Blush -NARS - Lovejoy
DianeL 8/16/2003 4:16:00 PM
WOW is this one gorgeous blush. I love Nar's blushes anyway but both of the new ones, Outlaw and Lovejoy are just spectacular. Lovejoy looked so ordinary, similar to a light bronzer that I almost didn't buy it. I am so glad that I did because it is just perfect for my skin tone, hair and eyes. I use the Nars Laguna bronzer lighly all over, do my eyes with the Stila Due trio and use Lovejoy for blush and it is the perfect natural golden look. This blush has hints of bronze, red, peach and gold so that you wear this one with many other things and it blends perfectly. It is really very pigmented so use a light hand or it can be muddy looking. Another beauty by Nars.

Blush -NARS - Outlaw
DianeL 8/16/2003 4:06:00 PM
One word, GORGEOUS! I was afraid this would be like Sin which looks muddy on me but it wasn't and I love it. It has more pink and Sin has more plum. I have blonde hair, blue eyes, golden skin tone and it is perfect. A highly pigmented soft raspberry color with golden shimmer. It is very natural looking and such a beautiful sheer color. Nobody does blush like Nars and Outlaw is just SPECTACULAR!

Blush -NARS - Sin
DianeL 8/16/2003 4:01:00 PM
I love Nars blushes. I think Nars and Cargo make the most beautiful blushes with the most amazing colors and look so natural. I tried and tried to make Sin work but it just had too much brown in the pink and always looked muddy on me. I have blonde hair, blue eyes, golden skin tone and it just was not my color. It is highly pigmented as are most Nar's blushes, but the color was just wrong for me.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
DianeL 8/16/2003 3:57:00 PM
I have used Orgasm for about 3 years and it will always remain one of my favorite blushes. It's not as hightly pigmented as others but it is perfect for my skin tone. It is a pale peachy/pink gold with a very light amount of undetectable shimmer. On me, it really looks like a natural blush would. I also love the little rubber compact because it is indestructible. Just wash it and it looks like new no matter how long you have had it.

Scrubs -Peter Thomas Roth - Botanical Buffing Beads
DianeL 8/16/2003 3:37:00 PM
Sephora's description. This ultra gentle jojoba bead scrub contains fine florabeads and botanical nutrients that work in two ways. First, they help exfoliate dead surface skin cells, allowing active treatment products and moisturizers to penetrate. Then, the jojoba beads help open clogged pores and emulsify the sebum that contributes to blackheads and whiteheads. Good for all skin types. 8 ounces/cost$35.00 I bought this trying to find a replacement for my LaMer which even though I love it, I feel is overpriced.I also didn't like the white residue La Mer left that required the use of a toner to remove. I really like this PTR scrub and it is comparable to La Mer Refining Facial if not better. It is gentle yet does the job. No irritation, no dryness. Plus it is so much more affordable. It just takes a little so I imagine this bottle would last most about 6 months if you use it once or twice a week. Don't use more than you need or it is hard to wash the little beads off. I use an amount about the size of a quarter and that is plenty to do my face and neck. It's very gentle so take the time to let the exfoliator work. I do it for about 2 minutes very gently and it leaves my skin soft with no dryness. Great scrub!

Makeup Brushes -Versace - Powder Brush
DianeL 8/16/2003 3:17:00 PM
Sephora's description:The powder brush is made with natural goat bristles, which are preferable when applying powders. Characteristics include flexibility, elasticity, strong resistance to acids, oils and solvents, and can be easily washed regularly so as not to retain the color of any makeup used. Expensive, yes, $63.00 but work every cent. This is the best power brush I have ever owned. It grabs the powder so easily and the softness is just incredible. The handle and brush are just the right size and feel well balanced and easy to use. The ultimate luxurious brush, so incredibly soft. I love it!

Makeup Brushes -NARS - Push Liner Brush 02
DianeL 8/6/2003 11:57:00 PM
Throw the rest of your push brushes away. Just kidding but this is the softest, easiest to use I have ever tried. The bristles are so soft so they are gentle to the eyes and pick up just the right amount of product. I usually use it dry with shadows and push the eyeshadow into the base of the upper lashes from underneath and it gives me a natural lined eye look with no obvious line at all. I also like the fact that it has a little plastic cover so the brush stays in shape if you accidentally put it in a container brush end down. Worth every cent.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
DianeL 8/6/2003 11:53:00 PM
This hands down the best sunscreen I have ever used. I use the SPF 30. I have extremely sensitive skin when it comes to sunscreens and I had no problems with this at all. Living in the Florida Keys the sun is very intense and sunscreen is necessary year round. It has a very *clean skin* fragrance and it really does feel like you have nothing on. When it's very hot I don't like oily, greasy lotions because they clog your pores and make you feel hotter. This also seems to protect better than most others. I can apply it and be in the sun for several hours with no burning and very little tanning. Keep it away from your eye area if you are sensitive there because it did sting mine a little. I have tried almost every sunscreen imaginable and this is by far the best I have ever used. Plus I can get it at Walgreens for about 8.50.

Brows -Smashbox - Brow tech
DianeL 8/3/2003 10:12:00 PM
I have blonde hair and blue eyes and I got this in Smashing Blonde. It is highly pigmented and I have to use it with a very light hand. I wish they had one shade lighter but if I use it lightly it works perfectly. I have used Benefit Brow Zings in the lightest shade for a couple of years now and decided to try this one. I like it much better but the color is not quite as good on me as the Benefit unless I use a light touch, then it is perfect. I use a the powder then the wax. The waxy part is much nicer than the Benefit, not as sticky. I also like having the powder and wax separately because the Benefit seems to get dry and sort of unworkable as I get down to the final 1/3 of the pan. A great brow product that gives a very natural look. Worth the price imo. Give it a try.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
DianeL 8/3/2003 9:59:00 PM
I love this mascara. It is a tie between this and my Lancome Definicils which I still love. It doesn't clump or make my eyelashes stick together and no raccoon eyes at the end of the day. One coat is sufficient for me I also love the golden classy gold tube packaging which closes with a little click. I purchased this in black. I had no irritation and it is easy to rinse off with my holy grail eye makeup remover, Ciba Vision eye cleaner. Faux Cils is a bit pricey, but worth the money for the ease of application and the look I get. I have tried so many mascaras and they never live up to my expections and I always go back to Definicils. This one is right up there with it.

Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - ME Silver 945 [DISCONTINUED]
DianeL 8/3/2003 9:46:00 PM
After hearing all the raves about this shadow I wanted to make it work but I just couldn't. I hated the flimsy little container, it was too metallic looking and the color made me look like I had a black eye. It also made my eyes itch. So this rates a one lipstick for me because I could not find one redeeming quality about it except that it was highly pigmented.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Sin Eyeshadow
DianeL 8/2/2003 9:01:00 PM
I am a blue eyed blonde with golden skin tone. I bought this based on the reviews here and I just could not get it to work for me. It was too shimmery and took on a bluish cast on my skin. It also had too much shimmer and looked too Halloweenish. I also found that it irritated my eyes. It is a gorgeous shadow, it just would not work on me no matter what I did with it.

Mascara -Lancome - Cils Booster
DianeL 8/2/2003 12:48:00 PM
This does make your lashes thicker, but so do many mascara alone. If it gets too dry before you put your mascara on it's like glue. If you leave it damp, it works fine but it messed up the mascara in the tube. It ruined 2 of my new mascaras by making them gooey and clump. It also seemed to cause a few of my lashes to break off. I think this is a terrible product and I would not suggest anyone use it that cares about their lashes. I would like to give it a -1 if I could. What a marketing gimmick this is.

Concealers -Christian Dior - Diorlift Smoothing Anti-Fatigue Concealer
DianeL 8/1/2003 2:11:00 PM
I adore this concealer. After reading my dear friend Mayra's review, I had to try it and I am glad that I did. Touche Eclat is a staple for me, but there are times when I want a little more coverage and this is perfect. I use the #200 and it blends perfectly, is never oily and never creases. I use it under the eye and sometimes on the lid. It comes in like a small mascara tube with a very nice, soft brush to apply. Another thing I like is that it lasts all day and into the evening. It is a little expensive, 22.00 for a small .015 ounce bottle but a little goes a long way. I have so many concealers and have never really liked any of them enough to repurchase except for Touche Eclat, which is actually more of a highlighter. This one will become a staple for me forever, I love it.
