Treatments (Eye) -Biotherm - Hydra-detox Yeux

Being a sucker for nice packaging - I have to say that I love this blue frosted glass and the rounded edges. I like holding it in my hand, feeling its weight and the cool smooth matte glass. The product itself is very light and goes on like a creme gel. It did not help in terms of puffiness, circles or lines but I still like it. When I wake up and am energized enough to pop over to the gym I always pick this up with me as it makes my concealer go on better and my eyes feel less dry. Its not enough for night time use though where I prefer something heavier and more moisturizing.

Treatments (Eye) -Murad - Moisture Silk Eye Gel
rated 4 of 5

Cool packaging- feels very smooth and indeed like silk when smoothed under the eye. Didn't moisturise very much but then again no milia! Yup, when I pressed out too much then it applied white and flakey but I've learnt to just give a mini pump and spread it under both eyes. No problems then:) For the moment I am quite liking this. Does not really rid the fine lines but we shall see what happens in the long term. UPDATE: After using almost half the tube- there were no more problems of white flakes so I guess it was just the initial top layers. 1 pump is actually a lot so I have more than enough for both eyes and also half my forehead! Still like it.

Skincare - Face -Aesop - Damascan Rose Facial Treatment
rated 1 of 5

Hmmn..I should have read the reviews here prior to purchasing, but then this was an impulse buy when I was out shopping so no time to check. It seems from the 1st post below that Malaysian SAs from Aesop may have all been taught to push sales for the Damascan Rose Facial Treatment together with the Primrose Masque. No wonder - their commisions would have been high with the price of these!

I was gullible enough to listen to the SA who assured me that certain local socialites with beautiful skin loved and bought a lot of this product together with the Primrose Masque. My skin is dry and dehydrated so she advised that this product touting, "Sublime hydration treatment excellent for extremely dry and damaged skin" would be great.

The Primrose masque totally dried out my skin - then with this oily treatment patted on top,I suppose my poor abused skin had no choice but to absorb the it. Unfortunately, its akin to a contact lens drying out into a shriveled crust and then being dunked back into saline. Very traumatic- resulting in raw confused skin.

I tried this for a few months MINUS the Primrose Masque which got chucked out and developed dry flakey spots coupled with blemishes!! Aarrgh- everything I was trying to avoid. Will not repurchase.

Masks -Aesop - Primrose Facial Cleansing Masque

I shouldn't have listened to the SA. She was going on and on about which local socialites bought 10 of this and the Damascan Rose Facial Treatment and used them religiously so I followed suit and purchased. Yes, its rather pricey but this large heavy jar will last me forever...so it works out very cheaply in the end. Granted I already have dry skin so I expected to only use this once a week but the few times I have reached for this; I really hated the tightness and redness that resulted. It did not help as a spot treatment either- just made my blemishes angier and redder than before. Will not repurchase.

Lips -Perfumeria Gal - Apple Fragranced Balm
rated 3 of 5

I bought 2 different scents in the local Crabtree & Evelyn boutique. Very cheap and rather chic tins.I'm a fan of everything green apple scented- it makes me feel more awake and young:) This balm is average, helps when my lips are dry- though not my favourite. There are better ones out there.

Lip Treatments -Perfumeria Gal - Violet Lip Balm

Beautiful tin that I keep on my bedside table. Not the most emollient balm I've tried but I still like it for the packaging and the lovely pretty smell. Its rather strong though! In the beginning I preferred the other PG balm I have in Apple but Violet has grown on me and I am very surprised that I reach for this more than the Burts Bees which I used to adore.

Eyeliner -Chanel - double eyeliner compact/la ligne de Chanel (noir et marine)
rated 5 of 5
Angeline 12/28/2005 3:35:00 PM

Yes, I would definitely repurchase again. Though I don't know if I will ever finish this. I've used this for a while and only made an eensy hole in the black color. Since I'm usually on the run- I prefer eyeliner pens for fast applications. Applying water to the cakeliner in order to achieve the consistency I want does take up time but the results are really good, clean lines and last many hours. The tiny eyeliner brush is adorable- makes the most precise lines. I LOVE the little accompanying accessories that Chanel adds with their eye compacts (eg: the brow color has the best eyebrow plucker!) Totally no regrets purchasing. 5 stars!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Twilight Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5

Oh My! I'm sooo in love with the silky soft texture. It looks a tad metallic and shimmery for day on me but I can sheer it out as a wash and its so pretty. Very ethereal and clean looking. The best silver eyeshadow I've tried so far! 5 stars!

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick- Rose Tea
rated 4 of 5
Angeline 12/12/2005 1:05:00 PM

This shade is exactly the color of my lips. Well, just an eensy bit browner, bit darker. I was surprised then that it was not flattering on me and I've never really liked it. I'm a Stila B Asian and since this is described as a cool toned mauvey pink brown with grey tones I always supposed I looked better wearing only warm colors.

Until a minute ago...I was testdriving a new look-everything I usually don't wear- shimmery purple plum eyeshadow, fuchsia blush and this on- results were "bleh". I slicked on my "rotation gloss of the moment" - Lancome Miracle and voila! Rose Tea turned into a flattering perky pink. Gosh- I CAN wear a cool face after all:)

Eye Shadow -Orlane - velvet eye shadow
rated 5 of 5

This compact duo of Orlane Bronze/ Violine has been with me for a while and it was sitting in my drawer -brand new and untouched - cos the colors looked too dark for my liking. But today I thought- what the heck..and brought them out to play ..I didn't have any expectations from Orlane as its not widely reviewed on MUA but what can I say?

I'm quite impressed! My pet peeve with a lot of eyeshadows are that they are hard- I hate hard shadows with a vengeance. The texture of the Bronze shadow is beautifully soft, pigmented and silky. Love it! It looks like a very rich old gold like those I see in vintage tapestries. It would be stunning at night. The Violine is a matte brownish plum which applies as a wash but I also tried it wet and it makes a decent liner. At first glance I thought that it would turn out like MAC Blackberry - which was too dark for my Asian Stila B complexion and made me look like a severely battered victim of abuse. But happily I have discovered that by brushing it over a shimmery pink cream eyeshadow by Lancome, this morphs into an almost metallic silvery purple. Most of my life I've been averse to purple shadows but must say..this is quite nice!

I'll get use from this compact after all! whee..so glad I tried it:) Very reccomended. Dang, should have gotten more of these.

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
rated 4 of 5
Angeline 12/11/2005 4:16:00 PM

Lovely! My lips are constantly chapped- I need to drink more water! And I try out lots of lipbalms but this is a definite favourite. I've since finished up my tin as I liked it so much but as I recall- it did not smell bad at all. Had a slight pinkish tinge in the pot but applied clear + slightly glossy and always left my horrendous chapped lips smoth the next morning. Too bad its not available where I live.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Facial Cleansing Bar - Dry Skin Formula
rated 4 of 5
Angeline 11/21/2005 3:06:00 PM

I love using soaps too and wanted a change from the Clinique Facial bar. Its alright, foams well but leaves my skin a little taut. Sometimes slightly itchy. Would use in a pinch but won't repurchase and will return to Clinique Mild soap.

Lipstick -Chanel - Hydrabase Lipstick in Beige de CHANEL
rated 4 of 5
Angeline 11/16/2005 2:16:00 AM

This looked really chic on me! I love nudes but with my Asian skintone- I need a little peach to the nude or it makes me look ill. This color is great but I prefer sheerer formulas; this came out a little semi matte on me.

Lipstick -Chanel - Hydrabase Lipstick- Sirocco
rated 4 of 5
Angeline 11/16/2005 2:04:00 AM

I didn't find this shade sheer- it had medium to full coverage on my lips and was a medium rosy light plum. I used to be very very fair but have since gotten darker and am now leaning towards LLL with Asian yellow tones. Kept deliberating whether or not to keep it since it IS a beautiful shade but decided that it was too dark on me to wear everyday. It a great polished professional color for the office though.

Skincare - Body -L'Oreal - Nutrilift
rated 4 of 5
Angeline 11/9/2005 10:34:00 AM

Didn't have high expectations for this -somehow other than the eyemakeup remover- the Plenitude line is ho-hum IMO. However, I was very pleasantly surprised with this product! Smells florally powdery lovely and I use it before I sleep so there is no clashing of fragrances. Not heavy and sticky like the Body Shop butters and was very comfortable and easy to use. Price also pretty cheap. Reccomended.
