Lipstick -Guerlain - Guerlain Rouge Automatique - Cherry Blossom 161
thesavagefamily 8/15/2011 9:01:00 AM
I couldn't wait to try these lipsticks and see the colors IRL. Cherry blossom was described as a cool pink on a website I looked at, so this was not what I wanted at all. When I tried it at Sephora, it was a beautiful neutral (leaning toward warm) pink with gold mixed in. It is absolutely beautiful and a great shade for the day. The packaging is bulky, but a wonderful idea. I had to be careful to not push out the lipstick too much, but push it out enough where the packaging did not get in the way of application. The formula is creamy and packs a lot of color in one swipe. The color wears evenly and remains moist on the lips with a satin finish. I am glad I tried this color and recommend it as a nice daytime "pink with punch."

Lipstick -Guerlain - Guerlain Rouge Automatique - L'Heure Bleue 168
thesavagefamily 8/15/2011 8:50:00 AM
I was so excited to get one of these lipsticks! L'Heure Bleu is a beautiful berry, medium burgundy color with red shimmer. This will be a beautiful Summer/Spring evening or dramatic color or Fall Winter day color for me. It is not too bright on my medium skintone which is why I would feel comfortable wearing this in the day. The packaging is bulky, but easy to use with one hand and you won't loose the lid. The drawback of the packaging is that the top sometimes gets in the way if you don't push the lipstick out far enough (I was afraid it would break off if I pushes it out too far). As far as formula, the lipstick goes on smoothly and gives a satin, creamy finish. It does not bleed or wear unevenly. The color is so rich you won't have to apply multiple layers. All in all, I am glad I have this color in my arsenal and the formula is perfection with great coverage. In the picture with the multiple products, it is the darker color.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Adrenaline
thesavagefamily 8/13/2011 7:13:00 PM
I wanted this from the time I saw it on the sephora website! I love the idea that it is a full color lipstick in pencil form. Adrenaline is a hot pink color with microglitter. Not a neon fushia color, but more of a warm fuchsia as described on sephora.com. I would not wear this during the day (unless I was going for a funky look), but it will be perfect for a evening out or to a party. It applies easily and is opaque. The glitter is noticeable, and a red color. It is not as gritty as in some lipsticks, but I do feel it when I rub my lips together. The pencil wears well and does not bleed, which is a plus. I plan on picking up F bomb or Punch Drunk next.

Brows -Urban Decay - Urbanbrow Precision Tip Brow Tint
thesavagefamily 7/20/2011 10:08:00 AM
I was looking for a brow pen that would look natural and fill in a bit. While I have full brows, I do have a small scar in a brow that I need to fill. I ordered the Universal Brunette color as my brows are dark brown and my hair a medium brown. The pen looks just like a liquid liner pen and the brush is slightly stiff. I tested the color on my hand and it was a nice dark brown. The applicator allowed light strokes instead of lines of color like an eyeliner. The pen was easy to apply and blended nicely. I also noticed the area that I feathered on the pencil on my hand wore all day after numerous hand washings--which is a plus for me living in high humidity. The only concern is that I feel this color is a bit dark (even darker than Smashbox Brunette), so I might exchange it for the blonde. I have used Mary Kay blonde pencil in the past and like the natural look it gives. As I said, I don' t need to darken my brows, but just fill in a bit to look polished. If you like the speed of a brow pencil, but are looking for something super long wearing, this would be perfect.

Misc Beauty Tools -Bliss Labs - 'Pore'-fector Gadget Kit
thesavagefamily 5/3/2011 10:21:00 AM
I almost did not buy this due to the poor reviews, but since I had rebate money and a gift card, I did. I have problems with large pores, hormonal breakouts, and clogged pores. I have used the Clarisonic for over 1 year along with PTR Anti Aging Cleanser, DDF glycolic toner, PTR Glycolic lotion, and various serums and ance gels. My pores are smaller, but I wanted something to refine them more (even if it is temporary) and purge blackheads and sebaceous filaments. I let it charge about 4 hours until the light was green, cleaned my face with Boscia oil and PTR cleanser, then put on the Bliss toner. I put the toner on one portion of my face at a time and ran the pore-fector over the area I had just toned. I saw it work! I literally saw my pores being cleaned and the dirt coming out -gross, yet refreshing at the same time. It felt like light raking on my skin. I continued this all over my face, pulling it taught on my cheeks. Then, I cleaned the applicator and applied my EL serum and used the other side to massage it in. My skin was so smooth and looked more even toned with 1 use. I used it again this morning the same way and massaged in my Chanel serum, again having smooth skin and less noticeable pores on my cheeks. Now, I know the results are temporary, as pores cannot change in size, however, I have never even had a mask that cleansed my face as well as this gadget, so I'll continue to use it. I suggest trying this item if you are on the fence about it. Just be sure where you purchase it has a good return policy in case you don't like it. It works for me and provides totally different benefits than the Clarisonic (in case you wondered). UPDATE: I have been using this for almost 4 weeks now and have seen wonderful results. I use it once per day (almost every day) and now spray my Garden of Wisdom hydrasols instead of toner. My blackheads on nose are almost gone and my cheeks are smoother and pores are smaller. Again, I use this most every day to maintain results, but I continue to see great results and clean, clear skin.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco Shine #42 Biarritz
thesavagefamily 4/8/2011 11:13:00 PM
I really like the coco shine formulas. They apply like a lipstick, but have the feeling of a gloss with sheer, buildable color. I experienced no bleeding and the color wore off evenly. While the gloss shine did wear off some, the color stayed behind and looked very natural. Biarritz is a peach nude color which looks natural on my NC 30/35 skin and med. tone lips. It will be a great color for Spring/Summer or evenings with a darker eye. I prefer the peach nudes, as they compliment my warm skin tone well without washing me out. It brightens up my face and will be a nice change from my bright peach and pink lippies for the Summer. I do plan to purchase a few more of this formula, as I like the feeling of a gloss and the application of a lipstick. UPDATE: I have never had to re-apply lipstick as much as I have to re-apply this. I still like the formula, just be ready to re-apply very often!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco Shine #51 Unique
thesavagefamily 4/8/2011 11:07:00 PM
Love the formula of these lipsticks as they are perfect for Spring and Summer! The apply like a lipstick, but have the feeling of a lip balm with sheer, buildable color. I am a NC 30 or 35 and have medium pigmented lips. Unique shows up as a berry pink with a gold sheen. The color looks very natural, yet isn't as light as most of the other pinks in this collection. It really warms up my face and adds a nice pop of color and shine. The color lasts even when the shine wears off and I did not experience bleeding of the color either. I will purchase a few more as I love the quality and colors of Chanel lipsticks! UPDATE: I will not be purchasing more because they just don't wear long enough. I have never had a problem with lipsticks wearing no matter what the formula or brand, so these aren't for me.

Foundations -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full-Coverage Foundation SPF 15
thesavagefamily 3/26/2011 9:57:00 AM
What an amazing foundation. I purchased this as part of a set from QVC and the foundation is supposed to be exclusive to qvc until July 2011. I am about an NC30 or NC35 and ordered the "tan" color and it was perfect. It seems these foundations run a bit light, so this color was perfect. It comes in a squeeze tube and is very creamy and thick. I just put a dot on forehead, nose, cheeks, chin and buff in with the foundation brush that came with the set. It covers well without looking cakey or sinking into pores or fine lines. I was hesitant about the large brush the set came with, but have used it with great results and it buffs the foundation right in providing an amazing finish. I have hormonal acne prone skin, combination, and this foundation wears all day on me, minimal, if any, touchups or oil breakthrough. If you are looking for a liquid/creme foundation that gives med to full luminous coverage, this is it!

Moisturizers -Mary Kay - Enriched Moisturiser Formula 1
thesavagefamily 3/12/2011 10:33:00 AM
I have combo/acne prone skin and was looking for something gentle to use after my MUAC peels. I have used this moisturizer in the past when my skin was dry from wind/weather, and have had good results. I like this cream because it sinks into skin and doesn't lay on top of skin like a coating. I can also apply my makeup over the top and not feel like a greaseball an hour later. This works perfectly after my lactic or glycolic peels, however, I have not done a TCA peel and used it as of now (but I plan to). I do recommend this if you are looking for a moisturizer that is very gentle and penetrates the skin. I ALMOST like it as much as Chanel hydramax, but MK does not have a scent (and I like Chanel's scent). For the price, a definite deal (find a rep that will give you $$ off!).

Treatments -Peter Thomas Roth - Acne Spot and Area Treatment
thesavagefamily 3/7/2011 8:26:00 PM
This is so expensive for an acne treatment, but it works. I have been using the PTR Anti Aging Cleanser, DDF glycolic toner, PTR acne spot treatment and PTR Glycolic lotion and had no breakouts. If I do feel a spot coming on, it goes away before it comes to a head. I have hormonal acne and got tired of paying $45 for my treatment cream, so I purchased this. It has last a while, as I just use less than one pump and spot treat only, so I will purchase it again. It has sulfur in it, so I don't know if that is why it works better. I am open if anyone has another alternative, but until then I will repurchase. Since I have been using these products I have not had a breakout (even during that time of the month). I am so happy with PTR!

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue, Glitter Bonding Eye Shadow Primer
thesavagefamily 2/4/2011 1:48:00 AM
This is like glue! It goes on a bit tacky then dries to a clear shine. I just lightly patted my MAC glitter on top and it stuck like glue! It did not wear off, no fall out, no movement what-so-ever after 12 hours. This stuff works! My favorite primer is by Mary Kay, but this is the best one I have found for glitter and loose powder shadows (BE, MAC pigments...). I haven't tried this for eyeshadow, but plan too soon. If you are a shimmer lover such as myself, this is a must!

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Big Smooch Gloss in Nude
thesavagefamily 2/3/2011 12:41:00 AM
This is the neatest gloss I have tried! It comes in a box that reminds me of a BE gloss, only smaller. The gloss is divided into 2 compartments which one contains a nude color gloss, and the other a gold/nude shimmer lip plumper. You turn the dial to gloss and out comes a doe foot wand with a great nude color .Replace the doe foot and switch the dial to plumper, and a brush applicator comes out so you can apply the gold shimmer plumping gloss. I never thought this gloss would have 2 applicators--a first of its kind that I know of. The plumper did not sting or burn my lips, so I think it would be perfect for most people. This is $12 and found on the towers in front of the cash registers. I hope this comes in more colors, cause I am gonna buy more. Give it a try for a great everyday color and an innovative product.

Skincare - Face -Susan Lucci - Youthful Essence
thesavagefamily 12/22/2010 7:54:00 PM
Bought this on a whim for a great price from hsn.com. I use a clarisonic, so I wanted to see the difference in the attachments and what would happen when using a microdermabrasion cream. I currently use Mary Kay MircoDermabrasion and some products from MyChelle for exfoliation, so this was something new. The wand does not spin like the Clarisonic, it just feels like gentle vibrations. I used it with the microdermabrasion cream, which felt very smooth, and had great results. The first time I used it my skin was very smooth and more toned. The second and third time I used it my blemishes were much less noticeable and my skin still very smooth. I use this after my clarisonic with no irritation (as I have strong skin) and am pleased with my results. I will update after a month or so. I think the $45 I paid was worth it for the microdermabrasion cream, cleanser, and moisturizing cream alone! UPDATE: I sent this back. I began breaking out in tiny skin colored bumps all over my face. I tried it for about a month and about a day after was left with bumps. I did like the results, smooth skin, red marks faded, but realized something in the cream made me break out.

Shampoo -Wen by Chaz Dean - Cleansing Conditioners - All
thesavagefamily 12/15/2010 11:12:00 PM
I have extremely dry hair, heavily highlighted and naturally curly. I only wash about once a week and straighten once a week also. I have fine hair, but lots of it and again, extremely dry! I saw this product on qvc and finally gave in and tried it. The first cleansing conditioner I ordered was the fig one since it is good for dry hair. I did not use as many pumps as they recommended, but I used enough to coat my hair. I massaged it into my scalp for a minute or 2 then left it on for about 5 minutes. My scalp felt so clean and my hair so moisturized. I have used the Fig, Tea Tree, Sweet Almond Mint, and Lavender thus far and love them all. I find my hair is in better condition, more moisturized, and I only use one product. I do use a deep conditioner after my hair is colored, but use the WEN first. I have also used WEN to rinse the bleach from my hair for highlights and it does a great job of getting all the bleach out. I purchased this for my mom and sister for Christmas and recently bought the pomegranate to try. I will not be switching anytime soon!

Lips -NARS - Lip Stain Gloss in Indian Red
thesavagefamily 12/9/2010 7:56:00 PM
Purchased this at Sephora.com for $10 with the gloss on the end. I love this stain. It wore evenly all day, and there is a bit on my lips after 9 hours of wear. It did not feel drying or cake on my lips and is a beautiful shade. I did top it with the gold gloss on the other end, but did not touch up all day. I would recommend trying it, as I did not find it to be as drying as other lip stains or wear off in patches!
