Lip Treatments -La Roche Posay - Anthelios 50+ XL Stick for lips
rated 2 of 5
Safin 8/3/2011 6:48:00 AM

I have exactly the same experience with this LRP lipbalm as the girl below. It tastes toxic and left my lips with a chalky (whitish) tinge. I loved the ROC Minesol one for years, but last year that gave me exzema in the corners of my mouth. This one doesn't, but performs very badly. And again the taste is horrible!

Lip Treatments -RoC - Minesol SPF 20 High Protection Lipbalm
rated 3 of 5
Safin 8/3/2011 6:42:00 AM

For years and years this was my HG lipbalm with SPF. It has the perfect smoothness and is frangrance free. I bought it again last summer and suddenly it gave me exzema in the corners of my mouth. I don't know why this happend, maybe they changed the formula. I moved over to Anthelios XL50+, but this is not as moisturizing as the Roc one and the taste is horrible.

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Aloe Calming Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Safin 7/6/2011 3:45:00 PM

Original review 2009: This is the best and mildest cleanser I have found till now. Every town in Holland has a Body Shop, so the products are easy to purchase and they are not very expensive. I love that the Body Shop has made a sensitive free of parfume line (the Aloe Vera line) and this cleanser is the best. The only con is that it doesn't clean away mineral sunscreen, but when you clean twice, than it is good enough. Store the bottle upside down, than the product comes out easily. Edit 5-2011: I still love this cleanser and haven't found anything better. Nowadays I use this with the Muslin Cloths from The Body Shop and it works like a charm. My skin is much smoother now I clean this way. After trying a lot of cleansers I discovered that non-foaming cleansers work the best for my skin type (sensitive, oily, acne prone). Foaming cleansers irritate my skin which causes cystic acne. I more and more discover that my type of acne is caused by sensitivity, irritation and bad ingredients.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Elvive Damage Care Conditioning Replenishing Spray
rated 3 of 5
Safin 7/4/2011 4:27:00 PM

I have used the Elvive nutri-gloss light spray last year and wanted to try a spray from another Elvive line this time. Because my hair is very dry and frizzy at the ends, I decided to buy this one. I like to use leave-in conditioners instead of rinse-out because they moisturize my hair in a better way. This is a very good detangler and makes my hair smooth and frizz free (just what I wanted). But my hair is fine and becomes oily and limp faster than normally when using this spray. And of course (like al the L'Oreal products) the ingredient list is awful...

Treatments -L'Oreal - Elvive Nutri-Gloss Light Detangling Spray leave-in conditioner
rated 2 of 5
Safin 5/5/2011 3:01:00 PM

I have fine long hair with dry ends but oily roots. I hoped that this very light conditioner would be perfect for my hair type and it was for a while. I have used this spray last year when my hair was in a very good condition and I liked the lightness and volume that it gave me. But now my hair is much dryer and the results of this conditioner are very bad. Yes, still a lot of volume but in a very bad way, it feels like if I have put hairspray with a lot of alcohol in my hair. The only good thing is that it is a good detangler. Another bad point is the ingredientlist. As by all L'Oreal products the ingredientlist looks very chemical (the score is a 7 on the cosmeticsdatabase): Water, propylene glycol, lactic acid, hydroxyethyl oleyl dimonium chloride, hydrolyzed conchiolin protein, phenoxyethanol, peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil, peg-40, trideceth-12, polyqarternium-4, polyqarternium-11, limonene, linalool, amodimethicone, alpha-isomethyl ionone, methylparaben, butylphenyl methylpropional, citronellol, cetrimonium chloride, citrus limonium/lemon fruit extract, hexyl cinnamal, parfum/fragrance

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant
rated 4 of 5
Safin 5/3/2011 4:55:00 PM

I used the Naturtint in colour 6G, golden dark blond. Till now Casting Creme Gloss is the best amonium free hair colour I have used, so I compare this Naturtint to the Casting. I am surprised about the results of this product, because amonium free colour is mostly not strong enough to cover grey hairs completely, but this does a very good job. Actually it performs as a normal hair colour (with amonium). After a few weeks the colour hasn't fade yet. Now a month later I repurchased to dye my grey roots, and again the results are perfect. I don't know if I will buy the 6G again the next time, because it is a little bit too gold (caramel) for my liking. I think I will try the 6N or 5N the next time. Compared to the Casting: -Colours of the Casting are always darker than on the package, not with the Naturtint -Casting is 'bleeding' with the first washes, the Naturtint isn't -The Casting is a bit milder -The Naturtint covers grey hairs better The Casting is more expensive -Both easy to use -The Casting makes my hair always very static after dying for the first weeks, the Naturtint doesn't -Both have very chemical (dangerous?) ingredients (PPD)

Shampoo -Sebamed - Everyday Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
Safin 5/3/2011 3:33:00 PM

Why is everybody looking for a sulfate free shampoo, while the alternatives are soo drying. This is no exception. This Shampoo gives enough foam and the bubbles feel soft when working in the hair, but at the end my hair feels dry and my scalp irritated, I even got some eczema (SD) on my scalp and hairline. I do not react very well on Decyl Glucoside after all. And why oh why do they add fragrance in products for sensitive skin?

Misc Beauty Tools -The Body Shop - Muslin Cleansing Cloths
rated 5 of 5
Safin 5/3/2011 2:56:00 PM

The Body Shop Muslin Cloths are the first cleansing cloths I have tried, so I cannot compare. But for now they work like a charm. I use them together with the Aloe Vera Gentle Cleanser, a perfect combination. At first I was scared to use exfoliating cleansing cloths, but they are so gentle and remove the dead skin and the hard sebum of my pores.

Hair -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Cucumbers Leave-in Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
Safin 5/3/2011 2:13:00 PM

For me the best leave-in conditioner is from John Masters, I wanted to try this leave-in simply because it is half the price and it is also a cream. The spray leave-in conditioners often have alcohol in them, what is very drying. What I like about the Yes to leave-in is that it detangles and makes your hair heavy in a good way. Because I have very fine fly away hair, I need a bit heaviness. What I don't like is that it doesn't give much shine and moisture.

Conditioner -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Cucumbers Daily Makeover Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
Safin 3/15/2011 2:54:00 PM

I use the combo of shampoo and conditioner of the Cucumber line. I have to say, my hair is in a very bad condition, because of a harmful dying process and these products could not cure my over processed hair. This conditioner made my hair feel light and didn't irritate my scalp, but it didn't moisturize at all. One of my colleagues said why is your hair look so fluffy, that said enough. The detangling capacities are not spectacular, but okay. Another con is that it has chemical fragrance in it which is bad for the body and my nose didn't like it either. I have used the Carrots version before (about a year ago) and in my opinion that did a better job, but it was in the time that it had silicones in it, so maybe that was the reason. Maybe I will try the leave-in conditioner that is maybe more suitable for my hair condition at the moment.

Shampoo -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Cucumbers - Color Care Daily Makeover Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
Safin 3/15/2011 2:17:00 PM

I use the combo of shampoo and conditioner of the Cucumber line. I have to say, my hair is in a very bad condition, because of a harmful dying process and these products could not cure my over processed hair. This shampoo made my hair feel light and didn't irritate my sensitive scalp. I give it a 4 because it didn't moisturize my color treated hair and it has chemical fragrance in it which is bad for the body and my nose didn't like it either. Edit 5-2011: I lower my rating to 3, because this shampoo is too drying. All together the Yes to Cucumbers line is disappointing, very average and not that 'Organic' and safe all together.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Dermolin - Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
Safin 3/10/2011 3:20:00 PM

I write this review for the Dutch and Belgium members, because Dermolin is not sold in other countries. There are only a few fragrance free conditioners on the market, I haven't found any that is good enough, this Dermolin conditioner is no exception. I have fine long hair, that is dry, with a scalp that becomes oily in a day. I have used this conditioner for about a month from my ears to the ends, it didn't irritate my sensitive scalp or back in any way, but it was not detangling at all, which is really a problem for long fine hair. After my hair was dry it didn't look bad, but I def. need a conditioner that does a better detangling job. A pro is that it has no silicones. Ingredients from packaging: Aqua; Betaine; Caprylylglycol; Ceteareth-20; Cetearylalcohol; Dicaprylyl Carbonate; Dipalmitoylethyl hydroxyethylmonium methosulfate; Lactic acid

Cleansers -Avene - Gentle Cleanser for Intolerant Skin (no rinse)
rated 2 of 5
Safin 3/10/2011 3:08:00 PM

I have used this cleanser a few years ago for about a year and wanted to see if I would like it again, so I tried a sample of it. At first sight this cleanser looks like a mild cleanser, because it is non-foaming and your face does not feel dry after using. If you look at the ingredientlist it is not a gentle cleanser after all, especially because of the SLS. In the year that I used this cleanser I had slightly burning skin (acne rosacea) almost every day, by using it again the uncomfortable feeling returned, so I know now that it was this cleanser, so will def. not buy again.

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Clear Normalizing Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
Safin 2/15/2011 2:18:00 PM

I only used 3 samples of this cleanser, so not a full review, but I will update when buying the full size bottle, that I maybe will do. This cleanser surprised me a lot, because it is gentle. I have oily sensitive skin and need a cleanser that is gentle, water soluble and is removing (eye) make-up, this is seams all of that. The big problem with this cleanser is that there is Triclosan in it, which may cause cancer. Edit 11-2011: This turned out to be much too drying for my sensitive skin, I could have known because there is SLS in it.

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - One Step Face Cleanser-Normal to Dry Skin
rated 1 of 5
Safin 2/15/2011 1:50:00 PM

I have used 3 samples of this cleanser, so I cannot judge this by it's performance for a longer period, but what I can say is that it is very very drying. I have oily sensitive skin and this cleanser made my seb. derm much worse in only a few days. Normally I like the Paula's Choice cleansers, but this is absolutely not suitable for normal to dry skin as she claims. I also tried the Clear cleanser, which was much more gentle! I think the problem is the SLES very high on the ingredient list and the Cocomidapropyl Betaine which is a mild cleansing agent, but is an irritant for some people.
