Eye Shadow -MAC - shimmermoss (Veluxe pearl)
rated 3 of 5
paneradfisk 6/23/2012 4:01:00 PM

I'm not sure about this. The eyeshadow itself has decent pigmentation, but compared to other eyeshadows in practically the same colour, it's really not that good. I love the colour but it takes 3 layers to get good colour pay off. This is almost IDENTICAL to Steamy, except Steamy is a tad darker and does everything Shimmermoss should, trust me. Steamy is so much more pigmented, get it instead of this.
I have uploaded a picture in the gallery of this product, where you can see Shimmermoss next to Steamy.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Doll Lashes
rated 2 of 5
paneradfisk 5/25/2012 10:47:00 PM

Packaging; Plastic and feels light when you hold it. Looks very cute and fancy, it has grey rose prints on it, unlike Lancôme 's other mascaras. On one side of the cap it says HYPNÔSE in silver, with a silver rose next to it. Under that it says Doll Eyes in Italic style. On the other side of the cap it says LANCÔME in silver. The tube is 13,5 cm long (5.3 inches).
Brush; The brush is 2,5 cm long (1 inch). It is triangle shaped, like a Christmas tree, thicker at the bottom and thinner at the end. At the bottom it is 1 cm wide (0.4 inch) and at the end it's about 0,4 cm wide (0.2 inch). Personally I think it picks up a normal amount of product, all you have to do is wipe of the excess at the tip, like you have to do with all mascaras. It has the same round shape all around, except it getting thinner at the end, it doesn't have a flat side like many other mascaras do.
Product and personal opinion; Keep in mind that the quality of a mascara is always a combination of product and brush, and if you like it or not usually depends on the shape of your lashes and skin type. I have tried many other mascaras by Lancôme that work much better on me than this. This is probably the worst of them, though it works OKAY. It feels drier than normal, but not too dry. On me it smudges under my eyes, so it's certainly not waterproof. It doesn't give volume, but lengthens a bit. Doesn't curl much.
The mascara also has a strong scent of roses, which is ridicilous since it can only cause problems and no good - you can't feel the smell on your eyes anyway, it can only irritate sensitive eyes. It's the only scented mascara I have ever come across, and it is really unnecessary.
Conclusion and advice; For me and my eyes this was a waste of money. It costs alot of money. If you happen to love this mascara but think it's too much money, L´Oréal has a mascara with a very similar brush, called Lash Architect 4D Mascara. It's much cheaper and works the same on me.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lumene - Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips
rated 2 of 5
paneradfisk 5/25/2012 7:28:00 PM

I like the bottle, the hole is small so you can pour out exactly how much you want, and you don't have to be careful. Many other bottles have too large holes so you have to hold the makeup pad against it in order not to spill. It removes all makeup very easily, I was surprised how fast and easy it removed everything. However this burns like acid in your eyes. I started crying and had to wash my eyes with water for 10 minutes for the burning to go away! Why even name it "Sensitive" when it makes you want to pull your eyes out?
Conclusion; Cheap. Good bottle. Removes makeup like a dream but burns your eyes like nothing else.

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Skin
rated 2 of 5
paneradfisk 5/24/2012 9:25:00 PM

Packaging; This is a hard plastic bottle with a pump. The bottle is black so you cannot tell how much is left, and you don't know when you're starting to run out, until you actually run out. You can't squeeze out the last of the product, since the bottle is hard.
Texture; It has silicones it in, which is USUALLY good for filling in lines and pores but can also clog pores. This doesn't do a good job on that. It doesn't feel runny, and won't drip or anything like that, and doesn't feel heavy or thick once applied to your face. It looks white and shimmery, but when you smooth it out over your face it's clear. Smells a little bit like Smashbox primer, maybe because of the similar ingredients?
Product; Once you apply it your face feels smooth and not greasy. This DOESN'T help with creasing around the mouth, nose or anything. My foundation still creases, and I have tried several (Shiseido, MAC, Lancome, Bobbi Brown foundations) with this primer. It DOES help with keeping your foundation on for a little bit longer than it would without primer, but it certainly doesn't last all day, so it's nothing spectacular.
Conclusion; For the price it's certainly not worth it. It could work if it was cheaper than 15 dollars but it's 34. For around that price you can get much better primers like Smashbox Photo Finish primer or Clarins Instant Smooth primer, and one that is truly amazing for a low price is Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer. I can't recommend MAC Prep + Prime to anyone.

Blush -MAC - Harmony
rated 5 of 5
paneradfisk 5/8/2012 7:52:00 PM

This is very good for blush and contouring even for pale skin, but will suit everyone as dark as NC30 or such. It is very buildable and can give you a very subtle effect or a darker, more defined look. It's definitely not too terracotta/orange like many blushes and bronze powder can be - this doesn't really make you look tan, it's good for shaping your face. It's greyish brown, and looks like a shadow, not an orange. Definitely worth the price, considering how long it will last. The best brush to use this with is the 109 or 168 brush by MAC.

Eye Shadow -Make Up Store - Microshadow (all shades)
rated 5 of 5
paneradfisk 5/5/2012 4:56:00 PM

Packaging: Looks minimalistic like MAC's eyeshadow pots. It is awful, you cannot see through the lid as it is black with a tiny transparent "M" that is not enough for seeing what colour you are holding. You have to open it or read at the bottom to know what colour it is. The lid comes off very easily - annoying. You can put it back without problems though.
Size/Price: This contains 3.5 grams (0.12 oz) and costs 11 pounds in the UK, compared to MAC's eyeshadows with 1.5 grams (0.05 oz) for 12 pounds - you get alot more product with Make Up Store than with MAC if you live in the UK. In the US an eyeshadow by Make Up Store costs 20 dollars compared to MAC's eyeshadows for 15 dollars - you still get more than the double amount of product with Make Up Store, though.
Product: The have both glittery, matte and some shimmery eyeshadows. It's hard to find good matte shadows but Make Up Store has succeeded. The pigmentation of most of their eyeshadows is very good, and I think they are more trusthworthy in terms of quality of their eyeshadows - MAC's eyeshadow shades differ very much in quality.
Recommendations: If you're going to get your first neutral eyeshadows, I have some favorites; Smog - matte greyish light brown with excellent pigmentation - builable and can look darker than in the pan. (Dupe for MAC Wedge) Kakaw - matte dark chocolate brown, very buildable and can look very dark brown. (Dupe for MAC Espresso) Nightfall - matte black eyeshadow, very good pigmentation. (Dupe for MAC Carbon) Muffin - white/cream shimmery eyeshadow (Dupe for MAC Nylon)
Some good colourful eyeshadows to start with: Aquarius - shimmery/glittery blue (Dupe for MAC Freshwater) Lemon - matte yellow (Dupe for MAC Chrome Yellow) Variete - deep blue shimmer eyeshadow (Dupe for MAC Deep Truth) City jungle - gorgeous shimmery teal, more green than blue. (Dupe for Newly Minted except this one is shimmery and not matte)
I'm not associated in any way, just want to help people find this awesome brands' eyeshadows.
5/5, would give 4.5/5 if I could because of the awful packaging and lids.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
rated 4 of 5
paneradfisk 5/3/2012 8:31:00 PM

Packaging: The one I have comes in a clear, plastic tube and it's easy to squeeze out the amount you need, and no product will be wasted as you can get everything out, and you can see how much is left. The cap is a screw cap so it won't leak.
Formula: It's made of silicone, so it is thick at first but feels thinner after you rub it between your palms. Feels slippery and smooth. It's easy to spread over your face and it won't feel thick or nasty. It can feel a little greasy after you applied it on oily skin, but for dry skin it's great. It doesn't have any particular smell and it has no colour, it is like a clear silky gel.
Price: This is very expensive but lasts quite a while as you don't need much each time. For me it lasts 6 month.
Personal opinion: This is the only primer that prevents foundation from creasing around my chin, mouth, nose and under eyes. I love the silky smooth feel of it, and my makeup stays on all day until I take it off. Using other primers like MAC Prep + Prime my foundation creases and fades during the day. It is expensive, but worth it considering it's the only primer that works for me.
Advice: Get a sample or travel size. The full size is expensive and if you happen to dislike it, it wouldn't be a huge loss if you got the travel size.
4/5, would get 5 if it costed less.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
rated 5 of 5
paneradfisk 5/3/2012 4:11:00 PM

EDIT 2013-03-26: It has now been one year since this review, and my brush is still going strong. No bristles are falling off, still like new. :) ~
Size/Quality of bristles: This is the perfect size for me. The bristles are 4 cm (1.6 inches) and is like a bigger version of the 188. Mine doesn't shed every brush is hand made and some can be poorly made.
Usage: This is good for applying foundation all over the face and neck, the 188 will work too but with this it takes less time and work. It's not as easy to get into corners around the nose and eyes, the 188 or 130 is better for that, but it's not a must to get those two. It can be used to apply powder, cream and powder blush and highlighter too.
Personal opinion: I can't use any other brush without the foundation streaking. Flat brushes, kabuki brushes, everything makes it streaky except sponges, and sponges are dirty, expensive and eats up all the foundation. This brush makes you use much less foundation.
Advice: The best way to use it, according to me, is to dip it in foundation (not too much at a time), dab it on your skin, then swirl - but don't press the brush against your skin, it should barely touch your skin.
5/5, it is expensive but you will never have to repurchase it if you take care of it!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 1 of 5
paneradfisk 5/3/2012 4:04:00 PM

Packaging: Very small, ugly, plastic and cheap.
Product: All mascaras quality is a combination of brush and formula. The brush is small and standard, like those big packs of mascara brushes you can buy at some beauty stores. The formula is very wet and weird. Will smudge. Won't give any length, volume or separation.
Price: This is very cheap, but not even good enough to be worth the price. There are mascaras with more product in them and that are so much better, for just a little bit more money than this.
Personal opinion: It makes you look like you have 3 thick lashes, and makes you want to tear your eyes out! It just sucks in every way possible.
1/5

Treatments (Eye) -Clinique - All About Eyes
rated 3 of 5
paneradfisk 5/3/2012 3:48:00 PM

Packaging: Cute jar, feels heavy and expensive, but feels unhygienic as you have to dip your fingers in it, and every time you screw the lid off, you expose the cream to air, which is bad.
Product: Not too thick. The colour is kind of light yellow/vanilla and it doesn't smell anything. Feels smooth and velvety, and when you put it on your under eye skin feels smooth and nice. The nice feeling goes away after a while and this doesn't do anything in the long run. No real hydration, and of course it doesn't make dark circles or wrinkles go away. Doesn't sting my eyes, but I've never had any problems with stinging.
Personal opinion: I don't think any eye cream makes any real difference, except hydration - that's what face creams are for, and you can use your face cream under your eyes as long as it's not too heavy or thick. This doesn't hydrate, it just gives you a nice smooth feeling for a few moments.
3/5, I would give it a 2 since it doesn't make my under eye skin better in any way - but I give it a 3 since there are worse eye creams that sting your eyes.

Highlighters -Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Eclat No 1
rated 2 of 5
paneradfisk 5/2/2012 6:29:00 PM

Packaging: Looks and feels very expensive. The applicator brush makes you waste alot of product, is unhygienic and is not good for applying the product. It has kind of a button on the bottom that you click to get product out through the applicator - the first time you use it you will have to click alot before something comes out. The applicator is about 1 cm (0.4 inches) and is like a brush made of plastic bristles, pretty dense, and will make the product look streaky on your skin.
Product: This is not a concealer, this is a highlighter, only use it under your eyes to brighten them if you don't have dark cirkles. You can use it on your cheekbones and nose too. Don't use it on blemishes, this is not a concealer, and you don't want to highlight blemishes. It is liquidy, dries fast, so you will have to blend it out quickly, preferably with a different brush that doesn't make it streaky. If you already have dry skin under your eyes, this will accentuate them, but otherwise it won't look cakey.
Advice: Click a few times and put the product on your hand, and use your fingers or a different brush to apply it under your eyes or where you want it.
2/5, doesn't do enough for me to be worth the price, wastes alot of product and is unhygienic.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Chrome Yellow eye shadow
rated 2 of 5
paneradfisk 5/2/2012 1:24:00 AM

Price: The prices for MAC products in Sweden are 75% higher than in the US, which means I have even higher expectations.
Product: I think it has great colour payoff but looks a little chalky and dry. The colour turns darker when you try to blend it and it's a bit hard to blend evenly.
Advice: Get the eyeshadow Lemon by MakeUpStore or Buttercupcake by Sugarpill instead of Chrome Yellow, both have more product for less money, and none of them look chalky or dry, and have great colour payoff.

Makeup Brushes -Make Up Store - #109 Blending Brush Small
rated 2 of 5
paneradfisk 5/1/2012 6:16:00 PM

I like the size and shape of this, it's kind of like Clinique's Eye Contour brush, only that this one is scratchy. It works, but it irritates my skin, because it's not soft at all.

Lipstick -Make Up Store - Lipstick (all shades)
rated 2 of 5
paneradfisk 5/1/2012 4:35:00 PM

Packaging: Feels light in the hand, plastic and cheap. The lipstick itself SNAPPED after the first use! Very bad!
Product: Good colour payoff but makes your lips look and feel very tacky and dry. It clings to your lips and doesn't go away too soon, but it doesn't look good when it's going away - though it doesn't look good when freshly applied either. Too soft and creamy yet drying, breaks in the tube so you have to use a lip brush if you want to use it.

Eye Primer -Make Up Store - Eyeprimer Clear
rated 1 of 5
paneradfisk 5/1/2012 4:27:00 PM

This doesn't make the eyeshadows brighter, doesn't do anything for creasing, doesn't make the eyeshadows last longer. It never fully dries, it feels like it's transforming into a thicker paste and can be rubbed of easily, just by pressing eyeshadow on the lid. It feels uneven, not clumpy but uneven, too. Only good thing is the tube it comes in.
