Cleansers -Ponds - Clean Sweep Cleansing and Makeup Remover Towelettes
moshoy 1/5/2008 6:28:00 PM
I have been using these for quite some time now, and I recently took the advice from some of the reviews on here and purchased the Equate (Wal-mart) brand of these. I have to say though, that I much prefer the Ponds brand. Sorry! I found the Equate brand to be too greasy for my oily, acne-prone (sensitive) skin. Love these towelettes! EDIT: (5-4-09): I had to stop using these about five months ago because they made me break out every time I used them. I switched to a liquid cleanser and it has helped tremendously.

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
moshoy 8/4/2007 1:06:00 AM
I purchased this in Soft Ivory a couple of weeks ago and finally tried it last week. I had been wearing EL's Double Wear off and on for about 8 months. But being in the south in the summer, the last thing you want is heavy makeup! So, I tried the Bare Naturale right before heading outside with my kids. It took all of about 3 minutes to "put my face on"! I really do like this stuff. I guess my complaints are that (1) the brush is horrible!! Way too scratchy! And (2) I'm kind of in between colors I guess. Soft Ivory is actually too light, and Light Ivory is too orangey for me. So, I've been sort of mixing the two together and it works! UPDATE: I have stopped using this product and my skin is clearing up. Ok, so now I have to give the lowdown on what I hated about the L'Oreal Bare Minerals... First, it's a mess! I tried so hard to keep it from getting everywhere. I would even tap it (to get the powder to the top) with the lid still on, but that didn't even help! I am still cleaning this mess off of the light fixtures in my bathroom, off the counters and around the sink, and even the caulking around the sink and around the countertops! It's a mess! Also, it was expensive to have to buy 2 colors just to get something that looked decent on my face. The lightest color was too light, and the next lightest color was too dark. But the biggest complaint I had by far with this product was that my skin was starting to break out everyday... sometimes a few small zits, sometimes cysts, but everyday! I really do believe it has something to do with the talc, maybe even other ingredients... EDIT #2 (5-13-08): For some reason, I actually purchased this AGAIN this week because I was in a pinch and needed some makeup, and I hate the feeling of liquid foundations on my skin. Well, my skin was so nice and clear, and now, of course, it's breaking out again!!! I can't stand L'Oreal foundations!! Overpriced junk!!!!! EDIT #3 (8-31-08): I know, I know... Why do I keep trying with this one? UGH!! I wish I could give this ZERO lippies! I agree that they have changed this formula. Soft Ivory, which used to actually be a little too pale for me, but covered everything, is now ORANGE, ORANGE, ORANGE, and covers nothing. I actually stood in front of the mirror this morning just staring because I had just brushed orange makeup on my face and my blemishes stood out even more! OK, ladies, this was it. I believe I've finally learned my lesson with this awful makeup. Excuse me while I spend the rest of the night cleaning this junk off my mirrors and light fixtures (AGAIN!). Horrible, horrible product.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara Waterproof
moshoy 8/4/2007 12:38:00 AM
I recently purchased this product because it was a combo deal- the regular and waterproof for $3.79. I thought, why not? Wrong!! My eyes have been itching like crazy the past couple of days. The mascara feels very scratchy when you put it on, and I didn't really notice a difference after applying it. My eyes are now red and puffy from all the rubbing, so I've tossed these two products in the trash! (By the way, the reason I wrote the review for the waterproof is that the severe itching occurred the same afternoon that I applied the waterproof, but they're equally horrible!).

Scrubs -St. Ives - St. Ives Gentle Apricot Scrub
moshoy 7/6/2007 1:41:00 AM
I wish that I had read the previous review on this product before purchasing... I bought this to use as a cleanser/scrub in the morning, thinking it would help exfoliate my skin, thus keeping it clear... WRONG!! After using this product for a week now, I have cystic acne-- on the side of my nose (on my cheek) and on my chin!! I am also getting these weird red pimples that just seem to stick around! For reference, I have sensitive, fair skin with rosacea (that can be acne-prone when I use the wrong products!!!). I am now desperately trying to heal the horrible breakouts that this product has caused!

Liquid -American Beauty - Perfectly Even Natural Finish Foundation
moshoy 11/15/2006 12:50:00 AM
I decided to try this foundation based on all of the rave reviews on here. I purchased the fair/cool foundation. (I spent half an hour in the store trying to decide between the fair/warm and fair/cool. Fair/warm was just way too yellow, and the fair/cool seemed to blend better on the side of my face and neck). Just goes to show that you really can't properly choose a foundation under those fluorescent lights! Anyway, I was getting ready for school, and decided to give it a try. I applied my moisturizer first (always!), and then put this foundation on my forehead and around my eyes. That's about as far as I got! Not only was I spreading orange makeup on my face, but it was shiny and did not cover a thing. I immediately washed my face and had to put my old makeup on (which I hate! Hence the reason I tried this one!). I have very fair skin with rosacea and some acne scars. By the way, I should point out that the packaging for this product is absolutely horrible! A glass bottle? Really? I was trying to be so careful with it in case I had to return it. I really wanted this to work, but I just refuse to wear sheer orange makeup...

Liquid -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Foundation
moshoy 9/1/2006 12:21:00 PM
I haven't had any luck with the Mary Kay foundations (creme-to-powder, medium coverage, full-coverage), had major breakouts from Clinique, and reactions to Chanel and L'Oreal (see reviews)... so I decided to give this one a try because I've heard so much about mineral makeup lately. For reference, I have pale, sensitive skin, rosacea, and have breakouts when using the wrong products. I tried the Mineral Wear liquid foundation in Classic Ivory. I've noticed people on here saying that they looked "deathly pale" with the Classic Ivory, but I seemed to have the opposite problem... it was way too orange and dark on me! Like I said, I have very pale skin. I wore this all day to school the other day and I could not stand it! Not only did I have an orange mask, but my face was so greasy! I had to go to the bathroom and blot before and after every class! (And I don't have oily skin!). I was counting the hours and minutes before I could go home and wash this stuff off my face! I noticed that with each day I wore it, I would get whiteheads around my chin. I stopped using it 2 days ago, and voila! they went away. I am now using Merle Norman foundation. UPDATE: PLEASE SEE REVIEW FOR PHYSICIANS FORMULA TALC-FREE MINERAL LOOSE POWDER MAKEUP!!

Liquid -Chanel - Teint Fluide Universel [DISCONTINUED]
moshoy 7/1/2006 5:27:00 PM
Ok, I should have listened to you "fruchttasche"! I wanted to try a sample of this makeup because I was worried about having another allergic reaction... (see Clinique Soft Balanced makeup review). I was told by the Chanel sales lady that Chanel does not carry samples of makeup. So, she tried this on me in the store--- color was 0.5 Nude-(Limpide). It looked all right in the store, but of course I'm used to a medium/full coverage foundation because I have rosacea and some acne scars. After a day or two of using it, I realized it just wasn't enough coverage for me. But the worst part was, as some reviewers have already mentioned, I started noticing a new red bump each day I wore it. They weren't whiteheads, not even cysts, but red bumps that wouldn't go away and in fact, kept multiplying on my cheeks. So, I returned it. I am a college student and I can't just swallow 50 bucks like that! I believe that was my limit on what I'm willing to spend for foundation. Still searching....

Liquid -Clinique - Soft Finish Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
moshoy 6/19/2006 12:51:00 AM
I went to the Clinique counter last week because I was in desperate need of a foundation--- I just couldn't use the Mary Kay full-coverage another day. So, the sales lady talked me into this one. For reference, I have extremely pale, sensitive, (can be acne-prone) skin with rosacea. All I have to say is--- To All Ladies With Acne-Prone And/Or Sensitive Skin--- DO NOT PURCHASE this product!!! Not only was the color wrong... Soft Linen, which looked way too dark once I wore it the next day, (also pretty orange-looking), but it broke me out terribly! I actually had clear skin when I went in to buy this, and now I am sad to report that I have monstrous zits on my chin and pimples all over my forehead and cheeks! I have 3 painful cysts on my chin, and it hurts to wash my face. I have only been using this for 5 days and my skin looks awful! I don't even want to leave the house because my skin looks so bad! Please stay FAR away from this makeup if your skin is sensitive and/or acne-prone!!! I am returning it tomorrow to get my 21 bucks back!

Liquid -Mary Kay - Full coverage foundation [DISCONTINUED]
moshoy 6/14/2006 12:16:00 AM
The reason I purchased this foundation is that my sister sells Mary Kay. I've tried them all... creme-to-powder, medium coverage, and now full coverage. Well, ok, I gave it 2 lippies because (1) the packaging- very hygienic, and (2) the color- Ivory 104, a good match for my very pale skin. However, as one review pointed out... this stuff really IS like spreading molasses on your face. It's that thick. A couple of weeks ago, I even started using a sunscreen (which is pretty moisturizing) underneath to help it spread. This was definitely Not a good look. I have rosacea, pale, combination, sensitive skin, that can be acne-prone with the wrong products. The combination of sunscreen (moisturizer) and full-coverage foundation was just way too much. It's too heavy for the hot humid, summer days in the south. I went to the Clinique counter tonight and I am now trying the Soft Finish makeup in Soft Linen... I'll let you know. If any of you have suggestions for foundation for my skin type, I'm listening!

Liquid -L'Oreal - infallible never fail makeup
moshoy 5/7/2006 6:55:00 PM
I was so excited when I first purchased this product because it is difficult for me to find a foundation that matches my pale skin. So, I tried the Infallible in Classic Ivory. The first day I thought that maybe I had applied too much, because my face was so greasy after just a couple of hours.(By the way,I had applied a matte powder on top to set). So, I experimented with using less and still got the same results. By the end of the day, this makeup was so oily and greasy I just couldn't wait to go wash my face! The only positive thing I can say about this foundation is I like the pump dispenser and the choice of colors for pale skin. But that really doesn't offset the fact that I look like I'm wearing a greasy mask within a couple of hours!!! I will also add that this makeup is now breaking me out.... My advice is step away from the Infallible.
