Styling Products -TiGi - Superficial
rated 2 of 5
tshinn 10/3/2008 3:32:00 PM

Oh, I really wanted to like this but sadly, it did not work for me. I got this at Ulta last week and used it twice and I brought it back today. This product costs $23.95 at Ulta and for that price, you'd expect great results. Superficial is a serum-like spray (not a gel serum) that is meant for wet hair. It is an oily, silky liquid that smells like fruit candy. Be careful when you spray this because it can make your sink and bathroom floor slick. I sprayed it onto my fingertips and applied it manually in sections. The first time I used it, I sprayed it on my bangs when they were wet and blew them dry while using my ceramic barrel brush. My bangs were soft and looked shiny but the overall result was kind of greasy. The rule with this stuff seems to be "a little goes a long way." The second time I tried this spray, I applied Paul Mitchell Super Sculpt styling glaze all throughout my wet hair and then put on the Superficial just the ends of my hair only and blew out my hair. My ends felt soft but looked super puffy and frizzy. So, I tried a little more and nothing changed. I reached for my Aquage Beyond Shine and then my ends really got smooth and shiny. Basically, this stuff is useless for me. I think this product is better-suited for thicker, straight hair. I have super fine, wavy-curly hair and I need something that is going to give my hair weight and a soft hold. With that said, I will not buy this again. Not worth the hefty price at all. Back to Super Skinny Serum by PM for sure.

Deodorants -Alba Botanica - Clear Enzyme Deodorant Stick
rated 1 of 5
tshinn 9/18/2008 3:52:00 PM

Like other reviewers have stated, my under arms tend to smell worse with this product than nothing! To start, I purchased this at Whole Foods about a month ago. I was looking for an aluminum free formula and when I saw this deodorant in lavender, I decided to try it. I liked how this was a clear stick and the scent was great. But after a couple hours of wear, I realized I was starting to smell like BO and my under arms felt wet! I never smell like BO, nor do I get wet during normal activity! I have not smelled this bad during my "cleaning house day!" You know, when you clean the house from top to bottom while wearing your old tee shirt, old bandana and yoga pants? Yeah, this stuff made me stink. Gross. For now, I have gone back to Secret. I will continue to look for toxin-free formulas until I find one that controls order and wetness. What a letdown!

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Dime
rated 5 of 5
tshinn 9/8/2008 7:11:00 PM

This is yet another winner from Urban Decay! I am very addicted to these liners as of late! I now have Deviant, Covet, Baked, Electric, Gunmetal, Stash and now this in Dime. Dime is a pure, white-toned silver. Therefore, the "Dime" name is quite appropriate. The level is of shimmer is great and the fact there is also tiny microglitter (silver) makes this liner even more fantastic. Like all of the 24/7 Liners, Dime goes on very smoothly and the texture is silky, creamy, and soft. Today, I wore this liner on my top and lower lash lines along with MAC's Paint Pot in Fresco Rose (very, very lightly applied on my lower lids only). Then I applied MAC's satin shadow in Mylar all over my entire lid and then put on Dime on my lower lid and lower lash line. I gently smudged the liner on the lids to soften and viola, shimmery and pretty goodness. This liner will also be a good highlight effect pencil too. I almost bought the 24/7 liner in Yeyo but I thought it was "too pearly white." Yet, Dime is a perfect blend of light sliver with pearl shimmer. Love this!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Matte eyeshadow in Yeyo
rated 5 of 5
tshinn 9/4/2008 6:41:00 PM

I literally just bought this at Sephora. I exchanged it for a 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero (also by UD). Yeyo is a white matte shadow that looks super white in the pan but goes on light and sheer. The color is a perfect highlight/brow bone shade that will compliment darker shadows. Like the other MUAer stated, if you are looking for a saturated, "shock white" color, than you will not find it in this product. Instead, this shadow is amazing for a enhancing wash of color.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
rated 2 of 5
tshinn 9/4/2008 11:37:00 AM

I recently purchased this liner at Sephora and I really wanted to like it since I already have six (Electric, Baked, Deviant, Gunmetal, Covet, and Stash) of these fabulous 24/7 Glide-On Liners. I adore the colors, the smooth texture, and the shimmer and glitter effects. However, Zero is a huge letdown. Zero is a solid, intense rich black with no shimmer. It is a creamy black that goes on deep and dark. Most of these liners have great staying power but Zero was literally "smudge city." Within an hour of application, the liner was smudged and sliding off on the inner and outer corners of my eyes. The other liners do slide a bit due to my very oily skin and that is normal but Zero was far worse. Now, the liner did not look too bad but it did not live up to my expectations having considered my experience with the other colors. I am sad this did not work for me because this black is perfect. I am going back to using Liquid Last in Point Black.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Deviant
rated 5 of 5
tshinn 9/2/2008 5:17:00 PM

I just bought this today from Sephora along with UD's Zero liner and this color is yet another winner. Of the 24/7 Liners, I own Electric, Stash, Covet, Gunmetal and now Deviant and Zero. These liners literally glide on, hence the name, and stay put. On me, however, they do tend to slide off a little in the inner and outer corners of my eyes ( I have very greasy skin). Other than that, I love the shimmery, glittery effect and the creamy texture. The colors are amazingly intense too. Deviant is a deep sapphire blue with a shimmer effect. The color pairs well with MAC's Liquidlast Liner in Blue Horizon and most blue shadows. I think MAC's Cult of Cherry "Shadowy Lady" Eye Quad will look great with this liner too. Overall, these liners are addicting and are great products. I also love how they are animal byproduct free. Vegan and beautiful!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Fresco Rose [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
tshinn 8/29/2008 7:58:00 PM

I finally got a pot of Fresco Rose yesterday and I am wearing it today. Like all Paint Pots, this makes my shadows more intense and last all day. Fresco Rose is a light to medium toned pink with a soft shimmer pearl effect. I can understand how some of the other MUAers thought this made them look "sick." Unless you are going for a true pink/purple look, I can see how that can happen. I think a light touch is key as well. Also, if you find that the color is too pinky, you can apply a light white-based shimmer on top and that should tone it down. Today, I first put on Urban Decay's Primer Potion all over my lid and then applied Fresco Rose on my lids. After that, I used the Galeano (light mauve pink shimmer) from the Kat Von D for Sephora Palette in Beethoven. Then I applied the darker mauve purple shadow ( Sinner from the same palette) in my crease. Next, I used MAC's Mylar mixed with MAC's Phloof on my Highlight/brow bone and applied MAC's Liquidlast liner in Point black for a cat eye look. I finished with applying UD's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Gunmetal on my lower lash line. The overall look is a soft pink, shimmery look with a pop of silver. Fresco Rose really works well for pink, purple, and mauve toned shadows in all color intensities. Yet, I think some may like this better if they use Fresco Rose for darker shades like UD's shadows in Crash, Flash, Kiss, Purple Haze and Last Call and MAC's Shadows Creme de Violet and Memorabilia.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Plushglass - Oversexed
rated 3 of 5
tshinn 8/27/2008 6:38:00 PM

Out of 5 lippies, I would rate this a 2.5. I received this in my online order yesterday. I ordered Fresco Rose Paint Pot but the warehouse accidentally sent this plushglass instead. I promptly called MAC online sales's 1-800 number and I spoke with a very nice and amazingly helpful sales rep. She told me that not only did it show that I had indeed ordered Fresco Rose but that my invoice should have been hand-checked and initialed and yet it wasn't. She said I could kept the gloss or throw it out and that she was going to send me the correct item right away. Talk about cool! So, since I do not believe in waste, I decided to keep it. I mean, why not? Oversexed is a brownish, berry plum gloss with gold glitter that is very subtle. The color looked super dark in the tube but when applied, the gloss looks like a very light, stain effect with a soft shine. I did not notice any obvious glitter. The smell is quite different that the standard vanilla scent that I associate with most lipglasses. The scent reminded me of coconut with a slight spice. The smell is weird but it does dissipate after a while. I did not really notice a plumping effect either. Overall, this gloss is okay but it is not something I would pick since I do not tend to go for the plumping thing and the color is not really my style. I prefer reds, pinks, and corals. Yet this color is light enough that it would be nice on non-makeup days and/or yoga class.

Lip Liners -MAC - Cremestick Liner - Velvetella
rated 4 of 5
tshinn 8/21/2008 6:04:00 PM

I really like these cremestick liners! They are great! The twist up feature is amazing and so convenient! No need to sharpen and therefore waste product! The texture is creamy and the liner glides on with no tugging or skipping. Velvetella is a super dark black plum shade with a strong purple undertone. This shade will go great with MAC's lipsticks in Cyber, Diva, and mattene in Bing. I really like this liner and I would buy it again but I am sure this is going to last a long time because even though I love the new dark lippies for Fall, I do not see myself wearing them everyday.

Lipstick -MAC - Lightly Ripe
rated 4 of 5
tshinn 8/21/2008 5:13:00 PM

This new baby is from the just released, "Hot off the presses" Cult of Cherry Collection from MAC. This collection is a gathering of cherries, cranberries, eggplants, pinks, and chocolates. It is making me want to make a cherry pie and then eat a whole dark chocolate bar! Fall is here and is tasty and dark! Cult of Cherry includes 4 lipsticks (although two are a repromote, i.e. Russian Red), 4 new mattenes, 4 lipglasses, 3 eye quads, 2 blushes, and a mascara. Today I bought Cult of Cherry lipglass and Lightly Ripe lipstick. I also tried other items and I have to say that this collection is pretty. Lightly Ripe is a Lustre formula, meaning the color is on the sheer side. The texture is light and silky. The shade is a light, shimmery pink with a slight nude undertone. The shimmer is peachy gold and is very subtle. I would call is a YLBB color for sure. You could actually apply this without looking in the mirror and it would look great. This lippie will go great on 'non-makeup days' and/or with a smoky eye. Most of the colors in this collection are super deep and rich but like this lippie, there are a few that are on the lighter side of the spectrum. This collection is LE so if you have the chance, go out and check this new set of colors. It is very pretty and quite cool. Love!

Lipstick -MAC - Mattene in Bing
rated 4 of 5
tshinn 8/21/2008 5:01:00 PM

This brand new mattene is part of the just released MAC "Cult of Cherry Collection." This collection embodies deep tones of cherry, berry, chocolate, and rich blackened purples. Cranberries, cherries, and Hershey bars. The new collection includes 4 new mattenes, 4 lipsticks (although two are a repromote, i.e. Russian Red and O), 4 new lipglasses, 3 eye quads, two blushes, and a mascara. Bing is a mattene that looks like MAC's Satin Lipstick in Cyber. Cyber is a deep blackened purple with eggplant undertones. This color, just like Cyber, pairs well with MAC's Velvetella cremestick liner. I think that in order for this color to look good, you must have color on your cheeks and a balanced eye shadow look. Bing could look too harsh if you do not tailor your makeup around it. I tried this color but did not buy it. I may go back and get it later when the weather cools down. I wish this color was a Satin. I think the concept of the Mattenes is great but I prefer a true matte or satin. Some of the Mattenes like Powersuit and Seriously Rich tend to slide off. I think they are a bit too creamy. Maybe I am applying too much, I am not sure. Or maybe I am being too picky and expecting too much. Overall, this color is super wicked badass. It is LE so go check it out!

Lipstick -MAC - So Scarlet
rated 3 of 5
tshinn 8/21/2008 4:48:00 PM

This lipstick is from MAC's brand new "Cult of Cherry Collection." This collection just debuted in stores today and the colors are rich, deep, lush, and pretty. Dark lips are the rage this upcoming Fall season. Dark nails have been huge the last few seasons and now lips are joining in. The new collection includes 4 lipsticks (although two are a repromote, i.e. Russian Red and O), 4 new mattenes, 4 new lipglasses, 3 eye quads, two blushes, and a mascara. I tried out two lipsticks, Lightly Ripe and So Scarlet and I just bought Lightly Ripe. So Scarlet reminds me of MAC's lipstick in Dark Side. The color is blood red crimson with a slightly brown undertone. Imagine a paper cut, that is this color. This shade is also an Amplified so it is quite emollient. I once had MAC's Dubonnet and did not like it because the dark burgundy shade just creeped and slid all over my lips. I think the Amplifieds are just better suited to lighter and/or brighter shades like Girl About Town, Hollywood Nights, Chatterbox, or Impassioned. I really wanted to like this but I think the formula is too 'wet' for this dark of a color. Overall, I think this color is a 5 but since it is too moist and buttery, I would rate this as a 3.5 lipstick. Again, I do like it but I think if it was a Satin, it would be fantastic.

Lip Liners -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Wicked
rated 5 of 5
tshinn 8/21/2008 4:38:00 PM

I have really getting into an "Urban Decay groove" lately! I have recently discovered the awesome quality and variety of their shadows, eyeliners, Primer Potion, and now their new 24/7 lip pencils. I bought this in Wicked. Wicked is a lightly shimmery mid-tone pink that pairs well with pink-leaning nudes, light pinks, true pinks, rose shades, and I can even see this being good for filling in lips and then a gloss on top. The pencil glides on smoothly and the texture feels creamy and soft. I am wearing this today with MAC's Pink Plaid and the two really go well together. I love the subtle shimmer effect. The other colors are Heavy (nude), Envious (a darker berry red), Gash (brick red), Naked (neutral pink), and Ozone (clear). I already have Gash and Envious will be next. I love how all these are made with no animal by-products! Vegan and beautiful! Looooooooooooooove!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Cult of Cherry
rated 4 of 5
tshinn 8/21/2008 4:36:00 PM

This brand-spankin' new lipglass is from MAC's highly antcipated "Cult of Cherry" collection. This collection just debuted in stores today but has been available on MAC's website for a few days. This new collection includes 4 new lipglasses, 4 mattenes, 4 lipsticks (although two are a repromote, i.e. Russian Red and O), 3 new eye quads (some palettes also contain repromotes), and two blushes. I bought 2 items; one lipglass and one lipstick. The Cult of Cherry lipglass is a red gloss with shimmer/pearl. The red has a slight cherry undertone and the color looks very powerful and intense in the tube. But once applied, the gloss gives a nice wash of color on its own. I think the color is not too sheer but it could be slightly more pigmented. Moreover, I think this lipglass would pair well with red lippies like MAC's Russian Red, Ruby Woo, or Glam. This gloss is LE so go out and get it now! The whole collection is worth a look.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Covet
rated 5 of 5
tshinn 8/20/2008 4:25:00 PM

I am in LOVE with these pencils! So far, I have Stash, Gunmetal, Electric and now this one in Covet. Covet is a deep emerald shimmery green with a slight blue undertone. It is literally like shimmery, glistening gems in a tube! The pencil just glides on and there is no tugging or pulling. The shimmer/glitter is soft and subtle. I am wearing this today with MAC's pigment in Teal and Urban Decay's shadow in Oil Slick. Come to think of it, Teal and Covet are almost the same shade of emerald. Talk about awesome! The staying power is good but not iron-clad on me. I have SUPER oily skin and liners tend to slide off a bit on my inner and outer corners of my eyes. But as most liners go, this one lasts longer. So much better than MAC's Powerpoint. I would buy more of these for sure! Now I want Deviant, Dime, and Yeyo!
