Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly
rated 2 of 5

I gave this two lippies: one for the luscious black currant scent (think You Snap the Whip), and one for Lush's innovation. I really love how they make products that are just so unique. Unfortunately with innovation comes occasional failure, and this product is one such example. It is IMPOSSIBLE to hold! My boyfriend even tried it and could not hold onto it. Try holding a slick piece of Jello in the shower and it will save you the expense of buying this product. If you can hold onto it for a second, it appears to have lathering qualities, but basically this entire tub was wasted - down my drain as soon as I got it in my hand. I cannot tell you how frustrating that is. And yes, I did chill it - it merely prevents it from melting quite as quickly, but nonetheless it still melts. Do not waste your money on this - the new buttercreams are where it's at!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - You've Been Mangoed bath melt
rated 2 of 5
FireKittenEMT 11/30/2005 8:28:00 PM

I didn't think it smelled like a Mango, and I hated the way it made my bath so greasy. This was my first bath melt, and since then I have been avoiding that whole section! The bath bombs are just as moisturizing without being so oily.

Conditioner -LUSH - Coolaulin conditioner
rated 4 of 5
FireKittenEMT 11/30/2005 8:22:00 PM

Coolaulin has been my regular conditioner since I first tried it 6 months ago! Sure, some days I need a deeper conditioner (like after major styling or a long motorcycle ride), and I have Retread and American Cream for that. But for a great daily conditioner, you cannot beat Coolaulin. Yes, it feels like it's too light when I put it on in the shower, but that's because my hair drinks it in! It leaves my ringlets shiny and coconut scented, and even on the days when I straighten my hair, it keeps it bouncy and healthy. I buy the gigantic bottle of it because I would hate to be out of this haircare staple. The only reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 is the lemon oil. I use Redken ShadesEQ (semipermanent) to color my hair dark brown, and this conditioner definitely contributes to it's premature lightening.

Shampoo -LUSH - I Love Juicy
rated 5 of 5
FireKittenEMT 11/30/2005 8:11:00 PM

THE BEST. I was a die-hard Pureology user until I took a chance with I Love Juicy. I have a somewhat oily scalp but color my hair, so I was worried about over-drying. Not at all! It cleans my long, thick hair thoroughly (and deliciously) with only a small dollop so it saves a lot of money. Also, used in conjunction with Coolaulin conditioner my hair is shiny, silky, and smells like ambrosia! I am hooked on ILJ.

Masks -LUSH - Cosmetic Warrior Mask
rated 4 of 5

Ewwwwwww - why in the world would I want stinky garlic and eggs on my face? Because it chases all of the blackheads away!! This is some powerful stuff. I bought this last week at the Beverly Hills Lush, as the salesgirl there implored me to ignore the smell and keep an open mind because everyone who has tried it has raved about it. Well, she was right. My skin is super soft and completely spot-free (even though I got my period 2 days ago!). I am buying another pot in 3 weeks when this supply runs out.

Shampoo -LUSH - BIG
rated 4 of 5
FireKittenEMT 11/30/2005 8:01:00 PM

I have hesitated for about a year on buying this. I got a sample of it from the Manhattan store, but it wasn't enough to really cover my long, thick hair. I finally bought a tub of it and so far I am very pleasantly surprised! The large chunks of salt dissolve quickly and OH MY does this shampoo lather! Not sure if I like the scent, but once dry it goes away and allows my yummy coconut conditioner (Coolaulin) to leave a fragrant aroma in my hair. My hair does look shiny, but I think it's the same as it looks when I use my normal shampoo (Cynthia Sylvia Stout). I like it a lot, but to keep my hair moisturized I intend to keep this as a weekly clarifying treatment, not my daily shampoo.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Ruby Red Slippers
rated 4 of 5
FireKittenEMT 11/27/2005 11:56:00 PM

I used the entire bar all at once and lost myself in a red pool of softly scented bubbles, but you can get 2 to 3 uses out of it easily. I do not care for floral scents usually, but the subtle rose and carnation scent made me feel feminine and relaxed. The glitter is only on the top layer of the bar, so if you are concerned you will come out looking like a raver covered in sparkles, fear not. I was worried that the red water would stain the tub, but it rinsed right off without me even needing to wash it off afterwards. Not a holiday scent - I hope this becomes a permanent addition to Lush's collection!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Black Pearl
rated 5 of 5
FireKittenEMT 11/27/2005 11:46:00 PM

If Capt Jack Sparrow smells anything like this I want to devour him. Smells LUSCIOUSLY of black currants! The bathwater turns a sparkly grey and yes, there is a ring around the bathtub, but it washes off easily so no worries. I loved this bomb, and was pleasantly surprised when I got out that my moisturized skin had subtle silver sparkles here and there. Will definitely buy this one again to use before going to a Christmas party.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Randy Buttercream
rated 5 of 5
FireKittenEMT 11/27/2005 11:41:00 PM

Randy Buttercream IS AMAZING! Smells like honey and caramel flan, and softened my skin in a way the soaps just can't come close to. I was in the bath with this buttercream when my boyfriend popped his head in and said the whole room smelled like honey. =0) My skin is soft as a baby's now, and smells like something you would want to eat for dessert! I read on the Lush website that it smelled bad of alcohol but I don't detect that AT ALL. I am going to stock up on this Xmas product!

Deodorants -LUSH - Aromaco Deodorant
rated 1 of 5
FireKittenEMT 5/4/2005 7:21:00 PM

This deodorant was raved about by the salesgirl, so I gave it a try. First of all, it smells like a patchouli solid perfume, so if you don't like that scent, stop right there. Second, it did nothing to deodorize (and there is no anti-perspirant in any of Lush's deodorants, so forget about that too). Third, it is actually painful to apply! It's a really thick bar so it scrapes up my skin and doesn't glide on easily at all. I finally just gave this to my boyfriend (who whined about his underarm hairs being pulled out upon application) and I eventually had to ask him to stop wearing it, too because the scent was WAY too strong. He would put it on one morning after showering and the next morning as I woke up in his arms I was choking on the patchouli fumes still being emitted from this stuff, 24 hours later! I'll stick to Lush's Teo deodorant, which I adore.

Conditioner -LUSH - Jungle
rated 2 of 5
FireKittenEMT 5/4/2005 7:16:00 PM

Am I just missing something here? Everyone seems to love this except me. I was hesitant to try a solid conditioner but I travel a lot and the portability would really be convenient, so I tried it. When I applied it in the shower, it didn't feel like I had enough in my hair, even though I could see streaks of it! I rinsed it out and could tell immediately that it wasn't as soft as usual (my usual favorite is Pureology). My boyfriend said he couldn't really smell anything in my hair, and neither could I. Perhaps because my hair is color treated it didn't work very well with my hair. But my hair type is normal and it's in healthy condition, so I don't see why that should make a difference!

Cleansers -LUSH - Fresh Farmacy
rated 5 of 5
FireKittenEMT 5/4/2005 7:03:00 PM

I've been using this for the past two weeks and I feel like my skin is glowing with healthy radiance! I have combination skin, more on the oily side, and this is just right for keeping blemishes away without overdrying my skin. I have noticed, however, that I do have to use a heavier moisturizer, though. I used to use Proactiv repairing lotion daily, but now I only use it once or twice a week because it leaves me with some dry spots when I wash with Fresh Farmacy. I'm now currently using Clinique dramatically different lotion after washing with FF and they make a PERFECT pair! My skin is completely clear, softer than usual, and like I said it seems to have a natural glow even without makeup! Just be sure to keep your bar dry after use - leaving it in the shower will make it melt away too quickly.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Rock Star
rated 3 of 5
FireKittenEMT 5/2/2005 12:06:00 AM

I bought this because the Creamy Candy bubble bar is one of my favorite Lush products and this is supposed to be scented like it. Well, it doesn't really smell like it! When I got home and unwrapped it, my boyfriend and I said the same thing - it smelled like the cherry air fresheners used in public bathrooms! NOT A SAVORY SCENT. Still, I cut off a tiny sliver to try in the shower and much to my relief the potent cherry scent really calmed down a lot in the water and began to resemble candy a lot more. This soap, like most of the Lush soap bars, does melt away very quickly so I've found that it helps just to cut off what you need for each shower and then storing the remaining bulk in it's wrapper in a cool, dry place.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Chai shower gel
rated 2 of 5
FireKittenEMT 5/1/2005 11:49:00 PM

I was all set on buying this shower gel because I'm crazy about the scent of chai tea lattes (cinnamon and vanilla... mmmmmmm...) but received a rude awakening upon opening this. It has a very strong spicy scent that I just can't stomach day after day, and the scent seems to linger so it conflicts with my perfume. I much rather prefer Lush's soaps that contain a subtle amount of fragrance as opposed to this overpowering shower gel.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Pied de Pepper Foot Cream
rated 2 of 5
FireKittenEMT 5/1/2005 11:34:00 PM

I admit, the cinnamon clove scent is delicious, and the lotion is soothing but 1.) it's way overpriced ($10US for a 3.5 oz jar) for what you get out of it and 2.) you don't get enough out of it! Feet that work extra hard (I dance and do martial arts) need a MUCH thicker lotion than this. I even tried slathering it on overnight and covering my feet with wool socks but it still didn't soften my rough soles. Also, watch out for this brown tinted lotion because it will temporarily discolor fabrics (usually comes out in the laundry). *HINT: For a cheaper and more effective product to soften tootsies, try Vermont's Original Bag Balm ($6 for a giant 10oz tin!) at your local pharmacy.
