Gels/Soaps -Yves Rocher - Jardins Du Monde - All Shower Gels
Kathe 9/8/2003 12:43:00 AM
I love all of Yves Rocher's shower gels, especially Chilean Nectarine and Mimosa. In addition, my girlfriend insists that their Lilac gel possesses one of the most wonderful lilac scents she has ever encountered. I have no problem with the flip-top packaging, and for a sale price of $3, these are terrific.

Conditioner -Joico - Daily Care - Leave-In Detangler
Kathe 8/18/2003 12:33:00 AM
I've been using this product on and off for years, and I always come back to it. It is a great detangler for my dry, fine, thick, naturally curly, color-treated mane. My hair is left soft, but not limp. Since I use heavy conditioners to provide moisture, Integrity's formula provides the protein. I've always loved Joico products, and this is no exception. There is no comparison between this and the unbelievably sticky drugstore detanglers I've tried.

Treatments -St. Ives - Hair Repair Intensive Conditioner Moisture Treatment
Kathe 8/16/2003 1:07:00 AM
I am a fan of St Ives products, but I cannot recommend this conditioner. My hairdresser was very surprised at the dryness of my hair after I been faithfully using this conditioner. Even after I combined this product with vegetable oil for overnight treatments, my hair simply became dryer. I thought that my once-a-month at-home haircoloring sessions were to blame, but after switching to Clairol and Pantene conditioners, my hair is much improved. I love the packaging, but can't recommend this product. However, my cat Elliott adored this conditioner and would literally lick it off my hair! I'm sure he would have given this product five lipsticks!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Wet/Dry Shadow in Skinlight
Kathe 5/18/2003 9:17:00 PM
A beautiful ivory-with-the slightest-hint of-peach shade! I am a brunette, brown-eyed PPP and have been using this as an e/s base since it first hit the market. This color also serves as a lovely matte highlighter on my prominent browbones. The application is sheer and silky. Other similarly-toned shadows tend to go on in a chalky manner, but this one apples beautifully. A winner!

Eye Shadow -Prestige - Sandalwood shadow
Kathe 5/17/2003 9:44:00 PM
This eyeshadow was a real find! A beautiful neutral shade for $4.00, and its lovely taupe-beige-pink shade looks like a $25.00 eyeshadow. My only complaint is that I feel the texture could be a bit richer and silkier. A great buy.

Eye Shadow -Prestige - Eye Shadow- Champagne
Kathe 5/17/2003 9:39:00 PM
This is a lovely peachy-bronze color, but, IMHO, is much too heavily frosted to be worn attractively over the entire eyelid, no matter what your age. I simply use a dot of this shadow on the center of my eyelid, as well as a dot on my cheekbone when I feel like shimmering a bit in the evenings. I do like the packaging, as the snap-shut flip top is much more convenient than a screw-on cap. Now, if a matte or sheer version of this product were ever produced, I'd be first in line at the drugstore.

Conditioner -Garnier - For Color-treated or permed hair
Kathe 5/7/2003 11:55:00 PM
This is a somewhat creamy but average conditioner. I do think that my naturally curly, color-treated hair needs something richer. I do like the stand-on-end bottle -- no more reversing the bottle overnight to get out every last bit! Why doesn't every manufacturer utilize this? I did rather like the strong fruit scent, but I could certainly see how the fragrance could be annoying to many people.

Shampoo -Sebastian - Potion 5 Shampoo
Kathe 5/7/2003 11:42:00 PM
This is a decent shampoo, but certainly not any better than many less expensive products out there. My biggest complaint? I can deal with its unattractive amber-brown color(which reminds me of iodine), but I simply cannot stomach its atrocious fragrance. I'm knocking off one lipstick because this product smells like Ajax Dishwashing Liquid. It kills me that this shampoo often comes packaged as a freebie with Sebastian's Potion 9 hair treatment, of which I am a fan. Let's hope this company chooses another GWP!

Mascara -Wet 'n' Wild - MegaWink mascara
Kathe 5/7/2003 8:59:00 PM
This is an average mascara, which applies with some clumping. It also has a tendency to smudge. There are much better formulas on the market for a couple of dollars more. I also must say I was rather surprised because, after about ten applications, the mascara brush broke off in the tube! I've been wearing mascara for over thirty years, and this was a first! Shocking!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
Kathe 5/7/2003 8:47:00 PM
My favorite mascara! The full, soft brush gives excellent coverage, and the mascara goes on very smoothly, making my short, thin lashes appear long, full, and soft. I wear contacts and have had no problems with smudging. Absolutely great!

Cleansers -Dove - Beauty Bar - Sensitive Skin
Kathe 5/5/2003 7:24:00 PM
This does a wonderful job of cleansing my somewhat oily, middle-aged skin. My skin feels totally cleansed, but never tight, dry, or otherwise uncomfortable. I wonder why women pay exorbitant prices for facial cleansers when Dove is around!

Mascara -Wet 'n' Wild - MegaLash Lengthening and Smudgeproof mascara
Kathe 5/5/2003 7:16:00 PM
I have been wearing mascara for over thirty years, and can honestly say that this is the worst mascara I've ever used. Reading the other enthusiastic reviews, I wonder if Wet 'n' Wild was experiencing quality control problems. The formula didn't smudge, but its consistency was both incredibly thin and incredibly clumpy. You couldn't pay me to wear this again!

Fragrances -J. Lo - Glow
Kathe 5/2/2003 4:56:00 PM
After smelling this by means of a magazine scent strip, I have to second the opinion of many of the other reviewers. It does smell like powdery soap (or maybe soapy powder) and would be most suitable for teens and pre-teens. The best thing about Glow is the bottle!

Fragrances -Alfred Sung - Pure
Kathe 5/2/2003 4:50:00 PM
One of my favorites! Light and airy, yet complex and sophisticated.(Do I sound like a magazine ad?) This is perfect for any type of occasion. It is delicate enough for day, yet striking enough for evening. I especially love wearing this in the summertime as an alternative to a pure floral or citrus scent.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
Kathe 4/30/2003 7:40:00 PM
This a a decent, basic moisturizer that is way overpriced and wildly overrated. I'll stick with the generic Lubriderm I buy at the dollar store. It is at least as good for one or two percent of the price.
