Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - AHA Souffle 12 percent Glycolic AHA
FastKitty99 5/16/2008 5:21:00 PM
Unfortunately this product is too irritating to my skin for use on a consistent basis. I tried applying it on alternate days, using it once a week, etc., but it still stings after I put it on. Other reviewers commented that the stinging goes away eventually, but I can't seem to get to that point. I also use retinol creams on my face so maybe this is what is contributing to the irritation? In any case, I don't think I will purchase this again. I'm not sure if it's made any difference in my case - I was hoping for smoother skin and tighter pores, but I haven't been able to use it consistently because of the irritation. I am having great results with retinol, so I will stick to that.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Loose Powder Eyeshadow
FastKitty99 5/9/2008 12:38:00 AM
Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I can't help but think that the reviewers below who say BE eyeshadows are hard to apply, do not blend, have no staying power, messy. etc. have not learned proper application techniques. I am not a fan of BE foundations, but I do enjoy using their eye shadows, blushes, and radiances. First of all, you MUST use a good primer, such as UDPP, but this is true of most eyeshadows in my experience. Without a good primer, the BE eyeshadows will crease and fade over time. Second, you MUST use proper brushes to apply the shadows or you will not get good results. I do like the BE eyeshadow brushes, Sonia Kashuk also has some good ones for much less $$$. Third, I highly recommend buying the BE kits, such as Get Started Eyes/Cheeks/Lips or Guilty Pleasures because the colors are designed to work well together and you don't have to guess what would look good on the lid/crease/brow. It also saves you money when you buy the kits. I have to admit that the retail price of $13 per shadow is a little steep, and I have paid full price for the shades I absolutely had to have (Celestine, Nude Beach, Queen Tiffany, Queen Phyllis). Check out eBay - I recently picked up a TON of BE eyeshadows at great prices! Overall, I LOVE BE eyeshadows. The range of colors and complexity of the shades are amazing. Admittedly, I have bought a few "duds," but most of these shadows are gorgeous, especially the glimmers and glimpses. "Foiling" adds a whole other dimension to these great shades. If you try them and don't like them, take a look at your technique, because once you get the hang of these, it truly does become an addiction and you will want to own many.

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Multi-tasking Concealer
FastKitty99 3/8/2008 7:20:00 PM
Outstanding concealer. I also tried Intensive Fair concealer by EM which I love, but I prefer Multi-tasking which matches my skin tone a bit better. My skin is flawless after I put this on, sometimes I don't even need to apply foundation over it. I always moisturize well and apply a primer before I put this on. EMs products are so inexpensive, I've been able to try almost everything they offer. I purchase a sample kit everytime I place an order with them so I can keep trying new shades (I adore their blushes). Great company, excellent products. This is my favorite concealer.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Big Fatty Lip Plumper
FastKitty99 3/2/2008 7:48:00 PM
Awful, simply awful! This burns like crazy, made my lips feel ultra chapped. I can't believe a great company like Urban Decay is putting stuff like this out there. I am not a super sensitive person when it comes to putting chemicals on my skin, but this is unbelievable. I love UD eyeshadows, but will definitely stay away from their lip products. A huge disappointment!

Eye Shadow -Everyday Minerals - Snowflakes

One of my most-loved colors from the EM Mini Eyeshadow Kit. Lovely lavender/violet shade, slight shimmer, perfect for everyday wear. I wear this one a lot.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - chocolate decadence
FastKitty99 2/25/2008 11:06:00 PM
This was an unexpected little surprise I found by accident on the Bare Escentuals website. Advertised as "an indulgent box of four creamy eye colors," I really could not resist. The 4 glimpse colors are Dark Chocolate, Caramel Delight, Mint, and White Chocolate. Also came with a mini quickie shadow brush, a very versatile little brush. I am quite pleased with all of the colors which work very well together in a variety of combos. I find the colors long-lasting and very flattering to my brown eyes. I like BEs glimpses because they have only slight shimmer and are suitable for everyday wear. The containers are extra small, but since a little is all that is needed, I expect these to last awhile. The colors are simply gorgeous!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Oasis Eyeshadow
FastKitty99 2/16/2008 9:56:00 PM
LOVE OASIS!!! I am becoming a bit of a Stila eyeshadow addict. My first purchases were Kitten, Cloud, and Wheat, plus I own several of their palettes. Others have described this color well, neutral peachy gold with a bit of shimmer. I love that I can apply this as a wash on days when I don't want an obviously made-up look. It also pairs beautifully with other shades of brown, green, plum, the possibilities are endless. Very versatile, I love this shade.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
FastKitty99 2/16/2008 9:24:00 PM
I have used this on and off for many years. Occasionally I'll stray and try some higher end brand, but eventually I realize that this mascara is superior. I generally don't like Maybelline products, but this mascara is truly exceptional. It gives long, lush lashes without clumping. It removes easily with makeup remover and I don't have any problems with it running or streaking. This is a staple in my make-up bag.

Moisturizers -RoC - Retinol Correxion Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Care - Night
FastKitty99 2/16/2008 10:26:00 AM
This is a highly effective product for a drugstore brand. I was contemplating going back to the dermatologist to get a prescription for Renova, which is also very effective, but $$$. Since using the RoC product, my skin tone has improved and my pores are less noticeable. I did use it for several weeks before I noticed significant results. Although MUA has this listed as a "moisturizer," I consider it more of a treatment. It acts as an exfoliator, and I do use a moisturizer in addition to this. Overall, this is excellent and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a smoother complexion.

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Intensive Fair concealer [DISCONTINUED]
FastKitty99 2/12/2008 10:12:00 PM
I must admit that I wasn't crazy about this concealer when I first tried it. It does cake easily if you apply too much. However, now that I have mastered a lighter application technique, I am really loving this. Covers my rosy, sundamaged cheeks and works beautifully on the eyelids as a primer. I am so happy with the EM product line. I have ordered many times from them, and think they are wonderful. I plan to keep on using this concealer, it's really fantastic.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Face Spray
FastKitty99 2/12/2008 12:41:00 AM
This was a bit heavier than I wanted for a moisture spray. It did give me some needed moisture under and over my mineral makeup, but I guess I was looking for something lighter. My skin is dry, so I do tend to moisturize a lot. Avene Thermal Water felt better, giving me a dewy, fresh look. Moisture Surge felt like I had a residue on my face afterwards. This was okay, but I have used better facial spray products.

Palettes -LORAC - Eye Candy
FastKitty99 2/12/2008 12:27:00 AM
I almost returned this palette to Sephora. I was initially put off by the smokey black colors, thinking that these dark colors would not work with my fair coloring. I am a sucker for silky smooth eyeshadows, however, and tried to make these work. The quality and pigment are outstanding. I use the light cream color as the base and the darker colors as a liner. Wow, really gorgeous. The turquoise blue is to die for. I also love the Merlot. Makes me want to try more e/s from LORAC. This set also came with a waterproof mascara and Midnight Sparkle eyeliner. The eyeliner is a little over the top for day use, but would be gorgeous for an evening out. For $35, this set was a bargain and I don't regret trying it. Definitely higher end quality, comparable with Stila and Urban Decay, two of my other favorites.

Skincare - Face -Avene - Thermal Water
FastKitty99 2/10/2008 4:22:00 PM
I tried Avene Thermal Water since the local Walmart has been out of Aquafina hydrating facial spray, my usual spray, for over a month now. Compared to Aquafina, the Avene mist covered my face better and was cool, refreshing, and soothing. It's great to use over mineral makeup and leaves my skin nice and dewy. It's a bit pricier than Aquafina, but overall, it's worth it.

Tinted Moisturizer -Neutrogena - Healthy Defense Tinted Moisturizer in Light SPF 30
FastKitty99 2/8/2008 9:28:00 PM
I love Neutrogena, but alas, I did not check with MUA before I purchased this. Agree with others about the orangey brown color. I am fair skinned, and even though I purchased "light," the color is way off. I liked the moisturizing effect, texture, SPF of 30, and the way my skin feels when I used this, plus the squeeze tube is great at dispensing just the right amount of product, but the color is horrid on me. I even used light colored mineral makeup over it to tone down the orange, but it just won't work. Too bad.

Treatments (Eye) -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - de-puff eye gel
FastKitty99 2/3/2008 3:04:00 PM
Two products I cannot have enough of are eye creams and lip balms. Needless to say I am on a constant search for the perfect eye treatment. This one was a disappointment. I know it is not an eye cream, per se, after all it is marketed to de-puff the eyes. However, I didn't notice too much difference after using this gel. Several times I used it when my eyes were especially tired or puffy, and although it was cool and refreshing, I didn't notice any big improvement. An ice cube held over the eye for a few seconds would probably have had a greater impact. I also agree with other reviewers about the dispenser. For some reason, the company designed the tube so that it is not tapered at the end, and if you are not careful, it is easy to dispense too much product which gets wasted.
