Gels/Soaps -Crabtree & Evelyn - Rosewater & Cold Cream Soap
mschumps 6/22/2010 1:57:00 PM
I love this soap! I actually use it on my face as a cleanser, and it does a good job taking off my makeup. The big plus is that it doesn't dry out my face or make me break out - and it smells fantastic.

Fragrances -Crabtree & Evelyn - Lily of the Valley

I bought this a while ago as a scent for my wedding day. It's very floral and feminine, but very sweet. For every day wear, I find it quite strong, so you only need a little bit. Fragrance lasts for a good while.

Skincare - Body -Crabtree & Evelyn - Naturals Botanical and Mineral Body Mist - Verbena and Sage
mschumps 6/22/2010 1:53:00 PM
I absolutely love this scent. I use it as a body spray since I find perfumes to be too strong. I spritz it all over after a shower, and it has such an energizing, clean scent that lingers for most of the day. I'm not sure how much this costs at regular price; I got at a U.S. outlet store, where they were selling this for like $3. I'm not sure if I would buy it for reg price, but if I'm desperate enough for the scent, I might. ;p.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter - Brazil Nut
mschumps 6/22/2010 1:48:00 PM
I love this body butter! I love that it smells sweet and creamy, like a dessert. If you don't want to smell like a cake or chocolate, then you probably won't like this. However, the texture is lovely and does a great job moisturizing and protecting my skin from harsh Canadian winters. Though, now that I live on the West coast (instead of the drier East), I find that this cream is a bit heavy for the wetter climate. The only thing I don't like about the Body Shop is that their creams have parabens in them.

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Cleansing Cream
mschumps 6/22/2010 1:43:00 PM
I re-purchased this cleanser after first trying it out in 2001. Back then, my skin didn't break out as easily, but now, this cleanser doesn't feel like it cleans anything. It's cream-based, and leaves a residue on my skin. It also makes me break out. I have combination skin, so it's probably too oily for me - and doesn't take off my make-up. As for the smell, I actually really like it. It's a bit like a rosey-powdery scent. I think I bought it again because the first time, I had taken it to my Europe backpacking trip, and the smell brings me back to fond memories!

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Protective SPF 15 Moisture Lotion
mschumps 6/22/2010 1:37:00 PM
I got this to try as my day cream, as it had spf 15. Unfortunately, I found it too oily for my combination skin. It made me break out, so I had to give it away.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15
mschumps 6/22/2010 1:35:00 PM
The product itself is okay. It takes a bit of rubbing to get on the lips, as the formula is quite thick. I really dislike the smell of it. Kind of smells like wax and chemicals.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream
mschumps 6/22/2010 1:34:00 PM
Though I dislike the other products in this line (the cream cleanser, toner and day cream), I found this night cream very nice. It's quite thick, but goes on with a nice, whipped texture. I have dry spots on my cheeks and around the eyes, so I use this in those areas, but avoid the T-zone, where I tend to break out. The other products in this line made me break out, but this one worked really well to keep my skin dewy until morning. Only one con is that it's pretty expensive. I've switched to JASON's more natural vitamin E cream (in the jar) and found this a great alternative. ($10 Cdn at London Drugs vs $20 at BS)

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Body Butter

LOVE this cream! It's thick, but it absorbs nicely without leaving a greasy feeling. I use it on my pregnant belly for stretch marks. Now in my 3rd trimester, I haven't experienced any itching from the stretched-out skin, as I've been applying this cream nightly. Got it on sale for half off ($10 CDN), which is pretty great, considering it's got shea butter, vitamin E and other nice ingredients in it.

Eye Makeup Remover -Sephora - FACE Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
mschumps 6/20/2010 12:13:00 PM
This is an okay product. It's certainly better than the drugstore eye-makeup removers This is supposed to be for waterproof makeup, but I find it takes too many swipes and lots of remover to get all my non-waterproof mascara off. It certainly works better than the drugstore brands I've used (Rimmel, Maybelline). I think it's because it has the 2-part solution you have to mix. Right now, I'm not sure if it's just allergy season, but I'm finding that the product makes my eyes hot and itchy after using. At $13 a bottle, this isn't a terrific or terrible product; just average. It works for me at the moment, but when I run out, I may try the L'Oreal one. UPDATE: Just bought the Equate version of the Neutrogena remover (has two liquid parts to it) and this beats Sephora's hands down. It's also loads cheaper.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
mschumps 6/17/2010 12:12:00 PM
Asian lash review, or those with short, downward pointing lashes. I've been looking for a non-waterproof mascara that can hold curl and give some volume, and I was quite happy with this one. It doesn't give the impression of false lashes, but because of the claim that it would give a more dramatic look, I wanted to see if it could at least give me a good curl hold. I'm happy to say that it kept my eyelashes curled nicely (most non-waterproofs take the curl right out after using the curler). It gives me some volume, but not much length. However, it still doesn't get the length and crazy curl I get with Maybelline's PRO Intense vol + length waterproof (blue and white tube, discontinued, I think), but it's keeps the curl better than the other non-waterproofs I have (Full 'N Soft, Define-A-Lash, PRO Curl). The brush is bigger than I expected. It's slightly spoon-shaped, and slightly flatter on one end. I actually quite like this design. The brush fibres help to separate and lift my lashes and the formula goes on easily. Some people say it's too wet, but I think it applies smoothly. Just follow the directions (don't let it dry between coats) and it won't clump much at all. One thing I don't love is the packaging. Like Colossal and the other volume-promising mascaras, the tube is fat - like it wants us to think it can make our lashes big, too. Meh. Overall, a good mascara if you're looking for more lift. Not so good if you're looking for the true false eye-lash look.

Lipstick -The Body Shop - Sheer Lipstick - 08 Sheer Peach
mschumps 6/9/2010 5:00:00 PM
Great, sheer lipstick with a light, berry scent. I love that it has a light, peach colour and pigmentation is pretty good. It doesn't last as long as I'd like and when it does fade, it leaves behind some sparkles. I picked this up as part of a buy 3 for $10 sale over the weekend, so for the price, this was a steal. Edit: After using this for 2 weeks, I'm finding that the lasting power just isn't that great, so I took a lippie off. I also don't like that after the lipstick fades, it leaves big, colourless hunks of sparkle behind. Still, it was cheap, but I wouldn't pay full price for this.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Ombra - Roll-on Mild deodorant (Camomile)
mschumps 5/27/2010 4:31:00 PM
This is the only deodorant I'll use now - and have been for two years. It's aluminum-free and doesn't block you from sweating (that's a good thing!) It's not an anti-perspirant so it's not supposed to keep you from sweating. I don't have very strong BO to begin with, but I definitely get it during unpredictable moments and this stuff helps. This deo smells great, dries quickly, and makes my armpits smell nice. It usually lasts all day. I'll reapply if I'm going out at night.

Polishes -Revlon - Kiss Me Coral
mschumps 5/27/2010 12:18:00 PM
Pretty coral-orangey-gold colour. It goes on quite pinky-gold with one coat. Two coats, and it looks more tangerine. Definitely a fun colour for the beach. I have yellow undertones in my skin and wouldn't have thought this would look good on me, but the gold in the polish seems to complement my skintone well. EDIT: Taken a lippie off due to the polish cracking off soon after application.
