Ugh! I'm so disappointed with this product. I was really excited to try it, because I liked that it contains acne medication to cut down on pimples, but the coverage is horrible. I'm going back to my old foundation.

Shampoo -Redken - Smooth Down
rated 5 of 5

I really love this. I use it with the matching conditioner, and my hair is much smoother and easier to deal with. Before, my hair was poofy (I am growing it out, and it tends to have too much volume at this length), but now it is sleek and pretty again. This is my new HG.

Wow! I love this stuff! This is one of the only products that I have ever used that actually does what it says. I am growing my hair out, but it is really thick, and it kind of poofs out, so I always had to wear it half up. Since I've been using this, however, my hair has been smooth and easy to deal with. I can actually wear it down again! This is definitely my new HG. Edit: Ugh! I still really like the results that this conditioner delivers, but it seems to break me out. I still keep some on hand, but I've moved on to others that don't break me out.

Polishes -New York Color - In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish
rated 4 of 5
PurpleElephants 10/11/2009 2:22:00 AM

These polishes are pretty nice. The theme and names are really cute, and I like the selection of colors. Sometimes I'm in a hurry when I paint my nails, so it's great to have something that dries so quickly. I think that they are a bit too sheer though, and they seem to chip more easily (at least on me) than the fast-drying Maybelline polishes.

Wow, I really like this conditioner (along with the matching shampoo)! My hair is fairly dry and damaged, but only a small amount of this made it soft, smooth, and beautiful. I'm very impressed, and will definitely continue to repurchase!

I really like this shampoo (along with the matching conditioner). I love that it's sulfate free, but that it stlll creates a lather. It also made my hair feel really soft, and it is much smoother than it was before. I'm really impressed, and I will definitely continue to repurchase!

Hair Color -Revlon - Frost & Glow Highlighting Kit
rated 5 of 5
PurpleElephants 1/6/2009 3:58:00 AM

Wow! I'm really impressed with this product. I've colored my hair many, many times, but I've never attempted my own highlights before. I definitely went in with no experience, and I was afraid that it would come out really bad, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. My hair was already dry and damaged, and it was color-treated a medium/dark brown. I chose 'honey', and I also picked up a toner, because I always end up with brassy results, no matter what blonding product I use. The cap was pretty annoying - my mom actually pulled my hair through all the holes, She definitely helped me out a lot (I know it would be much harder to have done it alone), but it took almost two hours. It was also painful to have my hair pulled through with that litle plastic hook. I was so scared after we were done pulling my hair through, because it seemed like I had so much left that wasn't pulled through. As soon as I applied the mixture, it started turning blonde right away (obviously, it had no problem lifting the dye on my hair)) - I was actually scared that the difference between the highlights and my brown hair would be way too much. I was so happy when I got out of the shower and started drying my hair, and realized that it all blends perfectly. My hair definitely looks a lot lighter, and I would say that the results are almost as good as what I have gotten at the salon in the past. d it's not even brassy, so I don't even have to use the toner - that was a big shock for me. This kit wasn't even $7 at my local Wal-Mart, and the results are amazing. My hair is a little bit drier and it is breaking a bit, but that's not a shock to me. Honestly, with what it's been through, I'm surprised that I have any hair left! I will definitey continue to use this!

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Color Gems
rated 5 of 5
PurpleElephants 12/8/2008 11:41:00 PM

I really love Color Gems. I've tried Clairol's Natural Instincts and Wella's Color Charms demi-permanents, but this is my favorite. The colors seem to always come out very rich. They definitely do run dark though - I used 'medium natural blonde' the other day, and it came out a very dark blonde. I know that it will fade a bit as I wash it, so it will eventually be a bit more blonde, which is what I'm going for.

Hair Color -Wella - Color Charm Demi-Permanent Hair Color
rated 2 of 5
PurpleElephants 12/8/2008 11:36:00 PM

I used this in light natural blonde. I had previously dyed my hair dark, and I wanted it blonde again, so I bleached it and then applied this. I'm not too impressed. I left it on for 20 minutes and it toned down the bleach look, but it still had way too many red/brassy tones, and it just didn't seem to take as well as I had hoped. I heard that these colors run dark, but that wasn't true for me. I had to try another color, since it still looked bad. I ended up using L'oreal Color Gems, and that color processed beautifully in only 10 minutes. The result was much richer, too. I might try this again one day if my local Sally's was out of Color Gems, but I doubt it.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Jheri Redding Colorfix
rated 1 of 5
PurpleElephants 12/4/2008 10:50:00 PM

Words cannot describe how mad I am. I absolutely loathe this product. I previously had blonde hair, but I decided to do it brown. I had that for a couple of weeks and then decided I was sick of it, so I tried to switch back to blonde. I applied the Colorfix three times, and after each time, I rinsed for about half an hour and used clarifying shampoo five times. Overall, I spent about two hours in the shower scrubbing my hair. It lifted back to blonde, and I decided to put a light blonde demipermanent on it. In under a minute, my hair was dark brown again. I literally sat on my bathroom floor and cried for about 10 minutes. I spent hours working on this, and now my hair is back to where it started. My scalp hurts, and my bathroom smells like rotten eggs. Seriously, my dad came home and thought the dog had an accident in the house. Now I have to drive 45 minutes to the nearest 24-hr Wal-Mart so that I can buy bleach, because I want to have this fixed by the morning.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Volume Boost Liquid Lipcolour
rated 3 of 5
PurpleElephants 12/3/2008 1:01:00 PM

I'm disappointed. This used to be my favorite drugstore lipgloss, but then they reformulated it. It's still a fairly good product, but I like the old formula much better, and I thought the colors were more attractive. I probably won't repurchse, since there are better options out there.

Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Permanent Creme Hair Color
rated 4 of 5
PurpleElephants 12/3/2008 12:58:00 PM

This stuff is pretty good. I've used lots of different hair color products, and although I like some others better, this is probably the best drugstore option for permanent color (Ion from Sally's is actually my favorite). I used this in medium brown and the results turned out well. I would buy it again if I had an emergency and couldn't get to Sally's for some reason.

Hair -Sacha Cosmetics - Sally - Hair One Hair Cleanser and Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
PurpleElephants 12/3/2008 12:54:00 PM

I agree with the reviewer before me: this product is just average. I had high hopes for it, because I had heard some really good things, but I was a bit disappointed. I purchased the olive oil version of Hair One, because my hair is dry and damaged from previous bleach jobs. It did a fairly good job at moisturizing, but it isn't the miracle product that a lot of people made it out to be. Honestly, I like my L'Oreal Hydragloss better (the one for very dry/damaged hair), so I'll be going back to that.
