Lip Gloss -Sephora - Super Shimmer Lip Gloss
cloroxcowgirl 5/12/2009 6:15:00 PM
I, too, recently got this as a birthday gift from Sephora. I wasn't expecting much because most Sephora products I've tried are just ok. But I really like these glosses so far. The colors are great (Petal Pink: pale pink, Rosy Glow: berry pink, Bronzed Beauty: dark rosey red). They have a very very subtle shimmer to them, and are natural looking and non-sticky. They have a Kool-Aid scent that isn't very strong. I was pleasantly surprised by the staying power - I put some on and then went to take an exam for school - two hours later after lots of lip biting (!) and the lip gloss was still on! Not bad, Sephora! EDIT: I have been using these glosses for about a week now and every time I wear them I notice a slight stinging sensation on my lips that lasts for at least 5 minutes. Too bad because I really like the colors, the shine and the staying power of these glosses, but I must detract one lippie.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Round Lip Gloss - Peach
cloroxcowgirl 5/8/2009 10:05:00 PM
I bought this round lip gloss after reading many reviews about them, knowing full well that the smell might be off putting and the packaging might not be so great. First off, Peach is a really gorgeous color. It's a pretty sheer peach with just a pinch of pink, and some beautiful shimmer to it. I really couldn't be happier with the color. The staying power is not bad either for such an inexpensive gloss - it stays on for at least a good 30-45 minutes (sans meal or lots of drink). The packaging is not so bad, I haven't had the stopper break yet but am told NYX fixed the design. The smell IS a little weird - I think a previously reviewer of another color described it best by saying it smells (and tastes) like lemon handy wipes. For this reason, I will probably try the Mega Shine glosses if I decide to buy NYX lippies again. But overall, not too shabby.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Dallas
cloroxcowgirl 5/8/2009 9:26:00 PM
I had high hopes that this matte pale pink e/s would be nicely pigmented and work well as a base for deeper colors. I wanted something along the lines of Stila matte e/s. Dallas looks very promising in the pan - like a pretty strawberry milk shake pink - but goes on extremely sheer - I can barely tell a difference even on my very pale lids. I even tried it with UD primer potion but it didn't show up much better. The only way I could use this e/s is as a highlighter, and even then it might not show up well enough. I have been pretty happy with the other NYX singles I've tried so far - but save your money on this one, gals.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Original Glo Formula
cloroxcowgirl 5/5/2009 6:41:00 PM
I have now tried all the EM foundations and I have the same problem with all of them - not enough coverage, and accentuates fine lines. I actually don't find Original Glo to be nearly as shiny as BE foundations. I have fairly oily combo skin but I have not had a major issue with looking greasy with Original Glo (it helps to use a powder to set the foundation). I like the very subtle sheen it gives my skin, great for summer when all you want is sheer coverage and a slight glow (hence the name). If I want more coverage I will usually mix this with BE foundation or just use a good concealer with it. Good warm weather foundation!

Loose Powders -Everyday Minerals - Finishing Dust
cloroxcowgirl 5/4/2009 11:12:00 PM
I recently got a sample of this from EM online, because I was in need of a decent powder to set my makeup and control shine. I really like this powder so far. It does a nice job of setting my makeup, and control shine pretty well (I have an oily T zone). I did notice one day after a few hours my face started to get a little oily, but not too much. This translucent powder is finely milled and leaves my skin feeling velvety. I think I will repurchase in the larger size when I run out.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - The Happy Pill bath bomb
cloroxcowgirl 5/4/2009 6:53:00 PM
I received this bath bomb as an Xmas gift, my first one ever from LUSH. I really enjoyed using it. It made my bath water smell, look and feel like grapefruit soda - fizzy and light pink. It smelled great. Left a bit of a stain in the tub though. I would purchase it again and would like to try more LUSH bath bombs.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Mascara (Black Brown)
cloroxcowgirl 5/3/2009 6:43:00 PM
I really wanted to like this mascara. I have been looking for a reasonably priced, mostly naturally derived mascara and got excited when I saw some good reviews for this one. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. It's not a terrible mascara IMO, just so-so. The good: I like that the formula is very smooth, and glides right through the lashes. The brush is nice and soft also. It never irritates my eyes (unusual for mascara) and washes off easily. The bad: It flakes. Every time I wear it. This is a pet peeve of mine with mascara and is the reason I usually go for water proof. Also, I agree with other reviewers that it gives spider lashes, and it dries before you can separate them. Annoying. I think that if L'oreal came out with a water proof version of this mascara I would try it, but I won't repurchase the regular Bare Naturale. The search for a good natural mascara continues . .

Eye Shadow -Everyday Minerals - To Do List
cloroxcowgirl 5/1/2009 4:17:00 PM
This is the first EM eye shadow I have purchased that I am not too impressed with. First of all, I thought it would be more of a mid-pink, but it is pretty light. It shows up on my lids almost as a champagne color. I like champagne e/s but To Do List also goes on really unevenly, the color does not get evenly distributed on my lids. I've never had this problem with EM shadows before. I will probably try to use it again, since it is a nice color and I hate to waste e/s, but definitely won't repurchase. EDIT: I found out, kind of by accident, that EM shadows and To Do List in particular show up way better when applied wet. It actually turns out to be the color described online (dusty pink with scarlet pearl) when applied with a damp eye shadow brush. I'm liking the color a lot more this way and may repurchase.

Eye Shadow -NYX - White
cloroxcowgirl 5/1/2009 4:11:00 PM
I agree, this e/s is a verrrry pigmented white. Much more pigmented then any other NYX e/s I own. It is a matte, almost bluish, geisha-face-paint white. The first time I tried this color as a base all over the lid I couldn't get any other colors to show up on top of it except for my UD Deluxe Shadows! It's also a bit chalky. So I think it is better for a highlighter or if you want a very dramatic white and have liquid liner or other super pigmented shadows to use with it. Mineral e/s and even some other NYX shadow will not show up on top of this.

Eye Shadow -Everyday Minerals - Ginger Peach Eye Shadow
cloroxcowgirl 5/1/2009 4:03:00 PM
I was hoping that Ginger Peach would be a true peach colored e/s when I saw it on the website (the colors are hard to discern sometimes online). When I received it in the mail it turned out the color is more of a bronze-peach. The first time I tried it on I didn't like the color on me at all, I thought it was too brown for me. But I eventually gave it another try and now I love this color. It is a great summery shade which makes my blue eyes pop! Ginger Peach is pretty pigmented, and very shimmery, so I use it in the crease with a similar but less shimmery color on the lid and a vanilla color as highlight. It looks perfect with Snooze Bar from EM as a blush, they are very similar in color. Lovely!

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Snooze Bar blush
cloroxcowgirl 4/25/2009 3:29:00 PM
This blush looked like a shimmery light brown on the EM website, but is more of a cross between shimmery peach and bronze. It is a beautiful, natural looking color that works well even on my fair, cool toned skin. Snooze Bar is the only bronze blush so far that I can get away with wearing, I love this color so much! It looks especially good at the end of summer/beginning of fall when I have some color from the sun naturally, and works quite well as a bronzer. Like every EM blush I've tried so far the color is gorgeous and the formula is good quality. I will repurchase or try to swap for the large size of this because it's such a unique color.

Fragrances -Stila - CREME BOUQUET ROLL ON
cloroxcowgirl 3/27/2009 2:48:00 PM
I originally fell in love with Creme Bouquet when I bought the hair refresher. This scent is perfect for your hair. Oddly enough, the hair refresher has more of a vanilla scent, whereas the perfume has more of a baby powder emphasis, which I am not as crazy about. It could just be the roll-on. But I still love this fragrance. It is very sweet and feminine, but not over powering. Vanilla, powder, woodsy notes are what I get from this scent. It actually smells like marshmallows on me as it warms up. This is probably my favorite perfume ever, its a shame the Stila can't keep it in stock. And, unlike Jade Blossom (which I love also, don't get me wrong) it lasts for hours!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Apricot Moose
cloroxcowgirl 3/26/2009 6:54:00 PM
Just received this from Cherry Culture, my first NYX e/s! I agree with the other reviewers that Apricot Moose (love the name!) is a very subtle peach frost, I thought the color would show up a bit more. But it is still very pretty and serves the purpose of a daytime wash of color or a highlight for deeper peach or orange e/s. I will report back on how well it wears, but so far am impressed by the quality of the product and the packaging for the price. Will purchase more colors!

Fragrances -Demeter - Laundromat Pick Me Up Spray
cloroxcowgirl 3/26/2009 4:54:00 PM
I received this fragrance in a swap, excited to try it. I love laundry inspired scents and also usually like Demeter fragrances. And I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, this scent smells NOTHING like a laundromat. From any era. To me what it smells like is a cross between hairspray and sunscreen (I know I am not the only one here to make this comparison). It has a strong alcohol scent also, enough to give me a headache. Regrettably, I think I'm going to have to swap this one away. Lesson learned: try before you swap!

Lip Treatments -Tarte - Frxtion
cloroxcowgirl 3/25/2009 7:31:00 PM
I bought this product about a month ago and already it is well on its way to being used up :( and I use it about once a day. Frxtion works great for exfoliating and moisturizing lips, it does exactly what it claims to do. The lip balm and brown sugar scrub are both high quality and smell and taste wonderful (think of a decadent caramel sundae with vanilla ice cream - yum!). Between this and the fact that my lips have never felt so smooth and soft, I would definitely repurchase this product, esp. in the winter time. It gets rid of flaky, dry lips. I just wish it lasted longer!
