Self Tanners -Fake Bake - The Face Self-Tanning Lotion
marticica888 2/27/2010 12:12:00 AM
Awful! I dont get why this product has such good reviews! This does nothing to tan my face.. it just stains my pillow and in the morning when i wash my face its like i never put it on. It also feels so weird on my skin, tight but not quite dry. If i put another layer it feels even worse. Blech. and the packaging is awful. After first couple uses, good luck getting it out of there. A squeeze tube would have been MUCH more practical. Oh and its also very expensive for the 2oz that you get. But why do i care, i returned it and wont be buying it again. The only good thing about this product is that it didnt break me out.

Skincare - Face -Dr. Bronner's - Dr.Bronners Tea Tree Soap
marticica888 1/22/2010 1:38:00 AM
Oh my goodness, i am in love. I literally ran out of the shower to write this review haha. This is the best body wash ever! It has a very creamy lather and is very gentle and non irritating or drying! I love the tea tree smell too. I picked this over others because I thought that tea tree would have the best benefit for my oily skin (pretty much on my chest and back) and its great! It is on sale at target right now (other scents are too.) Loooooove it! Best impulse buy yet! Lately ive been using bath and body works body washes and every time id step out of the shower id feel a little irritated (could be the fragrance or the SLS, who knows) Dr bonners has none of those ingredients yet it foams really well though. Now that i used dr bonners what a difference it makes in my skin! It is so soft and not dried out! Will definitely repurchase. The bottle could use a pump but w/e. Im going to dilute mine and put it in a foamer bottle so Ill see how that goes.

Liquid -Neutrogena - Skin Clearing Oil-Free Makeup
marticica888 1/20/2010 6:16:00 PM
A few months ago I wrote a really bad review for this foundation. Not sure what made me do it, but I bought it again to try it out a few days ago. In the store, honey beige looked like a nice golden color. Once I came home to try it out, i emptied some on the back of my hand to try and it started turning colors. Very reddish/pinkish and that really put me off. I buffed/stippled it in my face with my EDM flat top brush (love!) and surprisingly, it didnt turn a pinkish red on my face. It stayed true to the color it was in the bottle. WEIRD? However, the color is still not as golden as I like but whatever I'll deal.. not alot of foundations are. The coverage was surprisingly good! Very different from my previous experience! I set it with my maybelline shine free powder and it looked great. Did not accentuate my pores (alot of foundations do, even estee lauder) and felt nice and matte to the touch without looking heavy and cakey and settling into the smile lines around my mouth!! (matte foundations usually do that to me, they make my lines appear even larger). What i dont like though is the screw top bottle. I mean i guess its ok since the foundation is really liquidy and runny... but a pump would still be helpful. Overall my skin seems to like this foundation. Ill wear for a few more days and update accordingly.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri in Pronto Purple
marticica888 1/16/2010 12:08:00 AM
This is a very pretty purple color.. very wearable for nc40 skintones (or something close to that). Not too dark or too bright or offensive, or too dull to go unnoticed. As far as drying time and brush application-meh, its overhyped. i messed up one of my nails on accident as it really doesnt dry in 60 seconds like it says. I bought a couple of other colors... i dont know if i would re-buy or not just because i like to try so many different colors of nailpolish and most of the time end up throwing them away after a while rather than using them up.

Lotions/ Creams -Lavanila - Vanilla Coconut - The Healthy Body Butter
marticica888 1/14/2010 2:52:00 AM
Ok.. so I LOVE the texture of this. It is hands down the best body lotion/butter ive ever used. My skin is not too terribly dry, so the non greasy, but thick texture of this is perfect for me. I can seriously put this on and rub it in only once, and it absorbs right up leaving my skin feeling fantastic. go greasy slip, just amazing moisturized skin. However, i really dont like the vanilla coconut smell. Honestly it smells nothing like the name implies. Maybe a little bit like vanilla extract mixed with something. but this is not a sweet smell at all (or at least to me and on me). It doesnt linger so it is bearable enough for me to use up what i have. When i run out (which will be soon) I will be getting the pure vanilla or the vanilla grapefruit. Now those smell yummy. Oh and by the way, this is not a 100% natural. If you want something 100% natural go for 100% pure products, a line which you can get at Ulta ( however their formulation is more oily to me)

Foundations -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy Airbrush Spray Makeup
marticica888 12/31/2009 1:50:00 AM
Ok, so here is a little bit about my skin: oily, even now in the winter. At the moment i have some scabs/scars due to my blackhead pickfest last week. Very olive toned due to self tanner use, otherwise my true undertone is neutral (pretty happy about that). I love medium/full coverage foundations because i HATE to use a concealer anywhere else other than undereyes, and i love my mac moistureblend for that. Sally Hansen Carmindy Airbrush Foundation: $13 or so at Rite Aid, i got the shade "deep" just by judging the reviews. It is actualy a very good color for me. Ill post some reference coloring in other foundations later in the review. I feel like i have to use alot of product to get any coverage out of this. I found it best to spray bits of my face like one cheek or forehead and blend with my coastal scents buffer brush or stippling brush. Coverage to me, is like a tinted moisturizer. Sheer to light. If i spray on my hand and put onto face, i feel like i waste/evaporate product. Does not cover scars/imperfections well. you'll definitely need a concealer if your skin has imperfections. It is good for just slightly evening out skintone, kind of like a tinted moisturizer. It also feels funny on my skin, kind of moist but not really. It also ever so slightly stings when it is put on. Directly on skin or on hand and then on face. It has a dewey finish. You will definitely need a setting powder. Overall, this is not my cup of tea. I like good coverage foundation so i DONT have to use a concealer. It would be better for my skin probably if i did use a sheer foundation and concealer on imperfections only.. but im too lazy. I like my foundation to do the work. I cannot say anything for the wear of this foundation as i have not worn it out... because of too sheer of coverage :/. Past foundations ive tried..: EL Double Wear Shell Beige- good but after a few hours shows pores on my nose BADLY, also not good colors, too peachy EL Double Wear Light 4 : best colormatch yet, decent coverage, would like more coverage but this is my go-to foundation EL Double Matte Warm Tawny- ok wear but HORRIBLE colors Revlon colorstay combo/oily Natural Tan- best wear but colors are too ashy/pink Lancome teint idole bisque 7- lovely colormatch but havent tested the formula out yet Mac Studio Fix fluid NC 42- A very good colormatch (maybe a little TOO yellow, but easily fixed with powder) however, gets oily too quick and tons of others not even worth mentioning... EDIT: I ended up LOVING this! It stays matte the whole day for me (either with using lancome's la base primer or my shiseido spf 55) I MEAN ABSOLUTELY THE WHOLE DAY!!! I would get a little shiny at the end of the day with my other liquid foundations, but not this! The only bad thing about this is is for some reason, the pores on my nose seem a little bit more prominent. But not enough to really bother me. Im still trying this out with different primers, but so far i really love it. Has not broken me out either.

Brows -Make Up For Ever - Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector
marticica888 12/22/2009 1:52:00 AM
This is a very good product. I was tired of my benefit browzings, having to powder fill and then put on the wax, i wanted something that would be just one step. I always hated the look and wear of pencils, so when i found this i got really excited. It took me the longest time to figure out how to apply this. I had a few angled brushes that id use for my browzings or eyeliner and no matter what brush i tried, thick, scratchy, thin, soft, fine, all of them seemed to leave me with huge bushy unnatural looking brows. I finally found a brush that works, the Japonesque brow brush. I believe the one from MUFE will work well with this too. The brush has to be very stiff, kindof scratchy and small in width of the bristles (not density), the smaller the more control you have. Also, i have to use a veeeery light hand. I color my hair dark brown (almost black) and i got 3, and i feel like its too dark/intense if im not suuuper careful with application. Thats the primary reason why this doesnt get 5 lippies. The color jumps really high in between shades 2 and 3. I feel like there should be a shade in the middle. Either way, this stuff is going to last forever. I got a sample at sephora and its lasting me a looong time. The wear of this is amazing. It lasts the whole day but it might smudge if you touch near your brows. (my browzings dont smudge). Still, i prefer this because of less steps and wear of the product. Also i love the tube packaging. It keeps the product fresh and not dry. I already purchased a tube, but im still using the sample, lol. I would repurchase if they made a shade in between 2 and 3, a 2.5 lol.

Lip Gloss -Physicians Formula - Plump Potion - Pink Potion
marticica888 12/16/2009 10:59:00 PM
I got an awesome deal on this, 2.99 clearanced at rite aid. I think it plumps ok, its not like a WOW effect, but it does plump somewhat. I think it might be as good as lipfusion, which i also have. The only thing i dont like about this is the overly bulky packaging. Ok, you really dont get a ton of product, but the packaging just makes it seem like you get alot. Didnt make my lips burn, it basically felt the same way for me that lipfusion does, kind of like a weird warm tingly feeling but not much more than that. The color was also o.k. It shows up clear on me. If i found it again for such a low price, id re-buy it. And i probably will since it is getting discontinued and we'll probably see it soon at discount stores.

Treatments -Loma - Pearatin Fortifying Repairative Serum
marticica888 12/15/2009 4:20:00 AM
whooooaaaa, after ONE use, the condition of my hair improved immensly. It almost felt like my virgin hair, before i did anything to it. (i have been coloring my hair for 7 years and had a perm couple years ago). Before i used this, i still had those leftover permed scraggly ends (basically everything from my ears down was in awful condition). Before i tried pearatin i used pureology, bedhead, aphogee.... and others. I used it only once, on friday. I washed my hair again today (monday) and DID NOT use it, and my hair feels just as soft as it did on friday (right after i used the product) so it basically still feels like i used the product today when i didnt! That really SAYS something. That this really works on the condition of your hair and improves it. A little goes a long way too. I think i overused it a bit on friday and it weighed my hair down ever so slightly, but it did not make it look greasy or dirty. I am seriously amazed by this stuff.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Intensive SPF 20
marticica888 12/15/2009 1:06:00 AM
Ok, so i didnt buy this product but im going to. BUT I saw this at a discount store (otherwise i would have probably never looked it at the drugstore) and popped open one of the tubes (bad bad, i know!) and put some on my hand to see the texture, since spf 20+ retinol is not bad. The smell is horrendous, like something burnt and old sunscreen mixed together. It seemed to absorb quick and not leave a werid greasy residue on my hand. There was some other sunscreen tube from Alpha hydrox that i tried on my other hand. And then the weirdest thing happened. I looked at my other hand where i put the neutrogena and my self tan was missing from that part of my skin! It just ate it off! Geez! Some pretty powerful stuff that is in there! Well i took some time to think about it, and by the time i was done with errands the store was closed, so I wll go tomorrow and purchase this and update it when i use it on my face.

Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector Deep
marticica888 12/14/2009 1:36:00 AM
I dont know where the listing to this went. Im sure i saw it the other day, which is what initially caused me to go get a sample of this. Boy am i glad it is only a sample! This stuff gave me TWO underground CYSTIC pimples in my t-zone area, which is primarily where i used it. EWWW! And my skin is NOT sensitive NOR is it acne prone. And it took almost two weeks for those buggers to go away! They never surfaced though, so at least that was ok. But they were painful lumps! And one was totally obvious! It looked like i had a tumor under my skin! To clarify, i used BOTH the instant perfector and the t-zone one, because the SA DID NOT give me enough samples of each! Come on! I used the instant perfector in my t-zone and the t-zone one everywhere else (after realizing that what she gave me was not enough). I do not know how these products worked for people. Eew, ew and ew! Shame on clinique. I dont think there is a product by clinique that i have ever been happy with anyway. Their clarifying liquid foundation was ok, but the shade selection is awful. All overly peachy tones that look orange or pink. But thats another review...

Treatments (Eye) -Korres - Evening Primrose Eye Cream
marticica888 12/9/2009 2:32:00 PM
Ive had this for a few weeks now. And geez, this is going to last a looooong time! You get so much in that tube. I know eye creams double the price of this one and 1/3 of the amount you get in here. Overall, its a nice moisturizing, non greasy eye cream. That is what i have been looking for since i now use anther anti-wrinkle treatment that is not too terribly moisturizing. (i know, i dont really have wrinkles now but i have annoying expression lines that show when i wear matte makeup (which i have to because im so oily)). So prevention is key. I dont have terrible dark circles because im finally getting enough sleep, but my eyes can get kind of dry and irritated and puffy sometimes, and this helps. I like that it is mostly natural too, and you get soooo much in the tube so it will last a while. Which might not be too good because the expiration date is 3 months from now and i do not know how i will use it up. When i was purchasing it, i checked out a couple of places and everywhere the expiration date was so soon, probably because the cream is mostly natural and doesnt have too many perservatives. But oh well. It will be probably the spf that expires, which im not too worried about because i have another spf i use all over my face. To sum it up, it is a nice natural eye cream that moisturizes and soothes. As of right now i would not rebuy, because possibly in the future when i run out of both of my treatments i might look for something that is anti wrinkle and moisturizing at the same time.
