Fragrances -Hugo Boss - Deep Red

Very nice perfume, I tend to prefer scents that have vanilla in them and this one does. I like that when it wears down the vanilla comes through softly. Also, if you like this, but want something with a bit more lasting power, I'd recommend Dior Addict.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Curious by Britney Spears

I got a sample of this from Sephora and I have to say, I am SO glad I paid nothing for it. I should start by saying that I am prone to headaches if a perfume doesn't agree with me; this perfume didn't, it smelled terrible. I have to agree with a previous poster who said this smelled like a little girls idea of grown-up perfume. Blech!

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Anti Blemish Cream
Chrysynthia2 3/5/2005 8:02:00 PM
Not bad stuff, I never used to use a moisturizer but I moved to OH and the winters here are pretty drying to my skin. I picked this based on reviews here, and because it had anti wrinkle/blemish. I had a small laugh line developing on my left side which seems to be lessening now that I'm using this stuff. Also, I've noticed that my base (Bare Escentuals) looks a lot nicer at the end of the day than before. Can't say whether this really affects my acne, but the wrinkle reduction is worth it to me (I mean come on I'm not even 26)

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Le Grande Kohl Eyeliner Pencil
Chrysynthia2 1/18/2005 10:58:00 AM
I've been using this for a few months and love it. I think I have it in sable (a dark brown) and it is a great color, goes on smoothly, and the color is nice and dark. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion before applying my eye make-up, so I haven't had any trouble with it fading. Also, I always set my liner with a little dark brown shadow applied with a small fine liner brush so that may help it last too.
UPDATE 8/15/05: Used this a couple of weeks ago to line my inner rims when I went dancing and it stayed on beautifully all night, no need for touch ups.

Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - Blackhead/Blemish Extractor
Chrysynthia2 1/17/2005 10:57:00 AM
This thing is a godsend! I usually squeeze and pick using my nails (bad I know) and end up leaving big red areas on my face that look worse and probably take longer to heal than the place would have if I'd've left it alone.
With this, I can clean out the offending blackhead/whitehead without using my nails and without leaving red marks. Tweezerman, my skin and I thank you.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Raisin Glaze [DISCONTINUED]
Chrysynthia2 1/17/2005 10:46:00 AM
Not too bad of a product; this color is quite nice. However, I have noticed that if I use only this gloss during the day my lips are a little dry and peely by the end, so I alternate applying this and applying lip smackers or rosebud salve.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Intensive Care Advanced Healing
Chrysynthia2 1/17/2005 10:41:00 AM
I've been using this stuff for years, and in the last few months I've even been using it on my face, since I haven't found a facial moisturizer that doesn't break me out or make me greasy. I haven't noticed any smell in it, so I also use it mixed with a little dab of my bath and body works lotion to give me lightly scented skin without it being overpowering the way B&BW can be.

Masks -Pro Activ - Refining Mask
Chrysynthia2 1/17/2005 9:30:00 AM
I got this free in the 3 step system (see my review of that) and it was the only part of the system that I liked and would consider repurchasing, if the company weren't such a pain to deal with.
The smell isn't that great and it does linger after you've washed it off, but since I use it at night before bed, I don't worry about it too much. Actually though, I think that smell is the only bad thing about this product. I don't use it often, mainly when I notice a lot of little bumps developing, and when I do use it I notice the next morning that most of those bumps have disappeared. Also, I've used it a lot as a spot treatment on new acne to either pull the stuff to the top so I can use my extractor to clean it out, or to make the swelling and redness go down so I can cover it easier in the morning.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
Chrysynthia2 1/17/2005 9:18:00 AM
I used this product about a year and a half ago and at first it worked great, it cleared up my skin and even made the dark spots from old acne disappear very quickly...however after 6-8 months of using it, it didn't work well at all. I was developing tons of new acne and blackheads all over, including my cheeks, even though I'd never had acne there before (since stopping the use of this product I STILL get acne there, so I'm not sure if there is a connection).
I was never able to use the toner, since it made my chin really dry and sort of scaly on the sides. I quit using the cleanser last fall and have been using Neutrogenas blackhead removing scrub ever since (IMO its much better and cheaper). I do still have the benzoyl peroxide lotion and use it occasionally at night after washing my face, however I won't be repurchasing it when I run out, since there are so many other drugstore brand benzoyl perozide lotions out there that can be purchased with a lot less hassle. Also, the starter kit comes with a mask sample that is awesome and is pretty much the only thing I would consider repurchasing if the company weren't such a pain to buy from.
As another reviewer mentioned, once you buy from Proactiv it's a real pain to get them to stop shipping/billing you their product. I haven't ordered anything from their company in over a year, yet twice a month I still get junk mail from them trying to sell their product. I would reccomend if you can buy this product from one of their mall vendors that you do so, that way you don't end up enrolled in their "club" for auto delivery which, if you order online or over the phone, you are automatically enrolled in. (and yes, they will continue to bill whatever credit card you initially gave them, and yes it is a pain in the a$$ to get them to refund your money)

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Blackhead Eliminating Scrub
Chrysynthia2 1/17/2005 8:56:00 AM
I've been using this for about 6 months and I'm very happy with it, I've noticed that my skin is as clear/clearer than it was when I used Proactive, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper and lasts a lot longer. The only thing I don't like is that the dark spots on my cheeks from past breakouts take longer to disappear than they did when I used Proactive.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
Chrysynthia2 1/10/2005 10:44:00 AM
I bought this in over the weekend based on reviews on this site, and because I needed to replace my old Revlon mascara.
The color I got is called Softest Black, which looked to me like a medium grey once I opened the tube and initially put it on (it did dry a little darker). This color is ok for everyday/work wear, but I think I'd probably get a darker black for night/weekend wear.
The consistency is pretty good, it coated my lashes well and did make them a bit fuller, but I wasn't "Wowed" by the change in my lashes. Basicly it did what all mascara is supposed to do in general- make your lashes darker; and this color didnt even do that as well as I'd hoped. The price is comparable to my usual Revlon mascara, so I'd probably buy it again, but since it isn't really a HG product for me I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Oh well...
**UPDATE**
I decided to try this in another color to give it another shot since everyone here gave it such rave reviews. I got Blackest Black over the weekend, and the color is Much better than Softest Black. Also, a lot of reviewers mentioned that they use 2 or more coats and I tried that too this weekend and the color/volume/thickness is much better than with one coat.
However, this aside, I'm not too crazy about waiting on mascara to dry in the morning, and I've noticed that with 2 coats it tends to clump a bit. Also, I noticed that it tends to flake a bit towards the end of the day, not so good for me, I already have my own natural dark undereye circles thankyouverymuch, I don't need any help from my mascara! Will NOT repurchase

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
Chrysynthia2 1/6/2005 1:22:00 PM
Not too bad of a product; I like the smell, although it does remind me a bit of lemon Pledge... Not sure I'd buy it again, I usually just use a bit of vaseline on my nails/cuticles and that works just as well, although this stuff does take longer to absorb.
8/9/05 UPDATE: Loving this product! I keep it on my desk at work and apply it every morning, since the air in here is so drying and my cuticles tend to peel. Keeping my cuticles moisturized at work has helped me stop picking at them, so the appearance of my nails has improved quite a bit.

Polishes -Revlon - ColorStay Always On in Ultimate Wine
Chrysynthia2 1/5/2005 2:52:00 PM
This color is AWESOME I'm just glad that Revlon seems to be expanding the colors in this line, because to be honest as great as the product is, I wouldn't wear half of the colors in the line.
But this, this is a nice classic red like I usually reserve for my toes simply because all other polishes last a max of 2 days before they chip on my fingers. Will be buying again when I run out of this!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals in 1.2, fairly light
Chrysynthia2 1/5/2005 2:30:00 PM
I got this stuff off of QVC figuring that at least if I hated it I could return it and get a refund. Well, I didn't return it and I actually like it.
I really don't see what the fuss is about the application, just use a little common sense; if you can see clumps of powder on the brush, you either need to swirl a little more or tap it to get the excess off. I personally think my routine goes a lot faster now in the morning than it did with liquid foundation. Usually liquid foundation doesn't match my skin tone (too pink or too yellow) so I'd have to mix two of them together and then add moisturizer if I wanted it to mix and then blend nicely on my face.
With this I just use the brush and blend it on, apply my blush, and then apply the veil after the rest of my makeup is done. And since the color can be built up, I use a small brush (a very soft clean paint brush from an old art class) to apply it to any pimples or dark splotches.
So far the only thing I dislike about this product is the packaging. I absolutely HATE the sifter, anytime I have to pack my makeup to go to my boyfriends I always open this up to find that a bunch of the product has sifted out onto the top and if I'm not carefull I end up with a mess.
Otherwise, great product, will buy again.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Aromatherapy Eucalyptus Spearmint
Chrysynthia2 1/5/2005 2:15:00 PM
This is my favorite B&BW scent! I have been a huge fan of it since they came out with it a few years ago, and was upset when they changed their packaging because I thought they had discontinued it, but I got lucky and they hadn't. The candles are my favorite, but all of the products in this scent are good.
