Styling Products -Clinique - define curls
zaftigrrl 2/26/2004 9:40:00 PM
This is the first cream-based product I've tried on my hair. I have medium-length very curly, dry hair. I like this product, but it didn't define my hair as much as I wanted it to. On the hand, it defininately doesn't make you crunchy or dry you out. It has very little smell, which I prefer. The packaging is plain and utilitarian. In terms of price, it is fairly pricy. I might buy again...

Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Hellcat

This smells quite boozy in the bottle, but that dissipated quickly on my skin. The next strong scents at first are hazelnut and butter. These fade to a sweet "holiday spice" scent. Good for a cold day.

Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Snake Oil
zaftigrrl 2/25/2004 1:11:00 AM
This scent is awesome! It begins spicy, sweet with a hint of something like patchouli. The dry down is sweet with something deliciously spicy, like an gingersnap. I didn't like the imp's ear packaging, but will update when I recieve a larger bottle. -UPDATE- I liked Snake Oil a lot, but I like Scheherazade even more! Instead of the vanilla note in SO, Sch. has a musky note. Really sexy.

Skincare - Body -Burt's Bees - Bay Rum Exfoliating Soap

I really like the smell of this soap: sweet, spicy, bay leaves... Unfortuantely, it is just too harsh and abrasive for most of my body. I do like it as a scrub under my arms before I shave, though any scrub would be just as good.

Fragrances -Bulgari - Black

I love tea, and really wanted this to work for me. Unfortunately the black rubber smell previously mention is way too strong on me. The initial black tea note fades to a sweet, vanilla, tire smell. Not so super... On the other hand, this smells delicious on my husband! On him it has an initial rubber smell that drys to a warm sun tea + vanilla. I'm not so wild about the packaging, but will buy again for my husband.

Fragrances -Alexander McQueen - Kingdom
zaftigrrl 2/1/2004 4:10:00 PM
I had been looking for a new fragrance for a while when I tried this scent on at a Sephora store. It was too sharp for me at first (neroli?), but I loved it after about an hour. I lucked out and got a great deal on a large (3.3) bottle along with a roll on, the shower gel, and the body milk on ebay. Kingdom has become my very favorite everyday scent. The body products have a softer, kinder version of the scent. Yummy! I smell no B.O. or cumin on myself. Initially it has a sharp, crisp note, that mellows after the alchohol has evaporated. The dry down (on me) is mostly sandlewood/amber with a delicate floral quality not really identifiable as rose. The bottle itself is very sexy/romatic. I highly recommend trying this on and living with it to make sure it reacts well with your chemistry. *UPDATE* I am taking off one star because I put some on right before bed the other night and woke up with the dreaded B.O. smell on my wrists. Yuck. It doesn't do this to me if I wear it during the day, and doesn't leave a B.O. smell on my clothes....

Lotions/ Creams -Victoria's Secret - Pear Glace Silkening Body Lotion
zaftigrrl 1/27/2004 11:05:00 PM
Good body lotion, unappealing smell. The scent is very sharp and strong, a candy-apple and lemon sort of thing. The smell takes hours to dissipate, and is hard to wash off. Not for me.

Conditioner -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease - Glistening Creme Conditioner
zaftigrrl 1/27/2004 10:30:00 PM
I have long, curly, dry hair. This is an ok quick conditioner, but offers nothing special in the way of frizz control for my hair. It smells good and isn't too strong a smell. It has a nice medium-thick consistency. I just expected more from a frizz-ease product, I guess.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
zaftigrrl 1/27/2004 10:26:00 PM
The skin on my hands is very dry, sometimes to the point of flaking, cracking, and bleeding. Working with powders in my job doesn't help much. This lotion is the best stuff I've found so far to soften, moisturize, and protect my hands at work. Be forewarned, the smell is strongly herbal and hard to get used to, so smell it before you buy it! It also takes a while to rub in, but the dimethicone in it makes it a nice and slippery massage. I'm not so wild about the metal tube it comes in, but I do really like the product itself.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream
zaftigrrl 1/27/2004 9:48:00 PM
I have very dry skin and have to work with powders at work. I bought this to keep in my office, hoping it would help with some of the problem. First off, it smells to me like baby lotion or powder (pretty gross to me, maybe good for someone else). It is thick and rich going on, but did little to moisturize my hands. It does a better job on non-dry parts of my body, such as the back. The package is unisex and unoffensive, but makes it hard to get that last bit out. At $8 an ounce, I can do lots better at the drug store!
