Highlighters -Cargo - PlantLove Baked Illuminator
ziebam 1/22/2009 6:27:00 PM
These are okay. Touted as a combination product of bronzer, blush, and highlighter with shimmer.

Infused with natural and organic ingredients, the formula is free of parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, and synthetic dyes and fragrances.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrance
- Synthetic Dye
- Petro-Chemicals
- Phthalates
What else you need to know:
This Sephora-exclusive bronzer comes in multiple shades and is housed in the award-winning PlantLove™ biodegradable packaging."
I tried all three shades. First, there is Fire, a shimmery silvery mix of hot pink, bronze, and white. Very silvery. Gives almost too much silver shimmer to the cheeks but also a nice amount of pink bronze cheeks. Nonetheless, the silver shimmer is a bit too much. Too bad cause this is pretty. Really can only use this color as a highlighter cause the silver sheen is just too much.
Next, you have Earth. Shimmery rose, shimmery gold and shimmery bronze. WAY too gold. This accentuates the size of the pores and just has more gold than color. This one went right back to the store.
Finally, there is Wind. Wind is a soft pink beige collection of bronze, browned pink and pale pink. A nice combination without over the top silver or gold sheen to it. The least overpowering and the only one you could wear all over. Its still shimmery, but it doesnt have the overpowering sheen of the other two.
all three worked with my nc30 light olive complexion and no breakouts which was really nice. I had a big problem with the MAC MSF's and breakouts but these worked better. THe packaging is a little awkward. Has the pretty Plantlove logo but the dome is little too big. Smaller and more compact would have worked better. Retails for $28.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Magic Night
ziebam 1/22/2009 6:15:00 PM
I saw this and passed on it. just another purple. heard some raves here so i went back tried it on my hand. Pretty eggplant plum shade. I then swiped a little Liberty over it, and i could see the violet flash to this and it was more unique. So i bought it. Well, once again, on my eyes, this color just looks like a smoky blackened plum color. Definately doesnt have the flashes of violet to it. Just another dark rich purple shade. Cant say its worth the $28.50 price tag. Its super pigmented and its also a little hard to blend. Would not repurchase this.

Eye Shadow -Vincent Longo - Liquid Eyeshadow
ziebam 1/17/2009 8:35:00 AM
I know these are discontinued but i had to write a review for anyone who gets a chance to pick one of these up! They are fabulous. A few years ago I tried one of their other liquid shadow formulas, and it was awful. When I saw these on sale at sephora for 50% off ($24 to $12), i grabbed 3. Well, they are amazing! They last all day with no creasing, and a good amount of pigment to them. Make a good shadow base too. Now they are at sephora for $6 and the value is even better but i still love mine for $12. I picked up Cream Flesh, a shimmery peachy beige, Liquid Desire a shimmer golden pink and one other pink shade without the golden undertone to it. All are great. I highly recommend trying one of these if you get the chance. They are different from the older liquid shadow formula.

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Sparkle Eye Palette
ziebam 1/16/2009 6:57:00 PM
i picked up both of these holidays after Christmas for $12 each. I thought they were a fabulous deal. Since then, people have found these for as low as $4, extremely insane fabulous deal. Both palettes have five full size shimmer shadow, one with cool shades and one with warm. THe colors are richly pigmented, blend easily and last all day. Great quality. The packaging is a little bulky, the slide out drawer houses a crappy tiny brush. Way too much container for the brush and its just cardboard. But the shadows are the stars. Grab this if you find one.

Eye Shadow -MAC - French Cuff (Brunette Blonde Redhead)
ziebam 1/14/2009 7:23:00 PM
Limited edition release part of the Brunette, Blonde, Redhead collection released January 2009. Retails for $14.50 and comes in the standard MAC black flip top pot. French Cuff is a lustre. A dry chalky formula which is my least favorite. however, the color is really pretty. Its a shimmery soft pink soft rose shade with a little microglitter to it in silver. the stickier the base, the better color payoff you get. i also like to pat this on with a flat brush. Overall, texture sucks but the color is great so i would repurchase.

I was so excited about this but when i got home the shimmering powder is Pink Chocolate that was released a while ago. EXACT same palette but in a newer sleeker container. Its got shimmery berry tones in a light pink, shimmery rose, shimmery plum shades. Really pretty together but i dont need another one. Also has a full size silver Black Honey lipstick, the perfect soft plum shade. The mascara is a mini but nice nonetheless. This is going back though since i have it already.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - quick eyes cream shadow in truffle
ziebam 11/25/2008 9:31:00 AM
This is a really great product. The new Quick Eyes Cream Shadows are great. They come in a small tube with wand applicator. The applicator has a tiny flocked doe foot on the end. These last all day with no creasing and come in some rich colors that arent too sheer like some cream shadows.
Truffle is a gorgeous deep taupe shade. Really pretty with my brown eyes. And i am just a sucker for a good taupe. I usually swipe some on with the applicator and use my finger to sheer the color out or i just layer with the applicator for a smokier effect. Overall, this is a great product. Retails for $15.

Eyeliner -MAC - Pearlglide Liner in Fly-By-Blu
ziebam 11/25/2008 9:26:00 AM
Limited edition release from the Suite Array Collection released September 2008. Comes in standard MAC pencil form and retails for $14.50.
These liners are touted as "A creamy kohl-like eye liner with a sparkly, reflective finish. Highly pigmented: stands out for its rich, luxurious colours and pearl-metal look. Provides eye-catching, highly stylized contrast for any look. Smooth. Glides on. Feels comfortable. Long-wearing. Available in eight trend colours.
1.45g / .05 US OZ."
Fly By Blu is a STUNNING sapphire liner with purpley blue glitter to it. Its really unique and the glitter gives the color dimension and adds something different. Lasts all day with minimal smudging, but there is a little. This is not recommended for the waterline. I also notice that the glitter in these can make my eyes itchy if i wear them day after day so i usually skip a day in between. limited edition.

Bankroll is a shimmery vibrant bright green. almost emerald but a little lighter. Very pretty but a tad on the light side. I like to line the inner rims in black or dark green to really make the eyes pop with bankroll on the upper and lower lash line. Really pretty. Lasts all day with minimal smudging, but there is a little. This is not recommended for the waterline. I also notice that the glitter in these can make my eyes itchy if i wear them day after day so i usually skip a day in between. limited edition.

Palettes -Lauren Hutton - Passport to Brazil
ziebam 11/14/2008 6:34:00 PM
OVerall, this is an excellent kit if you use the face products. Its Lauren Hutton's face disc compact plus color products in a convenient carrying case. Lauren has done three of these. This set has the cool purples in it. I wear the medium and am an NC30 light olive complexion. OVerall, Lauren's concealers are excellent. She gives you several colors in sheer and heavier formulas which cover all day without creasing or caking. The other natural looking products, really do perform well for a sheer natural makeup look. (See my review of the face disk for more info). The colors in this kit are pretty but not overly unique. This is definately worth purchasing for the face products not the color products. Retailed for $50 as a TSV. One compact has the face products, the other side has the color products.

Concealers -Vincent Longo - Cream concealer
ziebam 11/14/2008 6:29:00 PM
This is a pretty good concealer if you can find a match. I am an NC30 light olive complexion and for a slightly lighter concealer i wear amber, and for slightly darker I use the dark. Depends on my tanning. Comes in a round pot with twist off cap. Reminds me of Benefit's concealer but with more shades. The concealer is slightly dry so I like using a stiff taklon brush (Vincent Longo makes an excellent one) to put the concealer on and then i use the ring finger to tap and blend. Lasts all day. Really nice product. Retails for $26 and will last quite a while.

Black Russian is a true dark black with a little silvery glitter to it. On my lids, it just looks like black Nothing particularly unique here. Lasts all day with minimal smudging, but there is a little. This is not recommended for the waterline. Highlighters -Smashbox - Soft Lights - Shimmer
ziebam 11/13/2008 5:59:00 PM
I have this as a large single and in part of a duo with a blush from a QVC TSV autodelivery set. this is a large compact of shimmer powder in a pale pink shade. The shimmmer is super fine and just gives the skin a slight sheen. No chunky glitter in this. Overall its a nice highlighter. My problem with this product is that it is really soft and breaks apart easily and at $28 a pop, I want it to be a little more accesible. My favorite shimmer powders are still the Becca powders. So although this is a nice product, i probably wouldnt repurchase

Makeup Brushes -Smashbox - Retractable Lip Brush #18
ziebam 11/13/2008 5:52:00 PM
I dont actually like this brush. Retractable Lip BRush #20 is red and retails for $20. The tip is rather pointy and i prefer a lip brush with a litttle more width and thickness to it. It feels rather puny on my full lips. I prefer the Scott Barnes retractable lip brush to this one. Though I do like the ease of the retractable since it makes less mess.
