Blush -Bare Escentuals - Warmth All Over Face Color
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 1/9/2012 11:25:00 AM

I bought this when it came out decades ago. I remembered that it looked really natural at the time but I hated the packaging. I bought it again to try it on top of my beloved Summer Bisque. I have concluded that the shade is exactly the same as when I blush naturally. It beats all of my blushes in pink and orange as they look a bit unnatural but this is a soft and pretty. Thanks BE-

Powder -Neutrogena - Mineral Sheers Compact Foundation ALL
rated 5 of 5

I have tried a lot of mineral makeup brands from Everyday Minerals to Jane Iredale. I have to say that these are one of the best. They are expensive but that is because of the quality. They do not make my skin itch as other minerals and they stay put the whole day on my oily skin, which is a huge blessing. They look great in the pics despite their spf. I highly recommend these minerals to oily skin gals-

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Hot Tools - Ceramic Titanium Professional Curling Iron
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 12/12/2011 4:40:00 PM

I have tried a lot of curling irons, including Chi, Conair, Jilberte and many others. Chi was okay but I think it was too much money and it took too long to warm up. The main issue with Conair and Jilberte from Sally's was that after a while, they start causing hair breakage. If you look at Chi and this iron, you notice an extra coating which looks like paint. On Chi's barrell, it is solid yellow and on these, it is solid purple. My experience tells me that this extra coating prevents hair breakage and makes a lot of difference. Gold and other metal barrells without the extra coating hold curls very well but at the end, they cause severe hair breakage so I do not recommend them at all. The curls with Hot Tools and Chi may not last a long time but here is how you can prolong it: After using the curling process with the iron, turn your head upside down and apply a hairspray. This is much better than damaging your hair.

Styling Products -Sedu - Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment with Moroccan Argan Oil
rated 2 of 5
Kathy123 11/23/2011 1:14:00 PM

I got a sample of this with other products ordered from Folica. Here is my independent take from Sedu products: Folica and Folica reviews rave about Sedu products because Folica somehow owns and has a great interest in selling these products. Sedu iron is nothing superior but look at the raves on the Folica's website. I think Sedu has manufactured great flat irons but they are the same as other irons out there such as GVP, CHI, Babyliss and etc. This serum on the other hand is nothing to write home about. It has Argan oil but then they are thousands of products in Sally Beauty Supply with the same description and much less in value. Also, it is questionable whether the saturation of oil in any heat protection serum would really help or actually damage the hair. My recommendation is to use Sally's Turn Up the Heat at 1/3 of the price of Sedu and your hair will stay healthier and silkier.

Cleansers -Olay - Sensitive Skin Foaming Face Wash
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 11/22/2011 2:26:00 PM

The first time I saw this, I said there was no way that this could get rid of my foundation. Wrong! This removes everything but it is very gentle. The great thing about it is that it does not overdry my skin like a lot of cleansers for oily skin do. My skin has a great glow after using this. I highly recommend this with people with oily skin-

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Generic Value Products Silk Remedy Compare to: CHI Silk Infusion
rated 2 of 5
Kathy123 10/16/2011 11:10:00 PM

I used to like this product because I did not know any better. This product no matter what made my hair look and feel greasy. It is a good duplicate of Chi's product but they are both a waste of money to me. Instead of buying this, consider Beyond the Zone, Turn Up the Heat. TUH not only protects your hair, but it also make silky AND NOT GREASY. Since I have started using TUH, my straightening time has become 20 minutes, which is 1/3 of what it was when I used other products. My hair is much healthier as well.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Generic Value Products-GVP 1'' Hair Straightener
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 10/10/2011 12:24:00 PM

I have tried a lot of flat irons, from Conair to Solia. I have also owned a CHI for several years now. My CHI is 2 inches and make my hair pin straight, which is not necessarily what I want to achieve at times. So I bought this to compare with my CHI and how good it is to my hair. Honestly, this is a much better product than CHI. I do not use the 420 degree temp althought my hair is pretty stuborn. I use it at 306 degrees and with one swipe, my hair is silky smooth: no curls, waive or frizz. By tilting my hand, my hair gets body and shine. I use this along with Paul Mitchell Straight works. I wash my hair twice a week. I dry my hair completely and then go over the small sections with this iron. The styling time is within 15 minutes. Retouching my hair takes seconds. My hair has a tendency to break but it does not with this iron. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Concealers -Sephora - Perfecting Cover Concealer
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 10/9/2011 8:05:00 PM

Finally, a concealer that spreads beautifully! I have tried a lot of concealers, from MUFE Fullcover to drugstore brands like WetnWild. I have to say most of concealers are just thick and do not blend well. They end up looking too cakey, especially if you are covering acne. This covers very well without looking odd. This product has a lot of benefits. It has peptide and it is oil free. I sometimes apply this to my whole face. Although my skin is super sensitive, it does feel and look great after hours of wearing this concealer. This is definitely a God sent for oily skin. No grease, no irritation even after 10 hours of wear. Update: Now, I have been wearing this for years and I am still very happy about it. For oily gals, this is the only product that does not oxidize.

Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Moisturizing eye makeup remover liquid
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 10/2/2011 10:22:00 PM

OMG, what is up with the negative reviews here? This is a great moisturizing eye mu remover that is much better than high end products like Estee Lauder. In fact, it is one of the best in the market. It gets rid of the waterproof mu easily and without causing any irritation. I used to use Maybelline's but I think this one actually does a better job in keeping the area around my eyes hydrated. For the records, my eyes are very sensitive but this did not cause any irritation.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - Infiniti Spin Air Brush
rated 1 of 5
Kathy123 10/2/2011 9:49:00 PM

Let's start by saying that I like my hair so I will not use this product again. The design is indeed bulky and too heavy for the purpose intended. My hair is long and I liked the idea behind this product but when it came to using it, it was nothing but a disaster. First and foremost, this is supposed to dry and style. Well, for those who have a lot of hair, this is not even doable because it pulls and tugs and does all kind of tangling your hair. On the other hand, if you have a thin set of hair, stick with a curling iron because you do not want to lose the rest of your hair. Make the long story short, I have no idea what Conair was thinking when they came up with this product but it was a waste of time....

Powder -Neutrogena - Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation SPF 20
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 9/30/2011 10:57:00 AM

So the reviews about this product are all scattered under several titles. I used to use this product and possibly stopped using it because of the shade. I am not sure whether Natural Beige No. 60 is new or not but it seems to work for me. I use Tan No. 80 as the bronzer and for contouring and I am all set. The minerals are finely milled and do not make me uber shiny which is a huge plus. I have tried majority of minerals and although majority have been friendly on my skin, they faded or melted within a couple of hours. This in comparison really lasts. So for those with oily skin, this is possibly the answer to your prayers. For those with dry skin, you need to moisturize as these may be a bit dry for you. Overall, the coverage is fantastic and it does not oxidize. No zits or break outs or irritations like itching either. Applying this product, just like all minerals, is very important. Get a good brush and you will love this. Highly recommended.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Temptation
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 9/27/2011 4:09:00 PM

Finally, a dark red lipstick that is bright and happy but not too blue. I am scared of wearing red lipsticks but this is the perfect combo for me. Majority of the dark reds are way too dark and not necessarily bright and cheerful. I am NC 30 and this looks great even without any eye mu. It goes well with my black hair and does not look tacky. The most important thing is that it lasts on my lips and when it fades, it does not look odd.

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 9/18/2011 11:09:00 AM

I am a product junkie and in fact, I have tried majority of the mineral makeups, from Youngblood (the very first company with mineral foundations) to Everyday Minerals. The purest minerals have no chance of staying on my oily skin. That is a given. It doesn't matter how much BE brags all over the media about its powders, the original formula causes itch in some of us and the matte formula looks too chalky. The rest of mineral companies depending on what they have added in their formulas may or may not work on different skins so I do not buy into the fact that minerals are pure makeup for everyone. BUT good quality mineral makeup looks much better than the traditional powders and definitely looks more natural than liquid, mousse, or cream foundations. It can look cakey if it is not applied right. Now, here is run down about L'Oreal's mmu: Certainly, this beats a lot of minerals in quality. For those with oily skins, this is possibly the best minerals that you can find. For those with dry skin, don' forget to moisturize and for those with sensitive skin, this is definitely better than BE and a GOD SENT. It is not shiny and it does not look unnatural. It is not itchy and the color selection fits majority of people. The color category designated by L'Oreal is also great in finding the right match. For those with yellow skin tones, thanks to L'Oreal, the shades are perfect for yellow undertones. I am NC 30 to NC 35 but I am not as yellow as MAC categorizes me so Buff Beige in Neutral tones is perfect for my skin tone. It looks healthy to the point and I do not need a blush or bronzer. Whoever designed the packaging must have been on drugs because I have no idea what they were thinking. The price is high compared to some of the mmu companies on the internet but over all, it is less than BE and Jane Iredale. My vote is that you should try this.

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Straight Works
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 9/16/2011 10:38:00 AM

My hair is pretty rebellious. It does the reverse of what I want it to do. Usually, styling my hair takes hours and gets me really tired and fed up. I use this on my damp hair and sometimes I add some Garnier straightening balm to it. I comb my hair and then blow dry it till it is completely dry. Then with a big curling iron, I go over small sections and make sure that the ends are curled. I do not care for pin straight hair. This does the job very well. In fact, by using this, my hair stays frizz free and smooth and straight and presentable until the next time that I wash it. I wash my hair twice a week. Although you should not use a lot of this product, for those who have a lot of hair, more product should be used.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Moisture Cream Sensitive SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
Kathy123 9/16/2011 10:31:00 AM

As a result of usage of Retinoid, my skin was partly dry and very sensitive. My normal skin is very oily but now I know how people with dry skin feel. Because of my acne scars, I have to wear a foundation and I know that in general foundations are not best thing for the skin. I wear this under my foundation and I am good for the whole day. My eyes are usually very sensitive to moisturizers but this is the only product that does not bother my eyes. Overall, I am very happy with the product as it says what it does. The only thing that I do not care for is the design of the package. You can lose and waste the product if you squeeze the bottle too much.
