This color looks frightening in the tube, but it looks lovely on me (NC43/CCC, brown eyes, brown-black hair). It just brightens up my lips, and makes them glow. Not at all garish. Packaging is fine, although I prefer brushes to doe-foot applicators.
Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Violet Ink Long-Wear Gel Liner
KillerTofu 12/30/2004 1:06:00 AM
I love how longwearing this stuff is! It doesn't smudge. I put it on my lower inner rims one night and expected the worst, but it didn't go anywhere. And the Violet color does wonders for my medium brown eyes.
Lipstick -Shiseido - Sheer Gloss Lipstick in Honey Tea [DISCONTINUED]
KillerTofu 7/16/2004 7:15:00 PM
I love this lipstick! I love the color, the texture. Oh yeah, and the packaging is sharp! It feels smooth on the lips, and although sheer, the color is intense, if that makes any sense. It's softly intense. The only thing I don't like about it is the price (around $19 USD, I think), but I found a way around that. I bought it on eBay for $4.99, brand spankin' new! Definitely a staple in my makeup bag.
The consistency of the shower gel was okay, but the scent was pathetic. If it didn't say "Funnel Cake" on the label, I would have no idea what it was supposed to be. It smelled nothing like sweet, deep-fried, powdered-sugar-dusted dough. It just smelled like vanilla extract with a little plastic accord. Atrocious.
Gels/Soaps -Primal Elements - CupCake Shower Gel (Glitter)
KillerTofu 3/13/2004 1:46:00 PM
Eww...I didn't like this at all! I was expecting it to smell like Primal Element's Cupcake candle (not unreasonable), but I was disappointed in that arena. While the candle has a believable cupcake scent with notes of butter and vanilla, the shower gel was mainly fake, plasticky vanilla. It was very runny, and glitter? Why?
I so wanted to love this. However, I was very disappointed. I liked the smell (subtle grapefruit), but the texture was horrible! It was thick, almost like paste. By the time it wore off, my lips actually felt rougher than before I had applied this. And at $17 a pop, it's simply not worth it. Maybe I got a bad jar, but I'm not going to shell out to find out.
PROs: I love the creamy lather, and that it's fragrance free. CONs: It's BAR SOAP! Bar soap is notoriously drying (yes, even this "Extra Mild" soap), and the ingredients that keep it in its bar form can clog pores. And it's $11 for incredibly basic soap.
Cleansers -Dove - Facial cleansing cloths - sensitive skin [DISCONTINUED]
KillerTofu 12/29/2003 1:08:00 PM
I like these. I agree that they are too big; cut them in half and they're perfect! They feel so good for my face and the ingredients are awesome (vitamin E, chamomile, green tea, aloe). They seem to soften my face, and while I wouldn't call them hydrating, they definitely don't leave my dry skin as parched as most cleansers. Too soon to tell, but probably HG material here.
Gels/Soaps -Dove - Moisturizing Body Wash - "Deep Moisture"
KillerTofu 12/29/2003 1:03:00 PM
I'm not a fan of the scent (fruity/floral/baby-powder), and while it certainly looked moisturizing when I poured it on my pouf, it didn't feel very moisturizing an hour later. I didn't use any lotion, just to see how well this stuff moisturized, and my shins are just as nasty and cracked-dry looking as usual. I'll use it some more to see if it gets better over time, but as of now, this is not a re-purchase.
Stinky!! Smells like rotten potatoes and garbage.
Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Cucumber Melon Body Spray
KillerTofu 12/12/2003 6:11:00 AM
This has been my signature scent for years. All my friends and family say that if they smell it on someone else, they think of me. I love the dry down scent. Like if I take a shower using my CM shower gel, and lotion with the CM lotion, and then get dressed, the smell of my clothes when I take them off at the end of the day <--that smell, right there! LOVE it. When I first heard of it, I said Cucumber Melon?! EW! But it's so lovely. I know some people think it smells like sweetened salad, but I always get tons of compliments when I wear this (just using a shower product and then the lotion is enough to last all day. The spray would be overkill, in my opinion), I guess it just depends on individual body chemistry.
Lip Treatments -Bath and Body Works - Milk n' Cookies Lip Balm SPF 15
KillerTofu 12/12/2003 5:31:00 AM
First of all, this lip balm smells nothing like milk and cookies. It smells like Play-Doh. It white, with little black "Oreo" bits in it that scratch you as you apply it. I don't know if they're supposed to be exfoliating or what. Basically they're there just to annoy me. The texture is awful too. It's too waxy, and not emollient at all.
I have the Green Apple, and it smells delicious, only it doesn't taste so great. It is shiny, and quite runny. Not very impressive.
I have the shower gel and body lotion, and I love the smell of it. I hate florals, but I like this. It smells innocent, if that makes sense. And sometimes when I'm lathering up in the shower, my nose even picks up a slight hint of carrots. I just wish there was a creamy body wash, one that was more moisturizing.
Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter - Brazil Nut
KillerTofu 12/12/2003 5:15:00 AM
First of all, I love the smell of this. It's rich, creamy, nutty, caramel-y, slightly sweet, and totally addictive. Every time I went into The Body Shop, I would open the tester of the Nut Body Butter and inhale deeply. On about the fifth time, I said to myself "This is ridiculous". So I bought it. Since I've used this as a foot cream, hand cream, and body cream. It's nice and moisturizing, and not too greasy. The only problem is that a couple times I've used this as a hand cream, the drydown scent smelled like tires. Weird. Oh well, I'll probably repurchase this until they stop making it.
