Masks -Paula's Choice - skin recovery hydrating treatment mask
Hawko 2/2/2008 12:43:00 PM
Loaded with silicone, yucky feeling. I didn't see any improvement, still need a lighter than normal application of moisturizer on top after removal of this Tx mask. Personally, I preferred those glycerin based cream mask instead. I am using this as a hand cream,... or squeaky door hinges.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Hydrating Treatment Cream
Hawko 2/2/2008 12:36:00 PM
A good night cream for my wintery skin, or days when I need something heavier. It sank into my dry cheeks in a few minutes, & sometimes I re-apply for saturation. I finished one tube & ordered some more. It comes in a squeeze tube, good stuff.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Skin Balancing Moisture Gel
Hawko 2/2/2008 12:34:00 PM
This gel gives my oily forehead a little "slip" to cushion the liquid foundation. I just don't like that bare skin feeling. However, it soon disappeared, other than that, I don't see any improvement regarding to those anti-oxidant hype. I like her skin care package, they are all in tube, much more hygienic. Before Paula introduced her cosmetic line, didn't she used to rave about "oily skin DOES NOT need moisturizer". LOL

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Super Antioxidant Concentrate
Hawko 2/2/2008 12:27:00 PM
This ingredients are housed in a silicone base, very slippery. I definitely HATE silicone in skin care, it gives a false sense of smoothness. For such a critic like Paula, she did not offer the option of a watery/gel serum.... can't wash away fast enough, its going back.

Crème -Prescriptives - Liquid Touch Compact
Hawko 2/1/2008 7:36:00 PM
This cream foundations seems greasy upon application but soon turned into a satin finish, the silicone slippery feeling allows better spreadability. You actually don't need a primer for this. What I don't like about this product is the color, it is so flat. A comparison is like using a gel blush or cheek stain. It is the same effect as in this foundation, it just doesn't look 3 dimensional. I found this in warm gold 05 on e-bay, it was cheap enough so I gave it a try, a little darker for my skin (I am NC 30-40).

Loose Powders -Prescriptives - Custom Blend loose Powder
Hawko 2/1/2008 7:17:00 PM
I did not get this done when I purchased the CB foundation. I returned to have the CB concealer the SA talked me into the powder. To watch the process is the interesting part, she started with Level 2 powder, some yellow, some green, some tan, some candlelight, then 2 tubes of moisturizing powder. She blended all those addition colors first, with the main color set aside. It has the color of greyish dust, ( Olivia, if you are reading this, you are so right); then everything was blended. There is a lot, I mean a lot of powder, for extra $20 I had the compact pressed. I love the package (loose), just tap some powder on the cap, pick it up with the puff. its all controllable. I will skip having the compact done if returned. The texture of the powder is also amazing, moisturizing, for experiment, I piled it on, no chalkiness, just disappeared into the skin and sets the foundation. Well worth it.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Custom Blend
Hawko 2/1/2008 6:49:00 PM
The custom color is a good match, and it is amazing how little I need when the color is right. I don't worry about the $$, this should last me for over a year. I don't want a luminous look so the SA made it a satin matte finish with additional Vitamin C for my liver spots. Will get another match in summer for sure. EDIT: I am changing this from 5 to 3 lippies, simply because of the poor texture & blendibility of this product. As I explored more into other brands of fdn, this is way over-priced, PX is closing for a reason - lack of consumers' support !!!

Powder -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Foundation
Hawko 1/31/2008 8:49:00 PM
Very, very sheer, this has 0.8% titanium dioxide, spf 10. If it's 15, I would piled it on my t-zone in summer as a sunscreen. The powder appeared much darker than actual appearance on skin. The first ingredient is talc, which is, a mineral. The third ingredient is nylon-16, which gives this powder an unpowderly look upon heavy application. It has mother of pearl down passed the 10th ingredient which accounts for its luminosity. For NC35, I picked the light-medium, this product will be an option for translucent powder to set the foundation.

Blush -Prescriptives - Pressed Powder Leaves [DISCONTINUED]
Hawko 1/31/2008 8:35:00 PM
I had a powder blush from Px back in 1989. The color is "soleil", luminous & sheer but "layerable". Like all products I loved, Px soon discontinued this color. When I compared this color "Antique Peach 03" side by side with "soleil", they are so similar. It is slightly orangy/peach which gives this NC35 skin a nice healthy glow better than any bronzer without that muddy look.

Concealers -Prescriptives - Custom blend concealer
Hawko 1/31/2008 8:15:00 PM
I had liver patches on both side of face d/t falling asleep under those sunlamp back in the 70's, although they had lightened considerable, thanks to Kojilac-C. I finally got the guts to have a custom blend concealer done, that is after I got the custom blend foundation home & tried out first. The MUA was mixing & trying it on my melasma area; added a little something & applied again. Let me tell you, when I got home & looked into the mirror .... What liver spot, where is it !!! It is worth every penny, although it may be costly to some. That little tube is going to last at least over a year. One thing to improve upon will be to have an eye-liner brush tip instead of the sponge applicator. EDIT: I am changing my lippies from 4 to 2, something about the chemistry of this concealer, which is like a heavier runny fdn, does not agreed with other brands of fdn, if I used this on PX fdn, there is no problem. On several occasions, I put it on , say Lancome fdn, this concealer changed to an orange colour. For the price PX charged, there are tons of concealers that works better than this. eg. Cinema Secret, CdP, Shu.

Treatments -L'Oreal - Wrinkle Decrease Collagen Filler
Hawko 1/29/2008 9:37:00 PM
This is a good moisturizer, the collagen application is topical, not injectable. Regardless of the name, it doesn't fill any lines. What I really really like about this product is when I tend to be a bit heavy handed on the powder/mineral foundation or the skin should be more moisturized. I would distribute evenly this cream on both palms & patted my face. Voila, moist & dewy without disturbing the MU, and during the day when the crow's feet area tended to be dried, I squeezed about an inch on my ring finger & patted in the area. A tube last quite a long time when used like this. I stocked up on 5 of these babies for $40 on e-bay.

Moisturizers -Alpha Hydrox - Enhanced Lotion - 10% AHA
Hawko 1/29/2008 8:36:00 PM
This is same as the 10% cream, love, love it. But don't over-do it though as skin can become too thin. Skin appeared clearer & poreless. I applied a thicker layer of this on, skipping the eye area, wait 20 minutes or so then layer moisturiser on top when needed. No long available in Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada, but the company will do mail orders. BTW, the texture is much much better than that of Paula's.

Moisturizers -Alpha Hydrox - 10% Enhanced Cream
Hawko 1/29/2008 8:31:00 PM
This is a great product, they no longer market in Canada, but mail orders will be taken. I got mine through e-bay. I tended to overuse it last summer & stopped for a while, now in the middle of winter, I was searching high & low for make-up b/c my face looks sick. The product arrived in the mail, upon the first application, great, great improvement. I used the 12% souffle before & find no difference with the texture. They both vanished, no tacky feeling compared to the NeoStrata. Manual exfoliation with scrubs (crushed seeds or aluminum oxide) is no comparasion to that. For those who complained about foundation/mineral powder that accentuated their pores, try this product & watch for the improvement upon powder application.

Blush -Bare Escentuals - Blush in Hint
Hawko 1/28/2008 10:11:00 PM
This is suppose one of the more subtle color in the BE blush collection. Regardless of the color, its the shine I hate in this product, for those skin that agrees with this "shine", will refer it as "luminous". Definitely not for me.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Foundation #3
Hawko 1/28/2008 10:03:00 PM
I bought this due to the raves & hyped up ad on Sephora. I bought a lot of foundation throughout the years, none disappointed me as much as this product. I don't breakout/acne, my most concern is to even out my medium olive skin tone. I have 2.3 and 3.0, they are all too pink, but the worst part is the shine!! They recommended buffing is the essential part, not more powder for coverage, but more buffing. I was in a rush one day, & tended to be a little heavy handed plus that day was a quite hot. I just put it on without checking under different lights. When I arrived at my destination & looked in the mirror, OMG, my face was like the tin man in Wizard of Oz !!! All their blush are just as shiny as their foundation. I am glad it works for other people, but for me, will never re-purchase.
