Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue
rated 4 of 5

I was late to the Light Blue party. I had a sample of it for a long time and finally decided to try it. My first impression was the this scent is too heavy to be named Light Blue. The cedar in the drydown in really amplified by my skin. I decided to spring for a bottle as I love the blue felt box and the rectangular bottle. This fragrance is very citrusy, refreshing and uplifting upon first spritz. It does stay that way for quite a while. Then, finally, the cedar comes in and it starts to smell like citrus mixed with incense and takes on a heavier character. It's almost paradoxical. How could something be so bright and crisp, yet so deep and heavy? I'm not sure, but that's how this fragrance wears on my skin. The lasting power is extremely good. I like to layer vanilla lotion underneath Light Blue to tone down the heaviness of the cedar. I would imagine that a citrus lotion would be nice to layer this scent with, as well. This fragrance is very similar to Moschino I Love Love, which is nowhere near as overpriced as Light Blue is. If you like I Love Love, you would like Light Blue and vice-versa. I would probably purchase Light Blue again (but not at full retail price), but I doubt I'll ever run out of it as I have so many fragrances.

Fragrances -Montale - Black Aoud
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 12/12/2007 4:58:00 PM

Black Aoud is *the* most beautiful perfume I've ever experienced. I say *experienced* rather than sniffed or smelled. That's because encountering Black Aoud is an experience. I've never said that about any other scent I've tried. Upon first spritz, I get a heavy dose of Aoud, which can be quite medicinal. I don't find it unpleasant at all. It's part of the beauty of this fragrance. The top notes quickly mellow into the most erotic and perfect combination of leather and roses. It's so sensual and gorgeous-the scent of a woman who has experienced life and knows who she is-not that of a teenager or a wallflower. It's the perfect combination of femininity, beauty, independence and naughtiness. Light and darkness flirt with each other. The drydown is softer and rosier than the heart of the fragrance. Going through each stage of Black Aoud is like feeling the effects of a drug that produces euphoria. This fragrance is a stunning masterpiece that transports me into another time and place. It's somewhere extremely pleasurable, optimistic and luscious-perhaps somewhere close to heaven. For all of the reasons mentioned above, I will never be without my Black Aoud.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - HOTPANTS Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 11/21/2007 4:25:00 PM

I absolutely love this eye shadow. I like Urban Decay shadows and pink shadows in general, but this one stands out. I think I like it even better than MAC Swish. It's a bit lighter than Swish. They're both HG's for me. I wear pink shadow almost every day and this is the one that I reach for the most. I love the medium bright pink shade, the consistency, the slight shimmer and the packaging. I just bought a replacement of this color and that's rare for me, as I have so many shadows that one rarely gets used up. This color looks really nice on blue eyes in my opinion. I will continue to re-purchase this shade as long as it's available and when it isn't, I will turn to my old standby...the 'bay!

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 11/20/2007 11:09:00 PM

I picked up this mascara on a whim at Wal-Mart when it first came out. The bright green packaging caught my attention and it was on sale, so I thought "Why not?" I tried the product in black and despite the negative reviews from others, I actually like it. I'm using this mascara every day and my Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara is collecting dust. This wasn't a deliberate switch. I just kept reaching for the Define A Lash and didn't even think about the Clinique Mascara anymore after it was my HG for years. I really like the brush on the Define A Lash and I don't really have a problem with the product causing clumps or drying too fast. I apply one coat at a careful pace and try to really cover each lash well. I then use an eyelash comb to separate, and clean up any smudges with a Revlon makeup eraser pen (excellent product, too, btw). I really love the way this mascara makes my lashes look. It's dramatic, but not over the top. It just defines them and makes them look quite long. I've tried many more expensive brands of Mascara, such as Estee Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, etc. and usually don't like them. The Maybelline Define A Lash is better than them all-at least for my lashes.

Fragrances -Paul & Joe - Blanc
rated 4 of 5
JennifeRx 10/31/2007 12:02:00 AM

I swapped for a bottle of this. I had never heard of it, but the reviews sounded interesting, so what the heck, right? At first, I didn't think it was anything special. Now, it has grown on me a bit. I like the bottle much more than I did at first and I appreciate the fragrance a bit more, as well. It smells strikingly similar to Frederic Malle L'Eau d'Hiver. It's very creamy and round, with no sharpness or rough edges. It could be someone's perfect comfort scent. Upping to 4 lippies. I'm not sure if I would buy it again, but it would either be this or L'Eau d'Hiver that I would make sure I had on hand at all times.

Fragrances -Moschino - Couture!
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 10/30/2007 11:44:00 PM

LOVE this stuff! I became hooked thanks to a sample from the lovely Gita1. This is the richest, most delicious and sensual fragrance I have smelled in a long time. I could not stop sniffing my wrist. I detect something fizzy like cola and something soft and delicious as well. My fiance loves it too. The bottle is a must have with the classy square shape and the gold heart cap with the red velvet bow. This is a great cold weather fragrance. I already got my bottle. I would repurchase.

Fragrances -Lacoste - Lacoste Pour Femme
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 10/30/2007 11:38:00 PM

I fell in love with this fragrance after it was discontinued. I found an old sample that I'd never worn and tried it. I was immediately intrigued. I detected a top note that smelled like pepper, then it dried down to a very soft floral fragrance. I ordered a gift set online and then went to TJ Maxx and bought another bottle for back up. This is a great casual scent and is the go-to fragrance for when I can't decide. It's a sporty and preppy scent to me. It's not a sexy fragrance in the normal sense, but I suppose it could be to some people. The smell of it is somewhat reminscent of the fragrance of Puff's tissues. This stuff has great staying power, also. The body lotion is nice and is great to layer with the perfume. The bottle is very understated and tasteful. It provides tactile gratification with the textured metal cap. I would repurchase. I don't understand why they would discontinue this stuff with all the rave reviews it gets.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Coconut Lime Verbena - any product
rated 4 of 5
JennifeRx 10/30/2007 11:13:00 PM

This scent is luscious! It's one of my all-time B&BW favorites! People always compliment me on it, too. This was one of the scents that I wore alot while I was pregnant as it did not make me sick. I have the splash, the the home fragrance spray, the hand soap, the body scream & shower gel. This scent is a real mood lifter and I find that it has good staying power for a B&BW product, especially if you layer it with the lotion. I never tried the EdT as I don't think their EdT's smell the same as the splashes and the staying power of them is no better. I think this is B&BW's best coconut fragrance ever. The others don't compare, not even Creamy Coconut.I hope they don't discontinue this one. I would repurchase if I ever ran out. If you're a fan of coconut/lime scents, try the Mia Bella Lime & Coconuts candle! It's out of this world!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Gardenia
rated 4 of 5
JennifeRx 10/30/2007 11:00:00 PM

This is a very pretty and refreshing fragrance. My fiance LOVES this stuff. I don't wear it very often because I have so many fragrances and many other gardenia scents. This is the one that made us realize that we love gardenia scents. This fragrance is not overpowering. It's very feminine and uplifting. I would probably purchase it again.

Fragrances -Bijan - Bijan Black for Women
rated 3 of 5
JennifeRx 10/30/2007 10:37:00 PM

This is a "nice" perfume. I wanted to smell Bijan Black so badly and when I finally did I was a bit surprised and disappointed. To me, it smelled very similar to Versace Red Jeans with that soft powdery floral character. It's an unoffensive fragrance and I see how some people would love it, but to me, it's boring and smells like deja vu. This can be found dirt cheap online or in stores. I think the original Bijan and Bijan Wicked smell much better and more original and Bijan Black.

Fragrances -Moschino - I Love Love
rated 4 of 5
JennifeRx 10/28/2007 10:15:00 PM

This is a very nice fragrance and I love the bottle. It does smell strikingly similar to D&G Light Blue. I love that initial citrusy blast. It's so energizing and refreshing. This and Light Blue both dry down like incense on my skin. It has great lasting power. I use vanilla lotion to soften the incense dry down. I Love Love is not as pricey as Light Blue, so that's a definite plus.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Un Lys
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 10/28/2007 10:11:00 PM

I received a sample of this in a swap. It's a very beautiful and feminine fragrance. It's a very smooth and creamy lily fragrance that has a very nice vanilla base. It's perfectly done. I love it. It's so gorgeous, I'm editing and upping the rating to 5 lippies. This fragrance seems perfect any time of year. I just got a larger decant and am loving it! I recently sampled Jill Stuart's Night Blooming Lily and there is a similarity, but Un Lys is a masterpiece. I found a Lily of the Valley scented body cream in a green jar at TJMaxx that seems as if it would be perfect for layering underneath Un Lys. For comparison's sake, my other favorite SL fragrances include Fleurs D'Oranger, A La Nuit, Daim Blond and Rahat Loukoum.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Fleurs D' Oranger
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 10/24/2007 6:08:00 AM

I received a sample of this in a swap as an extra and thought I'd died and gone to fragrance heaven! This smells so beautiful! This fragrance sparked my love for orange blossom fragrances. The composition is so glorious. I feel like it was created for me when I wear it. The orange blossom note is very bright. I can smell jasmine as well. I don't get much cumin on the drydown, but it can vary. I think it smells gorgeous in warm weather. Try spraying it in the crook of your elbow after you've been warmed by the sun. Be careful not to over spray, as this juice is potent-what's perfect with one or two spritzes can be deadly with 3. In summary, I will say that this was my first Lutens purchase as I don't regret it. Whenever I think of my all-time favorite fragrances, this always comes to mind. I believe it is sunny femininity in a bottle.

Fragrances -Guerlain - Samsara
rated 5 of 5
JennifeRx 10/24/2007 6:05:00 AM

This review is for the EDT. Samsara is absolutely divine. It's definitely a cold weather fragrance. It has that quality about it that just lures you in and is so comforting. Methinks it's the sandalwood. I can't wait for it to be cold enough to wear it this year with some cozy sweaters. Samsara is like an old friend that you haven't seen in ages but love and when you finally see them again, it's like they were never gone.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Body by Victoria
rated 4 of 5
JennifeRx 10/24/2007 6:01:00 AM

This is a very clean and fresh scent with some sex appeal to it. It's not your typical citrusy clean smell. It's more feminine and unique. It has great lasting power. I love the bottle. I would get lots of compliments when I wore this. I can't compare this to any other fragrance, because to my nose, it's unlike anything else. I would repurchase if I ran out.
