This is an excellent body oil for not so dry skins. If your is is almost borderline eczemic, donīt use it. As a hair oil, it was fine as well, but my hair is also too dry. Believe or not, this didnīt moisturize my hair at all.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - retractable kabuki

My first ecotools purchase and possibly my last. The brush fell apart in three uses. Not only that but I found the bristles didnīt pick up much color at all, at least not from my MAC and NYX blushes. Just very light. As a powder brush this works quite well. It dispenses the right amount without giving you cake face. The problem is, I donīt use powder, so for my use, as a blush brish, this doesnīt work as effectively as Iīd want it to.

Eye Primer -NYX - HD High Definition Eyeshadow Base

I hate to give this product such a bad review but with all due honesty, this trully sucks. At first, it worked great, at least with very liht eyeshadows such as champagne and white. When it came to more dramatic colors, this sucked. Badly. It actually made the colors much paler and fade much quicker than wearing the shadows by themselves. I do not recommend this at all.

Greasy mess that smells like orange creamsicle. Just bad. It made me breakout and it has been weeks since my breakout has cleared. It is just too oily. It makes a great hand cream however. Otherwise, did nothing for me and do not recommend it.

Liquid -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Smooth Absolute

I have never worn nor purchased foundation before this. Tried it out at an Ulta counter and loved the feel of it. My skin has been going rogue on me thanks to stress and in an attempt to mask the sunspots, decided to buy it. This is a beautiful product and quite possibly the best foundation type product I've come across. It feels exactly like those BB creams out there, only with of course, much better color selection. It goes on smoothly and covers everything in sight, while also softly moisturizing. It never gets greasy or "oily" as some do get on my skin. It also feels very cooling and gel like. The result is that natural, dewy, fresh and glowing look. Very natural looking if you apply this with a stippling brush and if you find it too heavy, mix it with a serum or a light liquid. I mix it with either aloe gel when it feels too heavy or want a medium coverage, which is a lot of the time. I only wish this had darker skin shades, not for me, but for other women of color. I am a MAC NC42 and their darkest shade, Sun Beige, matches perfectly. I've mixed it with some powder though for my mother, whose an NC55. This is my first foundation and I highly recommend it.

Polishes -China Glaze - Ruby Pumps
rated 5 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/7/2011 10:48:00 PM

This is my signature nail polish. It so flirty, elegant, sexy and so very glittery. The best part is that the color looks so good on me, which is often a make or break on my nail polish purchases. It makes my hands glow. People compliment me on it all the time and I never, ever get bored of it. The only nail polish I wear in constant rotation and could not be without. It doesn't chip easily either. On my manicures it lasts two weeks easily. I don't care if all my NP's burned tomorrow, I would be upset if I lost this though. My only gripe is that I wish China Glaze had a thicker, more precise brush, like the ones in OPI's Sephora line. I don't have the best precision in the world. I think a thicker brush would deliver more color in less time and a cleaner look for those of us who don't have time to be very precise. Otherwise, adore it!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Biotin (All brands)
rated 5 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/7/2011 10:25:00 PM

This vitamin is incredible!!! I don't know why it doesn't work on some people, but on me this works within days. Granted I don't buy the generic brands at pharmacies and buy them online instead, where you have larger concentrations, the cost is cheaper, and the pills are smaller. My favorites are the Biotin (5,000mcg) from Vitacost. Wonderful stuff. Anyway, I have relaxed hair. For those who don't know, this is hair that is chemically straightened. Not temporarily, but completely and permanently removing the curl. Now, I don't have a problem growing my hair but I've been wanting to grow out the relaxer. Since I don't have time, money, or patience to sit down and get braids regularly or do protective style, growing it out "naturally" has become a problem. Ever since I started taking this I've been able to cut my relaxed hair gradually since the curly parts are growing faster and longer. Since taking this, my hair has grown 4 inches in 3 months. And the curls are SOFTER. I'm not making that up, I have mostly thick 4a hair that shrinks and tangles too easily, and since taking them my hair growth is softer are more defined. My nails, which are naturally very fine, have grown stronger and clearer. My eyelashes have grown quite a bit too, and they are darker (less mascara baby!). On the downside, this has made the hair in other places grow much faster. The hair on my legs grows thicker and faster, the hair on my arms (which is also very fine) is growing longer. The hair on my brows grows a bit faster as well and longer. I was freaking out a bit about this because I swore they were thinning out thanks to constant waxing at my brow lady. The hair on my lips grows just a bit quicker. But that is nothing consistent maintenance can't fix. I use an epilator for my legs and that inhibits my growth for about 3 weeks to a month. I use Gigi Hair Removal Lotion on my arms and Surgi facial cream for my lip area. It's tougher to maintain my eyebrows but I don't mind. I recommend taking this with food once a day, don't try doing so twice if it's 5,000mcg or more. You'll be asking for a breakout. I also suggest you get a hair vitamin on the side. I use Maxi Hair as a multi-vitamin and it works great. Most of all, if it doesn't work as fast as it did for me, don't give up, try drinking more water. This is the biggest reason why Biotin doesn't work on many people. You need lots and lots of water to help Biotin dissolve. My mom tried this and at first it didn't, because she didn't like drinking water too often, and after she started to, wow. I recommended it to another young friend of my brother's that's in high school and trying to go natural. She finally did the big chop after 6 months of taking it and her hair is so cute. Her hair is past her eyes. Don't be stubborn and give it a try, and also try to keep an effort in maintaining your self healthy. Like all other things, it needs a little help on your side to work. Good luck people, and if you have any questions, feel free to message me anytime, I'll gladly respond.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Avanti- Silicon Mix

Like most people here, I've found this by way of Dominican hairstylists or their beauty supplies. I have transitioning 3c/4a/relaxed hair and I don't like this. At all. It gives me no "slip", doesn't really moisturize my hair, and it leaves it feeling rough and plasticky. Even when my hair was completely relaxed I didn't like it. I like my hair to feel soft and moisturized, and this left it far from that. This is wonderful stuff for people with curly hair though, curly as in loose, springy, and tangles easily. A cousin of mine, a gorgeous Greek girl, has corkscrew curls that tangle like nothing else. I was doing her hair one day and this left her hair gorgeous, shiny and bouncy. Her curls were well defined and in some parts wavy. She loved this and forced me to give her the tub my mom got for me. I gladly gave it away.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Surgi Cream Hair Removal Cream
rated 5 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/7/2011 9:41:00 PM

This is officially my favorite hair removal. I don't know about all the other reviewers, but this removed 90% of my "beard" in exactly 5 minutes and did not irritate me in any way whatsoever. I think the key to getting this product to work is not to follow the instructions on the application. Just take the tube to your lip area and smooth it on, straight from the tube. That way you get a thicker application. Just make sure it is not too thick, because then if you have to take it off in 3 minutes or less. I've applied this with the scraper as the instruction says and while it works, it doesn't do an exceptional job that way...Then use the scraper included and instead of one swoop per side, make two small scoops to get the most precise hair removal. Apply the soother right after. I like the Burt's Bees ointment instead. This product keeps my lip area clean for an entire month. The tube itself lasts me half a year and it only costs $5.00 at Sally's. Sometimes less if you have the card and they often have coupons for this line. I used the normal strength by the way, since the extra gentle is practically worthless unless your hair is very fine. I could stay with waxing, but no matter what salon I go to or the brand they use, I always get bubbles and a bad rash that lasts for days. Highly recommend it.

Blush -MAC - Sweet as Cocoa
rated 3 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/7/2011 12:45:00 AM

This takes the honor of being the first MAC blush that does not look good on me. On me, it looks exactly like powdered chocolate, the subtle ashy color included. It makes me look dirty and muddy. Unnatural. I tried to apply this lightly and it didn't look good either. On the positive note, this looks great on darker skin colors, it compliments it beautifully. I gave to a friend of mine who's an NW50 and it looks gorgeous on her. I'd say anyone w/ NC50+ can rock this as an everyday blush easily.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
rated 2 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/6/2011 11:05:00 PM

Let me get it out that I'm one of those people who's skin coloring can be really hard to match. I don't have a definite skin tone in my opinion. In fact, if it were up to MAC, I'd be an NC 42 in Fall and Winter, an NC43 in Spring, and an NC45 in Summer(my natural tan- I go to the Caribbean every Summer). They are right of course, but I can't afford to have 3 different foundations that I'd barely use. Second, this foundation breaks me out. Badly. I have nice skin (thanks Mami/Papi!), and this brought milia, pimples, rashes. It is also oily and feels like a mask on. In short, it doesn't do my skin any good. On the positive note, like I said earlier, the skin matching on this is first class. Just be aware that depending on your activities or maybe even geographical movement, your skin tone can change. As it happens to me. If your skin reacts badly to oils or breaks out easily, skip this. If your skin is dry and doesn't react to oils, then give this a try. A note to everyone, if you don't use foundation every day, just on special occasions like I do, skip this. In less than 4 months, this starts to disintegrate. And finally, don't let the reviews on this product discourage you from trying other MAC stuff. Every family has its black sheep so they say. I guess this is MAC's.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Toasted Almond
rated 5 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/3/2011 7:28:00 AM

I have big, two-tone lips: My bottom lip is a bright, rosy pink while my top lip is a mauve-pink, that can sometimes turn pink brown if I don't wear a lip balm with SPF. Now, because of this, I sometimes have a hard time finding a natural shade lipstick that looks good on me. Makeup rules, from what I've learned from many here and blogs, beauty books, and MA's tell me to go and get a lipstick in the same color as my top lip. Brown lipstick looks bad on me. My skin tone is a dark bronze and naturally, one would think brown would look good on me but it doesn't. It makes me look old. It makes my skin look dull and washed out. I have very noticeable pink (salmon) and peach undertones that pretty much rules out that option. Until this arrived. This is the best nude/natural lipstick I've ever encountered. It is a gorgeous, brownish salmon peach color that would look amazing on anyone. This harmonizes both colors of my lips, makes my skin glow, and brings out my coloring and undertones most beautifully. It makes my eyes look bright and warm. It also makes a great and beautiful cream blush. I can wear this in almost any makeup look and I can finally wear green eyeshadow with confidence. It makes me look "naturally sexy" and many people compliment me when I wear this. Guys love it, many consistently telling me I have beautiful lips or great colored lips. It doesn't dry my lips, rather, it moisturizes them and leaves them soft. And it gives you solid vibrant color in two swipes. The negative things about this is that the formula doesn't last long on lips, often it just lasts two hours. I don't mind that one bit as it works as a lip balm replacement. The other that, I'm almost positively sure, that L'oreal does animal testing. Other than that this is brilliant stuff and I can't wait to try the other colors. The most unbelievable part of this is the pricing. I can get this for $6.50 at Ulta, and that's not counting w/L'oreal coupons and sales. In my opinion, this is another formula that makes HE lipsticks look bad. The other is Revlon. I've tried them all and while they make great colors, this is the only formula that loves my lips. Enjoy.

Treatments -Redken - All Soft HEAVY CREAM
rated 5 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/3/2011 6:56:00 AM

I must be an exception, but having transitioning 4a/relaxed hair, this stuff is incredible. I have very brittle and dry hair due to consistent relaxer for over 10 yrs. My hair is healthy don't get me wrong, but thanks to the fact that I have a lot and it is so thick, it can feel rough and scratchy. Sometimes no matter how much oil I use, my hair absorbs it all and only gets a soft sheen. I'm also in college and work full time, while also being a fitness nut, and an avid member of many activities, I run out of time quick. Often all I have time for is a wash and go, which is almost impossible to do with my hair. This is the first time I am able to say I could. This is a very moisturizing and buttery treatment. It is aimed towards people with dry and damaged hair. Thanks to many reviews here and elsewhere, I was hesitant to try this. You know that saying about following your gut? Every time I passed a beauty supply, it always told me to get this. After 5 years of hesitating, I got it and it is the best purchase I've made this year. I used it after Nexxus Emergencee and my hair is beautiful. I mean hair model soft, shiny, voluminous (don't need anymore but still), bouncy, and moistened. Really, soft and shiny. My mom came by to visit and she couldn't stop touching my hair. I can't stop touching my hair. The last time my hair felt like this was before my first relaxer in 2001. The way to make this work well for you I think is to use a clarifying shampoo and then use a protein treatment. After the protein treatment put this on and leave it on for a few minutes, or hours. I left this for a full day on my hair and just let it air dry and my hair is stunning. I don't use flat irons or blow dry my hair by the way. I've been transitioning for 3 months, which might not be a lot, but it is a hassle since my hair has grown a whooping 4 inches thanks to my hair vitamins in that time. Its very difficult to get a comb through my hair and I broke a big, wide tooth comb trying to do so 6 weeks ago. With this, my new comb glides through. And I see no breakage. I love everything about it from the soft, delicate and feminine smell. I highly recommend it. Wonderful stuff.

Lip Treatments -Nuance by Salma Hayek - Hydrating Balm Rose Petal
rated 3 of 5
EternityintheRain 11/3/2011 5:59:00 AM

It seems like other rosewater or rose type based lip balms, this does nothing on my lips. I have full lips that no matter how much water I drink, are always dry. It is the most annoying feeling in the world. I bought this when they had the spend $20 get $10 back sale at CVS. It didn't moisturize my lips at all, and I actually felt my lips feel dryer and "coarse". The scent is wonderful, the packaging is very cute, but I don't like it for a lip balm. Granted, this makes a great elbow moisturizer. The driest thing in my body besides my lips are my elbows, due to the fact that I always lean on them in class. This does an excellent job of making them look healthy. But it is too small amount to use on a regular basis. Overall, not pleased.

Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - Metal Eye Lash Comb
rated 5 of 5
EternityintheRain 7/30/2011 12:16:00 PM

I love this thing! I had to get it following reading these reviews and I was not let down. I hate when my lashes clump altogether. I have wee small lashes and I have recently become a mascara lover to give my eyes more definition. My lashes are nothing to brag about in terms of length, but in terms of "lash count" I have a lot. It becomes a problem because thanks to their volume, they can get clumpy easily. This helps clean them up and give them a soft, fluttery look. The combs are very thin and sharp. I hesitate every time I put this near my lashes. My 20/10 vision is a huge disadvantage with this thing. The nearer it gets to my eye, the bigger, clearer, pointier and sharper it looks. But one swipe of this, and all the clumps are gone. My lashes get separated beautiful and the look longer. It fits in my bag great too. I don't think people need to be warned, but do not use this in a car. Or anywhere dangerous. Just saying.
