Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Deep Cleansing Cream with Soap Bark and Chamomile
Akidrad 2/9/2010 4:23:00 AM
I'm returning this cleanser because, put simply, it doesn't cleanse! None of my makeup was removed after washing with this cleanser, and for $8, I'd rather go back to my lovely Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser that takes every trace of makeup off while leaving my skin soft. The Burt's Bees smelled nice, felt nice and tingly on my skin, and had a comfy creamy consistency, but it simply won't work for me, I need something to take all the dirt and makeup off. So back to Target this goes!

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Synthetic Flat Top Multipurpose Brush
Akidrad 2/8/2010 1:24:00 AM
After reading the glowing reviews for this brush I couldn't resist giving it a try, and I'm so glad I did! It's true, the brush is super soft and give a beautiful finish for liquid foundation (I used Revlon Colorstay). The handle is a little funky, but very pretty. Also the price was pretty reasonable considering the quality of the bristles and the handle. I have yet to find a Sonia Kashuk brush I don't like (but I only own 3) :-) The only reason I give it 4/5 lippies is because the head of the brush is a little small, so it takes a bit of time to do a full face (but it is meant to be a blush-brush, after all, so I can't blame the company). If you can afford $15 for a new brush, treat yourself and give this one a try!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 15 Normal/Dry Skin
Akidrad 2/8/2010 1:20:00 AM
I could not wait to write this review - I was that amazed the first time I tried this product! I have dry skin and finding a liquid foundation that (1) matches my fair skin and (2) doesn't look greasy or spotty or orange/yellow is pretty difficult. I picked this up today in the lightest Ivory shade and I LOVE it. It makes me look flawless, with a subtle glow, and natural at the same time. I also love that it's lightly moisturizing but dries quickly so I don't feel the need to powder it down right away. And it has SPF 15 - how wonderful! I'll take sunscreen where I can get it. If I ever have any problems with this foundation I'll update the review, but for now the only Con I see is that the bottle doesn't have a pump. But it's ok, I'll manage. Overall I am SO pleased with this product and I'm thankful for all of your MUA members for sharing your reviews -- I've been making such better makeup purchases since finding this site! P.S. I applied this foundation with the Sonia Kushak flat blusher brush which also got wonderful reviews and I love it--gave a perfect finish, so give it a try!

Blush -E.L.F. - Natural Radiance Blusher: Bronzed
Akidrad 1/29/2010 11:47:00 PM
Warning ladies -- this product is not a blusher at all! I was expecting a glowing blush, but actually it's much closer to a straight-gold bronzer. On my fair complexion it makes me look dirty and orange, with a bright gold shine. It's very unnatural and pretty impossible to apply lightly because it just sticks to where you first apply it. Doesn't blend too well, and I wouldn't recommend wasting the $1.

Lips -Wet 'n' Wild - Perfect Pair Lip Wand- Hanky-Pinky
Akidrad 1/29/2010 11:44:00 PM
Although I usually like Wet n Wild's products, this color was far too frosty & shimmery for my taste. I bought the #121, a light berry-pink and I really don't know where you could wear this color other than an '80s party. I can't wear it to the office or to graduate school, so mine is heading for the trash. The texture and packaging is nice though...

Palettes -NYX - 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette - Romance
Akidrad 1/29/2010 11:38:00 PM
I have to agree with all the other reviews for this product -- I too was duped by the NYX label and the cute packaging. Unfortunately, the product is garbage. The eyeshadows look so pretty in the container but they have poor pigmentation, poor staying power, and are just bad quality overall. Some of the prettier shades are sparkly but even with Urban Decay's Primer Potion the glitter falls off your eyes and onto your cheeks where it stays. Please avoid this product and save yourself the money! I am especially disappointed because I thought NYX was supposed to be good for eyeshadows and this was my first purchase from them. Well, for now it's going to be my last!! Into the trash it goes...

Loose Powders -L'Oreal - Translucide
Akidrad 1/20/2010 2:41:00 AM
I purchased this product based on the glowing reviews here. Unfortunately, I had to stop using this powder (although I did like its performance) because every single time I would use it I would have to sneeze. Every single time. And a big sneeze, not a little cutesy one. Since I had never had a reaction like that to a powder ever before, I looked it up in the online makeup safety database www.cosmeticsdatabase.com and saw that this product has a very high hazard rating. Although I liked the powder, I decided it simply wasn't safe enough for me to continue to use it. Just be careful out there ladies--there are safer loose powders on the market than this one! I'd recommend trying some powder other than this one.
