I bought the CVS uncoated aspirin, extremely cheap. I mixed 2 aspirin with honey and powdered whole milk (see my notepad). My face was incredibly smooth and soft. Smells a little strange because of the milk but the next time I added 2 drops of lavender essential oil and that helped (also, I had read that lavender essential oil was good for acne). The honey helped keep the mask on my face with no flaking. Did not break me out at all. Would definitely do this mask again.
Masks -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Papaya Enzyme Facial Mask

This is a good product. It's of a mild green jelly type consistency. Very mild. I like that you only have to leave it on for 5 minutes, so I use it in the shower. Great light exfoliation. Leaves skin smooth and soft. Of course, it isn't as strong as an overnight cream/mask but for a quick exfoliation, this is great. Didn't irritate my somewhat sensitive skin. Pretty inexpensive and worth a try. I'd buy it again. :)
Masks -Lumene - Arctic Touch Purifying Peat-Facial Mask
Ceci2468 8/12/2009 9:16:00 PM
I picked this up at CVS for $5. It's a very light mask. Looks funny, like dirt with little specks. Oh yeah, it's peat. Goes on thinner than other masks I've used but it's very effective. Smells very earthy and pleasant. Tingles a little when I first put it on. I left it on until it dried completely. It washes off easily and left my skin smooth and soft. Felt very refreshed and clean. Pores were clearer. Great mask and very inexpensive. CVS always has the Lumene products on sale. Try this for a very down to earth, clean feel. I would definitely buy again. :)

I bought this to mix into my homemade shampoo (see recipe on my notepad) to help with my seborrheic dermatitis since sulfur works great for this. I used maybe 1/8 tsp dissolved in water. It worked out pretty well. I don't know if it was necessary but I wanted an added boost. I've also used it with my Aztec Healing mask for a facial (I also have SD on my face). Again, probably wasn't necessary but I like to change things up every now and then. I've also heard that taken internally, it can help clear up skin issues including blemishes and hyperpigmentations but I haven't gotten that "brave." I will, however, continue putting some into my shampoo every once in a while. I recommend trying this in shampoo if you have scalp issues. I picked mine up for about $10 at Vitamin Shoppe. Update 3/10/10: I forgot to update, this did not help or hurt my seborrheic dermatitis. Turns out that sublimed sulfur and this sulfur are different. I bought some sublimed sulfur from AmericaRx.com and have been using it in products I make (see my notepad for recipes) and it has been working great.
Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - joesoef face cream, AHA 8 %

I received this as a free sample from the company. This is the first time I have ever used a glycolic acid product. You don't need much product, a very little spreads a long way. I used it overnight and in the morning my skin was so smooth. Pores were basically nonexistent (and I have large pores on my nose). The only thing was that my nose was a bit shiny (not oily) but I understand that that can happen with glycolic acid. Regardless of the shiny nose, I'd definitely use this again. I saw great results after one use overnight. The jar is small but it should last a long time. I would definitely buy it. :)
Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
Ceci2468 8/12/2009 4:20:00 PM
This review is for the Vitamin Shoppe's Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I mix this with my shea butter (see my notepad for recipes). I use it in my hair and sometimes on my body. It works great mixed with other oils/butters but is too oily for me to use alone (doesn't sink in as well). I also love mixing it in my hair conditioner (Aubrey Organics GPB). Makes my hair so soft and moisturized. I also used it as a deep oil treatment for my hair: slathered this on, put on a plastic cap and left it in my hair for a few hours. Shampooed and conditioned afterwards and my hair was ultra soft. Definitely will buy again. * Update 11/22/09: Why oh why did I change my routine? I usually use my shea butter mix on my face for moisturizing but decided to try this after reading a bunch of raves. The next day my face was a mess. It dried out my skin (I think it started up my seborrheic dermatitis again) and I got some pimples. The skin next to my nose and under my eyes felt like sandpaper. This was a few days ago and it's starting to get better but.... I will never do this to my face again. :(
I love this stuff. I use it in a mix with my shea butter (see my notepad for the recipe) and it's great. I use it for body and face and haven't had any breakouts from it. Moisturizes my skin without a greasy feel. Definitely recommend. :)
I use the 2.5% prescription hydrocortisone cream. I have seborrheic dermatitis and this cream is a must have (my SD can get really bad). I have SD on my scalp, face, in ears and in my nose. I've controlled my scalp and face with other products (see my notepad) but need this cream for inside my ears and nose. I only use it once a week and that usually works. My son has eczema and this also works great for that. Since it is a steroid, I try to minimize my use. It can be expensive without insurance but I make sure that one tube lasts me over a year. A little bit goes a long way.
I had gotten some free samples of this from either my dermatologist or skincarerx.com. You only need about a pea sized amount for the entire face. I found it creamy and moisturizing without being greasy. Sinks in quickly. The finished look was quite matte. After about an hour, my face didn't feel quite as moisturized anymore. My complaint is that for this price, you should be moisturized all day long (like my unrefined shea butter does and for 1/10th of the cost). I definitely feel that this product is priced way too high for what it delivers. I liked the samples but will not be purchasing the product.
I picked this product up at CVS on a whim. I've always wanted to try a peel off mask. It was easy to apply. I left it on to fully dry (about 20 mintues). It was so easy to peel off, I started at my forehead (even though I read somewhere that you should start at the chin). It peeled off in one piece. I could see the dirt from my pores on the peeled off mask. This was fun (reminds me of when I used to play with Elmer's glue as a child) and effective. My skin felt refreshed, clean, soft and my pores got cleaned out. Contains shea butter and glycerin so it's moisturizing (not drying). No irritation at all. As inexpensive as it was, I would definitely buy again.
Whenever my face is feeling a little dry and tight, I wet my face and then smear some honey all over. I leave it on for about 20-30 minutes and then rinse off (it rinses off easily). The dryness is gone and my face is soft and moisturized. I've also used honey combined with my hair conditioner to give the conditioner a little "boost." My hair comes out nice, soft and moisturized. I used an organic honey but I'm thinking of getting regular honey that doesn't have the crystalized honey in it. Honey's a great humectant and very inexpensive. I will definitely buy more. :) Update 8/11/09: I wanted to add moisture to my hair and decided to mix some honey with my shea butter hair cream and it works great. :) I also did an aspirin mask with honey and whole milk powder. My face was so smooth and soft afterwards. Loved it. :)
Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Born Again MSM Herbal Soap
Ceci2468 7/28/2009 12:40:00 AM
My trusted Dr. Joesoef's 10% sulfur soap got inadvertently thrown away (thanks to my mother) and I had to purchase a replacement soap while I waited for my delivery of Dr. Joesoef's soap. I found this MSM soap at my local health store and decided to give it a try since I heard great things about MSM. It helped somewhat (better than nothing) but I still got 2 cystic acnes on my face and my back itch (bacne) was back. My Dr. Joesoef's soap had totally cleared my acne and back itch. This soap cannot compare to what Dr. Joesoef's soap has done for me. The only way I'd purchase this soap again is if Dr. Joesoef's were discontinued for some reason. All sulfur soap is definitely not the same. I never want to be without my trusted 10% sulfur soap again (I have extra this time, just in case).
This mask goes on very smooth and creamy (not messy). Easy to take off (I usually just wash it off in the shower). I leave it on until it dries completely. Cleans and minimizes the size of the large pores on my nose. Skin is left smooth and soft. Like all masks/cleansers for me, it leaves my skin a little drier than I like so I moisturize with my whipped shea butter mix (see my notepad for recipe). This mask is very mild and should work well with all skin types (just note that you will probably need a moisturizer afterwards). Charcoal is a great detoxifier. You can use it as often as you feel necessary. I will definitely buy this again. Updated to add: I do get a little purging the next day. The clogged pores come up. I do a light exfoliation usually with my microfiber cloth and that takes care of that. :)
After having heard so much about this mask on MUA, I decided to try it (esp since it's so inexpensive). I used it on my t-zone (I'm acne-prone/oily) and it really cleaned my pores well. I have sensitive skin and was a little hesitant because of the peppermint but it worked fine on my t-zone. Another time I mixed some up with my Aztec healing mask with apple cider vinegar and used it all over my face. This was very tingly and cleaned very well. No irritation at all which was great. I still haven't gotten bold enough to try using it all over my face without mixing it with something else such as the Aztec mask but I highly recommend it (even for sensitive skin). I have large pores on my nose and they were dramatically cleaned out and reduced after using this. My son (21 yo) has face and body acne (from working out) and I recommended he try it. So, I smeared it all over his face, chest and upper arms one day and he loved it. The next day, his body acne had cleared up about 80%. He was quite impressed. Another great HG. :)
Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I'm African American and my hair absolutely loves EVOO. I mix some in my hair moisturizer that I make (see my notepad). I also mix some in Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner. It makes my hair very soft and well moisturized. Sometimes for added moisture I'll add a few drops of honey to the conditioner also. Definite HG for me. :)
