Styling Products -L'Oreal - Studio Tightly Wound Curl Spray Gel

Since my mousse wasn't giving me enough hold, I decided to try this spray gel. Now I remember why I've always disliked spray gels. It made my hair stringy, dull, and nappy.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Remarkable Washable Waterproof Mascara
rated 2 of 5
macompanick 6/30/2007 10:39:00 AM

I used this mascara 10 years ago in college (before I was the make-up junkie I am today), so I decided to give it another go based on the positive MUA reviews. Unfortunately, I need more drama on my lashes these days, and this mascara didn't deliver. If you want a natural look for a good price, this might be for you, but it didn't give enough "oomph" for me.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Outlast All Day Liquid Make-up (foundation+primer) [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
macompanick 6/30/2007 10:38:00 AM

I used this long-wear foundation for a few weeks (Creamy Natural) and while I really liked the color match and the staying power, I broke out on my chin, so I returned it. I'll continue my quest for a foundation that is kind to my skin, but can last through my 12-hour work day.

Mascara -Revlon - 3D Extreme Mascara - Blackest Black
rated 1 of 5

When I first opened the tube (which is pretty spiffy looking), I thought the wand was defective. It looks nothing like the photo on the package, plus it was covered in goop! Despite my initial disappointment, I tried the mascara anyway. Eh. It's tough to apply (had to wipe the want many times due to the goop), but produced a nice enough effect. However, my biggest gripe is that this mascara is SO hard to wash off (I did not buy the waterproof version). No matter how much I lathered, I still got residue under my eyes - and I do not wear the mascara on my lower lashes. I'm going to return it today.

Styling Products -Matrix - Curl Life Every Weather Hairspray
rated 2 of 5

This hairspray has no hold. I've had it for a week and I swear I've used half the can! Plus, I used it on a rainy day last week and my hair looked just awful. It's got a nice scent and that's about the best thing I can say about this spray.

Tinted Moisturizer -Elizabeth Arden - Sheer Lights tinted moisturizer
rated 3 of 5

While I truly liked the coverage and staying power of this tinted moisturizer, the Light color was too dark on me. I'm looking for Fair, but I believe this TM is discontinued (no longer available for purchase on the EA web site), so it's really not worth the effort.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Blushed
rated 3 of 5

After reading other reviews, I decided to give this lipstick a try. The color was pretty good (not a perfect YLBB, but decent). Unfortunately, I just didn't like the glitter/shimmer. If they made this shade as a creme formula, I think I'd be all over it!

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick in Twinkled Pink
rated 2 of 5

This color is pure candy pink on me. Does not look natural at all. The only time I can imagine wearing this lipstick is as part of a costume.

Lipstick -Revlon - Rose Velvet
rated 2 of 5

I contemplated this lipstick for a few days before I actually bought it. It looked so pretty in the tube, but when I put it on my lips, not so much. For me, a better name for the color would be Brick Rose. It appeared brown/red on my lips. At least I didn't pay full price!

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
rated 3 of 5
macompanick 4/18/2007 9:13:00 AM

I tried really hard to match my skin using the little card in CVS, but the color I bought (N2 Classic Ivory) is just too pale on me. It made me look ashy. Plus, I'm not thrilled with the packaging and the fact that this foundation contains no SPF. It's decent, but not my HG. I'll be returning it.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - tokidoki - dolcissima
rated 5 of 5

I bought this gloss on a whim, and the more I wear it, the more I really, really like it! First off, the packaging is adorable (and packaging usually means squat to me - as long as I can fit a product in my pocket, I'm good to go). The gloss itself is really something. My lips have a lot of pigment and this tones them down without washing me out. It's also not too peachy (unlike Nars Orgasm gloss). Though I tend to shy away from glittery/sparkly stuff on my lips, I feel this gloss provides a sophisticated shimmer/shine. My husband hates goop on my lips, but he hans't complained about this gloss yet. Another plus is the brush applicator, which I prefer to a sponge. Some other reviewers claim it's not long lasting (c'mon gals, we all know this is not a strong suit of the gloss category), but I think it's fantastic. It's not drying and the shimmer/shine fades away gradually, leaving lips lush-looking for hours. This is the best gloss I've found in a while! If I'm still using it in several weeks, I'll bump it up to 5 lippies - any lip product that can capture my attention for more than a week deserves all five! EDIT: I'm still using it, so true to my word, I'm bumping the review to 5 lippies. One small note, the gloss tends to glop out of the tube when I screw the top back on, so I have to wipe it with a tissue before putting it back in my make-up bag. No biggie, though.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Cherry Fizz colourjuice
rated 2 of 5
macompanick 4/16/2007 9:31:00 PM

I'm reviewing Colour Juice Stick in Cherry Freeze. I bought it after seeing it featured in Allure. The flavor is yummy, and the texture is nice (glossy, but not too goopy), but the color is pure tomato red on me. There was just no way to make it work - over lipstick or liner or anything.

Lips -Revlon - Shiny Sheers - Sheer Afterglow 810
rated 3 of 5
macompanick 4/6/2007 1:02:00 PM

I bought this very shortly after I saw Julianne Moore wearing it on the cover of Allure. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. Too much glitter. However, if you want a very soft, not-so-sticky, barely-colored lip gloss, this might be for you.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Soft and Smooth Lipcolor in Mocha Silk
rated 2 of 5

While I really like the consistency of these lipsticks, this color was just a hint too brown for my very naturally pink lips. It washed me out.

This color was a frightening pink. I put it on once and immediately removed it.
