Moisturizers -Desert Essence - Jojoba Oil - 100% pure

Hands down, one of my favorite oils of all time!!!! Makes my skin look and feel great, but honestly I mostly use it on my scalp and on my ends. Keeps my dandruff at bay and keeps split ends away from me. Jojoba oil is non-comodegenic so it won't clog your pores and its the closest oil to the natural oil (sebum) that we produce already. This brand though is super light in texture, smell and color, and tried many brands of jojoba oil. Great stuff, gals!!!! :>

Conditioner -Giovanni - Magnetic Restruxuring Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
twinkletoes0613 9/28/2007 2:30:00 PM

This isn't a terrible conditioner, it just isn't very moisturizing. I would consider this a medium-protein conditioner, so it would be best not to leave this in your hair too long. I've tried this twice so far and it really helped detangle my thick curls and make my hair feel strong, but there wasn't much shine or bounce to amaze me. I love Giovanni's Nutrafix the best, so that's probably the only one I would repurchase in the future.

Shampoo -Giovanni - Magnetic Energizing Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
twinkletoes0613 9/28/2007 2:26:00 PM

This is definitely too drying for my hair type (naturally curly, thick 3C)....so I will not repurchase this! I'm thinking it's probably the soy protein in this that my hair doesn't like??? However, I really like the smell of this, very clean soap scent, but I'm accepting the fact that Giovanni's conditioners work better for my hair than their shampoos.

Treatments -Pantene - Restoratives Relaxed and Natural Breakage Defense Deep Conditioning Mask
rated 5 of 5
twinkletoes0613 8/30/2007 6:37:00 PM

Very nice! This is the first product I've tried from the R & N line, and after reading some great reviews on the hair forum that I am a part of, I finally decided to buy it. Excellent choice! I have thick, curly, bra-strap length hair that is probably a mix of 3B-4a ish, so I need tons of moisture and breakage defense. Now, I was really thrilled to see only one cone listed in the top ingredient (andemethicone) and coconut and jojoba oil. I left this in my hair for about an hour and when I rinsed my hair felt really nice. I've only tried it once so far, so can't comment on the strengthing part, but I'm sure it will live up to its standards. Oh yeah, the scent is nice too, and I don't really mind the jar packaging. Sometimes stuff that comes in tubes is hard to get out anyways, so I don't mind it.

Styling Products -Aveda - Purefume Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade
rated 4 of 5
twinkletoes0613 8/30/2007 6:30:00 PM

This is a nice little pomade! oh wait, I shouldn't say "little" because although it comes in a small bottle, it has a hefty price tag! pros: smells great (which means a lot to me since I normally hate the smell of most of Aveda prods), perfect for my thick, 3C curly hair, helps prevent reversion after I straightened my hair. great for braidouts! cons: isoproply palmitate (alcohol) is listed as one of the top ingredients (alcohol can really dry the hair out over time), cost almost 20 bucks for a little jar, again some of the ingredients are scary. all in all, I'm glad I finally purchased it! I needed something to stop my flat ironed hair from looking a hot mess!

Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray
rated 4 of 5
twinkletoes0613 7/18/2007 5:38:00 PM

This is good! Performs just as well (if not better) than Nexxus Heat Protects IMO.....it doesn't make my hair feel weighed down at all or sticky (like L'Oreal heat straight), and its ingredients are similar to Nexxus but far cheaper. Less than 4 bucks,,,,give ita try!

Cleansers -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Vitamin C Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
twinkletoes0613 5/14/2007 6:17:00 PM

This is a nice, refreshing all natural facial cleanser. I have combination skin (oily T-zone, dry everywhere else), and I was looking for something non-drying that would gently remove oil, dirt, and makeup, and I believe that I have found it. I have tried Neutrogena Acne wash (nice, but still would get pimples), Desert Essence Tea Tree wash (super drying, lost a ton of eyelashes), and I occasionally still use Cetaphil (horrible chemical scent, but keeps my face clear). So I have been using this cleanser for the past two weeks and my face looks nice and smooth. I do not suffer from acne, I get the occasional "monthly" pimples like most gals, but my oily forehead and nose can be a problem. So i found this online and gave it a try. Well worth it for me, this is definitely a keeper! The scent will definitely wake you up in the morning :)

Powder -Make Up For Ever - Duo Mat Powder foundation
rated 5 of 5
twinkletoes0613 4/30/2007 10:13:00 PM

I Absolutely Love this Powder/Foundation!!! I just received mine from Sephora today, and it will definitely be replacing my MAC Studio Fix foundation (NC40) and powder sheer coverage. This is very light weight, and matches my skin tone perfectly (#209). It is costly, but worth every scent. It provides a nice matte finish concealing all blemishes and oily spots, and you only need to apply it once. It doesn't leave hard to remove stains if you ever get it on your clothes (unlike MAC-I had to throw out a shirt because of how bad Studio Fix stained it) Anywho, this is a fab new foundation. Love it!

Conditioner -Alterna - enzymetherapy hemp repair weekly treatment intense damage repair
rated 5 of 5
twinkletoes0613 4/23/2007 7:46:00 PM

OMG!!! this stuff is amazing! Let me tell you, at first I was very concerned when I first bought this because of its runny consistency, but once I applied this throughout my hair my hair was unbelievably soft, bouncy and shiny! Even though I mixed it with a little bit of K-Pak, I know that this treatment delivers the goods. Oh and it smells heavenly! Very fruity! Super expensive, but definitely worth it for healthy hair!!!

Treatments -Joico - K-Pak Intense Hydrator
rated 5 of 5
twinkletoes0613 4/2/2007 1:11:00 PM

I am writing a review for the KPAK Intense Hydrate Conditioner, and I must say it is the best thing since sliced bread! I am switching from PhytoJojoba mask to this beloved hair wonder! I purchased it over the weekend, and deep conditioned with it for 30 min, my hair has not had this much body, shine and strength in ages!!! And the scent is to die for, heavenly bananas. This is worth the $17 price tag....full of keratin amino acids, which our hair needs, and tons of protein and moisture for just the right amount of slip. I couldn't wait to come on here to write a review. Next, I will try the matching shampoo and leave-in. I just might switch to the entire KPAK line. oh yeah, my hair type is between 3b-4a, dry thick coarse, curly, so I need something as intense as this. hallelujah!

Hair -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Natural Jojoba Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
twinkletoes0613 3/19/2007 7:54:00 PM

Far too drying for my thick, coarse hair....would probably work for gals with fine thin hair who one a super light conditioner. i'm not too keen on the smell, it does smell like hospital hand soap or baby wipes.

ehhh, I tried it again for a second time, dries my hair out and the scent is disturbing. can't describe it but it's not pretty! I've come to the conclusion that Jason 'poos and cons are not for me....Giovanni prods are much better in my opinion.

Conditioner -Phyto - Phytojoba - Intense Hydrating Mask
rated 4 of 5
twinkletoes0613 3/13/2007 5:01:00 PM

This is a very moisturizing mask. I used it for the first time over the weekend, and kept it in my hair for two hours because my strands have been super dry lately, and my hair came out fabulous! Very shiny and bouncy! And it smells like sweet oranges... I actually like this better than the Citrus mask. It is definitely worth the big bucks!

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)
rated 4 of 5
twinkletoes0613 3/13/2007 4:44:00 PM

I've been using this face wash for the past three weeks, and I love it! It doesn't dry out my skin, it keeps my skin clear and less oily. It cost me around 8 bucks at Rite Aid, which is a little pricey for a drugstore cleanser, but I'm over the price since it gives me good results. As for the smell, it is a little perfumey and chemical, but I can get over that, too!!

Conditioner -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Jason Natural Sea Kelp Conditioner
rated 2 of 5
twinkletoes0613 2/16/2007 10:08:00 PM

I am rewriting my review, initially I thought I liked this but realized it was only good because I mixed it with something else (pureology nanoworks mask). But it is super drying on its own. I can tolerate Jason's all natural shampoos, but their conditioners do not provide enough moisture for my thick dry curly hair. This might work better on fine-haired gals.
