Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
Discod 11/11/2010 2:30:00 AM
Horrible, just horrible on my dry mature skin. I found pores I never knew existed! I don't even have large pores either. But this foundation seemed to find and highlight every minor line, crevice and pore I have on my face. I use a lighted and magnified mirror when I apply my makeup and I have to say this is one of the very worst foundations I have ever applied. I always use a moisturiser under a foundation, but even with adding a primer under this foundation made little difference to the final effect - it still appeared dry and sat in my pores highlighting them. From a distance the colour and finish looked OK, even acceptable, but not up close and face-to-face. I usually like Revlon foundations and use their New Complexion foundation most of the time. The only thing I like about PhotoReady is the pump. Would be nice if Revlon added this same pump applicator to their New Complexion foundation range.

Eye Shadow -Napoleon Perdis - Sparkle Dust in #7 Pink Mocha
Discod 10/19/2009 8:02:00 AM
Fabulous sparkle of pure gold mixed with pink - it's like golden fire in a jar! Can look golden or fiery depending on the light, the way you apply it and the base you use under it. Quite versatile. Can't fault this colour to add pop to the lid - lovely for green eyes with pink blush and pink lips. Because this is a full container and very little goes a long way it will last forever too .... 5 lippies from me.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bamboo
Discod 10/19/2009 5:32:00 AM
Lovely matte, ochre with tan (orangey-brown) in colour. Just a shade or two darker than my own skin, perfect for all over colour wash for my green eyes - A MAC neutral "must have" for those with Green eyes I think. Looks darker on than in the pan, very easy to buld, nice neutral shade that blends well. No fall out that I noticed and a perfect every day colour. I use it on the lid and crease, too dark for a highlighter on my pale skin.

Masks -Clinique - Total turnaround 15 min mask
Discod 10/16/2009 6:34:00 AM
This product is kind of useless, I'm not sure I see the point in using this "Mask". I put it on, it's thick and gooey and reasonably hard to spread, I left it on for 15mins, took it off with a damp cloth, and the result? It did absolutely nothing positive for my dry skin, it just made it more dry! Waste of money for me and won't purchase again as I could get a better result just using a foaming cleanser and a cloth.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Corrector Powder
Discod 10/16/2009 4:50:00 AM
This is a review for The Yellow Corrector Powder. This is a fabulous powder at a very reasonable price and the only face powder I use now. I was heatbroken when Innoxa changed the formula of their Translucent Powder in Light (which I used for many years) and this is the closest I have found to it in colour and texture here in Australia. Sits well on my Foundation and easy to apply which I do with a large soft Kabuki brush. Comes in a compact with a small mirror inside. Not a very flash looking compact, but I can live with that. I do hope Maybelline continue to manufacture this product as it's hard to find a Yellow toned face powder and most seem to be quite Pink and tend to change the colour of my foundation. Will keep buying this and always have 2 as backups just incase they discontinue it.

Treatments (Eye) -Clinique - All About Eyes
Discod 10/15/2009 8:32:00 AM
OK, just OK for my mature and dry skin - but only for day with no makeup either - it's better than wearing nothing I suppose. It's a rather ordinary product that is more gel-like than a cream - looks like gel mixed with cream actually and I've never been fond of gels for the face as they tend to dry out quite quickly once they are on the skin. Not moist enough for me for regular day wear under Makeup, and not rich enough for me at night, my Night Cream alone does a better job. Will not repurchase this product again.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Intensive Rescue Healing Foot Cream
Discod 10/15/2009 8:11:00 AM
Fabulous product. Slather this on after a Pedi and pop on a pair of cotton socks before bed and have lovely feet the next morning. It's more moisturising than regular body creams and lotions. I initially purchased this for my Mother after she broke her ankle and her foot was VERY dry after they took the plaster off. She was very happy with the results. Nice to use along with a foot rub because the product remains quite moist. Although it is a great product, I probably won't buy this again for myself because it is very similar in texture to Nivea Body for Dry Skin, and that I always have on hand in a larger more economical bottle.

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Dermo Expertise RevitaLift
Discod 10/15/2009 7:54:00 AM
Do not buy this as a Day Cream if you have dry/mature facial skin as it's not very moisturising at all, infact, the cream made fine lines of mine appear MORE prominent. Also, I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I very rarely break out these days and the day after I used this I had 4 pimples on my face. However, I used it on my neck and and it looked and felt great there - so it's not all bad. The other thing that is good about this product is the excellent packaging - it has a large pump which makes it very easy to extract the required amount depending on how hard you depress it. Other Companies PLEASE take note! I got this as a gift will not purchase myself unless I want a neck cream that is :)

Concealers -L'Oreal - Infallible Concealer
Discod 10/15/2009 7:08:00 AM
Far too drying for my dry skin. Left a cakey appearance and made lines more visible. I applied it with a brush and even smoothed it with my fingers - still no good, way too dry to blend. Only saving grace is the colour (Light Clair) which is quite good. May be OK for the younger ladies who like the convenience of a wind up and those who have a more normal or even oily skin. It was a freebie for me and I won't purchase.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Skin
Discod 10/15/2009 2:50:00 AM
This is the perfect matte highlighter for me - it's not too pink, it's not too peach, nor yellow or white - it's just RIGHT! Goes on like a dream, so easy to apply with a fluffy medium eye brush. I would describe the colour as just lighter than natural skin colour - on my lids anyway, and so blends into the surrounding skin seamlessly leaving just a hint of lightness. I dislike e/s highlighters that give you a painted sparkle white clown face as many seem to do on me (not a good look for the more mature Ladies!). I use it as an all over wash if I want a lighter eyeshadow base also. Nice as a light natural lid colour with browns, or any colour really. A very versatile shadow. Great for everyday wear, inexpensive and little to no fallout from the brush when applied, which is an added bonus. I've used it to highlight down the centre of my nose (just run a thin line down the centre with a small brush) and on my cupid's bow above the lip - lovely! (The photo of it beside the darker colour on here is a more accurate depiction of it.) This is my first NYX shadow and after this I intend to buy more.

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Bare Study
Discod 10/14/2009 8:33:00 AM
This has far too much sheen/sparkle in it for my liking. Great for the younger Ladies though, I'm sure. I liked the way it went on (I applied it with a small flat brush) and it kept my eyeshadow in place all day (but this has never really been a problem for me), but the sheen was too over the top. I'm going to try MAC Soft Ochre PP as base for my eyeshadow now as it is matte, because apart from the sheen of Bare Study, the product itself worked well.

Fragrances -Worth - Je Reviens
Discod 10/13/2009 1:04:00 PM
I've been wearing this fragrance since 1980. Soft, floral, powdery and a fragrance that is very feminine, womanly. It's like a step back in time - very 1930's, a classic like Chanel No5 (that's about the only other perfume that comes close to this IMO). I often layer this after using both the shower gel and body lotion. I'd describe this as an Old Fashion style Perfume. On the down side the EDT spray comes in a very ordinary bottle, rather plain Art Deco styled glass bottle with a black lid. However, the other Je Reviens bottles (such as that of the Perfume, EDP & Couture) are nice, and the packaging itself is quite pretty in bright Turquoise Blue with a gold cherub decorative feature. Some of the older (vintage) Je Reviens "Lalique" bottles are quite collectable. If you like a powdery, just washed fragrance like Chanel No5, White Linen by Estee Lauder or even Ombre Rose, then you would probably like this one too.

Lips -Vaseline - Vaseline

Perfect for keeping my lips moisturised at home and part of my night routine. Very economical as well. Good also on dry body skin - like the elbows and heels.

Palettes -Pop Beauty - Glow Belle 8-colour glow kit
Discod 10/12/2009 9:25:00 AM
Just adore this item! Because of the 8 different pale shades in the palette you can highlight practically any blush or bronzer without detracting from the colours you are using. It covers all the spectrums of colours that I use - yellows, peaches, pinks & the neutral browns. The powder goes on smoothly, is easy to blend and they have a matte to a light sheen in them (some with a little more sparkle than the others I've noticed) - great as highlighter eyeshadow also. I have this in the Rose version which is a set of 8 blushes in hues of Pink. I intend to purchase the Bronze version now as I am that impressed with this product :)

Lip Treatments -Revlon - Beyond Natural Liptint SPF 15 ] [DISCONTINUED]
Discod 10/12/2009 6:09:00 AM
Fabulous product! The Nude (or Nu) is my new favorite natural lip colour. Can't fault the colour or texture. It's very hard to find a nice beige/natural colour that does not wash you out nor look too pink or orange (or dark brown for that matter!) Has a nice sheen to it, but not too glossy and certainly not pasty as some beige lipsticks can be. I've been wearing colours like this years on my lips and they were so hard to find here in Australia before the nude lip came back into fashion - I was so happy when I found this one I bought 2 more as back-ups, just incase they discontinue it. It is very similar to my all time favorite lipstick - Perfect Beige by Clinique. Only down side is that it tends to wear off quite quickly, but I can live with that :)
