Eye Shadow -Jemma Kidd Makeup School - Eye Wardrobe Colour Quartet - Natural
solai 8/8/2010 4:13:00 AM
This is a great palette for a natural look. I have very fair, cool based skin and the shades look extremely natural on me but I think they'd look great on many kinds of skin tones. There are two sets of colours and I wasn't too sure on the ones on the left but both sets look great. The colours for the lid are slightly shimmery, the pigment is good. The shades are lighter than in the sample picture on the Jemma Kidd website. Usually this kind of light, natural colours don't spread evenly or have enough pigment in them but these ones have a nice finish. Even though the highlighter colour on the left is a pale greyish purple, it just brightens up the brow bone and doesn't look weird. Also the shimmer isn't obvious and just gives a nice, natural brightening effect. Although I like this palette a lot, i feel it's overpriced. I bought it for about 15 pounds a couple of years back and it felt a little steep even then. Also, the outside of the packaging is difficult to keep clean as it has a slightly tacky, rubbery feel to it. The surface picks up any kind of powder or colour and gets a little scruffy quite quickly. I'm not going to buy the palette again for the packaging quality and the overpricing.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - 3M - Nexcare Acne Patch
solai 8/6/2010 3:45:00 PM
Ever squeezed a zit and it went all wrong? Bleeding, broken skin, damage. This is when the Nexcare acne dressing/patch will save you. I had a horrible zit just like that and normally an icky, crusty scab would form. I put an acne patch on it and left it overnight. During the night, the patch had turned white and when I took it off, no scab! Just even skin and a red area where the damage was - fantastic! You should use this after you squeeze a zit and it'll heal perfectly and quicker without any scabbing or flaking. It won't shrink zits if you haven't squeezed the gunk out, though.

Masks -Freeman - Facial Enzyme Mask Pineapple
solai 8/6/2010 3:38:00 PM
This is an okay AHA peeling mask for a really cheap price - and you get A LOT of it. The downside is that it has tiny beads in it so you can't be 100% sure if it's actually the AHAs that are peeling or the beads. I guess that's the cost of a cheaper product. It works alright but it's not the greatest AHA mask I've used. However, if you want an everyday AHA peeling mask and don't want to spend loads, this is a good choice. The INCI list is okay and it makes your skin soft without irritating.

Treatments -Juju Aquamoist - juju cosmetics aquamoist essence
solai 8/6/2010 3:31:00 PM
What's good about this product? It doesn't have any extra ingredients, comes in a handy pump bottle and takes care of your skin. What's bad about it? Nothing. The essence makes my skin feel super super soft and relaxed but it's NOT a miracle product. It won't make you look 10 years younger or get rid of those zits but it will help your skin feel better. I have high hopes for it in helping me get through rough winter weather. Use it like it says on the packaging or otherwise you'll get a filmy feeling on your skin and your skin will feel dry. First cleanse, then pat some water on it, apply a pump of the essence and immediately apply your moisturiser after that. If your skin is dry or you won't apply a moisturiser after or you mix this with your moisturiser, it won't work well or even at all. Also, remember to store it in a cool place. Finally I found a hyaluronic acid serum that doesn't contain weird perfume and unnecessary ingredients. Thumbs up!

Cleansers -Vichy - Essentielles Facial Cleanser
solai 7/25/2010 2:27:00 AM
Vichy Essentielles facial cleanser is a fluid cream cleanser for dry skin. It does a good job in taking off make-up and removes non-waterproof mascara residues. However, you need to cleanse a couple of times to get off the mascara residue. I'm guessing that for removing sun screen and extremely heavy make-up, you'd still need another cleanser or oil cleanser before using this one. This cleanser is definitely non-drying and leaves skin very soft and smooth. It leaves an almost siliconey feeling finish without containing silicones or mineral oils. A good every day cleanser for normal to dry skin. I'd definitely consider using this in winter.

Primer/ Corrector -Kanebo - Freshel White C Brightening UV Makeup Base
solai 7/3/2010 4:07:00 AM
As a primer, this works well. The liquid is white and light but does not give a totally matte finish. It doesn't make your skin oily but the finish isn't matte. In fact, it has glitter in it. You have to be very careful when putting this on because you'll be left with white flecks on your face if you don't blend it extremely carefully. This is the worst quality of this product besides the glitter. Although there is no white cast, the liquid will stick on to any dry patches you have so as a make-up base, it's best suited for normal to normal-dry skin. Also, the SPF is only 35. However, as a make-up base, it works well and keeps your products in place really well all day. The packaging is very small (25ml) but the product lasts quite well. Not an outstanding product but a good make-up base with sun protection - if you don't mind the flecks.

Pressed Powders -Paul & Joe - Pressed Face Powder N
solai 7/3/2010 3:56:00 AM
This powder comes in a very nice packaging. The powder however, is only average. I have shade 01, which the SA said is a sort of highlighter but the shade goes on me as a normal face powder. The shade is a very light and shimmery so it's not the bets powder for that use because of the shimmer. Although the shade is slightly yellowish, it goes well as an all purpose powder for fair skin as it doesn't cover much. Sadly, the powder contains mineral oil so I'd repurchase only for the packaging.

Concealers -MeMeMe Cosmetics - Flawless Concealer
solai 7/3/2010 3:49:00 AM
Looking for a very light shade concealer? Flawless Concealer in 1 vanilla is it! I've never been able to find a highlighter or concealer that'd ever be light enough for me. This liquid concealer comes in a very light shade and is VERY pigmented. You only need to dab on the tiniest amount of it. A really great product. I wish Superdrug would deliver outside the UK as MeMeMe is definitely one of the brands that offer great products with great price.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - castledew
solai 7/3/2010 3:42:00 AM
This is a review for Castledew Diacut Eyes (9 colors) 902 Planet Shine. I really like this palette as the colours are very pigmented - even the light colours spread well and show the colour nicely and evenly. The shades are very shimmery so the only bug I have is that there isn't any matte colours in the palette. Otherwise, the palette is really good and the shades go well together for creating different looks. The packaging is sturdy and comes with two small sponge applicators and a good sized mirror. The mirror is big enough for applying make-up properly so this palette is a good choice for travelling.

Primer/ Corrector -Rimmel - Recover Perfect Skin Primer - Brightening
solai 7/3/2010 3:36:00 AM
The primer does not brighten my skin nor am I took convinced of its amazing priming qualities. However, it's a great help in correcting foundation shades. I have very fair skin and need a slightly pinkish shade when most of the lightest shades are very yellow. I use this primer to correct my foundation and in this it works great. If you need a pink shade in your liquid foundation, this might help.

Liquid -Clarins - Colour Tint [DISCONTINUED]
solai 7/3/2010 3:32:00 AM
Although Colour Tint is a sheer foundation, it gives some coverage and evens out the skin tone. The best quality of this product is that it spreads on like a dream and is untraceable. Despite being oil free it feels very moisturising and is suitable even for dry skin in winter time. Out of all the foundations I've tried, this one spreads on the best - it's almost like a moisturiser yet gives enough coverage to perfect my skin. My shade is 01 soft beige/clair, which is the lightest shade available where I live. It's not quite the right shade for me and a little too dark but since the foundation is so sheer, the shade isn't completely wrong. I haven't been able to find this foundation from shops recently so I'm suspecting it's been discontinued. However, I'll be looking into other Clarins foundations since they all seem to have the amazing undetectable quality when you spread them on.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
solai 7/3/2010 3:24:00 AM
I used this is 010 Ivory and it was a tad too yellow for me. I have fair, cool based skin so I had to add a pink primer to this to make the shade suitable. The foundation went on really easily, doesn't show and just overall made my skin look really nice. It doesn't cover much, but if you need just some perfection to your skin tone, this will help you get there.

Loose Powders -Unlisted Brand - Lotree Rosa Davurica loose powder
solai 5/30/2010 10:48:00 AM
I got this more than a year ago and still haven't used it up so it lasts for quite a while. This is a really nice all purpose loose powder. I have the lightest shade, 21, and it suits my cool based, NW10-15 skin perfectly. The powder smells like fresh roses and comes with a small container, which I guess you can use to fill with the loose powder. I haven't used it, though, so I can't say if it's messy to fill and use. This powder doesn't leave a powdery look on your face and works really nicely. The only complaint I have is that I think it might have broken me out but I'm not 100% sure about this. I still use it under my eyes to fix concealer and it works fine there. Since I can't read Korean, I have no idea what this contains and whether it contains mineral oils, which clog up my pores. However, if you don't have a problem with mineral oils and such, I'd definitely recommend this powder. The packaging is cute, the lightest shade suits even cool, paler skin tones and the finish is really natural.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nails Inc - Elizabeth St
solai 5/30/2010 10:29:00 AM
Elizabeth St is a creamy pastel nude polish. It's more of a brownish hue rather thank a cool pink so I guess it suits warm skintones the best. My skin has a cool base hue and this looks fine on me but a cooler tone would be better. The packaging is neat, the brush easy to use and there's not too much polish (but not too little) so you can actually finish the polish before it starts thickening up. I really like Nails Inc polishes because the light shades go on without major streaking, stay on well and dry quite fast. This shade does streak a little but nothing totally unwearable like what I have experienced with other polishes (OPI, China Glaze) and the coats dry relatively quickly. The polish is very sheer so you get a nice, natural finish. You get the colour with two coats and the finish is clean but with ever so slight streaking if you look very close. Also, if you have any damage on your nails, it's going to show through this colour as it's very sheer especially with the first coat. I'd recommend Nails Inc for anyone who likes a streak-free finish with minimum drying time.

Sunscreen -Vichy - Capital Soleil Micro-Fluide Face SPF 30
solai 5/25/2010 2:21:00 PM
I feel that this sun screen protects quite well and is light to apply but it has a couple of down sides. 1) it balls up a lot especially if you use a moisturiser underneath 2) it does not leave a matte finish and feels a little greasy 3) it might have clogged my pores I'm not sure if it was this product that gave me zits, so I'm a little cautious on the third point. However, it doesn't leave the matte finish it promises although it's not as greasy and shiny as most sun screens tend to be. If you can't find anything else, this might do but it's not the best.
