Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss- Cherries in the Glow [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

i managed to snatch 3 of these during the [current] CVS 75% off sale... and i never buy backups of anything! i had read that this could dupe MAC's LE l/g in "rich & ripe" which i own and love so when i saw it, i had to buy and try it. true enough, it has a certain striking resembalance -- the gloss color is very close on my lips (i tested it by applying one on the upper lip and the other on the bottom lip) except that this one is a little less opaque and doesn't have the glitter. love it!!

Mascara -Lancome - Definicils Mascara

i'm underwhelmed by this mascara, sadly. it does a good job defining and separating my lashes, but it's really no better than a drugstore mascara for the results i get.

Conditioner -Garnier - Fructis Sleek & Shine Instant Melting Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
ashmiaka 3/29/2010 12:52:00 AM

i usually love garnier products, but i absolutely hate this one. i got it for less than $2 @ ulta, and it's a waste of every single penny! it's definitely correctly labeled as "melting" because it literally dissolves / melts upon application to the hair... so much so that i have to use a lot of product to cover my hair barely / thinly with this... and that's saying something since i have very fine and not a lot of hair. the worst part is that not only does it NOT feel conditioning, it actually feels like it zaps my poor hair of any moisture it has, leaving my usually smooth and silky hair frizzy and dry!! avoid this product at all costs!

Treatments -Pantene - Pro-V Restoratives Time Renewal Replenishing Mask ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
ashmiaka 3/29/2010 12:41:00 AM

i bought this a few months ago on a whim after my hair was completely fried after i dyed it. this works great as a heavy conditioner and it makes my hair feel so silky soft after use (i use this 1-2x per week). it smells great, rinses out easily, and doesn't leave my hair greasy at all. it's by no means a miracle product, and the effects lasts only for a day, but i enjoy using it nonetheless. for the price (less than $5), i would purchase again.

Mascara -Rimmel - Extra Super Lash mascara
rated 3 of 5
ashmiaka 1/6/2010 3:16:00 PM

i managed to get a 2-pk for less than $5 at walmart, you just can't beat that price. i absolutely love the jet black color of this mascara. the wand is smaller, but easy to work with and the bristles catch every last one of my lashes. it doesn't volumize, but does add separate, define and add a little length. it also holds a curl! i do have to wipe the end of the wand with a tissue every time before i apply though since it drags out way too much product. unfortunately, i have found that it does smudge a bit under my eye by the end of the day. removal is easy (i use makeup remover wipes) and i haven't experienced any significant loss of lashes using this. would give it 3.5 lippies if i could.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 - Sensitive Skin
rated 5 of 5
ashmiaka 12/29/2009 11:31:00 PM

i managed to get this @ ulta on sale and with coupon, so i paid less than $9... which is a great deal imo. i love that this isn't greasy, doesn't ball up, doesn't burn my eyes, and doesn't leave behind white streaks or cast. it feels moisturizing on the face (i can get by with just using this) and a single pump covers my entire face. i couldn't ask for anything more from a drugstore sunscreen, and will definitely repurchase this over and over again!

Mascara -Boots - No.7 Lash 360
rated 4 of 5
ashmiaka 12/4/2009 10:27:00 AM

PROS: defines, separates, adds a bit of volume, holds a curl.
CONS: seems to dry out a little bit more quickly than other ds mascaras (but it's still lasting me until month 3).
OVERALL: i actually really like this mascara and use it nearly every day. i've also found that my lashes seem stronger and more full. would definitely repurchase this again and again.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
rated 5 of 5
ashmiaka 10/7/2009 3:22:00 PM

i never realized how much of a difference a good eyelash curler made until i tried shu's! while it is expensive, it's completely worth every penny. i get the nicest curl (actual curl, not spike) when i use this and the curl lasts all day (aided with some mascara base). the shape of the curler fits my asian eye perfectly and doesn't pinch at all. and i only have to hold it in place lightly for 3 seconds to get the curl i want. this could possibly be my HG eyelash curler!

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Therapy massage bar
rated 1 of 5
ashmiaka 10/5/2009 10:54:00 PM

i absolutely hated this as a massage bar -- i found it difficult to use (it was either very messy or very hard to "melt" to run smoothly over my body) and greasy to boot. not to mention it didn't sink into my skin at all. but because of all the great reviews and the high price, i refused to throw it out. after trying it multiple times, i finally got fed up and cut this into little pieces to throw into my bath to use it up. it didn't suck as a bath treatment, but i can safely say that i'd opt for moisturizer post bath than using this as a bath melt. plus, it left a greasy stain around the bathtub, not to mention it was slip n' slide until i cleaned it up. not a fan.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Rock Star
rated 2 of 5
ashmiaka 10/5/2009 12:58:00 AM

this smells very strongly of plastic + cheap bubblegum, emphasis on the plastic. it lathers pretty well and leaves me feeling clean, but not moisturized. i don't detect any lingering scent post shower, which might be a good thing since i don't want to walk around smelling like plastic. i was lucky enough to get this in a swap, but probably wouldn't purchase this on my own.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Vanilla in the Mist
rated 2 of 5
ashmiaka 10/3/2009 5:34:00 PM

this smells nothing like vanilla (artificial or real, in the shower or out)... the predominant scent is clay (or play-doh) with a slight bitter coffee-twist after scent. the bar itself is an ugly mustard color with vanilla pods and ground coffee dispersed through it. the pods are annoying and tend to fall out in the shower, the coffee grounds might provide the tinest bit of exfoliation but i'm not entirely convinced of that. even though the soap looks like it would leave a yellow stain behind, it doesn't. it feels creamy, does lather a bit and i do feel clean and slightly moisturized afterwards. the scent lingers very lightly after, but doesn't stick around for long. i can see this melting very fast and easily if used under running water, so i would definitely recommend stepping out of the water stream when lathering up. overall, i'm not terribly impressed and wouldn't shell out the $$$ for this.

Masks -LUSH - Catastrophe Cosmetic
rated 2 of 5
ashmiaka 9/30/2009 12:28:00 PM

this mask smells very strongly of chamomile, with maybe a hint of blueberries... and lingers long after i wash the mask off. it's not a bad scent, but still a bit too heavy for my usual preference. there are bits of blueberry in the mask, which is also what turns the mask itself a pretty shade of blue-purple. it's a little messy to apply because the consistency, which is a little thick, causes the product to migrate to the top of my fingers as i try to spread it on my face before it falls off. another annoying part is that when it dries, the mask becomes flakey and little bits have a tendency to "dust" off. i love the initial application of the mask though... so cooling (from having been stored in the fridge). the mask itself is ok -- didn't perform any miracles. i did find that it seemed to temporarily brighten my skin a bit and reduce some of the redness, but was disappointed that my face didn't feel particularly soft like other reviews mentioned. i love that this is "fresh" and i find it to be decently priced... and since i have a smaller face, i do get more bang for my buck. i also actually like that this has an expiration date since it forces me to use this more regularly. however, given the messy application, i might have to pass on this one in the future.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Honey I Washed the Kids soap
rated 4 of 5
ashmiaka 9/12/2009 5:55:00 PM

the very best thing about this soap is the smell! while i can't detect any distinguishable honey scent, it smells absolutely heavenly -- very sweet and comforting with a slight perfume twist, but not overpowering. aside from the scent, this is probably like any other bar soap out there. it cleans well, but doesn't lather or moistuize much (but at least it doesn't strip my skin of moisture). the scent does linger lightly after which is nice. expensive for bar soap, but i'll probably buy this again because the scent is absolutely addicting!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
rated 2 of 5
ashmiaka 9/10/2009 8:55:00 PM

PROs: color -- LOVE the jet black color; adds length, does make my lashes look slightly doll-like.

CONs: clumps; gets onto my eyelids rather easily; feels a little heavy; gives slight spider-leg lashes, does smudge (esp in warmer weather) and flake a little.

OVERALL: there are much better mascaras out there. don't regret trying it, but won't be buying it again.

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in Eversun
rated 4 of 5
ashmiaka 7/15/2009 2:20:00 PM

i'm about NC 20-25 and on me, eversun comes off as a bronzed coral color... which is perfect for the summer. it's highly pigmented so i use a stippling brush to put it on. if i overdo it, i can easily look burnt... so lightly is the key to applying for me. while i do enjoy using this blush, i'm not sure that i would repurchase. in part because it'll take me forever and a day to finish the one i have, and because i generally prefer a peachy glow over a deeper bronzed look. still a great addition to my ever growing blush collection though.
