Skincare - Body -Alba Botanica - Moisturizing Cream Shave
rated 5 of 5

UPDATE: I still love this product, but I've found a cheaper knock-off that I love more. Trader Joes makes a honey mango shaving cream that's very similar to the Alba...the textures just slightly slimy, but it makes no difference in performance. =)

Love, Love, Loves! I've been a loyal Aveeno shave gel user, but wanted to find a more natural product and found it! I have *super sensitive* under arms, so when it passed that test I knew I found something great. It has a thick, creamy texture which doesn't clog my Venus razor. It protects my skin from nicks and cuts, and leaves my skin super soft. It doesn't contain menthol, or other stingy ingredients, which is why I chose this product over the others in the healthfood store. I bought the Mango Vanilla scent which is.....YUMMMMMMMMMMMM...=) BUY! Link to product: http://www.albabotanica.com/?id=65&pid=116

THE best smelling body wash EVER! Delicious! And it's a great body wash...hydrating, rinses clean, and leaves skin soft. I also love the PearBerry scent and all the scents in the Hawaiian line, too. Alba scents are incredible!

Lotions/ Creams -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Un-Petroleum Multi-Purpose Jelly
rated 5 of 5
MegE 7/3/2006 11:10:00 AM

LOVE this stuff! I use to be a faithful Vaseline user, and applied it nightly to my lips and dry/flakey areas on my face. I never had a problem with it breaking me out, but I just began my quest to switch to organic/natural skin/bodycare and wanted something petroleum-free. To compare it to Vaseline, it's a bit stickier, but not an issue when used at night on the skin, and anytime on the lips. Now I want to get the Un-Petroleum lip balms!
Can be bought at any healthfood store.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Baked Eyeshadow Trio - Bronze Glow
rated 5 of 5
MegE 5/27/2006 5:18:00 PM

My Coloring: LLL, chocolate brown eyes and dark brown hair. I prefer neutral-cool colors and shades that are a tad warm, but not orangey.

At first glance, Bronze Glow trio looks very reminisent of the Summer Shades trio from '01, although BG is WAY better! The lightest shades are similar--sparkly/glittery champagnes. The middle shade and the deeper shade are where they vary, giving the edge to BG. The middle shade is a shimmery rose/bronze which I adore! Beautiful pigment and doesn't go orangey. The deep shade is a pigmented, lovely, dark cocoa/bronze shimmer. I usually apply it as a liner with the smudge side of my beloved Stila #28 Smudge Pot Brush. With this trio I achieve a shimmery bronze/nude glow to my eyes--very Summery. I finish the look with the duo blush in this collection--Pink Glow.

Scrubs -Alba Botanica - Sugar Cane Body Polish
rated 3 of 5
MegE 5/12/2006 1:23:00 PM

**Update 5/27/06** I'm upping my overall rating, because I tried mixing some with body wash and it rinses off better--still a tad vaseline-y, but better. The smell is divine and really growing on me. Although, I highly doubt I will repurchase as there are better products out there.

Original Review:
I just can't understand the raves for this product?! It *literally* feels like vaseline with some below-average scrubby particles going on, and it acts like vaseline when I attempt to wash it off--it doesn't rinse and makes my skin feel unclean! I actually had to use a netted lofa with body wash to scrub off the greasyness--twice! It has a honey/vanilla sweet smell, which I do enjoy. I do not recommend this product, and instead rec Origins Paradise Found body scrub.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Lay It On Thick Shea Butter Body Cream
rated 2 of 5

I like the texture of this and how it moisurizes but I CAN NOT get past the scent! At first I didn't mind it, as it reminded me of coconuts, but after awhile on the skin it turned into something horrid--very plasticky smelling!

Scrubs -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa I'm in the Mood for Scrub
rated 2 of 5
MegE 4/23/2006 11:23:00 AM

I will begin my review stating that I will not be buying a full-size tube of this (I received a mini size as part of a gift). Pluses: I liked how it lightly foams and cleanses the skin, while it exfoliates effectively, yet not harshly. It also rinses clean. Minuses: I don't like the scent--very ocean/clean/detergent smelling--it's strong and lingers on the skin. I also find it doesn't leave my skin all that moisturized/balanced and my skin isn't dry to begin with.

Treatments -Aveda - Sap Moss Nourishing Concentrate [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
MegE 3/25/2006 9:01:00 PM

Leaves my hair shiny, healthy and bouncy. I just apply it before I shampoo, leave in for 2-5 minutes (on the bottle it says 1-2 min.) and then shampoo and condition as usual. I use it every few weeks, or whenever I have something special to attend. It smells great--very Aveda! The only things I don't like is that is seems to make my scalp itchy, but I have a VERY sensitive, dandruff/seb derm.-prone scalp, so I do my best to avoid my scalp when applying. I also wish the results lasted longer on the hair--as after the next shampoo my hair is almost back to how it was pre-treatment. I'm not 100% sure I will repurchase based on those two faults.

Sunscreen -Sage - SPF 25
rated 2 of 5
MegE 3/19/2006 10:00:00 AM

This was my first introduction to Sage products back in the Summer of '01. I used it for a few years and liked it. The texture is thick, but I was able to blend it on with out much of a white cast and it controlled oil and helped my m/u last longer. Then when I purchased another new bottle, my skin began breaking out in cysts and clogged pores. I didn't imagine it could possibly be the Sage, as my skin use to love it, but sadly it is. I'm thinking it's the Titanium Dioxide, but not 100% sure. Since May '05 I've been wearing Clinique's Repairwear SPF 15 Lotion daily (contains Zinc Oxide, no Titanium). I'm 3/4 the way through my 2nd bottle and my skin has never looked better. (please see my review for more info.) So if you're acne-prone, I would be careful with the Sage SPF. I do LOVE her other products, which are my HGs! (see my notepad for the list)

Treatments -Orly - Cuticle Therapy Creme
rated 5 of 5
MegE 3/5/2006 4:39:00 PM

Thanks to this amazing board and reviews, I found my HG cuticle cream! It's very hydrating to the cuticles, and I also continue rubbing it on my hands and elbows too heal dryness. It's not greasy and can be used anytime during the day. My nails look healthier and feel stronger since I started using it. Before this, I had problems this winter with my nails cracking and splitting. It's enriched with avocado oil, squalane, allantoin, and Vitamins A & E. Has a light floral scent, which doesn't bother my nose, although I would ideally prefer unscented. My 2oz. container will last a very long time and the best part is that it's so inexpensive for such a high-quality product (~$5 US). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Skincare - Body -Lubriderm - Skin Nourishing Moisturizing Lotion with Shea and Cocoa Butters
rated 1 of 5
MegE 3/5/2006 10:00:00 AM

How I wished I had access to the web while in Target and staring at this product, as I wouldn't have bought it. It sucks. It has a an OK scent of cocoa butter, but it doesn't moisturize very well and my skin is left dehydrated a few hours after it's applied. Highly DO NOT recommend. I prefer Nature's Gate Neroli Orange and Chocolate Mint Body Lotion. I'm on my 3rd or 4th bottle and it's smells and moisturizes fabulously. Also, it's not too pricey and it's easy to find in most healthfood stores. Makeup Brushes -Stila - #28 Smudge and Line Brush
rated 5 of 5
MegE 3/2/2006 10:37:00 AM

I agree completely with StrawberryT below... This brush makes applying gel e/l a breeze. Previously I was using my Stila #4 brush to apply my Smudgepots and BB Gel E/L and never got a perfect line everytime. With this new #28 brush I do! I even sometimes use the smudge side to apply my regular e/s damp for a thicker line than I get with my usual MAC 226 (?) slanted brush. I don't know if this brush is LE, but I hope not. Stila really needs this brush in their regular line. Yes it's pricey, but if you use gel e/l regularly like I do, that it's a must. =)
