Eye Shadow -Chantecaille - Lasting Eye Shade in Myrrh
tito_barf 4/2/2008 1:46:00 AM
This shadow is my favorite--the color is great for pale skin, the pigmentation is perfect, and it might be the silkiest shadow I own (I have many brands, too). I can apply it with a finger and it doesn't go on chalky; it is easily blendable. I often use it on its own, as it is a great shade for me to use on a 5-minute face. I dropped this a few times (and used the bits and pieces for ages), and recently repressed it. I've mostly repressed MAC, with some Jane & mineral powders thrown in, and the Chantecaille eyeshadow was like finely milled silk dust--amazing. The price, yeah, it's expensive, but WELL worth it for me.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
tito_barf 3/26/2008 7:18:00 PM
Not bad, but not for me. It is more moisturizing, less waxy, than the regular Burt's Bees Peppermint lip balm. The scent is subtle and I don't find that it tastes like anything (which is nice). However, it is still a bit waxy AND---it broke out the area around my lips, big time.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Complete Moisture Lip Balm
tito_barf 3/26/2008 7:14:00 PM
Love it. It actually does wet & moisturize my lips. It may not have the gooiness of aquaphor or something similar, but it is more effective for me. My husband, a Burt's Bees addict, does not like the texture--it's too thin, he says. However, this is the only lip balm I reach for. I keep them in coat pockets, purses, backpacks, next to my bed, and where I keep my keys for quick touchups on the way out the door. I can't describe the flavor, a bit fruity. I really like the flavor, but it's not so tasty that I find myself licking it off!

Just have to share the hate for these "lip balms." Sure, the scents are okay, but the formula is horrendously bad. I'd rather lick my lips all day than use these.

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Paul Mitchell -Extra Body Sculpting Foam
tito_barf 3/23/2008 12:16:00 AM
I want to love this mousse again, but it is too heavy for my fine hair. I use the rest of the PM extra body line, and have used 2 or 3 bottles of this already, but with shoulder length hair, it is too dulling and sticky. It is entirely possible that I have accidentally been using too much, but considering that I use the same as when I had very short hair, it's unlikely. It IS a good mouse that doesn't die out once you're out the door, like Suave, and it is texturizing, but it is also very strong.

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Extra Body Daily Boost
tito_barf 3/23/2008 12:13:00 AM
Great product, tricky to use. It will absolutely give you volume that lasts beyond a hair brushing, like another reviewer said -- Texas hair if ya want it! I don't want that, so I use a smaller amount. According to my stylist, and to my experience with it, you need to spray it only at the roots AFTER brushing out your hair. If you brush it through the rest of your hair right after you apply it, you will get sticky, dull hair. I put it on the last of my styling products before drying, and avoid spreading it through with my fingers at first. Once it has dried a bit, you are safe. The spray bottle has not yet clogged on me in 2 years, and I love the little spray guard that it comes with when you buy it--that has saved my luggage many times! Don't throw that little contraption out!

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Thicken Up Styling Liquid
tito_barf 3/23/2008 12:08:00 AM
Have been using this for a couple of years now, and will continue to repurchase it. My stylist uses it on my hair, along with other products from Paul Mitchell's extra body line. I get flexible but definite volume from this, and it works as a styling product as well. The pump makes it easy to control how much you use every day. I have plenty of fine hair that really needs all day body, and this does it. I do find that at the end of a rough 10-hour day, my hair is crap, but this will last through a regular day or evening.

Conditioner -Aussie - Sydney Smooth
tito_barf 3/23/2008 12:04:00 AM
I'm a fan of this conditioner. Haven't used Aussie products in years, but stayed with my sister for a while & used her Aussie Sydney Smooth. I had a couple different salon brand conditioners, but way preferred this. It moisturized, and gave me sleeker, shinier hair after blow-drying. I used it in the summer, so I didn't find it too heavy for hot days either. Will definitely purchase my own when my conditioner supply (large) runs out.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Kerasal AL Lotion
tito_barf 3/20/2008 12:39:00 AM
Please note that this review is for the foot lotion, not the popular ointment version. I purchased this on clearance, hoping for a solution for my dry, callused feet and cracked toes. Unfortunately, this stuff is bizarrely ineffective. It is very runny (I have to store the tube upside down), and I get minimal results. The ingredient list suggests that it would be far more moisturizing and thick than it actually is, and I do indeed shake it every time I use it, just in case separation has occurred. I even try applying Aquaphor or a similar product over it, with similarly unimpressive results. I even tried it every night for a week, but I may as well have been applying regular body lotion for all it did for my cracked feet. Ultimately, stick to the ointment. I haven't tried it, but it sounds better than this. Perhaps there was a REASON it was on clearance!

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Luxe Pink Paradise
tito_barf 3/12/2008 4:09:00 AM
Bought this as a dupe for Aquolina's Pink Sugar, and as far as my nose can tell, it's right on. The lotion is decently moisturizing, enough that I prefer it to Bath & Body Works' regular lotion for nighttime hand lotion (must have yummy scents at night!). The scent is long-lasting, too, but doesn't seem overwhelming. I get compliments whenever I put it on in my office! Note: if you are looking for this, don't be dumb like me and pick up the Pink Grapefruit scent by accident. Same color, WAY different scent.

Moisturizers -Garnier - Nutritioniste Ultra Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Moisture Cream SPF 15
tito_barf 3/12/2008 4:03:00 AM
I've been using this as a night-time eye cream for several months. I got a huge handful of sample packets, but know that it won't work on my face (acne-prone). I've been quite happy with it as an eye cream. I don't get redness from overexfoliation, I don't have an increase in milia, and it is moisturizing without being greasy. I've used it as a "control" eye cream when trying other lotions, and I usually see a negative difference in the guinea pig eye. I'd actually give the eye cream version of this a shot some time.

Shampoo -Trader Joe's - Balanced Moisturizing Nourish Spa Shampoo
tito_barf 1/26/2008 4:50:00 AM
First off, this has the exact same ingredients as Giovanni Smooth As Silk shampoo, but is several dollars cheaper. I agree with previous reviewers that this is not a moisturzing shampoo. It is gentle on my hair, but doesn't leave it silky like a shampoo with silicones would (which is fine by me). I like that it is detergent-free (at least as far as I understand) and don't mind using it daily. I personally wouldn't purchase this again because my hair needs something more moisturizing. However, I would suggest it for someone who is looking to try SLS-free hair care. It's inexpensive and a good basic. Therefore, I chose "yes" for buying this product again.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Drying Cream
tito_barf 1/22/2008 2:37:00 AM
This is one acne-fighting product that I will happily repurchase. I thought that I was expecting too much from other spot treatments (PC BPO, Nelson's Acne Gel, Noxema Salicylic Acid toner) but now I know that they just weren't working for me. Yes, it smells, but it's not unbearable. You only need a dab of it, I find that an opaque coating is too much and just irritates my skin. I always use it over moisturizer to avoid irritation, since it's pretty strong on its own. It absolutely speeds up the healing of any zit I have, big or small. It may or may not prevent outbreaks, but it keeps any under control. Love it. The full size tub will last me a loooong time.

Treatments (Eye) -Dove - Pro-Age Eye Treatment with SPF 8
tito_barf 1/2/2008 8:25:00 PM
This eye moisturizer gives light to moderate moisturization. It has a brightening ingredient that lightens the eye area when applied (not permanent). I like this a lot for daytime use and under makeup. I can see a difference when I use it, in terms of under eye circles. This is temporary, but better than nothing! The best I can describe the texture is grainy-but-not-Grainy. It feels slightly dry going on, but does moisturize. It feels silky when on. I don't use it at night because I don't feel it does enough for fine lines. I won't repurchase only because now I'm won over by its brightening properties and am searching for a cream that is more effective for this. It's a good budget buy for lighter dark circles, but not for anti-aging.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel Macroviolet
tito_barf 12/9/2007 2:04:00 PM
I have pale, warmish cool skin; dark hair and green eyes. This color is great for me, though it doesn't show up very purple when it's on--more subtle. It still brings out my green eyes. Is great for a smokey eye, since you can blend Fluidline onto the whole lid. Love the slight shimmer in it, adds a nice depth.
