Eye Shadow -Nicole Miller Cosmetics - StyleSetters Collection (eyeshadow)
rated 2 of 5

I bought around 6 shades to fill my over-priced empty palette from NM. ;-) I tried to choose a mix of colors that would work together or alone. I have never been one to think you should have to mix water into a shadow to get a better look. I can always tell when the ladies have done this, and to me it looks unnatural, or better yet, over done. Anyway....the shadow is a very fine milled powder and it goes on very smooth. I do continue to use NM shadows on days when I do not feel like wearing makeup that stands out, or is very noticeable. NM shadows are very soft, silky, and smooth. They just have no staying power to last very long, not enough pigmentation in most of her shades. I will use the ones I have until they get too old, but I will not buy anymore. There are just too many better shadows on the market these days, and the prices are better for the quality.

Foundations -Nicole Miller Cosmetics - Day Cover Creme to Powder Foundation
rated 1 of 5
Magixz 12/18/2008 9:31:00 AM

Not for me. Too caked looking and thick. Makes all my wrinkles look worse. NM really needs to re-think her makeup line and improve the quality to get any more of my cash. Her collection cost me a lot of money and so far none of it was worth the price. I wanted to love her cosmetics and perfumes, but.........

Lipstick -Nicole Miller Cosmetics - Lipstick in Baby Sheer
rated 1 of 5
Magixz 12/18/2008 9:23:00 AM

I have only one NM lipstick in a different color and would not buy another one. The shade was off from the color chart by about 50% or more. The smell (peppermint) was disagreeable to my senses. The texture of the lipstick itself was way to thick and sticky. Seemed almost dry to me. Nicole Cosmetics is advertised as a high end product, and the prices reflex their advertisement, but the products themselves are cheap. Just my opinion, but I bought a lot of this brand of makeup, and I have always felt like I wasted my money. Sorry Nicole, but even your perfume smells cheap! There was only one really great perfume to me and they discontinued it. ;-) The bottle was way too small for the price anyway....so I guess it is ok. So to me ladies, NM needs to revamp her product lines and formulas.

Moisturizers -Mary Kay - Intense Moisturizing Cream
rated 2 of 5
Magixz 12/18/2008 9:07:00 AM

I was sent a sample tube from my online rep. I actually liked it. It had a very light lady like smell, and was very moist. My face felt very smooth as well. I ordered the large jar right away. I have never been pleased with the purchase. The product in the jar has no smell at all, and the texture of the cream seems very different. It feels almost too heavy and greasy to me. I always have to wash my hair the next morning because it picks up the grease from my face. YUCK! I get this a lot from moisture cream because I have very long hair, but even more so with this product. I will not buy again. Once I wash it off in the morning, I am glad, and my skin has reappearances of dry areas. For the price, this could be improved by MK.

Lipstick -Mary Kay - Lipsticks
rated 2 of 5
Magixz 12/18/2008 8:40:00 AM

I have only one Mary Kay lipstick for now and I agree with some of the other ladies. I chose what was supposed to be a pinkish light frost color, but when it arrived it was more of a brownish mauve in the container. It was so very light in color that even after several applications, it barely was noticeable. I purchased this lipstick about 4 months ago and there is no smell other than the awful smell of the no smell kind of lipsticks. How can companies say their products do not have a smell when the smell is that of an unnatural waxy type aroma? I told my online MK rep. about my dislike of the color and lipstick, but she did not offer me a replacement. The lipstick is creamy, but not long lasting in my opinion. After reading the reviews about the change in formula, and them being kind of like Mac lipstick now as far as the smell, I put I would buy again. I do enjoy the smell of Mac lipstick, and the ingredients that allow the smell to enter the tube. So I would buy MK lipstick again. It is not that expensive, but I would want to go to a party or store and view the colors for myself first.

Moisturizers -DDF - DDF Dramatic Radiance TRF Cream
rated 2 of 5
Magixz 12/17/2008 11:13:00 AM

I got several of these as samples from Sephora. It took me a while to get around to trying it. I returned to Sephora to request a trial of something that would work on my dry skin and improve my wrinkles. I was handed more packages of DDF. I remembered I had several of these already after I got home. So I started to use them knowing I had enough for a really good trial. One is this cream and the other a gel type. They also gave me the eye relief. So perhaps I am unable to write a decent review, but one of them did the ball thing really bad! Since it happened after I applied this cream, I believe it may have been this one. The smell to me is not a good smell either. Perhaps at night when the smell does not interfere with any of my other smells?? Anyway, I would not buy this product again. I have used it for about a week (since I have so many now) and see no difference. Two different Sephora stores pushing the same product so hard and heavy, saying, "Oh try this one. It is my very favorite, and works really great!" Well, not on me. I wonder why Sephora is hard selling this line? Perhaps to rid their shelves of a product that does not really do too much, and is not selling well?? Would Sephora do a thing like that! I love Sephora!! I really want to find a good product that does what it says it does for wrinkles and smoothness for makeup application. So far only Chanel seems to be the better one. I will keep trying other products before I invest in the Chanel line however. I want the best product I can find for my money, and they are all very expensive for what we get. If I can find products that actually do what they say, and make a real difference in my skin and appearance then I can justify the expense. Otherwise.....why waste more money on useless items. If anyone has a product that actually does work on wrinkles, dry skin, and acts as a great makeup base without balling, please email me and let me know. As you can see, I am an older lady. I have tried so many products over the years from over the counter brands, Avon, Mary Kay, Estee L, Chanel, and a lot of the newer names out there. I am desperate to find one that I can count on. DDF does not seem to do the job. Add another one to my do not buy list. ;-0

Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Makeup Base
rated 2 of 5
Magixz 12/13/2008 10:19:00 AM

I decided to buy this primer over some of the other more expensive brands because of some reviews I read on Sephora.com. I do like saving money on items that are rarely seen if they do a good job. I have tried the high end primers, almost all of them. They do an ok job, but nothing worth bragging too much about. Some do the ball thing, hate that! We pay so much for a primer, apply as directed, and it balls under pressure anyway! LOL Not a fun thing to deal with when I am in a hurry to get to the job. It is a light cream with a tint of glisten to it. It does not affect my makeup color however, but actually is designed to show less signs of aging. I do love the light fragrance when applying. It is a creamy lotion rather than a clear gel yuckie thing. I like that too. Up Date: Had to change my opinion after using this product for a week or so. It does do the ball up thing. I tried using less, but it still balled up. The tint started to come out more and more as I used the tube also. It looked very dark in the mirror to me and was almost embarrassing to me to think it may of showed through with my foundation powder. ;-) I really wanted this primer to work for me. The price was better, the smell was nice, but the product did not deliver as it stated it would. I returned it and chose the Smashbox this time. The verdict is still out on this one. I will write a review later.

Lipstick -Guerlain - kiss Kiss Pretty in Pink #563
rated 5 of 5
Magixz 12/13/2008 10:07:00 AM

Absolutely love this color! This is the perfect pink with a hint of blues. As for Guerlain lipstick, let's face it, there is no better for quality. The packaging is top of the line, maybe even a little heavy, but at least you do not drop your favorite lippie! My favorite Guerlain lipstick colors are getting harder and harder to find, so perhaps I will order another 563 now before it too is on the back order page. I feel soon we will all have to be ordering our Guerlain lipsticks from the Guerlain website itself and have to wait weeks for delivery! Most high end stores do not carry the lipsticks, and other U.S.A. sites have limited colors. I think once you ladies try Guerlain lipsticks, you will rarely reach for your other brands, unless of course you are looking for a discontinued color for a close match. ;-) Creamy, moist, stays forever, texture like silk, smells beautiful!

Lipstick -Guerlain - Kiss Kiss Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
Magixz 12/13/2008 9:50:00 AM

I purchased this online at Sephora.com in the limited edition Butterfly collection. I chose the 515 shade. So happy I did! The color is so perfect for days when pink is just not quite dark enough, red is just too far gone, and mauve won't fit in. The feel, texture, moisture, cream amount to me is just the right recipe. Anyone who knows and loves the pleasant light fragrance of a Guerlain lipstick is going to love this one. It is not an over-powering smell, but rather a smell that lets you know you are applying a lavish, quality product from Guerlain. If you can still find this color, buy it, you will be glad you did.

Blush -Estee Lauder - Tender Blush-Fresh Plum
rated 4 of 5
Magixz 12/10/2008 8:07:00 AM

I bought this item a few weeks back. I do like it, but it takes forever to get the color to show enough. It is so sheer, but lovely shade once enough is applied. I gave it a 4 overall rating because of this. I say I would buy again, but I think there is enough here to last until it is too old to use anymore. I like many shades of blush to match my eye shadow for the day. EL goes on smooth to the touch and never looks caked. One reason I continue to buy EL line. Luxury products without the extreme price tag of the other brands.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Beauty Bar
rated 5 of 5
Magixz 12/8/2008 9:20:00 AM

Dove has always been my favorite bar soap. It softens and does not leave that tight dry feeling to the skin. Myself, husband and two teenage sons all use this soap for showers and we all love it. If the store is out of this brand, I do buy 'Olay, but it does not last as long due to the melt down of the soap. By melt down, I mean how it gets all gooie just sitting there after a shower. Dove does not do this. I will continue to buy Dove for out bar soap needs.

Eye Shadow -Hard Candy - Delusional Eye Shadow Quartet
rated 5 of 5
Magixz 12/8/2008 9:11:00 AM

After reading the reviews of Delusional colors and how they mix and retrieve various gleams of color in various light, I knew I wanted it for my collection. I lucked out and found it yesterday during Penny's Sephora 20% off sale! This is my first Hard Candy item. I do love the colors and I love the way they glide on so smoothly. The shadow blended great into one another, and it stayed put all day without a primer! This has got to be a good quality item. I will buy more of the Hard Candy line as I find items that fit into my collection. Delusional is a real usable treat for eye shadow junkie's such as myself. There is a little cute sparkle brush applicator also. I noticed the other shades did not have this same cute little brush. I do not believe it will be good to apply shadows, but it is special, and perhaps I will be able to use it for brows, or whatever. It adds sparkle and fun to the shadow kit. I think any young teen would love this for a first time shadow kit too, although I think if the shadow were applied too thick, it may not be appropriate for young ladies just starting to learn how to apply eye shadow. The colors are light in first appearance, but really stand out. Thanks for the reviews on this item! I do love the colors.

Cleansers -Jergens - All-Purpose Face Cream
rated 5 of 5
Magixz 12/6/2008 9:10:00 AM

This really is one of the best face creams available at a decent price still, and I hope it stays affordable! I have used jergens for years, and find it removes makeup faster than cold cream. I apply it evenly all over my face and throat using my hands, then I use a very warm wash towel to remove my makeup. The makeup comes off very easy. My skin always feels very clean, soft, and moist afterwards, never greasy. I personally love the smell of this cream. It is not over powering, or flowery like ponds, just pleasant and soothing. If you do have oily skin and prone to break outs, you may want to use an additional cleanser to dry you skin out more due to how moist this cream leaves your skin. I have never had a problem with jergens breaking my skin out. When I was a younger woman, I had oil prone areas, and the dreaded zit areas, but that was just due to hormones and the age factor. No worries young ladies...eventually the breaking out and the zits do go away. If we are all lucky this wonderful face cream will still be around for you all to use and enjoy as much as the most of us do now. Buy it ladies and save yourself some money on the other brands. This one is the best as far as a quality product, value for your $, and all around many uses. Did I mention...It smells very nice, calming, soothing to the senses, and it makes your skin feel sooo smooth and soft.

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream
rated 1 of 5
Magixz 12/6/2008 8:38:00 AM

I tried this when I could not find my long time favorite Jergens face cream. To me, it was like way too watery and the smell was just too much. Ponds use to be better than this.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Nadinola Cocoa Butter Cream
rated 5 of 5
Magixz 12/1/2008 8:46:00 AM

Wow! This is so great! To find other ladies who actually know about this cheap little jewel. I have been using this cream for years and I too love it! It is very reasonable, and it works great to smooth my heels, elbows, etc. It is getting impossible to find in my area however. I bought the last two jars from our KMart store a while back, and so far they have not restocked. I am hoping another store will supply it soon. Thanks for the post ladies!
