Treatments (Eye) -DuWop - iGels
trueblue002 7/23/2007 1:52:00 PM
I like DuWop, and according to Sephora, this is one of their signature products. So I picked them up and got them on a discount for roughly half the price. I fell asleep with the orange ones, and they got stuck in my hair. Today I did the blue ones, and they did smell nice and molded to my eye well when I used an eye mask on top to secure them. My eyes are less tired, somewhat. Not drastically, but I feel more relaxed. It's a very cool idea. The packaging is not user-friendly though, because there is no easy way to put them back in their tray with the annoying aluminum foil cover. I used plastic bags instead. I wouldn't buy this product again- I have two gel eyemasks which do essentially the same thing, but without the aromatherapy. And my aromatherapy collection is vast, none of which need to be used on my eyes.

Polishes -OPI - Kyoto Pearl
trueblue002 7/22/2007 5:25:00 PM
I agree with the majority here: it's gorgeous in the bottle, but doesn't deliver no matter how many coats you apply. I've still found a good use for it as a topcoat, though. Like all OPI polishes, it dries well and lasts a long time without chipping, but the white really isn't strong enough. You're better off with Essie's Below the Belt.

Lip Gloss -Cargo - DailyGloss
trueblue002 7/22/2007 5:14:00 PM
Although DailyGloss is convenient and airport friendly and DID win the DuPont award for best packaging, I find more of a novelty. I bought it because I wanted to try the gloss before I bought it--it was a whim purchase. And while it looks pretty cool, I'd prefer the tins. But to try it before buying it, why not? The gloss is smooth and silky and sleek but still pigmented. My complaint is that it is shimmery/glittery, and sparkles are really not my thing. I will be buying a CARGO gloss soon. If anyone reading this is a CARGO fan, please email me with recs of your fave lipgloss combo. When I have the dinero and the tiempo, I will buy and add a real lipgloss combo review. Hopefully sooner than later. I'd also like to say that of all the makeup brands I have used, CARGO is the best by far. I have not been disappointed by any of their products.

Blush -Cargo - BeachBlush in Sunset Beach
trueblue002 7/22/2007 5:08:00 PM
This is by far THE best product I have ever bought. I use it alone on days I feel like being low maintenance. It is a great, workable blending blush/bronzer. Yes, it's pricey, but Cargo is KNOWN for their blushes, and for good reason. I read a Lucky magazine beauty editor's tip that said apply blush or bronzer to forehead and as an eyeshadow as well for a healthy look. So I tried it, and I look like I got back from a spa or something. And the tin it comes in is so minimalist! I love this stuff. My skin is BareMinerals fair/golden, if that helps if determining if this product is right for you. The only one of the BeachBlushes that looks sketchy to me is CoralBeach (too orange). And although some reviewers wrote it was great for summer, I think a healthy glow is appropriate in winter also. I must shout it from the rooftops--this product is wonderful! TIP: Use it on eyelids for a natural color wash that can be layered and blended or simply worn alone. Like Cargo's eyeshadows, the formulation is smooth and blendable. Well worth a try-- why not get two uses out of one product?

Candles -Unlisted Brand - Method - Eucalyptus and Mint soy candle
trueblue002 7/14/2007 7:19:00 AM
I'm way into aromatherapy, so when I got bored with my oil burner, I decided to give this a try. The blend of eucalyptus and mint is a genius combination. It smells so lovely! Very fresh and energizing. I can't wait to get back home from stinky camp and let this baby burn!

Self Tanners -Neutrogena - Sunless Tanning Spray-Deep
trueblue002 7/8/2007 9:11:00 PM
Since I really liked Neutrogena's tanning lotion, I figured the spray stuff would be a good product also. It goes on evenly and consistently, although it smells TERRIBLE. This is probably due to the dihydroxyacetone, which is the key ingredient in all sunless tanners. Anyway, I looked subtly tanned, without the UVA/UVB damage. One tip I have is to apply it more heavily to areas you want to slenderize-it makes your muscles look toned and defined. At first, I attributed this to my yoga classes, but now I realize it was this all along.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara Waterproof
trueblue002 7/8/2007 9:06:00 PM
After reading praises about this product from Allure and Seventeen, I assumed it was worth shelling out all of four dollars for this miracle mascara. What a waste! This mascara is clumpy and leaves lashes brittle even if you do use eye-makeup remover. The brush is a wimpy little thing that serves no purpose other than to smudge and smear during application. It is great in name only. You're better off applying dung to your lashes with a concrete slab.

Mascara -Almay - One Coat Mascara (lengthening)
trueblue002 6/18/2007 3:58:00 PM
I decided to give this a try after reading a review by the Cosmetics Cop which listed it as a top choice. I was not disappointed! It lengthens, thickens, doesn't flake of smudge or clump...everything I had dreamed Clinique's Dramatic Lash would deliver. For a much lower price and higher quality product, this is worth it! It gives me pretty, baby-doll lashes in that naturally-gorgeous-not-obvious way.

Mascara -DuWop - Lash Lacquer
trueblue002 6/7/2007 12:16:00 PM
Not flashy mascara. Smooth, consistent texture with a dual ended tube- one for conditioning mascara and one for the waterproof coat. It has a subtle, natural look to it. I wish it came in a larger tube and that the tube's coating wouldn't wear off so quickly as it did mine. Pretty in a just woke up way.

Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - Lemon and Sage silky milk
trueblue002 6/6/2007 6:37:00 PM
Expensive, but worth every penny (although my aunt bought it for me). The scent is strong but not too strong. And it's so lovely you don't mind that it's strong. It is so smooth and silky and generally everything you'd ever want in a body lotion. Can you tell I'm a fan?

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Lip Shimmers
trueblue002 6/6/2007 6:34:00 PM
The original formula in it is as wonderful as usual, but HATE the color selection. All looked garish on me or too brown. But I guess it could work for some people. Probably my lips are just oddly colored.

Blush -Bare Escentuals - Warmth All Over Face Color
trueblue002 6/6/2007 6:30:00 PM
It can work, but only if applied extremely lightly- otherwise you'll resemble an aged sun worshipper or worse yet a fake and baker. One thing real beauty is not is an unhealthy skin damaging tan. why would you want to look like that in powder form? so use it on forehead, cheekbones, and chin (lightly being the operative word here). when applied correctly, it looks healthy and natural. There. That's better.
