Blush -TheBalm - Down Boy
turnthisaround 11/10/2011 1:33:00 AM
I LOVE this blush! It's a great flush of color to the cheeks. It's very blendable and pigmented. So even if you grab too much, you can easily blend it out. I gently dabbed my brush in three times and was so surprised to see how much product I picked up. I really didn't end up needing that much but it's great how soft and smooth it is. Staying power is fantastic. Lasted several hours and didn't seem to fade at all. I'm also very very fair and this just complimented my cheeks and provided a natural looking flush. I'm very happy my TJ Maxx had it for ten dollars. I would even pay full price.

Eye Shadow -MAC - De-vil (Venomous Villians)
turnthisaround 11/10/2011 1:24:00 AM
this is a pretty awful shadow. I bought this at a cosmetic outlet and was so excited, only to be terribly disappointed. This is on par with the lowest level drug store eyeshadows. the color itself is very pigmented and has FANTASTIC staying power. But it was literally about impossible to apply. It's COMPLETELY patchy, unblendable and has decent fallout. I first thought it was the brush I was using, so I switched to a different one and the exact same thing. It'll apply to the first spot you touch on your lids and THAT'S IT. It won't blend out and trying to pick up more product and applying to the rest of the lid didn't work either. It looked as if a 3 year old tried to do my makeup. I managed to get it to somewhat work by taking another, clean brush and blending the crap out of it for my entire lid. I also used another shadow to help. Though the shadow blended out a little, it was the other shadow that really covered it all up and took over. There were hints of it underneath and such. I used UDPP and went out for a few hours and it didn't move. Prior to that was awful fallout. It kept going for at least ten minutes before all the fallout was cleaned up/subsided. I truly regret buying this. But i'm stubborn and hate to waste product so I'll try to use it as an accent color from time to time. I really do like the color so i'm determined to use it up and never think about it again. I could never recommend to anyone.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam V
turnthisaround 11/10/2011 1:11:00 AM
upon hearing great things about MAC lipsticks, I decided to go out and buy one. This is a fantastic lipstick overall. A great, neutralish red that can be paired with anything and isn't overpowering. It's sort of matte, so using a heavier hand on applying is needed. It goes on smooth and doesn't dry out my lips. The staying power could be better, though. After three or so hours, it's faded out quite a bit and this is without eating or drinking. It's why I can't give it a full five rating, though I wish I could. Despite that flaw, I'm very happy that I have it. And of course, the packaging is compact and looks good. I wish more product came with it also, especially considering the price. I will repurchase and will purchase many other lipsticks from MAC.

Polishes -OPI - You Don't Know Jacques!
turnthisaround 11/8/2011 7:00:00 PM
I bought this color due to all the great reviews. I'm extremely disappointed. The consistency was runny and extremely streaky. I have a few other OPI polishes and NONE of them are like that at all. I needed three coats to become opaque. Even then, in some lighting, the streakyness was very noticeable. It was messy and took a full day to truly dry. I use top coat and waited over an hour to even touch anything and it kept smudging. The following day it still smudged with normal daily hand use. After that it would chip and i don't even know how. I don't go around dragging my nails on brick walls or do any extreme activities. the only positives I can say is that the color is dynamic. In some light it looks like a purple and darker purple, grey and then it can look very very muddy....which I'm not a fan of. It's been four or so days and it's still very shiny. Overall, I truly regret buying this. I wasted almost ten dollars on something that's worth maybe four. I'm very confused as to how this gets such raving reviews. I will NOT repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - Lip Tar - Melange
turnthisaround 10/23/2011 12:29:00 AM
Melange is described as a "DEEP TERRACOTTA NEUTRAL." It's sort of right. It's in that color range for sure but it's a very dark red/brown. Not that the color is bad but the swatches on the website are extremely misleading. Then again, these colors appear different depending on the person. My lips are naturally pink..and the type of pink varies on the day it seems. So it came out very dark on me. I do like the color and i like how it dries to a stain finish with a slight smoothness feeling. It is highly pigmented so you literally need such a small amount. Sadly, the formula/packaging is AWFUL. They generally tend to leak or "vomit" out of the tube when you're trying to get some. Thus making a huge mess and wasting tons of product. This stuff is not cheap, either. I tried to use as much as i could to avoid wasting it but it made a mess of my teeth and I had to dab off half the product for it to stop. I feel like I wasted at least a month of gloss. How people manage to get the right amount generally is beyond me. The staying power is good. Lasted several hours but did make my lips dry and oddly cracked looking. Though my lips weren't dry to the point of cracking, they had the appearance of such, On that note, the color will sink into every single line on your lips. Personally, it's not something that bothers me too much but it's something for others to be aware of. Good thing is that it's not sticky at all. Didn't have to worry about getting a bunch of gloss in my hair. I really like the color and their color selection. But you MUST look at swatches on user blogs or else you might end up getting a color that you end up hating. If I get the hang of it, I'll repurchase. And you really have no other choice but to use a lip brush, it's your best bet in using this product.

Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes
turnthisaround 10/18/2011 9:53:00 PM
I expected more from this product. I see people raving about it on here all the time and wanted to try it out. I hate to pile mascara on my lashes so I only used one coat. i'm sure if I kept applying I'd see more of an effect but I feel that you shouldn't have to gunk a mascara on to see results. This brought out my lashes more than their new Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara, that's for sure. It defined my lashes and gave them mild volume and some length. My lashes felt light weight, flexible and it didn't smudge at all. It separated and defined my lower lashes okay as well. Tarte mascaras don't give my short, kinda thin lashes any trouble at all. But for all the hype and money, I expected to be wowed. and the packaging is pretty edgy but difficult to store in a makeup box. They could have given it the same design but sleeker. I would not buy this at full price again at all. If it were to ever go on a great sale, I would.

Lip Gloss -Yes To Carrots - Flirty Pink
turnthisaround 10/18/2011 9:42:00 PM
I bought this as a backup to put in my purse for when I had to have something on my lips. I have some balms by them that weren't too long lasting so I was doubtful of the staying power. to my surprise, it lasted a few hours. I'd say 4-5. And it kept my lips hydrated. It's a nice silky texture that's not sticky at all. It not being sticky doesn't help with it lasting but it won't transfer into your hair, which is great...especially for me since I'd only use it on the go. It doesn't have a huge color payoff, a subtle pink/purpleish color. It's hard to describe. I needed very little to coat my lips. I like the squeeze tube. It's easy to control how much product comes out and isn't messy in the least. It's nothing amazing that you'll rave about but it's fantastic for what it is. I of course would never suggest wearing this for a night out or any kind of special event. It's not made for that. If you're errand running or doing something simple for the day, this is perfect. I'd repurchase.

Mascara -Tarte - Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara
turnthisaround 10/14/2011 9:51:00 PM
This was a gift and my friend bought it on a pretty epic sale, which is why it's marked so low in price. Anyway, I expected this mascara to give much more than it did. It's a true black which gave good color to my lashes. no clumps, separated okay and it dried quickly on me. It did not add any length or volume. My lashes are short, thin-ish but naturally have a bit of a curl. So it was my lashes but darker. I do have watery eyes and this did not smudge at all. It stayed put all day. My lashes feel soft and are flexible. The tube is unique and a bit bulky..but that's not a huge deal to me. I didn't have to use much product, one dip covered both my eyes. This is way way WAY overpriced for such a basic mascara. I will continue to use because of it's healthy properties. I would only purchase this myself if it were to be on sale again. With that being said, don't buy at full price. It has great staying power and is great for your lashes but will not give you a fuller effect.

Polishes -China Glaze - CG In The City
turnthisaround 10/11/2011 5:43:00 PM
This polish is part of the Metro Collection. It's all glitter and sparkle. The liquid has a slight lavender color to it. I experimented and used it on it's own. It took me four coats to get it opaque. I did use thinner coats because thicker ones can peel off. Though it does not match the darker color in the bottle, it really is an amazing color on its own. Silver, white, purple, sparkle all in one. It sparkles in any light. It has so much depth of color, more so than any polish I've ever tried. It shimmers more than anything. The texture/look is more like a glitter christmas ball. Application was easy. No drag and it dried quickly. It was smooth and not runny. Obviously, you have to let it dry completely or else applying the next layer will drag off the glitter from the previous. Using a topcoat does not take away from the glitter at all, nor does it change the texture. It almost seems to blend in with the polish. Wear is okay. After three days I noticed a chip and I haven't even been doing too active. It's now four days and no further damage or general tip wear. I'd be weary of using it on its own again but it would be great as a layer of sparkle to any polish. I'd buy again. (picture shown is not my nails.)

Hair -Infusium 23 - All Products
turnthisaround 10/9/2011 1:09:00 AM
I'm using the moisture replenisher line and I love it. My hair is naturally dry, frizzy and weak. This really makes my hair smooth and moisturized. both the shampoo and conditioner are thick and creamy. The shampoo lathers very well and rinses clean. The conditioner doesn't drip at all and coats my hair perfectly. Most others i've tried are thin and runny and it was very difficult to coat my hair, thus resulting in dry patches. Easy to rinse out as well. My hair is literally filled with moisture. Not oily at all, perfectly balanced scalp. My hair is bouncy, shiny and clean. The scent is light and sort of fruity. Fantastic line and I love how they come in huge bottles. I will keep using this underrated brand.

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Line Exact
turnthisaround 10/9/2011 1:00:00 AM
I used this a few years ago and thought it was a great idea. At that time, I had a more shaky hand and always wanted liner in a marker form. Lo and behold, I saw this at walmart and bought it. I was soo excited to try it. It gave me a good line, was easy to control and honestly felt like using a sharpie. It wasn't the blackest black i've ever seen but it worked. Within a few weeks, it completely dried out. Not sure if the formula itself dried out or just the felt tip, or even both. I know for sure the tip was unusable. you get what you pay for. It's cheap and a drugstore brand. due to this experience, I have not tried another liner like this, from any brand. I could never recommend to anyone.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Space Cowboy (Stardust)
turnthisaround 10/7/2011 8:49:00 PM
This was part of a duo sample that I received with my order. It's a light golden, almost yellow with silver glitter. The glitter was not overwhelming and I had no glitter fallout. I also had little fallout with the color itself. It was fairly smooth to apply and applied evenly. It's not a dramatic color by any means. It's decently pigmented and didn't fade horribly. This would be a great highlight color and crease color. Even a wash over the lid for a quick look. For pale skin tones like myself, it doesn't show up very vivid. As for darker tones, this would do much better and be a bit more versatile. I would purchase as a highlight color, for sure.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Retrograde
turnthisaround 10/7/2011 8:42:00 PM
This was a free sample in my UD order. I'm glad I did not pay for it. The one good thing about this shadow is that it isn't a glitter bomb. And I had little fallout. With that being said, it was chalky, applied patchy and was sheer. I used UDPP too, which shows you just how bad this shadow is. Once I got it to mostly apply, it was a lightish purple. The color is flattering and would be fine for day wear. But I suspect the color is suppose to be much darker than what actually showed on me. I'm also very fair skinned so any darker color shows easily on my lids. It faded within in three hours. I mean, REALLY faded. As in, was half as "pigmented" as when first applied. It's a huge fail for Urban Decay. I could not recommend to anyone and would never purchase.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic Explosion
turnthisaround 10/6/2011 11:20:00 PM
A few years ago, my mother gave this to me since she didn't like it. I really did. At the time, it was the best mascara I've ever used. No clumping, fast drying, no smudging, flaking, etc. It would separate very well. Added some volume but no real length. The brush was easy to control and I was able to get all of my lashes. No real complaints but nothing really special about it either. I haven't purchased it since but think about it from time to time. It's a good basic mascara. good for anyone who wears little makeup.

Polishes -China Glaze - Black Diamond
turnthisaround 10/4/2011 5:53:00 PM
Hearing about this brand of polish, I was excited to use it. This polish can be tricky. It's hard to make thinner coats because the brush can be fussy and drag the polish instead. If this were to happen on the second coat, it easily scuffs the first layer. So you really have to put on a thicker coat for it to apply better. It can apply streaky. It does dry streaky. But a good top coat can hide this, though you can still feel the streaks. The consistency is a bit more runny than OPI. They're very similar in that respect. It dries moderately fast. You won't have to wait three hours to think about touching something. I needed two coats to match the color in the bottle. It's very very shiny, you literally see your reflection. It's multidimensional. In certain light, it can look like a taupe color, regular light it shows as a dark grey and in sun light you're able to see the tiny sparkles. Wear wise it's actually doing quite well. I'm very very active and use my hands constantly and no chips whatsoever. No tip wear, either. Three active days later and it still looks great. I'm quite pleased with this polish. Though it can apply better, it's just something to get use too. I'd repurchase.
