When ever I wear this shade I always feel classy and so lady like..lol! It truly is a bright, vivid, and classic red. The matte finish stays on forever, even through eating and drinking. Lip prep through exfoliation and hydration is a must with this formula to ensure the shade applies evenly and wears well during the day without the dry patchy lip presentation.
I have repurchased this gloss a few times and I do like it worn alone or over a nude lipstick. The shimmery peachy-pink colour works well for my complexion, love the formula, and delicious vanilla scent.
Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - Clarifying Night Cream
lygophilia 5/30/2013 5:45:00 PM
Just finished my first tube and repurchased a second. Prior to this I was using Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-In-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment (which I like & reviewed) for my BHA skincare needs, but I thought I try something new and this seemed tempting as it not only contained BHA (1% salicylic acid), but retinol and antioxidants. I love use and love retinol products, so I had to try it. I don't have acne, but large pores that easily clog, the occasional breakout and combination skin. This lotion definitely works to keep my pores clean and less visible, plus keeps my skin's texture smooth, blemish free, soft, and glowy. Personally this is fantastic for my skin needs and will continue to repurchase over Neutrogena, as I love that it has a BHA & retinol. I should also mention that I use this every third or fourth night in my skin care routine, versus daily/nightly use. Ingredients: Active: Salicylic Acid (1%), Other: Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Squalane, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Retinol, Sodium Ascorbate, Tocopherol, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG-180, PEG-75, PEG-8 Cetyl Dimethicone, Hexylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Propylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Polysorbate-60, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Dicetyl Phosphate, Ceteth-10 Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Fragrance
This is the third set of Real Techniques brushes I purchased at Walmart (I live in Canada) and I love them as much as the first two sets I purchased, the Eyes Starter Kit and Travel Essentials. The brushes are well constructed, light weight, comfortable to hold, with the taklon bristles being densely packed, firm, and soooo soft. Brushes wash easily while maintaining their shape without shedding, plus the travel case is such a convenient and thoughtful bonus. Very versatile set that I use on a daily for either foundation, concealer, contour, highlight, and cream blush application/blending. I've already repurchased to give as gifts to my friends for their upcoming birthdays.
MAC described this shade a a "chilled lavender pink" with a frost finish, but to me I find it a cool toned lilac with duochrome finish that flashes shades of pink and silver depending on the lighting and other shadows or bases paired with it. The formula is a little chalky and not the most pigmented eyeshadow I own from MAC, and most definitely requires a base and a packing motion during application. Some of the different bases I've paired it with include; MAC's Paint Pots in Bare Study, Painterly & Soft Ochre, Maybelline's Color Tattoo's in Inked in Pink & Barely Beige, and NYX's Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Milk. This shadow looks great on the lid paired with either greys, pinks, or purples. I've been using this eyeshadow quite a bit this past Spring for a neutral eye paired with a bright bold pink lip; I apply Seedy Pearl to the lid, Omega in the crease, and Blanc Type on the brow bone. I would repurchase this shade again for the uniqueness of the colour.
Eyeliner -New York Color - High Definition Liquid Eyeliner extra black
lygophilia 5/30/2013 2:55:00 PM
Love the price ($1.97 Canadian at Walmart) and fine tip applicator that makes application easy, but the formula was a let down. Lacks pigmentation and I found myself having to apply 4 coats to obtain a dark rich black colour. I noticed a lot of fading and smearing during the day too, despite using a eyelid primer. If they made a waterproof formula I would give that a try, otherwise this product will not be a repurchase for me.
Conditioner -Garnier - Long and Strong Conditioner
lygophilia 5/30/2013 2:50:00 PM
This conditioner just didn't work for me and my hair needs. I felt it didn't add enough moisture or hydration and left my hair feeling dry and course. Afterwards I'd have to pair it up with quite a bit of leave-in conditioner to ensure my hair felt soft, tangle-free, and shiny. I finished the bottle, but won't repurchase this again.
I do love the scent, how well this lathers up and how clean my hair felts afterwards, but it was leaving my hair feeling void of moisture and dry. This shampoo gave me results like a clarifying shampoo as it stripes your hair clean, but doesn't moisturize. I was initially using it as my regular shampoo (I typically wash my hair every three days), to a once a month to give my hair a deep clean. I finished the bottle, but won't repurchase.
Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Eye Makeup Remover Lotion
lygophilia 5/26/2013 12:27:00 PM
I purchased this out of desperation as my beloved HGs of Equate Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover and Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover were both sold out and I needed a makeup remover asap. Seriously awesome at removing my makeup including waterproof and long wearing stuff without irritation or dryness. The formula is a fragrance-free creamy lotion that feels hydrating and soothing and comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser. Plus I have found that this lotion lasts longer then liquid versions of makeup remover, making repurchasing less often and it to be a better value. I'm already on my second bottle and will not be going back to liquid makeup removers any time soon. Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isononyl Isononanoate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Isostearyl Palmitate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Hexylene Glycol, Sorbitan Stearate, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Cetearyl Alcohol, Acrylates/C10 30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sucrose Cocoate, Propylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativa (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Aloe (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Propylparaben, Methylparaben
Mascara -Essence - I Love Extreme - Volume Mascara
lygophilia 5/23/2013 7:05:00 PM
This mascara didn't impress me or meet my personal taste on how I like my lashes to look. It did add volume, but left my lashes looking stumpy & clumpy. It also flakes like crazy and leaves me with irritated raccoon eyes. Finally, even though I knew this when I purchased this mascara, it is not available in a sealed package, therefore you never really know if it's been opened previously. I have and love many Essence products, but there mascaras I will not be buying again for safety and hygienic reasons.
Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
lygophilia 5/23/2013 3:45:00 PM
I joined the coconut oil party a little late, but after finishing off my first tub and repurchasing another I have to say this product is simply awesome for me. Great, gentle, inexpensive, and versatile product to use for adding hydration and moisture to my skin and hair. Love using it as a weekly hair mask, applying it as a nightly lip balm, or using it as a moisturizer for dry areas on my face or body.
Absolutely love Motif and it's become one of my many fave eye shadows to wear recently paired with a bright & bold pink, orange, or coral lip. Motif adds that beautiful and interesting touch on the lid without clashing or looking over down when paired with a brighter lip. Motif looks like a boring neutral in the pan, but once applied it takes on a life with a duochrome golden peachy-pink finish. Love pairing it with either Moleskin, Kid, Wedge, Malt, or Soft Brown in the crease, add a little Cork, Down Brown, or Saddle in the V to deepen it and Blanc Type or Vanilla on the brow bone for a neutral and easy eye.
Lipstick -MAC - Mineralize Rich Lipstick - Style Surge
lygophilia 5/23/2013 3:13:00 PM
I love MAC's lipsticks so when I heard they were expanding their lipstick collection to include a Mineralize Rich, I instantly got excited and added a few on my list to purchase. MAC describes Style Surge as a neutral coral cream and the shade appears on my lips as a pigmented light peachy-coral with a glossy finish. The formula definitely feels very light, hydrating, creamy, and comfortable. The wear time is average for me, but the formula leaves my lips feeling so soft, hydrated, and conditioned that I can only compare it to like wearing a really good quality lip balm with the added bonus of opaque colour. The price for this lipstick is more compared to regular MAC lipsticks, but for the added price you are receiving more product in a large bullet packaging. Mineralize Rich Lipstick contains 3.6g/0.12oz of product, compared to a regular MAC lipstick that contains 3g/0.1oz of product. Would I repurchase this shade? Absolutely as I love corals/oranges and the formula is absolutely devine.
Liquid -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20
lygophilia 5/23/2013 2:06:00 PM
I purchased the lightest shade available in Classic Ivory and sadly I found the shade to be a little to dark for me, for reference I wear MAC NC15 or Matchmaster shade 1. On the positive side this foundation has a silky texture that blends easily onto the skin, provides light coverage, and sets to a glowy - satiny finish. Wear time on my combo skin is good and it lasts all day with diligent blotting and powdering for shine control on my oilier t-zone. The con, besides the lack of a good colour match is the packaging. This foundation is very fluid and without a pump it can get messy. Sadly I wasn't comfortable with the shade match and I gifted it to another person who loves it entirely.
I'm obsessed with rocking orange lips for the past year and this lipstick does not disappoint. This shade is bright, bold, and a great way to rock an orange lip when you don't want a full on orange, but a slightly softer and more wearable colour thanks to the red undertone. The formula is creamy, smooth, and has a matte finish. With the matte finish I always ensure my lips are properly pampered with exfoliation and hydration to avoid the cracked, patchy, and dehydrated lip appearance that mattes can enhance. Wear time is fantastic too.
