Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Coral Reef
1017 7/9/2010 8:22:00 PM
Very pretty color...just not for me. I saw a pic of a fellow MUA'r with red hair and very pale skin wearing this color and she looked AMAZING! On me the color just looks, 'eh". Not bad, but no pop or wow like it looked like on the other girl. FYI I have dark brown (almost black hair), brown eyes and I am an NW20 (Italian looks, German skin). Other pinky coral colors like MAC Love Nectar and Pink Grapefruit look great on me. But Revlon's Coral Reef is a bit creamer and more coral than I think I can pull off. But it is a beautiful color

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
1017 7/7/2010 5:03:00 PM
This doesn't seem to do much for length...I mean it's there, but it isn't WOW! However, it does create volume and a nice thick and dark lash line. I don't know if I value the volume over losing some of the length my other mascara provides (CG Volume Exact)....it seems to give a little bit of both where as Colossal seems to focus just on volume. My cousin uses it and her lashes are rockin'! She looks very Megan Fox'ish and this mascara helps complete the look. I have bigger Disney eyes...so I like some length mixed in with my volume. Maybe I just don't apply enough or maybe this just isn't meant for length. But if you like Maybelline's mascaras...I would try this. It also reminds me of the same effect I get from Diorshow.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Volume Exact [DISCONTINUED]
1017 7/7/2010 5:01:00 PM
If you loved Max Factor Volume Couture...you should be pretty darn happy about this! I want to say they are identical (both were made by P&G, same brush, same ingredients in the same order with the exception of the last few ingredients). Now that MF has left the US this is my go to mascara to replace my dearly missed and still mourned MF Volume Couture. I have tried all the old ones out there (drugstore and high end) and even the new ones like Lash Blast Fusion, Falsies, Colossal...and none come as close to my Volume Couture and Volume Exact does. Now for waterproof I do prefer Lash Blast Waterproof...but I only wear that in the summer. This is my go to regular mascara now Fall-Spring.

Treatments -Olay - Professionel Pro-X Discoloration Fighting Concentrate
1017 7/6/2010 8:05:00 AM
This product is supposed to (as described by Olay) "Helps fade the appearance of overactive pigmentation - such as age spots and brown spots." Maybe it was just time, maybe it was this. I have tried other things for this issue, but when I started using this...my old acne scars started to fade. It has not done squat for age spots...but I think it really, really helped my acne marks. Here's my back story on the product if you are curious. FYI - I have used this for at least 5 months now and I am still on the same tube. I just use a drop on the problem areas...and they are gone now. In my mid-30's here and all of a sudden those monthly one or two zits were starting to leave discoloration after their visit. And as soon as one would heal, another zit in its place would come in almost the exact same spot! It felt like even when the zit healed, I was still left with a reminder mark. Mine you, I don't have severe acne scars. But like I said, my monthly friends were starting to leave calling cards. As a result of this, I changed two things. First, I went back on BPO (Proactiv Repair Lotion...just the lotion, not the whole regime) and this helped prevent any new zits. Second was to start using the Olay PPX Discoloration Fighting Concentrate. Fast foward to 4-5 months later, my skin looks great again. And there are no reminders of zits from the past. Again, this has not even made a dent in my age spots. But it has faded my acne marks.

Eye Shadow -BeneFit Cosmetics - Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner - Tattle Tale
1017 7/3/2010 1:44:00 PM
UPDATE: 4/18/11: I barely use this since discovering MAC Soft Ochre. Soft Ochre covers my pinky/purple-ness better and never looks like too much sheen. Soft Ochre also makes a much, much better base and looks a bit more natural on the lid. After wearing Soft Ochre, Birthday Suit and Skinny Jeans so much, to go back to Tattle Tale just feels like way too much sheen. Such a pretty color, but not feeling that wearable on me of late. UPDATE 9/12/10 - Still beautiful, but Birthday Suit is now my all time fave CC. It never goes on wrong or feels off. Now that my tan is fading, TT is starting to feel a bit "summery" and off on me. Still looks gorgeous on the lid though with my brown eyes. ORIGINAL POST: Well...hello Disney eyes! I am NW20 with deep set brown eyes and dark brown, almost black hair. Tattle tale does for me what MAC Femme Fi does for me...gives me the brightest biggest eyes and makes them POP! Since FF is LE, I am very excited to find this. And I have tried every comparable e/s out there looking for something like Femme Fi and the magic it holds over my eyes...this is what I have been looking for. This is the perfect lid color for me. It is truly a "butter cream" color. I have a purplish pink tinge around my deep set eyes (and dark under eye circles). Needless to say, I can look very sickly on bad days. But if I put on a color like Tattle Tale (or Femme Fi)...a butter cream with a hint of golden to it on my lids/brow bones...I look so healthy, bright eyed and wow (no more allergy shiners!). I have received numerous compliments since switching to the butter cream colors on my beautiful eyes. First, I love the color of Tattle Tale. And second, I love the "highlight". Not frost (hate frost)...no glitter...just a soft sheen. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
1017 7/3/2010 1:36:00 PM
UPDATE: Still a good mascara for drama...but as much as I am not a waterproof mascara fan, I would suggest using the waterproof version of this over the regular. The regular is very messy and wet. ORIGINAL POST: I am not usually a Maybelline fan, but this is a pretty nice mascara. I love dark and dramatic when it comes to lashes and this does a good job of delivering. I am using the wp version now with summer, I have not tried the regular version yet.

Shampoo -Aura - Pure Organic Shampoo
1017 7/3/2010 1:34:00 PM
Wow...this stuff is a lot like Aveda's. And just like Aveda's it made my head itch soooo bad! My wavy fine curly hair also felt very dry after using this. I don't understand where all the love for this comes. Yes, it is a great Aveda dupe...but it is still very bad for my hair. FYI- All other items remained the same in my routine...I just changed the shampoo. So I know that the hair that followed was due to the Aura Pure Shampoo. I would love for some of the past reviewers to note if they are still using this or not...it can't just be hair it is drying out.

Eye Shadow -BeneFit Cosmetics - Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in R.S.V.P.
1017 6/30/2010 12:00:00 PM
This reminds me sooo much of MAC's Naked Lunch, but this has less frost and more shimmer to it. A pinky champagne color. I also like this better than MAC Bare Study that was WAY too frosty for me.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Full Cover Concealer
1017 6/30/2010 9:08:00 AM
I bought MUFE Lift and Full Cover concealers to try to use on dark under eye circles only. Lift felt better in this area & was slightly brighter, but didn't offer as much cover as the Full Cover. The Full Cover however is a bit dry and dull. Full Cover would be great on trouble spots on the face, but not for the under eye area...it seemed to accentuate my wrinkles. Since neither one was HG status, I returned both and will be returning to my Benefit Erase Paste (it looks better in pictures than either MUFE). I will say that the Full Cover would be GREAT if you are really trying to hide trouble spots...it does cover nicely. It just is not great for under the eye..which is where I need all my help.

Concealers -Milani - HD Advance Concealer
1017 6/30/2010 9:02:00 AM
I bought three concealers at once to try. MUFE Full Cover, Lift and Milani's HD. Milani's HD is the only I kept. I am NW20 and #2 seems fine for me. Mine you I only use concealer for dark under eye circles. This seems to just as a good of a job as both MUFE concealers in this case and was much cheaper and easier to get. For the price...this is a nice little concealer.

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Bare Study
1017 6/30/2010 8:10:00 AM
If you are in your 20's or younger (or have no problem with frost) this is a beautiful color. It looks icy champagne in the pot, but goes on with a slight golden sheer champagne tone to it...no icy feel at all. It sounds like heaven on my NW20 skin. But I am (as I write this) almost 36. I have vowed to avoid frosts as they are not my friend and creat a major crepey eye. Now sheen is ok (love Veluxe Pearls buttery feel), but Bare Study is pure FROST. So the major frosty feel partnered with the a bit more than I want to do in application led me to return this. Bottom line - If you are younger and love to play w/makeup...this is a keeper...4 lippies. If you are a bit more mature or just don't do makeup like you did back in the day...this is really a waste of money...2 lippies.

Shampoo -Alba Botanica - Rainforest Acai Antioxidant Shampoo
1017 6/21/2010 1:05:00 PM
UPDATE 4/20/12: Still using this with the same great results...so much bounce and body w/out that dried out or weighed down feeling. I have tried so many others, most recently ABBA Color Care poo (that was awful), and this is still the best. So cheap, but so hard to find. At least drugstore.com still carries it :) FYI - As mentioned, it is runny, but just pour some in one hand, rub your hands together and then apply to your wet hair. I see so much lather this way. I recently went on a new shampoo spree trying some others that I bought on discount. Well, I am back to Alba. And just because this one is good, don't assume or judge all Alba shampoos the same. This one is a standout product, in general and in the Alba line. ORIGINAL POST: I am very intrigued by this...so far I am really impressed and surprised. I expected it to be "eh" but tried it for something different. I was completely blown away. It lathers (but takes a bit to work in) and leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth. With this shampoo, I even have good 2nd & 3rd day hair! This NEVER happens (or hasn't with any other shampoo). I love the scent..not too sweet, not too herbally...some where in the middle. The label says it "Cleanses and helps protect hair from damage". All I care is that it seems to be a great daily shampoo for my very fine wavy locks. It seems to be the perfect balance between moisture yet still keeping volume (a huge challenge for my hair type). I hope this keeps working so great...cuz after a week, I really like it. I think the ingredients look pretty good too. Here are the ingredients: Alba Botanicals Rainforest Acai Antioxidant Shampoo: Water, Aloe Abarbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Passiflora Edulis (Passion Fruit) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) Seed Oil, Bertholletia Excelsa (Brazil Nut) Seed Oil, Panthenol (Vit B5), Allantoin, Guar Hydroxypropltrimonium Chloride, Polysorbate 20, Citric Acid, Ethylhexlglycerin, Potassiium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance (Parfum).

Shampoo -Sexy Hair Concepts - Volumizing Dry Shampoo
1017 6/16/2010 7:44:00 PM
I would not call this a dry shampoo. I would call this a Volumizing product. Yes no white residue and Yes you get volume. But it does not make your hair feel "fresh". Your hair will feel very, very dirty like you have industrial strength hairspray in your hair. Seriously, this was like Backcomb in a Bottle with out the white stuff and a bit less hold. So if you just want volume and don't care about gunked up hard to wash later hair...this is good. Be warned though, my head itched and itched after I used this. It felt awful (itchy, dirty, gunked up). I much prefer Pssst for a dry shampoo. That smells fresh and clean and leaves my hair feeling fluffed, not gunky. Also Pssst doesn't make my head itch the way BSH Vol. Dry Shampoo did...I mean it really, really itched!

Concealers -Kevyn Aucoin - The Sensual Skin Enhancer
1017 6/16/2010 9:04:00 AM
The is the single most disappointing product of my makeup junkie life. I FINALLY get to check this out and what I expected was a creamy, high coverage, decent color selection product that was a kick butt concealer/multipurpose product. What I realized when I finally checked it out was that it is PASTY, not creamy, the colors all skew insanely yellow/orange (the MA couldn't find a decent match for my NW20 skin). It is very pigmented and you would only need a dot to do the trick, but OH BOY...everything else was a hot mess for. I walked out of Nordies...sooooo disappointed. I took a sample home but it isn't getting any better. I guess if you had serious things to cover up, this may be good, but not for me.
