Treatments -Creative Nail Design - Cuticle Eraser
rated 5 of 5

This is a product that deserves every bit of hype it gets! I have a nervous habit of kind of picking at the sides of my thumbs at the cuticle. Because of this, the skin there gets really dry and ragged. I keep a tube of CE on my desk at work, and whenever I'm on hold or whathave you, I take a minute to rub a bit of cuticle eraser around my nails. A few applications, and my cuticles are back in shape. I'll never be without CE.

Polishes -Misa - Merry Widow
rated 5 of 5

FiveZero's description of this color is spot on. Merry Widow is such a fantastic, complex shade. Definitely unique! I love bright pinks for both tips and toes, and Merry Widow will surely become a favorite of mine even after Summer is over.

Polishes -Essie - Jam N Jelly
rated 5 of 5

This is a must-have, especially for a bright pink polish junkie like me! On my pale neutral skin, this makes a great manicure or pedicure. Very summery, and I love the shimmer. I only need 2 coats to get a nice opaque coverage.

Polishes -China Glaze - Flying Dragon

This is a *wow* color! A beautiful rich purple with blue and red glitter, and it is lovely. This is one you keep admiring when you're in sunlight. The application is ok---don't get discouraged on coat #1, things will even out after the 2nd layer. Yes, the neons dry matte...but a topcoat (which I'd apply anyway) solves that problem, and gives it the gloss it deserves. I would actually give FD a 4.5, as removal is a royal pain in the you-know-what, but I chose to round up rather than down based on what a fun color it is.

Polishes -OPI - Chick Flick Cherry
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 2/12/2008 10:31:00 AM

This is such a lovely red. Generally I'm drawn to shimmery polishes, but this creme is positively beautiful. 2 coats is great, 3 is better...such a smooth, non-streaky application. I'm neutral/slightly cool, very fair. It's deep, but not vampy or brownish. It's a perfect rich red. I'm a lover of reds so I'm not afraid of them, but IMO this is a great shade for those who find reds intimidating to try out. It's not screaming "look at my red nails!", it says "sophistication".

Polishes -Essie - Huckle Buckle
rated 3 of 5

This is a "fun" color for me. True, it's very sheer. I've said before, if a polish isn't at its best by 3 coats at the most, it's not for me. And truthfully, even after it builds to an opacity I'm happy with, it makes me look a little....well, dead. But this one is great for a layered effect. I tried it out over pale blues, purples and pinks...as well as regular blue and black....a different look with all, and all are interesting and fun!

Polishes -OPI - Cozu-melted in the Sun
rated 4 of 5
KatieLynn 1/17/2008 10:56:00 PM

I was nervous about buying this n/p due to the fact all the reviews gush about how great it looks on warm skintones. I'm neutral, but lean toward the cool side. I was very happy to see how pretty my hands looked with this on! It's a pretty pinky-coppery-champagney shade, and a nice 'better than neutral' to have in my collection. So as long as you're not too cool (haha), give Cozu-melted a try!

Polishes -Misa - Cherry Topping
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 1/16/2008 3:49:00 PM

I love my reds, and Cherry Topping is among my faves. Before I ever saw it, I knew it had to be mine based simply on its name. And what a fitting name it is! CT is a lucious neutral-to-cool toned cherry red...the jelly finish makes it seem just like pie filling. A great color for both tips and toes!

Polishes -Essie - After Sex
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 1/10/2008 11:51:00 PM

Usually I'm not much of an Essie girl (they're usually streaky) but After Sex is one of my very fave polishes. On my pale, neutral-to-cool toned hands, it's a rich, deep raspberry. It's the perfect balance of red and berry, and looks great on both tips and toes. The color was surprisingly non-streaky even after just 1 coat, but of course 2 or 3 makes it absolutely perfect.

Polishes -China Glaze - Ravishing, Dahling
rated 3 of 5
KatieLynn 12/27/2007 6:57:00 PM

Oh, how I hate ruining a product's perfect record! I'm a huge China Glaze fan, and was really hoping that RD would be fairly similar to Essie's Wicked. The color in the bottle is to die for, a beautiful deep darkish red. Sadly, RD is one of the streakiest polishes I've ever owned. Generally, I'm happy if a polish gives good coverage in 2 coats, but will apply 3 if that's what it takes. After 3 coats, RD was still nowhere near close to it's bottle color, and very uneven. I just don't have all day to sit around applying 4-5 coats! I'm glad some people are getting it to work, I wish I could.

Tools -Diamancel - #2 Medium Nail File
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 10/30/2007 4:42:00 PM

Such a fantastic product. I *thought* 79cent emory boards were fine...but then I tried this, and I'll never go back. It takes just a few strokes to get file and shape. I can't get over how I can shape so well, yet not lose the length of my nail. I also wish they had a true travel size. I pray I never lose this file! :)

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 4 of 5
KatieLynn 10/30/2007 4:21:00 PM

Very good mascara. No clumps. No flakes. Nice solid black color. Lasts all day. Love the vivid orange tube.

So why just a 4? Because I see absolutely no difference between Lash Blast and Volume Exact, which is considerably cheaper. I'm not disappointed that I bought LB but, knowing what I know now, I'll stick to VE.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 10/17/2007 12:28:00 PM

I'm so glad I took the (expensive) plunge and tried this foundation! I've almost ordered it online a few times, but selecting a color kept putting me off. I was worried that 20 would be too yellow, but it is actually one of the best foundation matches I've ever had (a more exact description of my coloring is in my notepad). It really does apply like a second skin, and just doesn't cake. I have normal skin, and this definitely gives me a "dewy" look---almost too dewy in fact, so setting with powder is a must. The bottle design doesn't bother me; my hands/fingers are small enough to dip into the product deposited in the top.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Lift Concealer
rated 3 of 5
KatieLynn 10/15/2007 4:56:00 PM

I'm not quite sure how this product gets such lofty reviews. I'm very underwhelmed at the capabilities of this concealer, personally. Seeing that I have very minimal undereye discoloration, you'd think this product would do the job, but no---so how it covers for those who actually have something major to cover, I don't know! It doesn't crease, I will give it that...but there is no coverage, so I'm not surprised. I've tried multiple layers, different application methods, to no avail. I'm scratching my head on this one.

Polishes -Sinful - Bermuda Sunshine (125)
rated 4 of 5
KatieLynn 10/4/2007 10:50:00 AM

Such a pretty color, like a pink pearl. The brush is a nice size and gives a great application. I think I'm most impressed by how streak free the application was--even 1 coat looked good (though 2 or 3 look better). This is my first Sinful purchase, but it will not be my last. Edit: last time Walgreen's had Sinful BOGO, I picked up San Francisco and a beautiful pale peachy pearl. I didn't look at the shade's name til I got home, and was surprised to find it was...Bermuda Sunshine! So I have 2 bottles, 1 pinkish and 1 peachish. So just FYI, there's some inconsistency. Both are beautiful though!
