Sunscreen -Klorane - Polysianes Creme Veloutée SPF 50+
Gimferrer 7/24/2008 10:28:00 AM
I have tried this today. I think the Fragrance ruins this sunscreen. The smell of Coconut Oil is frankly awful, smells like a cheap sunscreen. Passed that )if you can that is) is decent. the finish is non whitening and non greasy, however as I found out when I have used high SPF it´s impossible to have a perfect and elegant sunscreen, they all have something, in this one is the Shine, shine though is my least of worries because I can use any pressed powder, what I don´t like is the stickiness. Í am not prone to clog pores because I have a dry skin, I have also a very resistant skin and most Oils here won´t cause any side effects but if you have sensitive skin or prone to clog pores I would avoid this Sunscreen. 50ml. INGREDIENTS: Water(Aqua). Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate. Octocrylene. Cyclomethicone. Methylene Bis-benzotriazol Tetramethylbutylphenol (TINOSORB M). Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (TINOSORB S). Butylene Glycol. Glycerin. Ethylhexyl palmitate. C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate. Potassium Cetyl Phosphate. Glycerin Stearate.Cocos nucifera. Gardenia tahitensis Flower.Copolymer. benzyl silicate ...there are a few more Fragrace too I just couldn´t read the rest as the characters are too small :( so sorry. Also as far as I could see there is no Avobenzone (Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane )

Cleansers -L'Oreal - De-maq'Expert Elixir Concentrate
Gimferrer 7/21/2008 5:45:00 AM
*De-Maq Expert* Elixir Concentrate Ultra Make Up remover (For Waterproof & long lasting cosmetics) Satin-Soft Touch Face, Eyes & Lips. 100ml. Price- £6.99 .......................................................... The product texture is like a thick Gel, not as runny as Oil Cleansers and you really need very little for the whole face. I am not keen on the Fragrance, it's not overwhleming but I would be happier if It didn't have any at all. Then again is not as overpowering an Olive Oil cleanser like DHC but not near as nice as my *HG* Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil (that has jojoba oil) I apply a little with a dry face and dry hands at night spread in my whole face and neck , wet my hands and put the hands on my face, I don't massage just a contact for the Cleanser to disolve with water and then I rinse with a Cotton wool and takes as little as my DIY Cleanser. It doesn't dry my skin which is nice. I was looking for a cheap alternative to my Oil Cleanser and a replacement for my holidays, this is great because the package is handy for traveling and not a hassle to carry around, the top closure and size is made in a way that it won't spill at all and can be fit in any cosmetic wash bag. The way it works is like any Oil Cleanser and removes it all. Sunscreen as well as all Make Up, the whole process takes me maybe 1 minutes or 2 at the most. The downerlike many have mentioned before is that leaves a film in my eyes that dislike but I was adviced to use a wash cloth or a muslin cloth for the film to disappear :) Will buy again, recomended for the rpice and package ;) ........................................................................... INGREDIENTS: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (is an oily liquid made from Coconut Oil), Isohexadecane (high quality iso-paraffin mixture), Ethylhexyl Stearate (A natural fatty acid and emulsion stabilizer), Glycerin, PEG-20 GlyrerylTrisostearate, Dicaprylyl Ether (high-spreading emollient), Aqua/Water, PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate (water soluble derivative), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), CI 47005/Acid Yellow 3, Parfum/Fragrance, Benzyl Salicylate (It is used as a solvent) Benzoyl Benzoate (Organic Compound), Hydroxycitronellal (clear to yellow, oily liquid), Cintronellol (fragrant chemical), Limonene .

Moisturizers -La Roche Posay - Mela-D Daily depigmenting care SPF15
Gimferrer 7/18/2008 5:30:00 AM
OK, I bought this because I want to fade some sun damage and some aging spots. I don't belive though that this alone can do anything, pretty much any product is useless used alone, unless is Sunscreen I was simply looking for a moisturizer to boost and help my skincare routine with my Sunscreen and Tretinoin. Also the fact that it has SPF 15 / PPD11 was a good catch for me as well. Now the product is a mess. I applied this Moisturizer and it balled up like crazy, it didn't sink in my skin at all, I felt like I used this and as I was puting it on it balled up so it was comming off again. They say it's a good Make Up Primer.... Well this is rubbish to be honest. Also like the previous reviwer has statated the Kojic Acid is at such low place in the list that is very unlikely that is an active ingredient and will help, even mildly. I like La Roche Posay products, specially Sunscreens but this is just plain useless and I am guessing it's expensive too (don't know it was a present) I won't buy again. For a lightening product is much better to use a Serum with Kojic Acid like Garden Of Wisdom or SkinCeuticals Phyto+ . OVERALL: This wants to do too much and does nothing because wants to be like a Sunscreen but for that is useless because the protections is weak. As a moisturizer is just not good enoguh for me. As for fading spots... you can dream baby this won't do a thing. I preffer to use a Sunscreen a lone, as a moisturizer any one will do and as a skin lightener look somewhere else ;) -------------------------------------------------------------------- MELA-D *Re-Unifying Anti-Brown Spot. Lipstick -Max Factor - Plush Blush #630
Gimferrer 7/7/2008 5:21:00 AM
I found my Drugstore Holy Grail *Nude* lipstick ! Always looking into expensive and High End brands and at the end Max Factor (a brand that I never cared for) had the right Nude ;) for me. Although it was under the shades for Blonde and Fair skins (which just make people confused as a shade suited for blones or brunettes doesn't extists in my book). The TEXTURE is very creamy, not drying and well pigmentated a la par with Guerlain Lipsticks or Lancome. and less rich than Chantecaille so it doesn't dry my lips at all. and it goes very smooth on my lips, doesn't make it sticky or overly matte, just polished. The COLOUR is Nude with a Rosie undertone (more pink than peach) is very similar than Lancome Defile Rose and Guerlain Beige Nude but overall I preffer Max Factor. [For reference The picture up there is very acurate] The PRICE is very good a la par like L'Oreal or Revlon or any Drugstore brand. Will defenetely re-purchase as I struggle to get a Nude for daily wear and it's a shade that it's just so darn hard to get it right that is my HG ;) Lovely ♥ --------------------------------- Similar Lipstick shades: Lancome *Rose Defile*, Guerlain *Beige Nude* [550] and Rimmel Volume Boots *Glam*

Hair Color -Clairol - Loving Care ] [DISCONTINUED]
Gimferrer 6/30/2008 9:39:00 AM
My hair is dark brown shoulder length , dry and very frizzy, used to be chemically treated for 20 years or so at the Saloon or at home with Garnier or L'oreal Excellence. As a result my hair became dryer and dryer as well as very bad and as I was never very good at doing root *touch ups* made always this process a mess all over with results that didn't last and made my hair not very nice and a lot dryer in the long run. I came across this Product because I wanted to go black, not pitch black but very dark bron and this give me an option to try it w/o makeing my hair a mess as it claims it lasts from 6 to 9 Shampoos. The packaging is awesome as their is no developer, just like a shampoo that I applied with the providen gloves and a plastic hat. I used it at first 30 minutes on and the hair came dark brown but not black (I bought BLACK shade btw) and it covered up all my roots very well ! which I was delighted about ! as this is maybe the gentles DIY I have seen. Next time as I came here and read what Surrealmeal and Delenn did I followed suit and used it 1 hour. The result was so lovely ! I mean the exact black shade I always wanted AND as a result of the gentle method my hair is much better now that is not treated with harsh ingredients. I used it at firts as a colour test and I ended up using this forever because not only covers my roots and leaves the hair shiny it also lasts me more than 9 washes. And like a few say when the colour fades, fades nicely and even, I would recomend this to anyone who likes gentle DIY aproach and also results. I wish I knew about this many years a go ! as before I used other *Natural* DIY hair colour and I truly hated them. This leaves my hair with a lovely colour and great shine and in the long run my hair has benefited as it's not as dry as it was. Oh and to prevent it from fading I use a Sodium Laureth Sulfate free Shampoo (there are a few, I use Terax Collagene...) Delighted xoxoxo

Lipstick -Rimmel - Volume Boost - Hello
Gimferrer 6/18/2008 4:36:00 AM
Oh ! I bough this after a MUA friend recomended me this shade. It's sooo pretty and so nice ! There where a Deal (But 2 get 3) and bought this along with *Parade* this is almost the same shade as Parade but a tiny bit more red undertone to it and Parade a bit more Pinky beige. Both Neutral and Nude colours. It has a slight shine to it but nothing like a Gloss or sparkle, very very subtle. When I tried it on in my hand and in my lips at the shop I didn't see anything special, is when I went out and I saw the colour in the Natural Liht that I realized how beautiful this is !! Such a moisturizing Lipstck ! Like the other reviewer I don't care about the Volume, it's just a Marketing word imo. This shade would suit anyone as it's universally flatering. For everyday wear this is fantastic. Make my lips look polished and fresh. ♥

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
Gimferrer 6/16/2008 7:05:00 AM
UPDATE: I have bought since Chanel Pressed Powder Universelle #Peche 50 and I must say that the colours of Maybelline are much much better and more forgiving as for the quality Chanel is good BUT maybelline is just better, when I use it the Powder doesn't fly everywhere like Chanel... I wish they change the Package though. is the only Powder I hit pan twice ! .................................................................. Or I buy the most expensive High End or the cheapest... There is nothing that feels better than buying a cheap MU that works and feels lovely on the skin I bought shade 02 (Ivory Rose) is nice Neutral undertone with a hint of Pink indertone , the next one was a bit too yellow /orangy mask on me.The reason I bought this is b/c I wanted a Pressed Powder that would matify the shine I have left on my face after applying a Sunscreen. So I only use it for that not for full coverage. I love it ! although like most reviewers the package is truly a nightmare, the sponge is rubbish but I use a MAC #187 brush to apply that I only need to use it once a day and stays put all day long. ---------------------------------- Skin Tone: MAC NC25NW25N6. Sunscreen -Boots - Essentials SPF50+ Sun Lotion
Gimferrer 6/10/2008 8:16:00 AM
Boots *Essentials* Sun Lotion SPF50+ HIGH 5 Star UVA Water Resistant. - 200ml - £2.99 - PPD 30 - Fragrance Free - Well this is a rather hard review. Would I recomend this to anyone? No. Is this cosmeticaly elegant ? No. Why ? Because it's very very rich, you apply the correct amount 1/4 tea spoon for the face and 1/4 tea spoon for the neck and it's a reminder of Avene spf 50+ cream SS (ugh), yes, feels greasy, feels uber shiny and also sticky. After 15 minutes though the white cast has alomst gone, the stickyness sort of disapears after 30 minutes or so as for the shine...well I reach for Maybelline Dream Matte Pressed Powder or MAC Blot Powder and my face looks decent. Now why do I give 4 stars? Because although I love La Roche Posay Extreme Fluid SPF50+ makes my skin dry by midday and as I'm using Tretinoin Gel 0.1% it's a mess to re-apply a moisturizer or SS. I didn't have any hope with this, I didn't even want to buy it but £2.99 is a sin not to. Specially since has both Tinosorbs and one is so high up on the list and also is Fragrance Free (nice!). Sometimes during the day I touch up with Powder but this is more a hobby than a necessity :) To my surprise after I used my Pressed Powder I didn't have any flake or dry skin all day long, the SS as well as extremelly protective is very moisturizing (Shea Butter on it) and didn't feel greasy or dry at all. It is a hassle to put it on, everything about it for the first half an hour is vile but the results I get from it after all day long using this, it's a keeper. If a fancy house like Bioderma or La Roche Posay made this at £20.00 people would buy it, people would moan about the finish like me. But hell I feel so protected with a PPD30 that I will be stocking up. ............................................................. Fragrances -Annick Goutal - eau d'Hadrien
Gimferrer 6/5/2008 3:01:00 PM
Today arrived this on the Mail and I can't remember last time I felt so special and fortunate about a Fragance. The Box is so cute and so French and the inside it certanly made my heart beat faster than any given morning...a liitle golden pouch....How many Frags have that sort of package? I haven't seen any... and the Bottle is so beautiful and classic in the real sense (this is EDP for Woman btw not the bottle that is above which is the Men's Fragrance) . I was just simply tired of Calvin Kleins, square bottles like Chanels and funny colours in Purple...about Celebrity Parfums that stink , This is sooo sweet and so lush and so different and harder to get so chances are not many will smell like you do, where I live most wear Chanel. Well not me :) The Fragance itself is *expensive* feels and looks the part. Is a fragance that I could use for the rest of my life and be happy to settle there too. It's funny b/c they had this bottle over the weekend in Selfridges (London) next to another much loved fragrance, Orange Verte by Hermes (summer is here) so I smelled them both and I though heck just for a change I will get Goutal is cute and smart as well as fresh... Anyway I am not apoloigizing for my *very long* and not very hepful review but a Fragrance is an abstract feeling and you can't judge it by obvious results...It smells like everyone has said previously and because I am an expat I appreciate this Fragrance when I close my eyes and when I feel depressed this makes me feel uplifted alonmg with a Double expresso very short and very loaded. Yeah ! Well I almost got Eau de Rochas $ (b/c is the cheap chearful version of a citrus fragance, $$ Hermes Orange Verte but the lasting power was so little that I wantend to try this on and see....as if I will buy it again ? yep! I have my eye on the Butterfly Bottle if I run out sooner than though... I must ask the ladies in the Fragrance Board for a Winter Fragrance soon... they never get it wrong :) ------------------------ Similar fragrances: Eau de Rochas by *Rochas* ($), Orange Verte EDT *Hermes* ($$), Christian Dior Eau Sauvage ($$)

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - A-Ret (Tretinoin) Gel
Gimferrer 5/29/2008 6:31:00 PM
I am 43 years old and have sun damage as well as wrinkles so I use this for both. RETINOIDS HISTORY: Previously I have tried OTC : Retinol 0.5% (Skinceuticals) which was useless, moved to Retinol 0.1% (Skiceuticals) gave me the *worse* reaction my skin has ever known (is it evil, see reviews of how many people had reactions to that) anyway...let me to even believe I had a Sensitive skin (haaa !) and went to tube of Diacneal (Avene) which didn't do anything either...I know many would argue that you don't need to see the face peeling to know it's working but hell I am 43 I have no patience to waste on irritation or usless Retinoids....so I took the Baumann book and my skin has turn out to be very resitant....So I jumped to Prescription Retinoids (thanks to the skincare board help and guidance ) Used Tazorac (two tubes) from ADC and my skin didn't see anything at all, no side effects but no improvement either. Went to the derm and has a Px for Retin A 0.5% Cream (I am not acne prone) and used this with no visible effects either...still use it because now I belive it takes up to one year to see results, however I haven't peeled or flaked or anything after 2 (30 mg tubes). I use a BHA Toner to enhace the penetration. A-RET 0.1% GEL: a very kind MUAer gave me this in a Swap I fell in love instanly... the texture is lovely and it has been worth to wait and have many trials to get this ! It is STRONG, very strong ! But I love it ! I have a Resistant Skin and many products won't have an effect on me which is a pain in the a**..I dilute still b/c I don't want a face like a lobster and reaching for healing creams (not if I can help it he he...) but I will do it straight when I feel more confident :) . So far I use it every night . but for the first week I used it only every other night for my skin to adjust to this. My skin looks the best it has ever been lately, looks bright, soft and a few heavy wrinkles I had are 20% gone maybe more I do not know , I still have many around my eyes (Crows feet) but I laugh a lot and I am a very expressive person so they won't go away unless I stop laughing (which I won't do ever or use some Fillers :). But as I have learned is not about this alone but hand in hand with a very good sunscreen . I have sun damage and wrinkles as well as pores that I see huuuge but because I have never used many products I like to keep things simple and use a basic skin care routine because I have no patience and no much time ) so a routine while I use this is , although I am flexible as Winter my skin is more sensitive and Dry than in Summer. AM -Cleanse with MDForte III Glycolic Cleanser or Micellar Cleanser -Vitamin C Serum DIY (15%C ,2%E and Ferulic) wait 10 minutes or Phyto+ fro sundamage -Sunscreen: La Roche Extreme Fluid SPF50+(PPD28) or Sofina PM Cleanse with an Oil Cleanser wait 1 hour Dilute 1 pea size of 0.1% Gel with a serum (B5 Gel SkinCeuticals) ........................................ Hair Styling Tools -GHD - Original GHD Hairstyling Iron with Ceramic Technology
Gimferrer 5/21/2008 7:02:00 AM
♥ well...I doubt I will have to buy this product again because mine has lasted so far more than 4 years and is the Rolls Royce of Hairstyling Irons. Nonetheless I put yes on buy again in case it get stolen or I leave it in a room hotel he he Everytime I need to make my hair sleek this is so handy and easy, get heated in a couple of seconds and ready to go. Leave my hair more shiny and smooth than any cream/ conditioner or watever, even though is not a good idea to use it everyday (even with protector sprays) for an ocaninal use the is just in a league on it's own.

Skincare - Face -Skinceuticals - Phyto+ (previously Primacy Phyto+ serum)
Gimferrer 5/15/2008 5:26:00 PM
UPDATE [October/30/2008] I have used a second bottle and the results have been minimal or nil. My guess is that this product it's brillaint for tackling sever sun damage and brown spots as you can tell that is working as the skin darkens before gets lighter. But in this 2nd. bottle the results were not dramatic nor improved so after my 2nd bottle I will discontinue this :) But I do recomended to anyone with sun damage and aging spots. ________________________________________________________________________________ This should be the star product of skinceuticals instead of the C+E Ferulic. because has done much more for my pigmentation and overall skin tone that C+E. has done in 3 months. This alone might not be enough to treat pigmentation, pregnancy & aging spots but it really helps as in 4 weeks my spots are fading ! Having said that I also use Retinoids (Tazorac and Retin A 0.5%) and AHA cleanser that deals with sun damage and above all a good Sunscreen (by good I mean not below spf 50+ and a PPD of at least 8). Soooo bearing all that in mind this is lovely and also contains hyaluronic acid which means that I skip B5 gel :) I recomend this because also is Hidroquinone free and safe and the price knowing SC line is reasonable and hassle free ( no storing in the Fridge ). also there are just the right ingredents that have been listed somewhere below. --------------------------------------------- Skin Type Baumann DRPW. Usually problem free not acne prone.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL SPF 60 Fluide Extreme
Gimferrer 5/13/2008 9:52:00 AM
This review is for the SPF 50+ (Summer 2008) Well after a month using this is about time I review this fantastic Sunscreen. I didnt want to at first because I wanted to make sure it didn't brake me out as some other have done previously and my skin could tolerate such high SPF and PPD. On that part I am delighted which I am very pleased. Because a good sunscreen that my skin and I like is almost impsossible to find, kid you not. I am very picky when it comes to Skincare, specially Sunscreens. Another reason I like this is because I like to buy my products as much as I can in the store or Chemist and try samples if I can before buying. So even though I have slightly Dry Skin I much preffer the Fluid than the Cream. (Creams in my skin feel sufocating, greasy and generaly tacky as well as impossible to use MU on top) another plus is that is FRAGANCE FREE. Now the texture: This is in the same league as L'Oreal Matte Fluid SPF 50+ Anti Wrinkle and Brown Spot (PPD20) only that the PPD of this is 28 (you pay for that too but it doesn't matter). Also I can compare this to Sofina Lucent that I ♥ for Winter (PPD8) but LRP is not that elegant as this is a tiny bit more shiny than Sofina but not as shiny as L'Oreal , also it has better finish than DiorSnow PA+++ because DiorSnow leaves a white cast (they call that skin whitening which is not and that has a 30 ml Bottle which makes this ridicolous and expensive if appled correctly - 1/4 tea spoon for the face and 1/4 tea spoon for the neck) The trick of using this is also remove it with an Oil Cleanser as this is waterpoof to fully cleanse the face & neck) and spread it well as the texture is a bit runny (feels like almost like an Oily water) and needs some atention to get the whole face well covered and protected. I will buy this again and again for Spring and Summer because it's easy for me to find, elegant (as much as a Sunscreen can be) I can use Make Up on top after let it dry for 10 15 mintes and it's wonderful although a but shiny but I rather deal with shiny than grease or white film /cast. I just can't use Cream in Sunscreen because they leave my face very shiny and greasy. From all the Sunscreens I have tried this is all around the best considering the fantastic protection this offers and the bottle is a 50 ml. which is great. I highly recomend this to anyone that needs a good protection, if in a sunny country has to be appled twice daily. -------------------------------- Skin Type: Baumann - Dry Resistant Wrinkled and Pigmented. Slightly Dry in Winter no acne prone and usually problem free.

Cleansers -MD Forte - Facial Cleanser III
Gimferrer 5/7/2008 5:22:00 PM
I must thank the ladies in the Skincare Board that recomended me this amazing cleanser. If I didn't landed there I would be still using bland and useless cleansers that remove and do nothing ! ♥ you girls !! I am joining the Fan Club ! This is a remarkable Cleanser made for Resistent Skins.. You have no idea how hard it was to finally find a cleanser that was made for tough skins . I use it AM leave in for a few minutes and rins off in the shower. Oh ! I must say that the Bottle is useless so I put it in a Pump Bottle of 50 ml. much better ! My skin feels so bright and so soft afterwards I have nothing else to add as everything has been said before in better words.
