Mascara -Neutrogena - Lash Tint [DISCONTINUED]

I am truly surprised that anyone would buy this again. I have light lashes, but this did NOTHING for them. No darkening, nothing. I know it's not supposed to add volume or length, but it is supposed to tint (ah - hence the name) and it did not do that either. I am a big fan of Neutrogena products in general but this is useless. A total disappointment. EDIT: I have to edit this to say that I must have got a really bad tube the first time I tried this, because it did nothing. However, I have since tried other tubes and I must admit that it does make a difference to my lashes (albeit a very, very subtle darkening).

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete All Day Moisturizer with sunscreen Sensitive Skin SPF15 (classic gentle formula)
rated 5 of 5

This is one of the few lotions with sunscreen that I can stand to put on my face everyday. The texture is fantastic - light, not greasy, but moisturizing. No scent, which is a plus. I love how it makes my skin look and feel. My only concern is whether the sunscreen is really effective or not. I feel good about wearing it but I wonder whether the SPF 15 is really doing anything to protect my skin.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Hydraphase UV SPF 30
rated 3 of 5

Hmmmm. I am kind of ambivalent on this one. I bought it because it has Mexoryl and is supposed to be a daily lotion (rather than a heavy sunscreen cream). The texture is nice during application; it's like a runny lotion, but on my face it is quite shiny and almost sticky. It takes a while to absorb. I tried using mineral powder foundation (Bare Escentuals) over this and it's quite disastrous - the stickiness of the lotion combined with the powder was just gross. I will probably continue to wear it as often as I can stand it, just because of the SPF, but I have to say I don't like the way it makes my skin look. It is by no means a holy grail product, just a decent lotion with mexoryl.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Enzyme Cleansing Gel
rated 4 of 5

I really like the few Mario Badescu products that I've tried. They seem to be no-nonsense, get the job done products. A few words about me and facial cleansers: I loathe nothing more than feeling like there's residue left after washing my face. That's why I often use soap to wash my face, but I worry that that's too drying. Enzyme Cleansing Gel cleans my face without drying it, and it actually washes off clean and feels like there's nothing left on my face. I haven't experienced any breakouts caused by this product. I won't say I love it but I like it a lot.

Moisturizers -Olay - Total Effects-Fragrance Free
rated 3 of 5

Like the reviewer before me, this left a white cast on my skin and did not absorb well immediately. I only use it at night, so it's not a big problem for me, but if you wanted to use it during the day I would not recommend this cream. Also, I found the texture to be quite thick and sticky, and therefore hard to rub smoothly on my face. I always feel that I am damaging my skin by tugging and pulling at it when I put on face cream. From the pump dispenser I thought this would be more of a lotion, but it's thick. As for the effect, my skin is the same as before I started using it - no better, no worse, except for maybe a couple of small breakouts that I attribute to using new products. Not great, but not the worst, either.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Sun Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5

I am on my second pan of Sun. It was the first Stila shadow I ever bought, and I thought for a while that I liked it for sentimental reasons, but when I ran out of the first pan I realized how much I really do like it. It's a gorgeous shimmery peach that is not too orange and not too pink. It works really well as a base for many other shades (browns, greens, Jezebel) and it also looks great on its own with mascara and a bit of brown liner. Perfect.

Styling Products -Pantene - Thickening Spray
rated 3 of 5

This really does work. My fine hair seemed thicker even after using just a little bit of this spray. The smell was not really noticeable (a plus in my books). The only downside was that when I sprayed it close to the roots, as per the directions, it kind of made my hair a bit crunchy in that area, but that problem was solved by combing through the crunchiness. Overall, a good product, especially considering the price (less than $4 at Target).

Lipstick -Stila - Lipstick in Kate
rated 3 of 5
rhody 2/14/2006 10:40:00 AM

Kate is a matte, medium pinky-brown shade. The colour is very nice but I find the texture to be a bit too thick and dry. I really have to put balm on before putting this on, otherwise it looks dry and cakey. The colour is very nice and natural though.

Cleansers -Dr. Hauschka - Cleansing Cream
rated 2 of 5

I was so excited about this after reading the reviews, but I have to say that I was horribly disappointed. After using it, I had the urge to wash my face (not a good sign after cleansing) and my face IMMEDIATELY broke out and was itchy. It will be going back to the store right away. I have to say also that I think pressing and rolling this into your face twice a day, for three minutes, is really excessive, and makes me wonder if all that tugging on your skin could cause wrinkles.
