Lipstick -MAC - Madame B. (frost)
DanielleWilliams 2/23/2005 1:58:00 AM
Madame B. is pretty, but it's disappointing for me in that it is not unique, and is in fact a repeat shade addition to MAC's Lipstick arsenal. Now, side by side on my hand, Madame B is quite different from Creme de la Femme - CDLF is a bit warmer, and a bit pinker where as Madame B is much cooler and much more lavender. But here's where it gets tricky: I paint one side of my lips with CDLF and the other with Madame B. and voila: no difference. I can't tell them apart when painted atop my lips. I credit that to my lips' medium to deep natural pigmentation. I suppose other people will have different results due to their own natural lip pigmentation or the liners they choose to wear underneath Madame B. (and some people may not even own CLDF!) so I say get it and try for yourself. But for me, however, this is further proof that MAC is running out of shade ideas and recycling past creations with just enough difference (the slightest difference, in many cases) to justify a name change (and another sale). Olive NC30.

Lipstick -MAC - Pure Girl
DanielleWilliams 2/22/2005 7:28:00 AM
I'm not sure if I like this lipstick. Its an odd shade for an olive NC30 to pull off... I'd say Pure Girl is a matte, somewhat chalky blend of pastel, Pepto Bismol pink with a touch of coral to it. It's odd, it doesn't look quite right on me unless I apply it lightly, and smudge it into my lips. Smudged lightly and paired with turquoise shimmery eyes, this works. It works, but I don't enjoy using it and rarely reach for it.

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Rose Shimmerbrick Shimmer Brick Compact
DanielleWilliams 2/22/2005 1:03:00 AM
I will start off by saying that I only the Bronze and (now) the Rose Shimmerbricks, so I can not compare the usefulness of this product if you own, say, the Pink Shimmerbrick. But I can honestly say, without hype or hesitation, that the Rose Shimmerbrick is quite a unique highlighter to what I already have in my collection. It imparts a rose glow to my cheeks that no other pink blush ever could on its own, and I own quite a few pink blushes. I am happy to say that I do need this, and that I love it. The Rose Shimmerbrick is beautiful, and makes me look and feel glowing, rosy, and radiant. Olive NC30.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cornflower Pigment
DanielleWilliams 2/21/2005 10:25:00 PM
Cornflower is my best blue - the best blue I own, the best blue I've ever seen or found. It's unique to me, and quite possibly one of MAC's more underrated Pigments. Cornflower is as it sounds - a periwinkle, cornflower blue with heaps of violet duochrome and thus violet and cornflower iridescence. It's especially gorgeous when foiled, the look is just unparalled. I love to use it alone, or with a bit of Blue Storm... But it looks equally gorgeous with Golden Olive. I love this pigmnet :) Olive NC30.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel Macroviolet
DanielleWilliams 2/21/2005 9:52:00 PM
Macroviolet is identical to Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Violet. There is not one discernable difference between the two. With that being said, Macroviolet is a gorgeous shimmering medium violet, with incredible lasting power. It looks fabulous against my olive skin and brown eyes. I only recommend this if you don't already own BB Gel Liner in Violet.

Lipstick -MAC - Lust
DanielleWilliams 2/21/2005 8:19:00 PM
Lust is a pale, greyish lavender that, when applied sheerly, looks exactly like Nico Lipglass without the glitter. I can see this being a hard shade for most to pull off, but I rather like the look of it when paired with grapey-blue eyes. It tones down the pigment in my lips while adding a sheer, lavender frost to create an illusion of pale, lilac sparkled lips. It can be very ethereal when used in moderation; I would not recommend applying this full force. Olive NC30.

Fragrances -Lea St. Barth - Lea
DanielleWilliams 2/18/2005 2:48:00 AM
Lea is so incredibly, amazingly ...bland. I love almond, I love vanilla, musk is lovely - so why is it that I cannot stand this fragrance?! I wanted to love it based on the fabulous almond/vanilla/musk notes alone, but alas - it smells synthetic and its lasting power (thankfully) is quite poor. Lea is commonplace and generic, reminiscent of a Bath and Body Works creation. I can't believe this is going for $85 a bottle.

Shampoo -Burt's Bees - Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar
DanielleWilliams 2/15/2005 3:56:00 PM
Burt's Bees Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar smells neither like rosemary nor mint - it smells generic and soapy/waxy. It lathers well, and applies as shampoo would to the hair and scalp. Nice, rich, sudsy lather that proceeds to strip my hair of any moisture it once had. I will say this: If you have problems with product buildup, this will remove the buildup. With that being said, it could probably strip the paint from a car. I thought this would work for me - shoulder length hair with normal ends and a problem (oily) scalp. I thought it was working, actually, until I rinsed. My hair was snaggy and tuggish (is that a word?) as my fingers ran through it. My hair felt like wet straw. The moral of the story: Do use this if you have very oily hair or a problem with product build up, but use at your own risk if your hair is generally problem free. I wouldn't recommend this otherwise.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Golden Lemon pigment
DanielleWilliams 2/14/2005 12:50:00 AM
Though not my most loved pigment, this is certainly my most used pigment. When I say it's not my most loved, that's only because I have other pigments I consider *favorites*. Golden Lemon is not very interesting, nor incredibly complex. It's a frosty gold, somewhat on the cool side of gold, certainly not a lemon yellow, but at the same time, not a true gold in the metal sense. It's a lovely, shimmering, frosted sunflower yellow. I use this most often of all my pigments, whether it be on the eyes, cheekbones or lips - alone or atop a l/s of choice. I have used 1/4 of the jar already. I think this will be the only pigment I will ever have to repurchase if I continue using it as I do, which is atleast twice a week in some fashion. I have nothing but love for Golden Lemon <3 Olive NC30.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre - Honeyflower [DISCONTINUED]
DanielleWilliams 2/14/2005 12:45:00 AM
Honeyflower is a shimmering caramel shade. It's electrified, shimmery, sheer maple syrup with definite orange undertones. It works with my skintone, but I'm not very fond of it. The orange is what spoils this shade for me - I think if it were a more straightforward honeyed caramel, I would use it more often. I'll keep it around incase I change my mind, and will update my review if I find a way to love it. For now, I would not repurchase. The sparkle is nice, the formula is lovely. Olive NC30.

Eyeliner -MAC - Glitter Liner- Oxidate
DanielleWilliams 2/7/2005 2:18:00 PM
I'd buy this again, if it wasn't LE and if it didn't get all Flaky McFlakerson after a while. I've been spoiled by UD's glitter liners, which far surpass MAC's. Oxidate is a saucy blend of multicolored glitter (of which copper primarily dominates) against a deep backdrop of blackened brown gel. It looks amazing, though, which is why I'll put up with the flaking *sob*. I wish it didn't flake (maybe I just put too many layers on?)!!! It's so pretty, especially paired with Violet and Copper Sparkle pigments. :) Olive NC30.

Shampoo -Fresh - Umbrian Clay Shampoo
DanielleWilliams 2/7/2005 2:14:00 PM
Expensive, but a necessary staple in my hair care stash. Great for oily or irritated scalps, as sometimes mine is (grr). This is soothing and does an excellent job of cleansing my hair and leaving it soft and shiny. It's not at all drying on the ends of my hair, which is awesome. I switch between this and Fresh Soda shampoo, and have been for the past three months. My hair has never been better :]

Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - Dior Addict Backstage Ultra-Gloss in Sparkling Green
DanielleWilliams 1/10/2005 9:51:00 PM
Eh... This is a mediocre lipgloss. It's so eye-catching and glitzy, such a brilliant and clear shimmering shamrock in the tube. It applies virtually clear, and is speckled with somewhat large particles of glitter. It's not especially flattering or pretty on... Just a clear gloss with huge specks of glitter. MAC Spring Bean is so much nicer.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - honey body butter
DanielleWilliams 1/10/2005 9:41:00 PM
Absolutely horrid. I can NOT believe they're trying to pass this body butter off as honey!!! I mean, their honey shampoo, conditioner and lip balm smell of true honey... wow, did they go wrong with this product. It smells disgusting, which is such a shame for a formula as fantastic as their body butters are. Sinks right in, moisturizes to perfection... but reeks. Blech. :( Disappointed and grossed out.
