Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Sensual Amber EDT
romarin 12/7/2009 6:35:00 PM
I bought this when I met the woman who created it! After our meeting (long story) I stopped into a Bath and Body Works store and tried it on. It is fabulous! Not cloying at all, like some ambers can be. It is a very original take on Amber/Oriental. The price is right too. I'm so proud of my friend and can't wait to see what she creates next!

Lipstick -MAC - Up The Amp
romarin 10/19/2009 9:20:00 PM
I've been wanting this for a long time, and since MAC is offering free shipping this week (and last), I ordered it. I am not dissapointed. Something about this color looks really good on me, even though I normally like a nude or pinky-brown mouth. I get compliments just about every time I wear it. For the record I have ash blonde hair, medium skin and am a well preserved 55 year old. It is exceptional with Spring Green luster gloss over it.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure -Silhouette
romarin 7/26/2009 3:33:00 PM
I was given a gift cert for Nordstroms and spent part of it on this. It was recommended by the MUA and it turned out to be a great color on me. I love the elegant case and the fact that there is no fragrance (a problem I have had in the past with Chanel lip products.) It is a perfect balance of plum and brown--more plummy pink than brown. Took it to the South of France with me and wore it most of the time.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam II

I saw this on the Mac MA and (as I'm always doing) I asked her what she was wearing. It was this--I bought it and Nymphette and they are the perfect combination. Already collecting compliments. See other reviews for description.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Nymphette lipglass

I'll join the crowd. This is beautiful. I can't find anything exactly like it by any other company. It's instantly flattering. I can't imagine any skin/hair combo it would not look good on.

Eye Shadow -Ulta - Knit
romarin 5/10/2009 10:41:00 AM
I have blue eyes. If you are aware of the color wheel, you know that orange is the complimentary color to blue. Knowing this, I purchased this shadow. It makes my eyes look much bluer. I wore it on the lid, and put a stormy blue gray in the crease, then a little warm, pale yellow under the brow. This is the best combination I've ever worn. These eye shadows are a great bargain. You can buy one, get one free, and they are only $7.00! The colors are beautiful, and this one may also be used as a blush.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam VI Special Edition

This does not look very exciting in the tube, but once on it is gorgeous! Makes teeth look whiter too. This is for everyday--daytime. I'd want something more intense for night.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color lipstick in Caramel Toffee
romarin 4/14/2009 7:34:00 PM
I have looked near and far for the perfect golden (but not frosted) light brownish, nude and this is it. Midway between pale and medium. (Otherwise I would not have paid $20 plus dollars for it.) I apply it with a heavy hand, after lining lips with MAC Spice. Then lightly blot. It is long lasting ()for a lipstick not marketed as long wear.) and is a beautiful texture, neutral non-obtrusive flavor. Will buy again.

Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Chi Ceramic Flat Iron by Farouk
romarin 8/25/2008 3:53:00 PM
I put off this purchase for a long time, having heard all the raves. I have had a cheaper (Conair) iron, and it was ok, but had the pliers type of handle. I also have been using a little skinny Conair, which is just fine for frizz along the hairline, or to keep in my purse for touch-ups. The big Conair finally broke--after over two years of several-times-a-week usage. I then tried a Rusk, and it kept catching hairs and didn't straighten all that well, so I returned it and ordered a 2 inch Chi from Folica. I've been wondering what's so great about Chi that would substantiate the money... Now I know it is many things that all add up. It is easy and comfortable to hold, has a long cord and you can control the heat. The plates come together just right and don't snag any hairs. The 2 inch size is perfect for me because I have thick, long, frizzy hair and it does cut down on the time, as well as enabling me to get it really straight. Of course, ALWAYS use a heat protector and don't use super hot.! So far this has worked very well. I have not gone out in humidity yet, or sweated at the gym. We'll see....

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Moisturizing Day Cream
romarin 8/18/2008 6:54:00 PM
The best thing about this moisturizer is the smell. It is uplifting and is so therapeutic just to breath it in! Other than that, it is a not-too-heavy moisturizer, ideal for putting under makeup. Unfortunately, no sunscreen. I would not, however, recommend it for oily skins. It does seem to have something in it that "brightens" my complexion. The pump bottle is nice too. Have bought twice.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation
romarin 8/5/2008 6:54:00 PM
This goes on with great ease and blends in flawlessly (if you have the right shade). I do not know whether I can say it is worth the price. There must be other foundations out there as good for less. The packaging is very minimalist and sexy--if a bottle of foundation can be sexy.... To sum up: pretty foolproof stuff, stands up for several hours under heat and humidity, but is it worth the price?

Fragrances -Coty - Stetson - American Original
romarin 5/2/2008 5:26:00 PM
I NEVER would have tried this had it not been for "Perfumes-the Guide." They gave it a good rating and laughed that it's marketed as a masculine scent. It is a somewhat spicy floral and dries down to a cardamom-ey vanilla. If it were sold in a chic bottle at Barney's it would be very popular. I may actually decant it into an empty SL bottle.

I keep coming back to this product. It looks like a high end gloss. It lasts and this color is the perfect nude-plus.

Treatments -John Frieda - Luminous Color Glaze
romarin 1/13/2008 12:13:00 PM
I read about this product in February Town and Country. They had it as one of the 25 best new beauty products and it sounded like something I needed. My hair is thick, dry and curly/frizzy and turning slowly from dark ash blond to gray (with some blond highlights). The clear version was unavailable so I got the brown shade and did exactly as instructed. The smell is NOT obnoxious. It is a little too strong, but it does indeed rinse out. It did not leave an oily residue. It left my hair very soft and silky. I set it on large rollers and then did a quick run through with the straight iron as usual, but it turned out much softer and shinier than ever before. The color didn't really do much but I was impressed enough by the shine and softness that I look forward to increased results.
