Lipstick -Lancome - Jezebel
thehepburn 3/13/2005 8:34:00 PM
Jezabel is a beautiful wine color that works great with my C4 complexion. I only wore this a few times because I am not a dark lipstick wearer at all but I got it as a GWP so I am happy with it. The reviewer below is wrong: it's from the Rouge Sensation line.

Lipstick -Lancome - Rouge Sensation in Nude 5 [DISCONTINUED]
thehepburn 3/13/2005 8:25:00 PM
The name is very deceptive since this isnt a beigey nude at all but a cocoa brown. With my C4 complexion, it perfectly fine, albeit a little boring if I want a brown lipstick. I usually put opague light pink gloss like Neutrogena Groove over it to give a more natural look. Got it as a GWP; I probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise but lancome usually does it very wearable colors in their GWP packages.

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - Lip Shimmer #9
thehepburn 3/10/2005 5:19:00 PM
$25.00 for .20 oz Is it worth it? My answer would be "no" although its a very good gloss. My favorite part is the very pointed brush tip. I have several brush wand lipglosses but none are tappered to such a fine point so that the gloss will go on with *such* precision. My main beef is with the color selection. There were probably 15 colors to choose from but I really only liked about 2 of them for my C4 complexion. Most of them were these metallic shades which is not at all my thing. #9 is a sheer cool shimmery pink; its much cooler than anything I would usually buy but they were out of #12 which is a peachier pink. On my dark pigmented lips, the gloss barely shows up as a pale shimmery pink but when glossed over a neutral lip liner, it gave me a 1960s Mod Look which I liked. For those who like their lipglosses unscented, these lip shimmers have not even the slightest scent. I did notice that I had some sprinkles left on my lips after the gloss was mostly gone, just like with most drugstore sparkly lipgloss. [sigh]

Crème -Stephane Marais - cream foundation [DISCONTINUED]
thehepburn 3/10/2005 4:11:00 PM
Amazing stuff. Very pigmented creams that goes on smooth and dewy. The coverage is medium to high, very buildable while still looking natural. If this is not the best cream foundation in the market, it's definitely in the Top Three. I use O3 which is a good match but not perfect (BB Natural #4, MAC C4, Shiseido I-4, GA Powder Foundation 5.5)

Lip Gloss -Clarins - Colour Gloss in Ruby
thehepburn 2/22/2005 6:46:00 PM
One of the worst high end glosses it has ever been my displeasure to try. I had to return it back to Barney's because it felt so dry on my lips out of the bottle that it was hard to spread it on. I was told by the SA that it was suppose to be more like a "liquid lipstick" but if it's packaged like a wand gloss, then I expect a gloss!

Lipstick -Clarins - Le Rouge (all shades)
thehepburn 2/22/2005 6:34:00 PM
Excellent creme lipsticks with excellent color selection. Goes on very smoothly with a good texture; however I can say that about a lot of other lipsticks and they dont have this (to me) gaudy packaging. I've been using Clarins on and off for years hoping that they can do the repackaging right. They are always fiddling with their packaging but it all remains ugly to my eyes. I much prefer Guerlain or Givenchy for high end lipsticks.

Lips -Face Stockholm - lipstick
thehepburn 2/22/2005 2:16:00 PM
Great colors. Although I dont care for the "no fragrance" smell, it doesnt bother me. These are good lipsticks with nothing remarkable about them to make them worth the price over, say, Revlon's SuperLustrous. I gave this a "2" instead of the average "3" rating because the shiny silver packaging easily gets mottled after a while.

Treatments -SkinMedica - Vitamin C Complex
thehepburn 2/22/2005 1:52:00 PM
I have rarely used a product that has made such an immediate difference to my face! My skin is clear but had been so dry and rough that the previous Vit C Serum I was using (Neostrata Vit C Radiance Capsules) wasnt even going on smoothly. Since I have been using the SkinMedica, my skin has been brighter, more even, and smoother. One of the best items I have ever found thru MUA! This is a stable Vitamin C Treatment but as the other reviews have said: if silicone doesn't agree with you, this product is not for you!
Approximately $72 for 1oz. Available at skincare.com and dermstore.com

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Creme D'Elegance Repairateur
thehepburn 2/22/2005 1:48:00 PM
It clearly states on the label that this is for *very* dry skin. I have normal-to-dry skin but can use this okay. It's a thick (but not La Mer thick!) yellow cream that does the basic job of moisturizing. Unless you rub it in real well, its feels a little greasy. I LOVE rich creams so I dont mind but I think most people won't like it.
This is one of the moisturizers I recommend for dry skin on the skincare boards because it's fragrance free but as someone who is used to Estee Lauder and Shiseido skincare, I would prefer a fragrance to mask the (to my nose) greasy lard smell. For that reason, I will not be re-buying this but this is one of the most moderate priced rich cream available in department stores. Available at your local Saks and Barney's NY as well as kiehls.com

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Lip Tint in Punch
thehepburn 2/20/2005 9:24:00 PM
First of all, let me say that I am not a fan of lipgloss in a tube: I am a wand girl all that way. The main reason is that most tube glosses like this one, hasnt enough pigment to diguise my very purplish pigmented lips. This tint gives a barely pink glow to my lips and goes on smoothly. Its not nearly as thick-feeling as the regular BB Lipgloss in the tube. It's also not nearly as shiny either! The mint scent is very faint and I might not have even noticed it if it wasnt for a slight methol sensation on my lips.
The sunscreen in it is 7.5% octinoxate and 3.5% octisalate which means NO UVA protection, just UVB protection.

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Color Gloss in Bare
thehepburn 2/10/2005 8:31:00 PM
This opaque gloss is the exact color of my lips! This is slightly different from the other wand BB glosses in that its less thick and easy to apply. Still has the same crappy hard stiff brush as the other BB glosses. This gloss is constantly sold out at the BB counter so I'm not the only one who loves this. C4 complexion.

Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Diamond Lip Treatment "Antique Bronze"
thehepburn 2/2/2005 2:16:00 PM
This is my favorite of the 3 SH Diamond Treatments that I have. On my pigmented lips, this looks like a beigy nude. This is one of the best nude lipgloss I've ever come across. What I *wish* NARS Chihuahua or Revlon Nude Lustre really looks like. I think this will be a makeup bag standard as it glides on so smoothly because of the blush applicator (so hard to find in a l/g under $10!). Price cant be beat either: $4.49 @ Duane Reade.
