisture is better than more expensive or name-brand balms I've tried. How's that for a buck? The only qualms I have with it are the lack of flavor- it says it's flavored, but it doesn't taste like anything and only smells like macadamia nut cookies- and the awkwardness of applying it to my lips what with its giganticness and all. But seriously? These are super minor qualms. It being ridiculously big is one of the reasons why I bought it, and it not tasting like cookies isn't a big deal since at least it doesn't have a bad taste, and smells like cookies anyway. I'm definitely gonna be repurchasing this little gem. I might stock up since it's a novelty and probably won't be around forever. They also have a chocolate chip cookie flavor/scent, so I'll probably try that one as well. If you can find this lip balm, I highly suggest trying it out. It's a bizarre, awesome product.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Liner - Black
MissJulie89 11/3/2011 9:38:00 AM
This liner is perfect. I see absolutely no need to go back to pencil or creme liners because of this amazing stuff. Since I do a slight kitten eye (apparently that's what a non-dramatic, small cat eye is called) every day, I need a liner that's smooth, easy to apply, and very pigmented. This is ALL of those things. This liner ridiculously bold, smooth, and the brush is pretty tiny and the perfect shape which makes for super easy gliding and defining. One swipe is enough for great pigment. I've never had a problem with it smudging or running throughout the day- it pretty much stays put. It's easy to remove as well. I'm a nut so I have this liner in black, dark brown, brown (the copper shade) and purple. The black and dark brown are solid and very bold. The copper and purple are more shimmery and less pigmented, but it's no big. I love them all. Wet 'n' Wild makes a product worth way more than its price. I'll be buying these liners as long as they're on the shelves. Woo!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in Lust [DISCONTINUED]
MissJulie89 10/31/2011 9:33:00 AM
This is an awesome smokey eye palette. It has alot of varitey and is of excellent quality. As much as I love it, I probably wouldn't repurchase it if it didn't have that AMAZING gunmetal-ish shade in there. Ya know, that metallic slate blue one on the right side? That shade is the love of my life. It's so pigmented, easily applicable and classy. Yeah, the rest of this palette is great and all, but that gunmetal takes the cake.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails - Gunmetal
MissJulie89 10/25/2011 11:49:00 PM
The first thing that attracted me to this polish was the name. So cool. The color is absolutely gorgeous as well. Medium-dark metallic silver-gray-slate blue. Opaque and smooth in two coats. Very chic. Love it. However, the formula is a but too runny and drippy. I expect better out of Sally Hansen. Also, Sally usually has a flat brush that seems to fit my nails perfectly, but this polish doesn't have that. Sad face. Overall, though, I love this polish and will repurchase. The name and color are badass, and it dries relatively quickly with a topcoat. I just wish it had that cool brush. :'(

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish Heather Silk
MissJulie89 10/25/2011 1:19:00 PM
This is the ONLY Wet 'n' Wild blush I will put anywhere near my face. I tried Berry Shimmer and Pearlescent Pink and both gave me what I call "sunburnface," no matter how little I put on. I love WnW, but despised their blushes... until Heather Silk. This blush is a natural, classy, yet very cute shade of pink that seems suitable for any undertone. WnW blushes are MEGA pigmented, which can be a bad thing as well as a good thing. Apply this with a good brush and a light hand. Not kidding. If you want a nice, matte flushed look, I highly suggest this blush. Just don't forget to be careful! XD

Moisturizers -Derma E - Very Clear Problem Skin Moisturizer
MissJulie89 10/24/2011 9:22:00 AM
THIS. MOISTURIZER. IS. MY. HERO. I've always been absolutely terrified of the idea of putting lotion on my face. I've always had problematic, oily, acne-prone skin that I would purposefully try to keep as dry as possible thinking that it would get rid of the acne. That was dumb. Keeping my face dry meant more oil production, which meant more pimples, and ultimately more scars. Yikes. I purchased this lotion a couple of months ago in hopes that it would be light enough for my oily skin and help me balance oil production. Well, it definitely does that, and I couldn't be happier. It's so light, non-sticky, non-greasy, refreshing (the tea tree oil and fragrance are just wonderful), and keeps my skin hydrated and balanced. It never feels greasy, never feels like it's too much. Plus, it's mostly natural and totally silicone-free. This lotion has kept my face from breaking out, and for that, I love it. It's a teensy bit costly, but you get so much product for the price, especially if you use little bits every day like me. I put some on a q-tip to ration myself and keep the jar sanitary. Speaking of the jar, it's sturdy, and is packaged with a thing to cover the product in addition to the lid. I love Derma E. I've been using this lotion and their Problem Skin Cleanser, Very Clear Cleansing Scrub, and scar gel in conjunction for a while now, and my skin is looking fantastic as compared to the mess it was in before. Like I mentioned in my review for the scar gel, I need to write Derma E a thank-you letter. Their products have proved to be perfect for my skin type, affordable, and extremely effective. I <3 Derma E.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Megaliner Liquid Liner- Brown/Brun
MissJulie89 10/24/2011 8:59:00 AM
This liner is great! This has introduced me into the world of liquid liner, and yes, I want to stay! I bought this thinking it was going to be a matte brown, but upon closer inspection I realized the bottle shows a shimmery brown. When applied, it comes out copper, which was unexpected, but I LOVE it. I'm thrilled about how much it brightens up my blue eyes. It takes a few swipes for better pigment, but it's worth it. The tube is easy to handle, and the thin brush makes for easy application (cat eye and all). However, I always make sure I'm super careful about taking the wand out of the tube, since I noticed if I do it too quickly, the liner splashes a bit. The only bad things I have to say about this liner: the amount of time it takes to dry (a bit too long) and how easily it comes off. I mean, if you cry- well, let's just say you'd better not even snivel. It'll look like you never put on liner in the first place. Wet 'n' Wild makes a solid product. I still can't get over the quality of their makeup for the absurdly cheap price points. I'm sure this isn't the best liquid liner in the world, but for three bucks, it's certainly worth trying. Even if you're a makeup snob, having a bottle of this liner around wouldn't hurt in a pinch.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Owl's Night
MissJulie89 10/24/2011 2:25:00 AM
I feel so lucky to have found this- the last one in the store, too. I polished with it tonight, and still can't get over how beautiful it is. It's stunning. Gorgeous. Sexy. Unique. Opaque in two coats. Quick-drying. Good formula. My new favorite polish. Incredible. I've never been so sad to hear the words "Limited Edition" in my life. I will forever be on the hunt to find a stable dupe of this.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Coral Reef
MissJulie89 10/22/2011 9:16:00 AM
What other praises can I sing that no one else has sung about this gloss? I bought into the hype, and this stuff is hyped up for a REASON. What an incredibly gorgeous little thing this is. It's absolutely perfect for my fair-medium, neutral-warmish skintone. It's very pigmented, especially for a lipgloss, which leads me to my only con: it can be too pigmented if not toned down with a tissue or something, because when it's not toned down, it looks too orangey. Other than that, it alone over chapstick brightens up my face. Plus, it goes PERFECTLY with my favorite Milani Luminous blush! My whole face is flushed with the perfect peach-pink glow with that combo. And top it all off with some Revlon Demure polish, it's beautiful! I'll definitely be purchasing this gloss again when I run out. ^^

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Commander in Chic
MissJulie89 10/20/2011 11:27:00 AM
Yep, I got this because of the hype. Oh, and the name. I love anything military-chic- colors, styles, what have you, so, yeah. Hehe. Not expecting this to be that great despite my shallow reasons for purchasing it, it surpassed all of my doubts. I am in LOVE with this polish. It's such a classy, sexy greige-taupe color. The formula for these Sally Hansen Complete Manicure polishes is quite amazing for the price. It's completely opaque in two coats. I'm on day 3 and no chips, and I use my hands ALOT for work and art. I did topcoat it, but I have polishes that chip much too quickly even with a topcoat. I don't even have any noticeable tipwear yet! Woo! I must say that I do love the oval-ish brush that most Sally Hansen polishes have. It fits my nails and aids in better coverage. I can't wait to try more of these polishes!

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
MissJulie89 10/19/2011 10:32:00 AM
Wonderful everyday mascara. My favorite mascaras are still ones that can create a dramatic look, but drama isn't something I want every day. This mascara is perfect for days in between having giant black lashes. Full n' Soft does create a nice, natural look without clumping or overexaggerating. That being said, I do have to apply kind of alot to get results, but even after several swipes it still looks soft and natural. I have this in the dark brown shade which keeps my already brown lashes even more natural-looking. Its formula isn't too wet or dry, either. Another plus- this mascara has no strong fragrance. It's a relief to use a mascara that doesn't try to knock me out with strange perfumes (my favorite Express the Colossal smells strongly of hyacinth flowers). All in all, this is a great everyday product for creating a your-lashes-but-better look. While it may not lengthen or volumize too greatly, that's the whole point. I highly recommend this to those who want to avoid "drama." ^^
