Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula
sertasheeplover 3/18/2008 5:35:00 PM
I made the switch to MMU about a year ago. I was SUCH a skeptic. I mean how can a POWDER be a foundation and actually make my skin look good?? Boy was I wrong!!! Everyday minerals is such a great company. VERY reasonable pricing, great color selection, awesome Customer service, and their products rock!(shipping takes awhile since they come from Texas and Im up here in cold @ss Canada). I have tried original glo(not for me..see review) and the semi matte. S-m is gorgeous. I am a LLL and my skin is on the dry side. No problem with oil, or blotting, etc. That being said, this formulation is wonderful. I get great coverage(medium Id say) and my skin has a SLIGHTLY dewy finish. Seriously, my face looks close to flawless. The foundations are pretty forgiving in color. Ive the cool light colors up to the beige mediums. They just seem to work! They are finely milled, easy to use, but messy. I always seem to make a mess. My husband just shakes his head.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Original Glo Formula

My skin is dry/normal and I was very happy using the semi matte, but decided to try the original glo just because. Im not sold on it. I just find I look kinda shiny. The semi matte gives me a dewy glowing look, but this made me look more sparkly, and weird. I dont know how to describe it. My skin is pretty decent, but is uneven in tone. I found this formula just didnt cut it in even-ing me out. My pores were visible, i looked cousin to a disco ball, ..just not for me.
I remember my mom wearing this in the early 90's. I always loved it, but as a teen I was into sweet powdery fragrances. Now that im on the cusp of 30, my tastes have changed. Poison is my all time favorite perfume. I dont wear it in the summer(as its too overpowering in the heat) but that still leaves a lot of wear throughout the year. Im not good at describing scents, but there is a hint of grape or wine to it. Its a rich, dark, intoxication scent. So sexy. My husband cant decide if this or Pure White Linen is his favorite(2 totally diff smells..go figure). I get compliments on this all the time by men and women. Its fabulous.
Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)

I bought this at the online sephora store. I have been lemming this for ages and finally decided to get it. I need my eyeliner to stay put. So I go find it, see the picture, am like "oooooh". and wait for it to arrive. So this big box comes. Much coolness. Im SO excited( Im a junkie). Well imagine my suprise when I opem it to find, this teeny TINY bottle to which I paid $20.00CAD. Ummm,,,excuse me?? That picture on the site was deceiving. I thought I was getting something much bigger...arrrgh! Oh well...I should have read more carefully. BUt thats all behind me now becuase Ive used it. This stuff rox my sox. The purple genie bottle is cute, but quite inefficient at getting all the product out. This baby will be cut open to get all the leftover stuff soon. I have learned that a little goes a long way. My skin is on the dry side, no oily lids here. When I first applied it, I put on too much and found my lids looked dry and dehydrated. Not so cool. So now I put a little bit on my finger, blend it in, let it set for 30 sec, and be done. Much better, Since using this my eyeliner does NOT move(doing a booty dance) and my eyeshadow stays vibrant and set all day. HG is the only word for this product. I could rave all day. the only things I can complain about, and they are minor, are the price(boooooo) and that sometimes(not always) I find my eyeshadows a bit harder to blend. Other than that, Im on e happy camper. I would buy again and again bc it enhances my other makeup.
Ok So my mom bought me a cream eyeliner duo for christmas in 2005. Ladies, I still have it. Not b/c I hate it but because it lasts that freaking long. It hasnt dried out, hasnt turned some funky color, and is overall impressing me with its extreme awesomeness. My colors are ..well I have no idea. One is black(so Im assuming caviar) and the other is a brownish color, with almost a reddish burnt undertone. No idea whats its called. Although I loke them both, I prefer the brown one as its not quite as harsh. Application is easy. I "lost" my angled brush(godd@mn cats@!!!) so im using a lip brush at the moment. I swipe the color on the brush and away I go. The color sits nicely against my top lashes. It takes me one swipe to get a nice line of color. I will, on occasion, go over it a second time for a thicker line or richer pigment. Lasting power, not sure on its own. I always wear over UDPP, so it aint budging all day. I love these things! I will say that the color is not quite as bold as a liquid or kohl pencil. But, to me, liquids look soooooooooo flat and kohls, well they just run everywhere. These pots give a nice "alive" wash of color, and stay where they are supposed to. There is FINALLY a sephora store opening around here in about 3 weeks(Im going to need to get another job I think) and I will be perusing for more of these little gems.
Well Im kinda on the fence about this one. Is it as good as my lovely Diorshow? Hell no, but is it better, than say, great lash? Yes it is. Now, I know peeps are complaining about the size of the thing, but I happen to like it. That being said, it will be a bit of a schock if youre used to using the smaller regular size tubes. Pros; 1) nice rich color 2) no smearing or flaking 3) kinda cool looking, was easy to find in makeup bag 4) decent length and volume Cons 1) dried out pretty fast 2) had mild clumping issues 3) again, DECENT length and volume but nothing to write home about..i was expcting some VA-VOOM To sum it up....its a good d/s mascara. I might buy it again if I didnt have the money for a high end mascara, happened to be in a drug store and they were out of Voluminous. I was expecting more after all the hype. Just meh....
Shampoo -Suave - Naturals Tropical Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner
sertasheeplover 2/27/2008 8:28:00 PM
I admit it, I am a hair snob. I have been for most of my soon to be gone 20's.I have faithfully spent mucho bucks on hair products, and I have had fantastic hair b/c of it. However, tuition is due soon and I had to tighten the belt bit(well a lot). NOw some things I cant give up(like my FF glossing cream for one) but I decided to venture into the world of d/s shampoos and conditioners. My recent kick has been Biolage Volumizing shampoo, and the Biolage hydrating balm(HG). So I was not expecting anything close to that level of quality from anything I found at a grocery store. I stumbled upon this brand and couldnt resist. Im a sucker for anything coconut. Well would you imagine my suprise to find I actually liked it??!!! The smell is very very nice and I was suprised at how moisturizing it was. Particularly b/c the conditiner is much more runny than I am used to. I looked at it in my hand and was like, " Yeah right, like this is going to condition my hair" Well let me tell you ladies, my hair was soft, full, bouncy, and hydrated. While it will never replace in my heart, my one true love(Biolage*sniff* one day we will be reunited) its definitely found a place in my shower. I got both for 3.00 CAN. $3.00!!!! Man, I tell you what, my husband had a tear in his eye when I told him that. To sum it up, this is a great alternative to salon products. Good smell(not the longest lasting tho), good conditioning, awesome price. I highly recommend, and will buy again. EDIT************yeah well the love afair is OVER!! Much much too drying after a period of a couple weeks. The hunt begins again.....
Blush -Everyday Minerals - Chit Chat [DISCONTINUED]
sertasheeplover 2/21/2008 9:55:00 PM
I love this company and own many many products from them. I recently recieved this blush as part of a recent order( due to the reviews on MUA). When i opened it, I was horrified. I had no idea it was going to look like glitter exploded in the pan. I mean..whoa! So I let it sit for a couple days unused. Well today I finally bit the bullet and tried it. Its wonderful! First of all the shimmer is very subltle. I did NOT look like the disco ball I feared. Im a LLL and this was quite nice. I applied with a skunk brush(and a light hand) and I got a rosy " just in from the cold" glow on my cheeks. Fantastic. Ive always looked for that kind of color. I would say that of you are fair, take care to apply lightly as this could be overpowering. I recommend wholeheartedly.
This is an awesome product. I normally do not wear anything on lips as I find lipstick too drying, and glosses too sticky. BUt this is something else. Its more of a balm, and it very hydrating. My lips feel plump and smooth with it on. The color on my lips is a warm rose. Its absolutely gorgeous. Im a LLL with dark hair, and this INSTANTLY brightens my face, even if Its a "just wearing mascars day". Price cant be beat! LOVE EM...recommed highly.
Well I ordered this sight unseen(or smell unsmelled) from FragrancesX. I bought it based on all the lovely ladies here who took the time to review it. And thank you ladies! This is wonderful stuff. When I first spray it, I definitely detect the grapefruit. But it dries down nicely into ...um...im not good at perfume descriptions. It just reminds me of a crisp clean summer day. Its WONDERFUL. I was a little hesitant, as my taste are for heavier perfumes( a la Christian Dior Poison..which is my fave) and i dont care for citrus scents. But this is so beautiful. Lasting power is good, and only need 2 sprays or its overpowering. Already had quite a few compliments on it.
Moisturizers -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Vitamin C Renewal Facial Creme
sertasheeplover 2/13/2008 5:11:00 PM
I use this product (non SPF form) in conjunction with the vitamin C facial serum. This stuff ROX!! I have normal/dry skin. BUt in the winter my skin is VERY dry. I have used countlesss moisturizers, but they either dont quench my skin, or if they do, they sit on my face like grease. Not good. This stuff is wonderful. Its thick and smells vaguely of oranges. The smell disappears quickly. I put some in my hand, and watm it up mith my finger. AFter spreading it on my face, it takes about 5 mins to sink in completely. No stickiness, NO shine, just SOFT , velevty skin with no flaking(I cant believe it). My makeup just glides on my face. I recently had a cold and my nose was so red and peeling(ew). I put this stuff on my nose, and flakies gone. ALL DAY GONE. Unbelieveable. And on an even better note, no breakouts. If anything my skin is brighter, more even, and more toned looking. I cant say enough about it. Price is reasonable. $20.00 CAN. I can deal with that. Will rebuy again and again.
Conditioner -Regis - Design Line - Color Care Conditioner
sertasheeplover 2/11/2008 11:54:00 AM
This conditiner is OK. I color and highlight my hair, and while it is in pretty good condition, in the winter it dries out quite a bit. This conditioner is ok at moisturizing but i CANNOT stand the smell. I think its supposed to be some kind of cherry almond smell, but no way...This smells, I swear to God, just like the shampoo I wash my cat with. NOw, maybe thats saying something good about the cat shampoo, I dont know. Either way, the smell repulses me. I cannot finish the bottle. Eww
Concealers -Cover Girl - fresh complexion concealer
sertasheeplover 2/5/2008 1:00:00 PM
I love this concealer! I have it in creamy natural, and its a perfect match. I donty have undereye circles, so I use it to cover some red marks left after a blemish, and the occasional spot I get. I put some on the spot, then tap it with my finger to blend. It covers flawlessly, and after I apply my foundation, it looks as if I have perfect skin(oh how I wish that was true) Price was great, about 6 bucks CAN. I would buy again, and again.
Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Continuous Control Acne Cleaner
sertasheeplover 2/1/2008 9:14:00 PM
I love this product. It has been the only product that has worked for me. I find msot cleansers have salicylic acid in them, and it just has no effect for me. This past year my skin has decided to be unruly, and break out on my chin. Well, I picked this beauty up from the drugstore and one week later, my skin is clear and not a spot to be found. *booty shake* I use it once a day, as my skin is dry, and have had no flaking, or redness develop. I love this cleanser and will repurchase as long as I need to.
This is the nest kabuki I have come across. I ended up choosing this one based on its reviews here(thank you MUA!) The brush feels like air on the face. Makeup goes on beautifully and smooth. Ive had mine for abuot four months now, and now a single hair has shed. After washing it, the shape came back to its original form, and again, no hairs lost. I think I paid $30.00 for it. Well worth my money. Should I ever lose it, or it becomes destroyed, I will repurchase it absolutely.
