Skincare - Face -Ole Henriksen - Truth Serum

I really love this serum! I don't find it sticky, and I use less than a full pump for my face and neck. The pump is sort of loose, so you can easily get just a 1/2 pump. Any stickiness there is, disappears when I put my moisturizer on top of this. I am using this in the morning with a SPF 30 moisturizer, and a different serum at night, with the Invigorating Night Gel and Sheer Transformation cream, and I am right now having the best skin I've had in a LONG time. No breakouts or flakies! I have combo skin with large pores on my nose, and everything is looking smoother and brighter lately. I have some melasma and hyperpigmentation from 2 summer pregnancies and 2 trips to Waikiki over the past 5-6 years, and I am really starting to see a difference. I have a lot of products, and I was mixing it up for a while, but I finally think I've found my perfect regimen, without the use of hydroquinone!

I love the brush that comes with these. Makes it so easy to do my nails! This is pretty much your average vampy purple. Looks darker on the nail than in the bottle. I am used to doing 3 coats, so that wasn't really a problem for me. I have a lot of CSMs and will continue to buy them because of the brush, nice bottle design and good quality polish. I change my nail polish every few days so wear wasn't an issue. I easily got through 2-3 days without chipping, using Trind as a basecoat and Nubar Diamont topcoat.

I was using Revlon Colorstay for normal/oily skin, or MAC Pro Longwear before I remembered I had bought this a while ago. I wear NW20 in MAC, and I got Vanilla. This is the most amazing feeling foundation I have ever used! It's so creamy and velvety going on, I can't describe it accurately. The coverage is medium, just what I need. It melts into the skin and leaves beautiful color and texture. I started using this, because Colorstay was making me look kind of cakey, and Pro Longwear, I just don't know. I wanted something different. And I love that this comes in a pump. One squirt covers my whole face beautifully! I will alternate with other foundations until they are used up, but I'll continue to purchase this!

I asked for this last year for my birthday, so I've had it a while, and I have hardly used it. I guess it's just too sweet for me. Something about it almost gives me a headache, but not quite. I feel sort of suffocated when I wear this. It does smell good on other people, so I'm swapping my bottle.

It took a while for this to grow on me. It's kind of strong. I actually like to spray it in the air, and then walk through it. This sat in a drawer, unloved, for a long time until I happened to swap for a small jar of the body cream. Oh. My. Goodness. The body cream is DIVINE!!! It's everything I wanted the spray to be. So now, I wear the body cream and then just add a little spritz of the perfume. It's girly and pink and creamy goodness and it lasts a long time.

This is just okay on me. The top notes are a little bit too "in your face" for me, if you know what I mean. I've only had rollerball and mini sizes of this, so I can't imagine what it would be like to spray it on, how strong it must be! I like the other Juicy scents, so I thought I'd like this one as well. Maybe as a body lotion, but not the juice. Kind of like a stronger, sharper version of the original Juicy Couture fragrance, which is plenty strong on its own!

I got a purse spray of this for myself at Christmastime, and bought it unsniffed. I really like it! I love watery, clean florals and this is perfect. Yes, it's kind of a shampoo type smell, but it just works on me, and since it's a purse spray I can reapply to my heart's content. A clean smell is very, very sexy to me, so I totally love this, even though I really can't stand Faith Hill.

I only really bought this because it was 50% off at Walmart after Xmas. I would never have paid full price. I have to say that I like the bottle, it's kind of tacky but it stands out on my vanity. And I like that it's kind of a vintage bottle style, essentially being a refillable plastic container housing the glass bottle inside. I thought I had smelled it before, and it was kind of generic, and it definitely is, but pleasing at the same time. I do get the strawberries note over a light floral musk, which is nice for everyday or the office. Not going to offend anybody with this one. I like it much better than Lovely or Covet or any of SJP's other scents.

I really like this, but it's a shame it doesn't last on me, or from reading other reviews, anyone else. The dry down is really lovely, it's overall so fresh and clean. I'll cherish my sample until it's gone, but that will be the end. If I want something fresh, I'll look elsewhere.

I got a sample of this from TPC. Very pleasantly surprised with this one. For some reason it reminds me of what I thought Chanel No. 5 smelled like, only better. I only ever had the No. 5 body cream and it was much like this, it kind of envelops you in a warm cocoon of refinement. Very classy, but approachable. I'm going to need more of this one when my sample runs out.

Fragrances -Chanel - No.19
Chickadee 1/29/2011 11:21:00 PM
I'm a dabbler in high end and niche fragrance. I don't think I really have the nose for it, but I like to read reviews of scents and then sample them, trying to understand what I am reading and smelling at the same time. I ordered a sample of this from TPC, and I agree with what Luca Turin wrote in Perfumes The Guide. This is heartless. It's a green floral, yes, but instead of springtime freshness, you get strong, bold lines and coldness - like you went to hug your grandmother but instead hugged a robot. It's too serious for me, and I don't think getting close to someone wearing this would be very nice.

This gets 5 stars. Yes, it's expensive, but for me it's worth it. All the colors are beautiful and the product is of great quality. I treated myself to this palette and a Rouge Allure lipstick when I got my new job, and I've been wearing it just about every other day. This would look great on anyone, and is so easy to use. The shades blend beautifully and I love the sparkle, which is sophisticated, not too glittery, and just overall very chic. Well done Chanel!

I had this for a while, but it never became my favorite. Why? Because when I wear this it smells like cookies to me. Not just cookies actually, but that Cookie Crisp cereal. Some time after I swapped it away, I got a new coworker who wears it, and I always think of Cookie Crisp when she is standing near. I don't hate vanilla or foody scents, but this one is just straight cookies on me. Personally, I'd rather smell like the ocean than someone's dessert.

Crème -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55 Helioplex
Chickadee 1/14/2011 10:09:00 PM
While I was in Walgreens last night, buying rock salt, I couldn't help but wander into the cosmetics department, and I happened to find this. I had been considering the Revlon Photo Ready compact foundation, but this one sold me on the SPF 55. It was pretty difficult to find my shade, but I ended up with # 40 I figured I could always return it if it wasn't a match. This isn't bad, I used the sponge to apply all over and my Sonia Kashuk multipurpose brush to apply closer to the eyes and to cover in spots. The texture wasn't chalky or anything, despite the high SPF. I set it with Coty Airspun powder and only blotted once during the day, so no oilies for me. But overall, I think I need more coverage. I like an airbrushed, perfected look, and I don't think this is going to do it for me. I will probably use this as sort of a primer for mineral foundations. Unless, of course, the SPF 55 perfects my skin to the point where I don't need anything else. Wishful thinking!! UPDATE: It's now summer and I tried this again. You have to be really careful because this can look cakey if you don't blend really well. I just looked in the mirror, and it was caked around my eyebrows - yuck! I agree with some others who said that this has a weird texture, like it's creamy and chalky at the same time. I'll use this only for the sunscreen properties, if it doesn't melt off my face, that is. Lowered to 2 stars.

Clothes -Victoria's Secret - General Opinion
Chickadee 12/12/2010 8:28:00 PM
I have officially given up on Victoria's Secret, other than their fragrance and body care. For clothing and lingerie, you can do much, much better at Kohl's or Macy's and get to use coupons and take advantage of REAL sales. I came to this opinion after a VS bra I had ordered a few months ago came apart. The stitching holding the strap together in the back actually came out. I have NEVER had a bra do this. And because I had heard that their online CS was pretty good, I decided to email them about it and ask what could be done. My ordering history still had the order number and everything, it was that recent. The customer service was less than stellar. I went back and forth on emails, each time being replied to by a different rep, who asked the same questions because he/she had not read the previous thread. Finally, I found out that the bra I wanted to replace was no longer available in the color I had, so I went back and forth again to try to find the item number for the color I wanted. Finally, I just told them to give me a merchandise credit, which I then used to purchase the bra I wanted at the store. After that experience, I did some shopping and found that many brands of lingerie are made much better than VS and more reasonably priced. I am pretty well endowed, so I need support and a good fit. And as for their clothes, anything I have ordered has always been sent right back for poor fit or misrepresentation in the catalog. Apparently, Victoria's real secret is poor quality and high prices, not to mention small boobies that need tons of padding!
