Mascara -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Mascara - Indiglow
rated 1 of 5

I bought this mascara in Indiglow (navy) & Violight (purple) - both were a disappointment. The color barely showed up on my dark lashes & the formula did not nothing to pump up fullness or length. I like the packaging, but would def not repurchase - in fact I used it only 3x before giving up & tossing it in the trash. It just did nothing for me - maybe it would be more dramatic on blonde lashes?

This mascara was a big disappointment. It barely shows up at all on dark lashes & as others have noted, does nothing to add fullness, length, volume, etc. Would def not repurchase, in fact I think I used it only 3x before tossing it in the trash, it just did absolutely nothing for me. Maybe on blonde lashes it would be more dramatic?

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Wet/Dry Shadow
rated 4 of 5

While I found the VS Luminous e/s hard to master & cannot for the life of me apply it w/o making a mess, I'm glad I tried the Wet/Dry e/s in Gold Rush (GR). It's finely milled, decently pigmented & the shimmery finish is ultra flattering to my pale winter skin & brown eyes. As fatbottmdgrl noted, GR is a true gold shimmery shade. I wore it Christmas Eve & Christmas Day & I couldn't stop glancing at my eyes in the mirror, the e/s just made my eyes sparkle! The next time I'm in VS I plan to grab some more in brown & green. The website shows available colors & I'm a little bummed it's not currently available in silver, but hopefully they'll come out w/it soon. For $4 (I did the 5/$20 makeup deal), you really can't go wrong!

Powder -Cover Girl - TruBlend Minerals Pressed Mineral Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
spinthedeck 10/19/2009 10:27:00 PM

Yes, I WOULD def buy this product again but, as with everything else I fall in love with, it is being discontinued! (according to the CG site) Son-ova-b***h! I bought this in a pinch over the summer and was pleasantly surprised at how it disappeared into my skin, provided "just enough" sheer coverage & reduced shine. (I think the trick w/most drugstore products is to have low expecatations - when it works out, it's like you discovered a hidden gem!) Hopefully CG replaces it w/a similar pressed mineral foundation product b/c for the price, it really was a great drustore buy!

Powder -Neutrogena - Mineral Sheers Compact Foundation ALL
rated 1 of 5
spinthedeck 10/19/2009 10:12:00 PM

I had high hopes for this product but found that it's just way too sheer to offer any decent coverage. It really should be marketed as a powder & not a powder foundation, although I find it barely even takes the shine off my T-zone. I originally thought I had just not applied an adequate amount, but the more you brush on, the more it makes skin look chalky; it also highlights imperfections especially lines & any patches of dry skin. I prefer Cover Girl TRUblend Pressed Mineral foundation as it offers just the right amount of coverage, blends in much better & appears to be of a finer mill. (Unfortunately, I just saw on the CG site that they're discontinuing this product, FYI.) Anywho, if you're looking for any kind of semi-decent mineral coverage, I'd suggest you not waste your $$ on this product & instead try another brand.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Selsun Blue Naturals Dandruff Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
spinthedeck 9/4/2009 3:40:00 PM

Although I have found some relief using H&S Dry Scalp shampoo, which contains 1% pyrithione zinc as the active ingredient, I wanted to see if Selsun Blue (SB) Naturals for Itchy, Dry Scalp, which uses 3% salicylic acid, works better. The light citrus scent was nice, but even though the bottle says it contains an "extra hydrating formula to help stop dry scalp itch," I didn't experience any additional relief as compared to H&S. In fact, I had a few pimples pop up along my hairline just before I started using SB; I thought for sure the salicylic acid, common in many acne products, would clear them up quick - it didn't. I definitely won't repurchase.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Anti-Dandruff Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
spinthedeck 9/4/2009 3:26:00 PM

If you have mild dandruff or dry scalp, this may work for you. The smell is heavenly, which unfortunately suggests it's lacking in the medicated ingredients necessary to treat moderate cases of dandruff and dry scalp. I found better relief using Head & Shoulders Dry Scalp shampoo, even though I'm still searching for a HG anti-dandruff/dry scalp shampoo which won't strip colored hair.

Lipstick -Neutrogena - MoistureShine Lip Sheer in Shimmering Blush 30
rated 4 of 5
spinthedeck 7/30/2009 3:07:00 PM

These Lip Sheers are formulated exactly like Clinique Almost Lipstick, right down to the sleek silver packaging. There is a slight tingle due to the mint, but nothing as intense as those lip plumper lipsticks & glosses. The coverage is less than that of a lipstick but more than a gloss. Shimmering Blush is a peachy-pink shade which looks amazing w/a tan! I'm looking forward to another BOGO sale so I can try some more shades, I'm really impressed w/this product!

Mascara -Rimmel - Sexy Curves
rated 1 of 5
spinthedeck 7/26/2009 12:23:00 PM

Pretty packaging & cheap - the positives end there, though. This did nothing to build a curl on it's own, had to still use a curler. I also found it extremely clumpy going on & it left my lashes looking stiff. I threw it away after a/b 3-4 uses - that says it all! Maybelline Colossal & CG LashBlast are better drugstore mascaras for full, sexy lashes.

Styling Products -TRESemme - So Sleek Defrizzing Gel
rated 1 of 5
spinthedeck 7/10/2009 12:47:00 PM

Another dud from the Smooth Defrizzing line! As with the Simply No Frizz spray gel, this left my naturally wavy hair dried out, crunchy and dull. TRESemme promises "24 hour climate control/humidity resistance" w/this gel, but there is absolutely no way this controls frizz in any kind or weather, humid or not. No wonder TRESemme is always on sale - it's a $4 product that acts like a $4 product, so I guess I really shouldn't be that surprised...

Styling Products -TRESemme - Simply no frizz spray gel
rated 1 of 5
spinthedeck 7/10/2009 12:30:00 PM

No wonder Tresemme products are always on sale! I used maybe 8 spritzes of this for my entire head of damp hair - I was hoping my hair would dry into smooth frizz-free shiny waves. OMG - a few hrs later my hair was a crunchy, dried out mess & this was on a 81 degree day w/only 31% humidity! I can only imagine if I used it much more liberally than I did, oh vey...I ended up pulling my hair back b/c I was so embarassed, it looked like I had a bad perm or something. I've also tried the So Sleek Defrizzing Gel which again dried my hair something fierce - this whole line is just crap, IMO.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Age Shield Sunblock Spf45
rated 1 of 5
spinthedeck 5/26/2009 1:37:00 PM

Stupid me, I bought this before checking MUA reviews. Impressed w/the Neutrogena name & the whole Helioplex thing, I bought this & was disappointed from day one. Most horrible sunscreen I've ever used - greasy & leaves little white "pills" all over your skin, it's disgusting & embarassing! I don't understand how Neutrogena could put their name on such a inferior product? It also stung a bit, especially on my cheeks and under my eyes - not something you'd expect from a "dermatoligist recommended" line! I switched to Aveeno Continuous Protection SPF 30 for Face & couldn't be happier. If I could give this a big fat zero rating, I would. Save your $$ & try something, ANYTHING, else!

Blush -Revlon - Floral Affair Blush in Honey Bunch
rated 4 of 5
spinthedeck 6/27/2008 6:24:00 PM

My absolute fav of the three FA blushes I own: Honey Bunch (HB), Pinking of You & Peachy Keen (listed in order of preference.) The warm peach-bronze colors & beautiful design sucked me in; HB leaves my pale/fair skin w/a honey peachy flush that is just sooooooooooooo pretty! Wears a/b 3-4 hrs w/foundation, maybe half that time w/o. I apply w/a cotton ball in a light, circular/buffing motion; I find this method both prevents waste & blush over-load since the colors are highly pigmented. PS - Although you can see some sparkle in the blush shades, I find HB has a matte finish; if you want a peachy blush w/shimmer, try Peachy Keen,
