Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam Cyndi [DISCONTINUED]

I guess I am a minority in not liking this lipstick (apparently 96% would buy it again, wow!). I tend to like more pink tones (I love the Gaga glam lipstick), and this one is just too much for me. Perhaps because it has corally undertones, and the blush I usually use (Benefits Coralista) also does, so I cant really wear it everyday. I think this color would probably look good on most, though, and I'm confident that, if paired with a good lipgloss over it (like any ELF Hypershine gloss, which is what I use) it could look very classy and nice. I wouldn't buy it again, and if I had bought it from a drugstore I would probably return it, but since the money goes to a good cause I shall keep it.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam Gaga

I am biased towards liking this lipstick off the bat because of its Lady Gaga-ness. But.. I really do love it. I never wear lipsticks because I don't like the way they look on me, this one I think I can pull off, strangely. Strangely because, as one other reviewer put it, this shade (if applied heavily) is pretty much the color of pepto bismol. Which is bad only because this color is likely to wash someone out. However, with a gloss over, this lipstick looks like a very cute pink, and, as others have pointed out, you can apply it very sheer-ly if you are worried about looking like a pale beast. I have medium toned skin and it works just fine on me. The one star off is because I basically HAVE to wear it with lipgloss over, to make the color more everyday-wearable, for me. I cannot use it on its own. Also, it doesnt last very long on the lips and if you dont prime your lips first in some way (chapstick or whatever) it will reveal any cracks/imperfections in your lips. Still, worth it, not really that expensive and the money goes to a good cause.

Treatments -Aussie - 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep

This works awesomely well. I have very very dry hair, and have tried tons of different hair products. TONS. Very few live up to their claims to moisturize, some seem to strip my hair and make them even dryer. This one, though, definitely makes my hair moist and soft after a use. Also, it's cheap!

Scrubs -BeneFit Cosmetics - Honey Snap Out of It Face Scrub
rated 3 of 5
gorbe 2/15/2010 2:57:00 PM

It is a good scrub, not the best, and not cheaply priced. As others have pointed out, the smell is amazing, and it's cool that the texture of the beads in it is so fine. My skin definitely looked brighter after one use.. whether it made any significant changes in my complexion for the duration that I used the product (a few x's a week).. not sure. Also, there is a fairly large amount of product in here but I forgot about this product and didn't use it for months and when I opened it it had clearly gone bad. I can't get another one even if I felt like it because I'm pretty sure they don't make this product anymore.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Burt's Bees Miracle Salve
rated 5 of 5

I use this (with great effectiveness, I'd say) to de-frizz my hair throughout the day. I apply it all over my hands, and then carefully smooth through my hair. I say carefully because this is really highly concentrated with oils (well it IS oil- the first ingredient is olive oil), so if you apply any more than just a BIT (especially on your hair) it will look greasy and disgusting. I learned that lesson the hard way. I imagine this product also can be used effectively for many other things, such as on problem areas for dry skin, or around fingernails, or maybe even on the lips, if needed. The tin packaging really isn't the most convenient (you have to unscrew it and then carefully get the desired amount into your hands), but it is cute, and I cant think of a better design, so I'm not complaining . Make sure your hands are clean, though, obviously, as using this product requires sticking your hands all over it. Not really a product to share with a friend. I keep this in my purse at all times and use it frequently. Also, as far as it being a "miracle", that's a bit arrogant... but it is useful, and a good price considering how much is in there (LOTS).

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Expert Eyes in Velvet Black
rated 4 of 5

A good deal for the price (I think I got two sticks for around four dollars). As others have pointed out, it really only applies easily (well, at all), if heated first (put a lighter under it for a few seconds or put it directly in a flame for like one second, if you do the latter, make sure to wait a minute before putting it on your face, obviously it will be hot..). The downside is, obviously, if you don't have a lighter handy, it is basically useless. I cannot use this on my eyelids as it is, it it way too hard and would just amount to me stabbing myself in the eye. Heated, though, it becomes soft and malleable while you are applying it (be fairly quick, though it dries pretty fast) and then sets into a hard finish. It is a great color for eyeliner, and if applied to a medium-thickness (as if really the only way I'm capable of applying is, given the width of the tip) can be used as a great eyeliner to put on before any kind of eyeshadow- especially a darker one- great for making a "smokey" eye.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Quick Eyes Cream Shadow - Rock Violet [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:56:00 PM

This is a pretty, relatively subtle purple eye shadow creme. It looks pretty with my green eyes, but would probably look even better with brown eyes. The application is smooth and it sets nicely- though it is NOT long lasting, on me. If applied up to the crease of the eyelid, it will definitely be creasing/gone by the end of the day. Just used as a liner, though, it works pretty nicely. I got this is a free sample with another Clinique purchase, which is good because I probably would have been disappointed if I had paid the full price for a full size product (I am sure, as with all Clinique products, it is not cheap). I would not buy this, as I'm sure there is a drugstore alternative at a much cheaper price.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Eggplant
rated 4 of 5

I was a bit disappointed by this- given the high concentration of this product and the (seemingly) nice brush included, I thought it would make application a breeze. It did not. The brush is useless, for me, I have to use a different one entirely. If you can master applying it in a thin line, the color is great! It also seems to last a reasonable amount of time, it's definitely not long lasting or waterproof, but works well enough for my needs. I find the packaging cute and I can tell that it will last a long time.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Cream Eyeshadow- #192 Envy
rated 4 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:46:00 PM

Very glittery, so apply sparingly unless you want to look like your eyelids are coated in green glitter. This product is packaged pretty nicely, (small and convenient for application) and though the shadow glides on smoothly as a cream, it quickly dries and kind of sets into more of a powder-finish, which is great. The color is very nice, I often use it with other green/brown colors to accent them and just make everything "pop" a bit more. I have had this for a long time and still have plenty in the tube, it will definitely last a while, which makes it a great deal.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Deep Renewal
rated 4 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:43:00 PM

This glides on very smoothly and instantly hydrates chapped lips, making them appear smooth and healthy. As far as it improving the texture of lips in general, as it claims to do, I am not so sure. It definitely doesn't hurt anything, though. It also contains both spf and Q10, which are good for skin, which is an added bonus. It is also reasonably priced. The only real downsides are the weird plastic packaging, and the fact that the consistency is so thick (generally a good thing, for me), but means that it wont really work under lipstick.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Concentrated Duo - Wicked #818
rated 4 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:38:00 PM

I am unable to resist purple things (eyeshadow included) so I had to get this. The gold is a good pairing for this duo, and can also be used with really ANY eyeshadow. Applied over the whole eyelid or just as a highlighter. The purple is very pigmented, dark, and matte, which is great, as you can use a small amount (perhaps as a liner) and get a lot out of it. I wouldn't really put the purple over my whole eyelid, unless it was night and I was trying to look very dramatic. Also, I just want to point out that I agree that the packaging on all these L'oreal HIP duos is not ideal. It opens on the top AND the bottom (there is a tiny little brush stored in the bottom). It's kind of irritating and clunky and could definitely be improved, packaging-wise. I will tolerate this, though, because of the general fabulous-ness of the colors.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Metallic Duo - Sculpted #106
rated 4 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:33:00 PM

Very similar to the "cheeky" duo in this line- I knew this buying it, held them next to each other, the pinkish shades especially are virtually identical in the pot- on the skin, though the "sculpted" one is much more copper-hued, and the main difference is the finish- this one is (as it claims) metallic. These two duos can definitely be paired together to great effect.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Single - Antique Jade
rated 4 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:29:00 PM

This is a very pretty color in the package, even prettier on the skin. It is very glittery, with a gold-ish undertone, so it's not subtle, but if you're going to rock green eyeshadow, subtle probably isn't the goal. I like it on my eyes (I have green eyes), and I tend to gravitate towards green eyeshadows in general. I also think this would look great with brown eyes. It is fairly highly pigmented, and reasonably long-lasting, especially given the good price.

Lip Treatments -Yes To Carrots - lip butter
rated 4 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:25:00 PM

This applies smoothly, hydrates lips, and has a light, fresh scent. I got it on sale at Walgreens (as many people did) so for what I paid for it, I am perfectly content- though I think this brand in general seems to be a bit overpriced (though perhaps worth it, I have not tried any of their other products). It is probably a bit more expensive than most drugstore products because it is organic, which is an added bonus if you are into that kind of thing.

Lip Treatments -Revlon - Beyond Natural Liptint SPF 15 ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
gorbe 2/12/2010 2:22:00 PM

I like this because it has a bit of color and is a bit lipstick-y, but really more chap-stick like in consistency and application- this is ideal for me as I am not a big lipstick fan. I have this in "nude" which is a very nice, calm shade. I have noticed, as others pointed out, that is a bit drying. It goes on smooth but after a few hours is gone and my lips feel a bit dry. At this point I just put on some chapstick and re-apply (or just stick with chapstick). It's not really long-lasting, so if you're looking for a lipstick for a night out, this isn't it. It also smells pleasant, I guess just makeup-y, but I enjoy it for some reason.
