Love the color, not the texture. This eyeshadow is a true brown with golden sheen. The texture is inferior to some other MAC shadows like Sable and Satin Taupe. Mulch's texture is a lot stiffer, so it doesn't glide on as easily as others. This is supposed to be "velvety" versas "frosted" for satin taupe, but there's nothing velvety about Mulch.
Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler
MakeUp4Fun 9/7/2010 4:00:00 PM
This heated lash curler WORKS. I bought mine from Amazon for about $12 and is white and blue in color. I have straight asian lashes and needed waterproof mascara to hold the curls. This curler solved the issue. I don't like WP mascaras because they take too much work to remove even with a proper eye makeup remover. I can now use regular mascara! I first curl with shu umera curler, then non-WP mascara, and use this heated curler for a few secs after the mascara is dry. The heat feels very gentle. I don't think this damages the lashes at all. One thing to note though. Some mascaras do NOT work with heated lash curlers. The heat melts the mascara right off. I find that most mascaras work though. The one i use now is CG lash blast and this curlers work well with CG LB. It doesn't work with MAC Zoom Lash. Do NOT comb this curler through your lashes. Just press it up.
Toners -Thayers - Alcohol-free Witch Hazel toner with aloe vera
MakeUp4Fun 9/1/2010 6:37:00 PM
Very good basic toner. No harsh ingredients. I use the fragrance-free version. Love it! Rose petal one smells too strong. I love that this toner gets rid of flakey skin without being harsh. Aloe in this moisturizes my skin a little and preps my skin for retin-a.
Cleansers -Kanebo - Kracie Naive Facial Cleansing Foam - Pomegranate
MakeUp4Fun 9/1/2010 6:09:00 PM
This is a pretty standard inexpensive foaming cleanser. It does not remove makeup well. Not even foundation, let alone eye makeup. But it does not dry out my skin. Just very basic cleanser. I finished up a tube and have one more stocked up at a sale. I will not repurchase as there are many other cleansers in the market to try.
This is a really, really good foundation. It applies like a dream and provides moderate coverage. It does tend to cake up at the end of the day which is why I rate this 4 lippies only. I hate that it doesn't come with a pump. I paid $11 for a pump from nars website ($6+shipping) and it works. BUT the original black cap would NOT close once the pump was screwed in. So my foundation bottle looks like an open bottle on my vanity. And because of that, i cannot carry this with me when I travel. I so so wish that the original black cap will fit over the pump. It will look soo sleek on my vanity! Oh well :( The shade "Santa Fe" is the closest match to Revlon PhotoReady in "004" which is NC25-30.
Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Silky Eye Shadow - Luscious
MakeUp4Fun 8/26/2010 11:13:00 AM
One of my absolute fav e/s ever! I normally wear neutrals. This color is a neutral purple and is surprisingly suitable for work. It's a slightly frosted deep purple. It goes on very smoothly. Lasting power is not as good as MAC but not horrible either. It's $10 at VS stores but VS often renames and repackages their products so this may be hard to find now. Why does VS always do that with their makeup line?!
Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Mineral Eyeshadow in Confident
MakeUp4Fun 8/25/2010 1:19:00 PM
Great neutral color: deep brown with shimmer but shimmer isn't over the top. Appropriate for office as well as for smokey look for night time. Lasting power isn't great, but what can we expect from a $3 shadow? I do recommend this if you're into mineral shadows and don't mind the messy jar.
I've been using this for about half a year. Great coverage, spread so easily, and result looks nice, nice, and nice!! I got this when it first came out and consistently used this until I got NARS sheer glow, which is a better foundation for me. But i still do use revlon PR on work days when i don't need to look that good. At a recent visit to my dentist, I wore my revlon PR foundation and she commented that I'm using a "SPARKLY moisturizer" X-( So I have to knock off a lippie to 4 lippies. I do not want glittery skin! And also, I recommended this to a friend and she started using this. One day under the sun, I noticed major sparkles on her face! After that, I decided not to use on sunny days. And I will not be repurchasing.
Moisturizers -Garnier - Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream
MakeUp4Fun 8/23/2010 12:00:00 PM
Like other reviewers, I bought this as an alternative for Clinique Moisture Surge. In my experience, it's not a good dupe but it still does the job. It does include alcohol which is a downside to this product. Lots of cheap moisturizers that claim to be "light" tend to have alcohol in it and it dries out the skin. I find that it's way too minty... it leaves a cooling tingling sensation for a few mins after I apply the gel. But the mint is not strong enough to stop me from using it. I love that it feels so light on the skin and still moisturizing. I use it on top of Retin-A and it works fine. But I'm not used to using a minty moisturizer, so I knocked off a lippie. The jar is glass so it feels luxurious at such a small price tag ($7.99 at most drugstores for 1.7 oz jar and $6.99 at Target. You may be able to print out a $2 off coupon from the web... just google it) Don't peel off the plastic wrapping on the jar because the label is printed on the plastic cover rather than on the jar. This might be the BEST moisturizer for oily skin that you can get from drugstores! I am not sure if I will repurchase b/c of the mint factor.
Absolutely LOVE this brush. Although this is a blending brush, I use it as an all-over wash brush because the bristles are dense enough to pick up enough pigment and pack on the color. I have MAC 217 (blending brush) and 234, but I keep reaching for this brush instead! That's how much I like it. MAC 217 works much better to blend out harsh edges, but this brush is amazing to pack on color. I need to buy back ups in case they change the design.
Lip Treatments -eos - Smooth Sphere Organic Lip Balm in Honeysuckle Honeydew
MakeUp4Fun 7/20/2010 5:00:00 PM
This lipbalm tastes too sweet and is heavily fragranced. Plus, it's not moisturizing. I love the packaging and the way it clicks to close, but the sphere shape is too awkward to use. I can't get a precise application, and it didn't work to apply my upper and lower lips at the same time. I'm quite disappointed in this. I think it will last me a long time, but I will not repurchase.
Cleansers -L'Oreal - Go 360 Clean Deep Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin
MakeUp4Fun 7/15/2010 2:02:00 PM
Wow, this stuff is amazing. I'm a long-term user of Cleansing Oil to remove face makeup and a separate eye makeup remover to remove eye makeup. And now I'm converting to use this cleanser alone to do both jobs. It removes every trace of makeup!! It doesn't sting my eyes or blur my vision. I use it on my dry face them clean it off with water. It's VERY effective to remove makeup, better than japanese cleansing oils, IMHO. I'm very impressed. I have combo-oily skin (also starting out Retin-A) and this does not dry out my skin. My skin doesn't feel tight at all after washing. It has a milky thick consistency (like handsoap-thick but milky) and doesn't foam up, which is a good thing because foaming cleansers tend to strip away too much moisture from your skin. When this cleanser gets into my mouth, i can taste the saltiness. I'm not sure what's in it, but it does not sting my eyes. AT ALL. I hope L'Oreal will never discontinue it because its the best drugstore makeup remover I've used, and i've used a TONS. I find the scrublet to be a little useless.
I bought this at 75% off from sephora because they were getting rid of Cargo. At the price i paid for, i have no regret. It lifts my lashes like a waterproof mascara and I can achieve natural looking lashes. I cannot achieve dramatic lashes, however, i can follow with another coat with a more dramatic mascara. I think it's not reasonable to pay full price for this because it's really nothing special. It does make my lashes healthier but not longer. I've been using it for over 3 months for everyday and nothing dramatic happened to my lashes. Packaging is not that great. The handle of the wand part came off loose. That had never happened to any mascaras I've used -- not even drugstore mascaras. So that's a failure on Cargo's part.
Concealers -Revlon - Age Defying Moisturizing Concealer (New) [DISCONTINUED]
MakeUp4Fun 7/9/2010 12:29:00 PM
I've been using this for a few weeks and I must say this is THE HG concealer for me. I have way too many concealers in my collection, and I will list them below. This revlon concealer is superior to any of them (mostly from dept store)! I also like Revlon Spa concealer (twist pen) but it contains too little product. Now onto the product...
It's a full coverage concealer that is long-wearing and moisturizing at the same time. It rarely creases once set with powder and it lasts all day. It doesn't disappear throughout the day like other concealers i've tried. It just looks and feels so GOOD on. I'm NC25-30 and uses the color MEDIUM. It's about $10 at drugstores and i think it's very cheap for the amount of product you get. I'm soo loving it!!
Other concealers that I have that are inferior to this IMO: - Benefit Erase Paste (fades quickly) - Laura Mercier Secret concealer (fades quickly) - Benefit Boi-ing (creases badly) - MUFE Full Cover (too drying) - Lancome Effacernes (too drying) - Neutrogena healthy skin concealer (too sheer) - Maybelline 24hr stay concealer (too drying) - NARS concealer stick (too drying) - VS concealer (too sheer and watery)
Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Wear Infinite Waterproof Eyeliner, Espresso
MakeUp4Fun 7/8/2010 4:22:00 PM
Perfect color (brownish black), smooth, and long-lasting. That's all I look for in a good eyeliner, and this is it! I used to use 2 MUFE eye pencils, but now I've coverted to L'Oreal because it just goes on more smoothly and lasts longer w/o wearing off.
